McBean Outside Bar Lincoln Reviews
Dalton and Rylee were my peeps tonight. Fantastic service. They make a great atmosphere. Greet you when you arrive. Tentative to your drink and food needs (i wasn't hungry). Relatively slow weekday night but the crew kept busy cleaning and never didn't have the time for customers. Talkative and not overbearing. Great place to go.
Sydney and Dalton were literally the best bartenders. They handled so many people on Halloween and were the most professional people. They were so nice, gave exceptional service, and I will be coming back because of them. 10/10 experience because of them!!!
Great bartenders. I didn't eat, but the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked really appealing.
Man what a fantastic find in Haymarket. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, great staff. I had a brat with sauerkraut and it was amazing.
Love McKinney’s! Honestly the best value for food and drinks in Lincoln. I think they actually lowered their prices and the food and drinks are still great. Always a place I visit on a night out or to catch a game.
I’ve never been to a bar alone as a female and since moving the haymarket it was the first bar I went to and the dalton the bartender made sure I felt safe and comfortable and ever since then I got to know the entire staff. I let the owner Nate know how much I appreciated all of them including their manager Libby for always taking good care of us. It’s a kid friendly atmosphere during the day as my daughter loves Olivia’s Shirley temples xtra cherries!
Met a friend for lunch and it was my first time there. I'll start by saying this: if you are a fan of Liverpool, then this is your new home. The place was absolutely packed for the match and drinks were flying - which was very impressing because there was one barkeep and one cook and they absolutely rocked it. The young lady working the bar might as well have been an octopus, and not only did our food arrive fairly fast, it was VERY good. For the price point, it almost felt like stealing, to be perfectly honest. Another point on the food, we both ordered soup with the meal and the soup actually came out first. I can't tell you how many times I'll go somewhere and the appetizer comes out with the meal, which is ridiculous because then you have to eat something cold. If I didn't live so far away I'd have had a few beers, but the advertised prices were extremely competitive. All in all, I will be back because there are plenty of other menu items I'd like to try.
Was in the area and wanted to try a new restaurant while catching up with my best friend. As we walked by we saw the menu and thought it looked really good. We did outdoor dining as it was pretty warm outside that day and they had the heated lantern going. Waitress was nice. I cannot remember he name but she had medium length brunette hair. We had spinach dip as a appetizer and it was great for our meals we had a mac and cheese and a sandwich (forgot what kind she ordered) and then drinks were disaronno ginger ale and a flavored moscow mule. Everything tasted great! I would recommend do anyone in the area.
The 4 of us had lunch here and it was all very tasty. My wife had a cheese burger & she said it was one of the best she's had. Definitely worth trying this place.
We always find the food here to be excellent and of course the drink variety it great. The dining room is a bit small but there are also tables outside when the weather allows. Staff is helpful and friendly. Be aware on game days and special occasions they have a limited menu. I was looking forward to the Irish Coddle, unfortunately it wasn't on the game day menu but the Irish Stew was yummy.
We tried to go here for dinner. Be warned, it's not really a place to get dinner on a weekend. It was bar vibes only after 6:30pm on Saturday.
Was absolutely stoked for an Irish pub that made their Shepherd's Pie with lamb. That is, until I got the first one. Majority of the bowl was potatoes with a miniscule amount of meat & veggies. Bartender agreed that it was a crazy amount of potatoes, so he asked the cooks to make another one... 2nd one arrived, EXACTLY...LIKE...THE...FIRST...ONE... Almost all potatoes... Sad that an Irish pub can't make a half decent traditional Irish dish.
I live in Grand Island, Nebraska and we have a McKinney's here. It's fantastic. The one in Lincoln, not so much. We were basically the only 4 people in the restaurant. The waitress just yelled at us from the bar half the time. I ordered chicken strips which looked undercooked but tasted fine. The fries were a little undercooked, but okay. My wife's sandwich was good, but the cottage cheese had no flavor. My friend got the fish and chips and barely ate any of it because it was over seasoned. His wife got the cheese and broccoli soup and it was basically room temp. She only had a few bites of it. As for the atmosphere, it wasn't for me. There are dollar bills taped up all over the walls with writing on them. Some people might enjoy that, I didn't. It just felt cluttered and unfriendly to me. We will not be going back to this location.
The place usually is pretty cool. The food was ok, corned beef was really good but the cabbage and potatoes were cold. It was so hard to get a staff person. If they had been packed I’d understand but they weren’t super busy. 3 servers were all standing and talking at one end of the bar with one another. One girl behind the bar with long brown hair clearly did not want to be there. I’ve been here tailgating before Husker games and had better service than this.
Yesterday afternoon, we were celebrating our daughter’s 21st birthday with 14 family members and friends. Unfortunately, our experience at McKinney’s was far from pleasant. Upon entering, the bartender was extremely rude. We asked if there were any shot specials to help us celebrate, and she curtly responded, “We don’t do anything for this type of party.” We weren’t requesting anything exclusive, just looking for a suggestion for a shot to enjoy while celebrating at your pub. Later, Lauryn, the birthday girl, asked if she could put her $1 on the wall, a common tradition at your bar. Again, the bartender acted as though we were an inconvenience, making it clear she wasn’t happy to have us there at all. We shared this experience with "Group Therapy" bike company, and we strongly recommended they skip McKinney’s on future outings. We’re very disappointed by how we were treated and expected much better customer service.
Disappointing First Visit – Wouldn’t Recommend We came to Lincoln to move our daughter into UNL and decided to try this restaurant since it was close to our hotel. Unfortunately, what looked promising turned into a frustrating experience. We stood at the entrance for several minutes before being acknowledged. Once seated, our waitress took our drink order—two teas and a Coke—but never mentioned that refills would be charged. We ordered three burgers and an appetizer, then waited over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. During that time, we received drink refills without any warning of extra charges. I also witnessed a staff member behind the bar inspecting a burger and touching it with bare hands before it was served. When the food finally came, one burger was missing mushrooms, another had BBQ sauce on it despite our request for it on the side, and the appetizer arrived late. The waitress did apologize and offered either a dessert or 10% off, which we appreciated. But when the bill came, we were surprised to see charges for every drink refill. We were told this was standard procedure—even though we saw the waitress prepare some of them herself. As first-time guests, we felt misled and taken advantage of. If refills aren’t complimentary, that should be made clear upfront. Disappointing all around. Won't be able to recommend.
Used to be my fav place. Walked up to the bar to talk to some old buddies, was fun until I was told that I was “too drunk” after consuming 1 drink. Getting escorted out in front of old friends was an experience.
