Bellamy's London Reviews
Good atmosphere and good restaurant overall. I guess service could be a bit better and faster but generally everything went well. The food was also pretty good— not the best french I ve ever eaten but still deserves a praise nonetheless.
The short: I don't think I have had a better experience at a restaurant. Ill start with the service as it was impeccable, incredibly friendly , attentive and importantly relaxed. I did not feel rushed that restaurants ofter suffer from. We started with a perfectly prepared martini at the bar, a enjoyable and highly recommend way to start your evening. On being seated (and chatting for a while mot feeling rushed) we ordered the iced lobster soufflé which was delightful light served with very thin Toasted bread which complemented it well. I also orders the house white which was a very reasonable price for how good it was. I then had the Steak Tartare, something I would not get often as it needs to be of a certain quality. It was beyond a doubt the best I have had. Perfectly prepared, If you where to ever wish to try steak tartare this is where to do it! I was recommended the garden salad to go with I which did complement it well and I would also recommend. To finish I had the fantastic marina's chocolate cake. It being my birthday they also severed it with an elegant happy birthday piped on the plate (which was very tasty) and a candle, which was very sweet and really made by day. I cannot recommend highly enough, I had a fantastic experience. The staff in paricually have my thanks for making it such an enjoyable evening, so thank you for making tonight so enjoyable!
Effortlessly chic, relaxing restaurant. The food was exceptional. The atmosphere was welcoming. The staff make it look easy, because they are clearly so good at what they do. It has an understated elegance and easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while.
Immediately greeted by very professional service. You walk into a classic looking French restaurant. The menu is very French with some solid options. The wine list is typically vast, catering to all budgets. The bread and butter is moreish. The food is presented in a very unpretentious and simplistic manner, like how you would plate a dish at home. This isn’t art, it’s a meal and the taste is excellent for every dish. All of the meat we tried was cooked perfectly and beautifully seasoned. This is top French cuisine in a very traditional style with top service.
Booked a table at Bellamy’s for dinner as I heard it’s a great place. We had a wonderful experience here. The staff were lovely and our table was ready when we arrived. We had some lovely dishes - we tried their prawn cocktail, lobster soufflé, duck breast, beef tartare and two of their desserts. They were all great and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone visiting. The highlight for me was the lobster soufflé. Special thanks to Cosmin for making our dinner extra special and the rest of staff for paying attention to all the details. Can’t wait to go back once I’m back in London.
Service here is phenomenal, and food is great too. Very classic, old- school vibe. Loved the lobster soufflé and sole. I’d recommend going.
We were guests at an 80th birthday last night..A quite amazing place...our 3rd visit..it just gets better and better..undoubtedly our favourite dining experience in our capital...
Lovely restaurant- apparently the queen's favourite - in Mayfair. The steak tartare was without a doubt the best I have ever had and was absolutely divine. Understated but sophisticated, staff are friendly, polite and attentive. Wondeful to see Foie gras still on the menu, served with baskets of freshly toasted bread it is a real treat with a glass of desert wine. Fixed price menu is very affordable, but the a la carte is where the best plates are.
A wonderful evening for eight people to celebrate a family birthday. It's no surprise that Bellamy's was the favourite restaurant of the late Queen. Very good value for money and outstanding service. Other leading restaurants in London would do well to study Bellamy's success. Gavin ' le patron mange ici' Rankin is to be congratulated on maintaining such a high standard of food and service over many years.
Old traditional French restaurant in West End, superb welcome service and the food excellent. Will definitely return.
Very good quality Eating and drinking 🍸 Coffee ☕️ Friendly Staff Included the Boss
Great experience! Awesome food, friendly service and simply a splendid atmosphere! Will come back for sure!
Flawless in every respect. This is an old school London dining experience, the sort of which is hard to come by these days. The food was classic and slipped down a treat alongside an exceptional wine list. The staff made my grandmothers birthday one to remember and the bill was a pleasant surprise - expensive but not at all extortionate given the Mayfair location and overall quality. The generous quantity of minstrel chocolates at the end made me smile. I look forward to visiting again to savour their ever evolving menu; Bellamy's is truly something special.
Very friendly and accommodating booking; I must have booked one day later than intended - despite the restaurant being full, they made it work for us to have dinner as intended. Oysters were fresh and tasty, so was the main course (sea bass in foil), followed by crème brulle. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere - suitable for business dinner as much as for gatherings with friends.
Perfect birthday lunch Everything about this restaurant is wonderful...even the very reasonable set lunch prices. The food is of the very highest quality (and not tiny Michelin- portion sizes), as is the service; today we had the luck to be served by the delightful Maria. She was clearly so proud of where she worked and is a credit to this fine restaurant. As you would expect of the location, the clientele is very well-heeled (not like wot I ain't) but the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and informal; everyone will be made to feel most welcome. And the most important thing? My wife was treating me and she loved it too. Can't wait to go back soon
Authentic French cousin. Great attention and value for money. Best Tartar of London, it looks much better live than in the pictures.
Absolutely outstanding. I do not understand some of these reviews about service. I have been here several times and Luigi and his team are the best. Food is always very good and the lunch atmosphere I think is the best in London. I cannot recommend highly enough.
Wonderful. Excellent food and service and we were allowed to take as much time as we wanted. Absolutely great. And we could all hear each other across a lovely large round table! Rare these days...
Always a warm welcome & convivial atmosphere and certainly feels very reasonably priced. No rush to finish eating at lunchtime, which goes well with the excellent wine list!
An icon of Mayfair dining. Chic atmosphere, outstanding food and service. A rarefied, patrician restaurant with a stories history run by a deft and capable team.
Truly excellent French style restaurant tucked away in Mayfair London. A great place for drinks before your meal with a separate bar next to the dining area. The food is freshly prepared and is truly excellent. The staff were highly professional offering excellent service. A wonderful experience reminding me of the traditional style restaurants in the 1970s but with a modern twist. This restaurant is fit for a Queen - literally! Highly recommended.
The best restaurant in London. Periodically. Great food. Outstanding service. Beautiful surroundings.
A Mayfair classic. I’ve been coming here for years and the staff take great care of me. A classic brasserie menu. Never disappoints. Don’t miss the chilled lobster soufflé with a glass of champagne to start!
A French treasure in Central London. Carefully crafted menu with a nice balance of classic and innovation. Surprising without 'suprises' or attitude. The chef has perfected the art of layers of flavour in rather uncomplicated dishes. Visually appealing but not 'tricked out'. Attentive service. Very nice wine list. Sensibly priced, although not inexpensive.
I had the devon crab salad, followed by the dover sole; with a peach melba for pudding. Also had at the table were: brown shrimp croquettes, foie gras, picatta of vea, Msrina's chocolate cake, and a psssionfruit sorbet. Each course was exquisite in presentation and taste. a delightful portion size, too; neither nouvelle nor overwhelming. Not the cheapest place I've eaten in Mayfair but nor was it the most expensive. Everyone agreed the service was on point, although medium busy, we felt insulated from other tables' conversations. The Maitre d' was a pleasant fellow and happy to join our conversation upon invitation. A gem in Belgravia.
The service & staff on Saturday night at Bellamy’s was outstanding and first class. Every dish that we asked about was explained to us. My appetizer of Avocado & Prawns was the perfect way to start off my dinner. My wife & I both thoroughly enjoyed the filet of Sole. We agreed that it was one of the best we have ever eaten and would order it again. And a great wine list! This restaurant is worth every penny. My wife and I will definitely return.
One of the very best French restaurants in London, with consistently good French food of a kind that is increasingly difficult to find in London. The eel mousse, iced lobster souffle, steak tartare and ile flottant are all especially good. It's a delightful environment with exceptionally good and attentive service. It wouldn't be for everyone as it's relatively expensive and the atmosphere is traditional in a slightly old-fashioned way, but of it's kind it's one of the best restaurants I've been to for a long time.
Delicious food marred only by poor dessert on the set menu. I had chicken liver salad for starter and veal kidneys for main, both were fantastic. Dessert was an insipid looking glass with jelly that I was told was grape. No decoration, no appeal, no taste. Don’t be put off by this, just have the 2 courses!
Returned to Bellamy's for my birthday recently with children and a couple of friends. It was rather quiet and subdued when we arrived just after 7 and, in truth, we were a bit noisy. However, by the time we left the place had filled up and the atmosphere warmed up. My party all loved it - even though a bit non-plussed by the Bellamy's tradition of serving Galaxy Minstrels at the end of the meal. Exemplary service with genuine, professional, but unstuffy warmth and delicious food of incredible value If the prices aren't almost too "cheap", they certainly offer amazing value for money ( a meal in Whitstable costs the same with half the overheads)... Delicious roast grouse, steaks, starters of white bread, crab, terrine of goose liver, classic desserts The patron, Mr Rankin was hand to wish everyone bon appetite - the only people who still do that are very limited these days
Really good food , but slightly dated and overly simple for the price. I stress for the price, as despite being simple the food is still lovely. Was very empty when I went On a Friday night.
Fairly good French cuisine. All three courses solid, dessert the standout. Atmosphere was more formal than relaxed but a decent experience overall.
White cloth smart restaurant. Tucked away in a mews off Berkley square, the restaurant is quintessential English civility. The food is preposterously good and it is a gem surrounded by glitzier modern restaurants. Above all this, small French brasserie will leave you wanting more. If you fancy a quick lunch there is a bar at the entrance where you can have a drink and a sandwich or if for something fancier, oysters are an option.
Very classy restaurant, service was excellent very attentive without over doing it. The food was quite nice, I had veal dish which excellent as was the califlower soup. Worth a return visit next trip to London.
Bellamy's has a wonderful buzzing atmosphere and possibly some of the best service I have encountered. The team really were fantastic. The only let down is the food is rather underwhelming for the reputation of the place. I would try it again however.
Dinner for two, mar23. First time visit, after being a long standing user of Wilton’s. Positives: service, atmosphere, house red (£29, very good ), other guests nice, good location/setting, fair prices. Negatives: interiors rather barren and bit run down, food real nursery level (beans , mash, meat in sauce), menu not that appealing.
The menu at Bellamy's Restaurant is a celebration of French-inspired cuisine, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and expertly crafted dishes. From delicate seafood starters and succulent meat mains to decadent desserts and artisanal cheeses, each offering is a masterpiece of flavor and presentation that delights the senses.
Good value for money at this high standard restaurant. Professional service, good cooking. I have to note that there was no vegan options on the menu but the manager asked me to trust him with his plan-B and the vegan entree and main that came out of the kitchen ended up being great compromises given it’s absolutely not a vegan restaurant, quite the opposite Id even say.
Uninspired food at quite elevated prices, felt like time travel - remembered how much cooking has improved. Stressed service, food came so quickly it can not possibly been prepared properly.
Server appeared preoccupied and jittery. We had to move tables after a glass was spilled and broke over our table. We understand that accidents happen but beyond the breakage there was still questionable service. Our dining experience was a few days before Christmas. Not a restaurant we would return to.
Steak tartar has very English taste, too much vinegar. Actually most of salads are likewise. What they serve as French fries is just a shame. Their fish options seem to be better choice.
Very disappointed overall, was happy to organise a family diner there but cocktail to start was really not good (Moscow mule), tartar steak not good either (nerves in meat, not tasty at all), pomme pont-neuf served with meat were hardly cooked and to finish deserts were equally disappointing. Oysters only were good there. As prices are on the high side 100£ pp mini, so definitely not worthy for this disappointing quality level. A French restaurant is not just a French name …
The steak tartare was awful. I’ve never seen such a sorry sight on a plate as this. It was like the Chef had used a “burger press” to construct it. A few pallid looking chips to accompany the plate..and that was it. Left most of it expecting a question about my eating experience…absolutely nothing. When we got the bill the server was so dismissive. No engagement at all. Asked a question about whether the service was included and he was monosyllabic. When we left I approached the same server to say.how rude he was .he seemed to liven up a bit claiming confusion over the cash element of the bill…no ….just rude.
My wife and I ate here. The staff was attentive and lovely, the setting was charming, but there was a lot else to be desired. I had a good risotto and a quite average sole fish, but my wife's foie gras was flaky and her stake was flavourless, dry and forgettable. We were happy with the bill, except that they tried to add a 'cover cost'. When we questioned this, it was attributed to the seemingly complementary bread and the use of tablecloths, which were stained after a waiter spilt some of our wine from an unwieldy and redundant carafe. This strange cost was quickly removed, but given the lacklustre meal it soured our experience. I don’t believe that it is normal for patrons to pay for a restaurant’s cleaning costs, except insofar as this is reflected in the price of the food. We wouldn't go again.
Shocking service. Poor choice for dinner. Confirmed they had vegetarian options when reserving. Arrived to see the same menu as posted online with a single vegetarian risotto as the main option. When querying with the manager he offered a plate of pasta and tomato sauce or some side vegetables instead. When asking if the chef had any other ideas he came back offering a penne bolognese (beef). When I explained that vegetarians don't eat beef he said sorry. And I had nothing to eat all night. Absolute disgrace of a restaurant.
