My mother and I had a lovely afternoon tea at the Sunborn yacht hotel on Thursday Jan 18th in the afternoon. We were worried after reading some negative reviews but pleasantly surprised and left happy. The scones were delicious and sandwiches were very good. Cakes were nice especially the passionfruit cheesecake. We tried the cappuccino, hot chocolate and breakfast tea- all were lovely. We were happy with the price as we booked through Groupon and the service was great, very attentive. Special thanks to Neena and George who helped us. Would come back!

Just had a lovely birthday treat for my partner. We had riverside view from our room. Was very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are very clean and bed comfort was fabulous! Staff was also lovely too. Breakfast is buffet, serving full English breakfast, pastries, cereal and fruit. Would definitely come back here again. Wonderful stay love the Sunborn Hotel.

On a cold January Sunday the warmth of the crew and food was perfect.

Excellent afternoon tea onboard the Sunborn Yacht, moored near the Excel Centre. Polite & pleasant service accompanied with mouth watering sandwiches, cakes & scones,(2currant & 2plain). We also had a cocktail each & unlimited hot drinks, which was part of the deal. Fantastic views of the Thames & Dome.

Here’s the revised version: I had a wonderful afternoon tea with friends at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The food was delicious, featuring tasty sandwiches, scones, and pastries, paired with refreshing drinks. The elegant décor and stunning views created a perfect atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, though it could be improved. Highly recommend for a special outing!

Lovely day out. Afternoon tea was amazing fantastic views beautiful yacht. Well worth seeing and you would think emm sandwiches that's not gonna fill me up. Believe you me I was so full up loads to drink too. I wouldn't recommend for children. But definitely for couples and groups.

Beautiful venue & easy to get to with the new Elizabeth line. Afternoon tea was delicious & filling (took my dessert home!). Hot drinks were unlimited, staff were very attentive. Only niggle is some people who had separate dietary needs got individual trays, we were given a plate. Unfortunately, weather was terrible so unable to venture out onto the deck, but lovely views nonetheless. Inside the yacht was beautiful!. Would recommend & revisit.

I was early to an appointment so had the buffet breakfast on the Sunborn. I was taken to my table that had a lovely view by a really lovely lady called Bertrand who explained where the food and drinks were and told me to help myself. Very welcoming abs the food was lovely. Will definitely revisit.

Food let's it down had a pizza base was supermarket pre baked, top much tomato sauce so was boiling hot and hard as cardboard shame really as breakfast is good for being a buffet and the hotel is clean with comfy beds

I’d read other reviews so had an idea of what to expect, and they’re right - some of the service is strange. The staff are all polite and friendly but it seemed like people didn’t have set tables they looked after and there were long periods with no service (a couple nearby complained that it took 40 mins to even get their first cold drinks even though there seemed to be loads of staff). Maybe there’s no service plan, or there’s not much training/management? However, the food and drinks were wonderful, especially the scones, and the setting is clean and luxurious. It was a beautiful cold but sunny day and we sat slightly over from the windows - gorgeous view down the river. So despite the slightly dodgy service, I would return in a heartbeat.

Pleasant afternoon tea. I went with a friend for her birthday. Was a lovely afternoon treat. The location is easy to get to and the views are great across the dock. You can go outside to the terrace for drinks too. The food was nice, finger sandwiches, cakes and scones. Plenty of food for 2 people. Would return. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We wanted a same day booking and I called the hotel, the entire booking was easy. I spoke with Jeremy a couple of times over the phone when I wanted to modify my booking, he was pleasant, professional and ready to help. Upon arrival, Vamshi attended to us, he is a gentleman. He was attentive and patient. When we had a request,he responded quickly. The afternoon tea was quite tasty and filling. We couldn’t finish the sweet treats because we’ve had our fill. Everything was tasty and the environment is beautiful. So if you’re looking for a nice afternoon tea location that is easy to find with beautiful views, then you should go to Sunborn.

We went there for the Afternoon tea using a Groupon voucher. They had a nice selections of sandwiches and cakes. The service was ok, friendly staff and the venue had a nice interior with a calm, relaxing and romantic vibe. It was a plus for having the windows seat. I would recommend this place for a romantic view. Perfect for dates

This is my second visit to the Sunborn yacht restaurant. On this occasion, my sister and I enjoyed a cocktail afternoon tea. Before our visit, I contacted the reservation team via email to make some changes to our reservation. Jeremy from the reservations team was very kind and promptly made the necessary adjustments. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from the team. The afternoon tea itself was delicious, and we enjoyed unlimited tea and coffee. The experience could have been perfect if we had not been served a ham sandwich, despite my having previously shared our dietary requirements with Jeremy via email. Additionally, my sister's hot drink was served in a chipped cup. A team member addressed this, offered an apology, and corrected the issue. I would recommend the Sunborn yacht hotel for afternoon tea.

This was my second visit, the cheese and onion tart is yummy, scones warm and fresh, the cakes are delicious. Sandwiches could do with more filling and for non red meat eaters maybe some kind of prawn, chicken or tuna filling would be nice.

Easy to find and get there, staff were helpful and friendly. Decor could do with an update but I'm nitpicking to be fair. Give it a go the afternoon tea is surprisingly nice!

I took my best friend yesterday 10th Sept 2024, for her birthday. Positives -was that the yacht was very lovely & views were too. Staff were very pleasant. Negatives were - Groupon voucher did not have updated menu, so was upset when I didn't see certain things that were on list, were not included. Also, I have been to other Afternoon Teas where they constantly bring out extra sandwiches/cakes if required but Sunborn came with one tray and that was it. Was not impressed at all. I was expecting a better service of sandwiches etc.

Thought this would be a great experience of having afternoon tea on a luxury yacht… no .. you walk on the yacht off the street level then enter a lift up to the restaurant if you’re lucky you get a window table and look over the Thames but there is no chance to go up on deck and explore or lay on a lounger and have a cocktail … may as well been in one of the surrounding office blocks … the table was too small for the tea stand- food was just ok -took ages to bring out tea only had one cup as service was so slow. Not the luxury experience we thought it would be. Was charged £5.06 extra for a 200ml bottle of coke !!

Afternoon tea only. Waiter was friendly but very young and slow. 50mins for cocktail to arrive after reminding him 3 times. The sandwiches were ok, nothing special. Packet ham, packet smoked chicken, i think it was. The little choc cake was the star of the show, only it would have felt lonely on a postage stamp it was that small. It's a tourist thing. Nice surroundings on a Yacht, but all in all I would say style over substance. Much much better deals offered in the city.

Food wasn’t the greatest for the money spent. Sandwiches were soggy and cakes and scones were a little dry. The atmosphere was great and staff were very nice made my daughter’s birthday special.

Food was lovely and plenty of it. Lots of staff walking around and talking to each other but long waits for service off any kind. Table next to us waited over half an hour to be brought a menu to order! Manager seemed unwilling to spend time explaining what was on offer & available. Had little interest in engaging with customers. Location easy to get to.

Food was lovely but afternoon tea means tea we were served our food at 1.45 no tea till 2.45 when our food was about finished ...wasn't happy .

Bought afternoon tea as a Wowcher deal and it’s not the best we’ve had! Going up in the lift it smelled overpowering of glue. We were sat down and food was bought out to us and was not explained to what was what, one sandwich was buttered really thickly, 2 pots of different jams between us, scones were cold, and only one pot of tea during whole time. Waiting staff not very attentive at all. Been there, done it won’t be going back!

Very disappointing afternoon tea !!!!!! Food was chewy and cheap, they didn’t even cook the bread !! Absolutely disgusting!! They literally put the cold uncooked bread exactly how they took it out of the package! TOTALLY WASTE OF MONEY !! AVOID !!!!!!!

Upon arrival, we weren't greeted and were stood looking around for a server and to get someones attention for a good few minutes. The service throughout our whole experience from start to finish was way too causal and laid-back (not in a good way). No explanation when we sat down at our table, we were just left sat at a table and given nothing- didn't know if we were meant to have a menu to order with them or if it was automatically meant to be served to us when we arrive (which was what happened). Other than the scones with clotted cream which was amazing, the food is quite average. Interior is ok, but not really what I expected Whilst eating they were hoovering the carpet area around us and we could smell the carpet conditioner, doesn't seem so hygenic to me.

If you receive this afternoon tea as a gift experience, I strongly recommend regifting it or asking for a refund. It was the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. The only great thing is the view — over the water and the Canary Wharf skyscrapers. The cakes were so bad that even Tesco cakes would seem impressive in comparison. And then there’s the service. While some waiters were good, at least half of them seemed completely out of place. I would highly recommend this place only if you’re looking for a laugh or if you intentionally want to disappoint someone.

Not what I was expecting, other places in London serve so much better afternoon tea. I bought as a deal and the waitress asked me for the offer code which I thought she shouldn’t be as she already had my booking and then she realised she doesn’t need that. Overall cool experience of a yacht but not very good sweets selection and staff not very attentive. Not a 5 star experience.

The food and atmosphere were amazing but the whole experience was let down by the staff who clearly did not care. The service was non existent and the staff stood around talking to eachother all night.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my partner. I can’t say I was overwhelmed with the afternoon tea - The Savoy was infinitely better in both food & excellent service. To add insult to injury I was charged £90 & when queried I was to it was a service charge which I refused to pay - the £40 per person was in my mind overpriced especially as web page stated £35 per person.

2 indian staff at the bar this evening forgot my cold drink order. They were speaking in their own language which I found uncomfortable. If you cant speak english in a customer facing role- why are they employed to provide non existant great customer service? The bar was quiet 🙄 the staff did not offer the food menu. I then had to walk back over to the bar from the decking area to pay, that is when I noticed the bar food menu. I am not sure why such a lovely venue would employ dismissive staff. Unless they profile what customer would tip them more ?! Terrible service so far as it has wiped out the pleasant welcome at reception earlier in the day. Lets see how breakfast pans out tomorrow morning...

Bought a voucher on Groupon for 4 for afternoon tea. One of our party requested no butter, was told sandwiches were premade by the initial young man we saw. Voucher checked and we were shown to our table. Belated, waiter was quite accommodating regarding dietary requirements, which was a different story than we had previously been told! Food OK but nothing special. Upon leaving, we were asked to pay, we explained we had a Groupon voucher, was asked for a code, but the establishment had already redeemed the voucher. Was asked not to leave in front of many other guests. Which we found intimidating and embarrassing. They were at fault! Not us. No apology, when it was accepted it was their fault. Very unimpressed We were going to return for dinner and a weekend stay, which will certainly NOT be happening now. We were treated appallingly

Went for Afternoon Tea for a birthday treat. We got to the table and the waiter came we asked if we can change some of the sandwiches as some don't have ham and some don't eat beef. Asked for extra salmon. Instead they just brought us vegetarian sandwiches they were dry and no taste to them. The sweet dishes were awful, we was given a raspberries blended watery in a shots glass. The waiter did not even ask us if we wanted a tea. We had to call them after 20 minutes. No1 came to ask if we was OK or needs anything. At the end they had the cheek to charge us service charge of £15 pounds. The price on the website said £35 and they charged is £40 even though we said website said £35 and showed them pictures. The waiter just said this is the price. Not friendly at all. Was not a nice experience at all.

Good service although I felt like I was being watched maybe a bit to attentive, lychee mocktail was very nice, however cannot say the same for the food no flavour, very dated felt like the food is something from the 70’s/80’s.

Tea for two what a letdown this was £80 for tea for two nowhere near worth it food very poor quality. this was a birthday gift and a total disapointment, staff not very welcoming . This is a complete rip off and would not recommend. Lovely yacht that's about all.
