The Wine Library London Reviews
The very definition of a hidden gem! Managed to fit us in at the back of the shop but that was enough space for the two of us to enjoy a bottle of Fleurie along with cheese and charcuterie. Planning our next visit already
A hidden gem! If you want fabulous wine & food in an iconic location this is the place to go! Offering a large selection of red, white and sparkling wines this is a great spot. The platters are beautifully presented and taste excellent with the wines on offer. Service was impeccable! Highly recommend
Can’t get much better than this eh! Great service, food and wine. A London hidden gem!
Tucked away in an old wine cellar is an odyssey of quality wine. Nestled in between Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill stations hides this delightful gem. There is always excellent wine by the glass, with such a good choice it’s difficult to choose just one! With a charcuterie board on the side it’s the perfect place to wait for a train. It is very difficult not to leave without a quality bottle of wine or two that is very reasonably priced. A great place to hide when C2C cancel my train home. The Wine Library is a great excuse to pop in for a cheeky pit stop for a glass of delicious, quality wine while I wait for the leaves to be swept off the tracks. Just watch the steps up on the way out especially on a sunny day…
Can't believe we never found this before great wines good menu of snacks to go with your wine definitely take the time to visit this place. Will be back and will definitely be ordering our wine on line from here.
My new favourite library in the world. The librarian Peter was very knowledgeable and guided us with our taste. A must visit place if you’re having a bad hot day!
Mid afternoon drinks with their lovely Wine Library platter. Interesting wines by the glass selection. The proprietor is knowledgeable and happy to engage in conversation.
like Gordon's in the good old days - but much better lit really good wine selection including by the glass scrumptious platters and impeccably good service and very knowledgeable staff
Fabulous place! The wine was divine, loved the setting and the sharing platters were delicious (and great portions) highly highly recommend! The staff was wonderful very helpful and kind
Awesome choice of fine wines available to drink in with a small corkage fee or to takeaway. Excellent pate cheeses and charcuterie to accompany your wine. The friendly service just the icing on the cake. We'll be back again.
Just amazing, why haven’t I been here before! 🤦♂️ Fantastic choice of wine with a knowledgeable team, atmospheric cellars and I must try the food next time. A hidden gem
A great place to try new varieties from the old and new worlds.
They have wine to go, wine by the bottle and wine but the glass. The proprietor was very knowledgeable and was happy to show us around to help us pick out a wine. I would definitely suggest you stop by if you are at all into wine.
Stunning collection of wine and cheeses! Bit of a hidden gem - highly recommend a visit if you love wine!
Great venue. Loved it
A selection of very interesting wines. Delicious food. Super friendly service!
A fantastic place to spend an afternoon enjoying some excellent wines guided by knowledgeable staff
Very well priced, great wines and lovely platters. A real gem.
Wonderful wine selection and excellent cheese and charcuterie make this the hidden gem to discover in the City.
Great selection of wines will return you can hve a drink and tipple there too !
Bought some wine yesterday. I was charmed by the shop atmosphere and staff. I wasn't completely sure what I wanted, but they guided me towards the perfect result. Absolutely thrilled to come back.
Great little wine store. Picked up a nice bottle much better and cheaper than the room service swill while staying at a hotel around the corner. Great service. I’ll be back.
Accuracy in the wine selection, not limited to the "usual" labels (we found some Piedmontese small producers of Nebbiolo of high quality). Welcoming and informal like a real Italian Enoteca. Nice and smart the idea of the buffet, very good selection of French and Emglish cheese. In the kitchen? Donna Italiana, of course.
Great place for a wine tasting event. Extensive collections of wines with a very well versed host.
Great place Forgotten what a place it is for a quiet drink. No frills just a great selection of wine. Recommended the cheese platter if you're peckish.
Fabulous. Gem of a place, great choice of wine, expert help and enjoyable ambiance.
Excellent service and a very interesting selection of wines
Very pleasant bottle of wine in a cosy underground cellar. Will do this again and leave room for the attractive charcuterie boards.
Really knowledgeable team with good prices and a lovely spot to drink the wine you buy! Also, the cheeseboard platter can’t be missed, so buy a few bottles!
A great little Gem of a wine lovers venue and not your normal winebar being hidden in the basement of a georgian building in two long vaulted rooms. Very experienced staff with fantastic knowlwdge of wines from around the world. Fantastic selection of wines available at a prices that range from the everyday wines to something very special. A great place to meet with friends and enjoy the wonderful cold buffets at lunchtime. Booking in advance is best to avoid disappointment as this is a very popular venue for the insurance and banking industries. I've been gpoing to this venue since 1990 and have always had perfect service, wine & food.
Low key wine bar heaven. Arched wine bar/shop with a decent selection of mainstream and lower volume producers. The value varies, high volume not so much, low volume excellent. Special house champagne cuvée £25.99, yet to taste but it has to be better that anything in a supermarket for that price. Small selection of mid/low range wines by the glass. Definite return for a bottle at £9.95 corkage.
Excellent range of wines, deep knowledge of the product and a fine atmosphere with interesting and well presented fixed price lunches. The most awesome oenological experience in London.
Lovely little place with a unique selection of whatever you are after. The entrepreneur is very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting what matches your occasion. He even helped me out with a bottle opener at N/C. Great customer service.
Lovely place. Will come again,
A fabulous choice of good value interesting wines to suit anyones taste. You choose your wine off the shelf at shop price plus £ 9 corkage then drink it in the cellar bar with a lunch time full buffet of cheeses and pates bread and salad. They also now do a selection of wine by the glass had an excellent NZ sauvignon for £6. They are open in early evenings with their amazing cheese plate so much better than i've tried at any other place.
To all at The Wine Library, Thank you very much for the very pleasant Rioja wine tasting experience you ran in September 2022. The Rioja wine selection, service & charcuterie provided was sublime. In particular, Peter’s presentation was exceptional. I look forward to joining you all again soon. Yours sincerely, Sara Aydarus
Excellent selection of wines available to drink in or take away. Lunch buffet provides a magnificent cheese, meat, pate and rilittes plate. Well worth a visit.
Excellent cheese & charcuterie plates washed down with a glass of personally recommended wine. I highly recommend this place.
An absolute treasure of an establishment, I'm so glad that it has survived the lockdowns. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff can help guide you around a very wide selection of good wine. The corkage charge is very reasonable; you don't feel ripped off like in most wine bars. The cellar seating environment is very appealing. Not many tables, which makes it more pleasant as an atmosphere. It is worth booking ahead
Called in for quick drink for a bit of respite from the chaos of the underground on a busy Saturday afternoon. Despite being dressed for a Gun's N' Roses concert that evening, and being in a rather posh looking wine bar, the owner was friendly, welcoming and charming. We shared a beautiful glass of wine in lovely, peaceful surroundings. For a couple of Northerners lost in the chaos of London this was a lovely little oasis of calm. The owners a gent and not being particular wine connoisseurs we were able to explain our tastes and he recommended a glass of which was, for me, one of the nicest wines I've ever had. Loved this place. Manners cost nothing and in a city that lacks it so often (sorry, but head north and you'll find we take our manners a bit more seriously!) this lovely little bar made us feel right at home. Loved it!
It's been a long while since I last visited but pleased to say nothing has changed. The wine selection is vast and Peter can tell you all you need to know if you need advice. Along with the superb platters a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Truly fabulous.
Fabulous little hidden gem in the heart of London! Located near the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The staff was friendly and attentive. I am not a wine-o but they did a great job of walking my husband and I through some of their wines by the glass. We had four excellent glasses and the wine library platter was a great assortment of cheeses, meats, breads, and so on. I highly recommend stopping in for an afternoon to find a wine that you may never have tried before.
We came here for a private event a couple of months ago and it was fantastic. Lovely wine, good atmosphere and friendly and generous staff. Will definitely come back as I've heard they have a lovely buffet lunch. Thanks again for hosting us team!
Lovely little bar with a great welcome from Peter. He explained the wines we liked and gave us a sample of a Uruguayan wine when we said we hadn't had it before. Well worth a visit.
This is without doubt the best wine bar in London. A small celkar bsr right next to Tower Hill tube station. Really good wines, fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Also you can buy wines to take away .
Lovely little place. Wine cellar / vault like interior, quiet and intimate: feels almost as if you've stumbled across a secret. Fantastic choice of fine wines at a reasonable price. It's a bit shabby - could do with a coat of paint and there was a large spider in the toilet - but that kind of adds to its charm. The only real downside is the early closing time (8pm Tuesday to Friday) and we kind of had to rush to finish (although we were allowed to stay until after 8). The champagne we had was presented in an envy-inducing Le Creuset chiller, and the cheese plate was delicious. Well worth a visit for any wine enthusiast.
Good to see it back up and running and reasonably busy sad the buffet has gone but the replacement never board is excellent quality and good value. It was good to be back👍
This place is amazing. Nothing like I had ever been to before. Food excellent and atmosphere was second to none. Well worth a visit
We did a cheese and wine tasting with work colleagues. Very interesting and good wines. Not too pricey either. Lovely cave setting. Very good choice of wine and cahmpagne to buy.
It's constantly closed for private events.
