P.F. Chang's Long Beach Reviews
Our Social club came here for Friendsgiving, the restaurant was slow as it would be the day before Thanksgiving. The staff's warm hospitality and attentive made tonight’s eventful. The menu is bulky 32 pages, our chef was friendly, sociable and entertaining this venue significantly enhanced our social club's Friendsgiving gathering, the essence of sharing a bountiful meal and cherishing good friendships.
Highly recommend if you have a party of 8-10. Service is impeccable and fast while the food is delicious. The chef was very personable and catered to kids as well.
Absolutely loved it here, our waitress was so kind, very attentive, checking on us constantly to make sure we had what we needed, and our chef was so funny, we loved his laugh, energy, me and my parther are pretty antisocial but he helped guide us through the experience with good conversation skills!! We also noticed how courteous all the staff were giving us a warm welcome and a lovely farewell! Thank you guys again for giving us a beautiful experience our very first visit here!!
Passed this restaurant so many times finally came In to try it. Honestly, my favorite was the fried rice best I've ever had 😋 10/10. My drink could have been stronger but it was refreshing! Everything was good. The service was great. Everyone was nice & accommodating with the fans for the heat, also attentive. Good serving portions. I had leftovers! 🤭 Definitely recommend! 👌 Great place for a scenic walk after dinner
I've been to many a teppan house in my time, love these types of places. Tokyo Wako is interesting. First of all, their website did not list this location, which I found odd but maybe it's new. I in Long Beach at the end of September for a convention and came here for lunch on 9/25. The food was good. I had the combo Filet and Chicken. To be honest, I probably should just have gotten the chicken since I've been having Filets for dinner at steak houses all week and it's just a world different at places like this. But for what it was, it was good. My friend who was there with me was vegetarian and gluten free and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that her needs were met and she was happy with her food. My only complaint is that we had a trainee doing our cooking and while he did a good job, you could tell he was focused on not messing up the tricks and he wasn't much of a conversationalist. For example, he asked if we like coffee and then mentioned he had a favorite place, but when asked what it was he said "oh just go to starbucks." It was odd and a bit off-putting. The table behind us (which sat at the same time we did and had enough seats for us to join them) got the veteran chef and you could see and hear the difference. Since half of what you pay for and the main reason you go there is for the show, it was a bit of a let down. As someone who has been asked to grade new trainees at the local teppanyaki restaurant, I get it and have no problem with new chefs, but the conversation skills were my biggest issue. Still, not worth knocking off an entire star.
I came here on a short trip to Long Beach with my family and I loved it! The employees were all very kind and helpful! The food was mouth watering. The emperor steak was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! I also loved their shrimp, soup, and salad. The atmosphere was nice and I loved it. Our cook was funny and made delicious food. The ice cream for one of our birthdays was really good! Overall, I loved this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone!!
Being a huge hibachi fan I was skeptical with trying a new place as they never live up to the expectations. My man Edward here was awesome! Funny and very entertaining and the food was amazing! Parking is a little tuff but it's right off the pier and everything turned out perfect for a beautiful evening! If you find yourself in long Beach visit this place! I know will be back! Also make a reservation for the grill you may be turned away.
I love the food and service here. Our chef, Victor, was outstanding. Each time I’ve come, I’ve enjoyed every bite and sip! The entertaining creations from the chefs make it a fun time for all ages... I swear this place is seating upon seating upon seating. They have just the restaurant part and also the show where the food is cooked in front of you .. I had lunch here for the show. When the chef arrives he brings all that he needs to cook on his cart and gets on his way to cooking. The food wasn't bad at all. You come here for the show and it's not a bad deal... The waiters and waitresses were attentive and make you feel welcomed...
This place was sooooo yummy! LOVED the edamame you have to get it and the white peach sake. Shrimp was delicious and I liked the soup a lot. Our waiter was literally the sweetest man ever. So attentive and kind!! The bathrooms do be messy tho
This is definitely more about "the show" than the food. They do the typical fire to begin, which always gets a big reaction. Then there's juggling with spatulas and 'egg rolls' which are fun for a young audience. Overall the food was good, but not memorable and you definitely pay for the show. Our server, Dennis, was incredibly attentive.
Mid experience. Not bad but not amazing. I did really like the salmon wrapped scallops. The mushroom miso soup was great. The spicy tuna roll was good for a tuna roll, nothing great. I didn't really like the chicken fried rice. The sweet green tea has a slight alcohol after taste. The strawberry lemonade is great. Tasted my friend's filet mignon. It was cooked well but kinda meh. Probably wouldn't go back there except my friend really enjoys the teppanyaki experience
Great time. Food proces too high but expected in tourist area. Staff good some others not helpful. Soup was bitter but everything else was great. Steak, shrimp, chicken. Rice with chicken was 5 bucks more and not much In There so not worth it. You can get same at another hibachi place for cheaper. Meals running 25-35 bucks.
Slightly run down location, but very clean! We got there right at opening for lunch, ordered a roll and shrimp fried rice. The salmon on the roll seemed off. The shrimp in the fried rice were over cooked but the flavor was really great. Waitress was not the most attentive, but was nice. Bathrooms are very clean.
The food was mid. My steak was very good but the chicken was tough and lacked flavor. The server was terrible and had a nasty attitude. I didn’t get all my food even asking three people! Even asked the person cooking the food, he said ok and packed up then left.
My wife & me went to Tokyo Wako at the Pike Shoreline during Memorial weekend and these are my reflections. The food was adequate and the service was okay. I ordered filet minion and it was served in soup which was off putting. We barely saw our server after he delivered our entrees but when we did see him he was nice and accommodating. We spent over $200 for dinner for 2 which wasn’t worth it.
Our server and many of the servers in the room did not put on a show. We came to this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday right when they opened, around noon. We were the third table seated for Teppanyaki and were really looking forward to it since it was a small family gathering and a bit of a special occasion. A few of us hadn’t been to a Teppanyaki dinner in a long time, and one family member had never experienced it before, so we were excited to share that with them and enjoy the classic tableside cooking show. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing. The chef who cooked for us seemed uninterested and barely engaged with the table. There was almost no entertainment or showmanship — he said “volcano” once, did a very minimal onion volcano, and that was basically the extent of the performance. It felt rushed and lacking in energy. I started to get the sense it might be that kind of experience because none of the other tables around us seemed to be having much of a show either. On top of that, the overall service and attention to detail were lacking. After finishing our soups and salads, our empty plates sat in front of us for nearly 20 minutes before anyone came to clear them, which made things feel a bit neglected. The food itself was fine but didn’t make up for the dull atmosphere and lack of interaction. For a place that’s supposed to be lively and fun, the whole meal just felt flat. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a real Teppanyaki experience — it just didn’t have the energy, entertainment, or service that make this type of dining special.
Terrible. Steak was VERY over cooked, tough and inedible.!!! I'll be feeding the leftovers to my dog!! . Chicken was dry and tough!!! Chef spoke Spanish to other guests!!.The chef was not Asian and it is very RUDE RUDE RUDE MANNERS for the Chef having conversations in a foreign language in front of GUESTS!!!! If I wanted a Spanish atmosphere, I would have gone to a Mexican restaurant. Sheesh.. Then making jokes and laughing that GUESTS do not understand,, with a thick Spanish accent, I have to keep asking, what? . Could it get worse? YES!!! Then we're charged $10 for two glasses of TEA. Then charged $10 for two cups of rice. Total bill,? $140.!!!! !!!! For over cooked, tough, inedible steak, dried out chicken, and RUDE manners. STAY CLEAR of this place.
This review is for the dining area and not the toppanyaki side of the restaurant. However the restroom that is communally shared was filthy and parts of the ceiling were coming down. My wife also went to the women's restroom and told me it is unsanitary. Bear in mind this is on Mother's Day around 6pm and the restrooms were a mess. We were given disposable utensils and soy sauce packets; mind you we were dining in and not taking anything to go. We ordered the truffle edamame which didn't have any umami flavor of truffle whatsoever. My wife ordered a salmon wrapped scalloped that tasted overly sweet and like a bunch of flavors just mixed together with no contrast or acidity to wash out or balance the overbearing sweetness of the sauces. My food was a little bit better as it was simply fried but honestly feels like it shouldn't be priced at $26 but rather than $18 for that dish once I received it. Our waitress only walked by once and saw that our drinks were low and refilled them. But never came back and asked how the food came out or how we were doing or even bothered to offer dessert. I had to flag down another waitress to get our to-go boxes and the check. Also, one of the guys who is running the food was coughing very loud in the back and coming out from the kitchen walking with plates and bringing back refills and walking back out. I couldn't help but to notice he wasn't wearing a mask or gloves the entire time he was coughing. This isn't exactly the kind of experience you want when you are spending $130 on dinner for two. Again disposable utensils, lack of attentive service, filthy restrooms and subpar meals that just don't live up to their prices. I honestly can't believe this restaurant is on the pier and fails to capitalize on the real estate it's at and deliver excellent service and cuisine. P.S. I'm writing this review while sitting on the 🚽 cause to add insult to injury it upset my stomach.
