Sake Secret Long Beach Reviews
I'm almost afraid to write this review fearing this place will get too packed, but we don't gatekeep around here. Sake Secret is Long Beach's best kept secret. This unassuming little spot only has maybe a dozen seats, but there is standing room. On Wednesdays they have free 3-flight sake tastings that rotate every week. Every other day you can buy a bottle and drink it there or take it home. There's a huge selection of bottles from individual size to fancy big bottles to share. There's definitely something for everyone. The best experience is to buy a bottle, have a seat, and drink it there. The crowd is always super friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable. You'll feel like a regular on your first visit. This is a truly unique place and such a fun experience!
The owner, Greg was such a great sake master and very friendly! You can try to find new sake if you have a chance to visit. They can teach you to find what you may like. So many cool people gather here to find something fun! Make sure their closing time is - little bit early!
Best sake I’ve ever had!! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Great quality and variety for just about any palate. Truly a hidden gem!
Came here for my friends’ going away party, and was blown away by the shop. A true Japanese haven in Long Beach - worth the drive from DTLA! Great sake at reasonable prices, Orion beer on tap, and Greg - the owner - was a great host / friendly sake expert. Wednesday sake tastings from 4-7 pm! Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
What a gem of a place. It's rare these days to find a shop like this that is a bottle shop, drink on premise, and educational/fun. From everyone who may know nothing about sake to the expert sake connoisseur, this is a wonderful spot to experience great sake. Recommendations are spot on and Greg is a wealth of knowledge and generous with sharing the stories, history, and science of sake with everyone who comes in. Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Highly recommend to come check it out.
Absolutely fantastic Sake experience. From the moment we arrived we had a great time. We sat at the bar and tried a flight as well as a few specific pours of sake. Recommendations were perfect, conversation easy, and vibes on point. I highly recommend visiting if you have even a passive interest.
This is a great downtown neighborhood friendly location. They got a variety of different types of high quality sake. Even you are not into Sake you'll pyrobably find something according to your taste. Nice Sake and great specials. Sweet owner!
New spot to add to my neighborhood rotation! First time here was for their Kintsugi night which was paired with a 6 flight sake tasting. ALL sake was amazing and the owners were wonderful to talk to. They were so informative when answering our questions we had about the various tastings we had. My partner ended up buy three bottles and 3 smaller ones. Hopefully we can save up for their Omakase night!
Quaint "add on" sake bar inside the long Beach beer lab. For a small bar, it has lots of selection that's not easily found in regular stores. Greg who runs the place is genuinely interested in sake and is passionate about advocating the drink. Came by to try a couple of flights and they gave a good intro to some really tasty treats. Will definitely go back.
Finally got to visit after a long time of wanting to check this place out. It did not disappoint. I especially loved the tatami room. I experienced a multiple course sake tasting with Greg, who’s extremely warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable when it comes to all the sake brands. I was a little bit worried about finding parking since it’s downtown Long Beach but there’s a public parking structure literally next next to it on 5th street with the first 2 hrs free. Will definitely be back.
Wow! What an amazing experience to taste the finest sakes from Japan!! This place is inside the other brewery so I highly recommend checking it out. We learned so much about the history and brewing of sake and will come back again!! :) Plus, got to take a few sake home!
We tried the cool summer flight of sake and enjoyed all 4. The conversation with the owner was also great. He had lived in Japan and knew a lot about sake. The decor was simple but nice with a huge cat themed mural on the wall. We took a bottle home that was reasonably priced. We'll be back.
If you love to drink sake, Sake Secret is where it's at. They have a lot, and I mean a lot of different sakes to try. Greg, the owner, is beyond friendly and very knowledgeable about the sake you are questioning or drinking. If you want to buy sake, you are not going to find a place that has as much variety as Sake Secret. If you have never had sake or just drank house sake, Greg can introduce to you flavors you may not know existed in sake. Depending on your palate, you should be able to find a variety of bottles to try. For those that want to explore another Japanese flavor, they have shochu as well. You can even set up private events for the back room. I can't wait to go back to Long Beach just to go back and drink some more sake.
A very special place! The extraordinary variety of sake available is only surpassed by the knowledge of the staff. I've been to sake tasting places in Japan and this is competitive with those. A few interesting beers as well.
Fantastic place to learn about sake and drink many rare and unique sakes. Ran by great people and a fun crowd inside. Also, Japanese beers on tap!!
The best kept secret in long beach. They have the best selection and super knowledgeable staff. They host fun events and its just all around the best. We fell in love with Sake here. 1000% recommend.
Sake secret is a lovely sake bar and store. The owner has amazing knowledge of all sorts of sake and he really breaks it down for your understanding. On Wednesdays, they offer a free tasting, but they have paid tastings at all times. If you’re looking to learn more about sake, this is your place!
Sake Secret is Osaka meets LBC. The owner Greg is a world class person and business owner. ORION on tap! Unlike most Japanese beer in America ORION is brewed in Japan. On tap ORION is probably the most quality pint in town. Greg's sake selection, knowledge, and passion about sake fills his bottle shop with worldly travelers. Long Beach is lucky to have this jewel.
If you are interested in tasting and learning more about sake this is the place for you! There are free tastings on Wednesdays from 4-6 and the owner, Greg, can tell you all about the different breweries. Great local spot!
I was introduced to this place by a couple friends back when Greg was popping up at the brewery, and I could not be more pleased. A sake shop with a tasting bar, the curated selection has some more recognizable bottles, some more obscure, but always delicious. The tasting flights are a great way to learn more and expand your palate. The vibe is chill and inviting. Not to mention, Greg is one of the nicest and most genuine people whose passion for sake is contagious. We truly need more places like this!
