Covell Los Angeles Reviews
Stopped in here for the first time before heading to the Hollywood Bowl on a Saturday around 4pm. There was a crowd but it wasn't crowded. Plenty of space at the bar, where I sat. Bar tender was super attentive and friendly. Good selection of wines, very diverse, and bar tenders were knowledgeable based on convos I heard. I opted for a juicy IPA bc they have a nice rotating selection of about 8 beers on tap. Food selections is limited, this is more light fare/snacking. I opted for the charcuterie board with 3 selections of cheeses and meats for $23 (there are more options than that to choose from). Initially they thought that the one meat selection I wanted was out of stock but then half way through my board they found an unopened package and brought me out a plate on the house. They definitely didn't have to do that. Really enjoyed everything about this place, including the ambience which consisted of low key classic r&b. Highly recommend and will be coming back here with my gf.
Had a good stop-in at Covell with friends. We found an open table and enjoyed the ordering process - the bartenders are so kind and happy to allow you to taste the different wines. I ended up rocking their IPA on tap (Almanac brewing from Alameda) but they had a vast selection of wines + craft beers in cans as well. Good vibes, good lighting, soft music, perfect for a chill evening with friends!
This place is the tits. Amazing wine stellar staff sexy dark vibes but not unattainable! Really cute and fun. The food is *~fine*~ but always good for a little snacky whilst drinking
Cozy bar, good for small group/date/1-1 friend catchup. Good choice of different craft beers Perfect to check out if there's a wait for the restaurant you're trying! Would come back when in the area
Love this place! Totally chill atmosphere, perfect for a low key night out with close friends. They offer a selection of maybe about ten beers on tap and a couple in bottles, but their wine selection is impressively vast for such a quaint venue. For those who would like to order a glass of wine, you can either select one from their specials board or describe to the bartender the type of wine you’re in he mood for and they will bring you 2-3 wines to taste and choose from. So fun!
What a great place to come get either a glass of wine or a cold beer! Their food is way underrated and they have a bread pudding that is one of the best I have tried! The bar tenders are always so helpful and will guide you on which wine will be best for you. The crowd is always a good crowd and the service is always on point. Great for the start of a date, great to come have a drink after work, great for a friday night meetup spot. In other words: great for any occasion! The cheese plate is so good and you have many options to mix and match. You can even host small events in the secret bar! There is a lot of regulars that come to this place as it is one of the best spots in the area. They have a great rotation of draft beers and they also have a great number of canned beers. Their wine selection is extensive. They offer valet parking in case you are having trouble finding a parking spot.
Love the assortment of wines at Bar Covell 🫶🥂 great times, wines, atmosphere and staff.

A long overdue review but this is the best wine bar in LA, full stop. Every bartender actually cares about getting you a glass of wine that you’ll love and they really know their stuff too. This is a true neighborhood spot that feels so warm and welcoming. While so many LA spots are opening up that sell, like, 4 options of funky wines and calling themselves a wine bar, Covell feels like the real deal and has been for a while.
The wine is good, service is good, and they know how to pour a proper glass of wine. Easy 5 stars. Where they can still improve: food options. Heavy bar food. Cheese and carbs mostly. It's good, but some lighter, lean meat and veggie options would be great.
I hesitate to even give a rating as I dont want to blow up this spot. The bar tenders are knowledgeable and friendly. They make wine approachable, and the space it great. It's big enough but not so much that you will get lost in the shuffle. Love the rotating drink menu, but if you like consistency, maybe this isn't for you
This whole place is chill and cute as hell. The cheese board was gorg (its like pick 3, 4, or 5 of the cheese and meat options) and came with other accouterment!! Kaitlyn was INCREDIBLE!! She asked what our wine vibes were and pulled options for us to try — all of which were wonderful and totally in the families of what we wanted. I loved this place dearly and cant wait to go back. Perfect for a date night, first date, friend hang, solo vibe, or smaller gathering. Love love love Covell (and Kaitlyn) forever
This place is amazing! Not your typical wine bar. You can order specific wines but if you tell them what you like or in the mood for they'll pull 3 suggestions for you to taste. Super fun. Food is great although I wish they were a little more adventurous with the cheese & charcuterie selections.
Fantastic everything. The staff is very friendly and chill and they know their wine. They are very good at giving tastings and you can't go wrong with any choice. Their cheese plate is out of this world, one of the best culinary experiences I've had. It has great ambience with dim lighting and good music. During our two month stay in Los Feliz, we went here at least half a dozen times.
One of my fav places in LA. You get to try multiple options of what wine they have open to get something that you like. Always a great time and good vibes. Go early if you want more personalized service and to avoid a crowd. Knowledgeable staff.

god help you if you are stuck behind someone tasting their way through the menu while ordering. The other staff will eventually figure out that you've been standing around for a while and come save you, but it happens enough that maybe they should have a separate line for people who know what they want. I do come here enough that I can't say it's a deal breaker though. The outside seating is nice too if you bring more than a couple people.

Perfect little date spot. Highly knowledgeable staff that go the extra mile to help you find your perfect choice. Wish they had more food options. Nice outdoor seating as well

We had a 5 cheese board and 2 glasses of wine after tip over $100. We ordered at the bar and food was served at the table. The cheese selection was good, but the plating was minimal. I asked the bus boy for water, and he said ok and then proceeded to sit within view and scan his phone. I had to get the water myself from the bar. After I requested the water the buss boy tried to jump in front and get the water for me. Bad service practices, especially for such an expensive place. The chocolate dessert was dense and just ok. Bar tender allowed us to taste the wine before serving however the taste was tiny. Glad I tried but wouldn't return. The wine was good, small pour.

A wine bar needs a wine list. A wine enthusiast wants to know offering and prices to understand the curation effort at the wine bar. The ambience here is carefully constructed and its enjoyable for that reason. However, the actual wine and food experience is average.

The Covell boasts sidewalk seating, which is their prerogative. On the other hand, this privilege does not extend to them the right to commandeer the public right-of-way. When Covell employees deliberately choose to abuse their sidewalk seating privilege to block public access by positioning multiple heaters when the current outdoor temperature at noon is 76 Fahrenheit and the temperature at midnight, Covell's closing time, is projected to be 64 Fahrenheit specifically to block egress to my bicycle which was locked to a public guardrail adjacent to the public sidewalk is no less than the juvenile action of jerks. If you this attitude toward an anonymous member of the public excites you, then by all means be a guinea pig and find out for yourself if their service is better than the attitude they have demonstrated. Provided you look like you can afford a generous tip, I'm certain your experience will be different. As for their food: It's for the dogs!
