Lokal Los Angeles Reviews
best banh mi and viet coffee in west la hands down. i come from the 626 where viet food is plentiful and delicious, and viet food is very rare here in west la. but the banh mi, albeit more pricy than youd find in 626 or westminster, is well worth the price. theyre generous with the mayo and pate 🙏🙏🙏🙏 the viet coffee is creamy and strong and the condensed milk comes thru so nicely. highly recommend this place to all my friends missing a good banh mi. :)
On my quest to find LA.'s best coffee shop I stumbled upon this lovely place and it did not disappoint, the perfectly balanced Latte definitely made my day, service was very attentive.
Came during the morning about an hour and a half after they opened There are a variety of sandwiches from breakfast sandwiches to different types of banh mi. I settled for the KBBQ banh mi and it was pretty good! The bread on the inside is soft and firm and crispy on the outside. The kbbq meat itself was tasty as well! In general this is a pretty nice and cozy breakfast spot where you can get some work done and enjoy some nice food!
First time trying a Banh Mi Ribeye steak and it was soo good!
I love this place! I go to ucla and live down the street and it’s perfect for a quick bite in between going to class. The people who work there are so sweet and I usually have conversations with them every time I come and pick up an order. The Chimichurri steak sandwich is one of my fav sandwiches ever!! Shoutout to all the lovely people working there, I’ll always be a customer :)
I’ve been coming here for years! My fave sandwich spot! And nice place to eat there too.
Great sandwich place! We got the LOKAL DặC BIệT and Chicken Bahn Mi. Very tasty. This will be our go-to spot in the neighborhood for lunch. Yum!
Cute Sandwich shop in Venice LA. Stopped here for sandwiches...it was fresh and fulfilling.
Last time I was here I got the Korean Bbq Banh Mi with a nice Mexican Coca Cola in the glass bottle . It was really good and the price isn’t bad at all . I think I spent around 15 bucks .Also the people there are super sweet and they prepare everything fresh and quick . The coffee especially the Vietnamese Iced Coffee is better than Starbies ,pastries there are also a must have . LoKal is located in a tiny shopping center that has been there forever maybe over 50 years . The atmosphere is nice , (Palms)this neighborhood is really safe and a lot of people know eachother in the neighborhood. The parking is so so I can’t lie , but other than that , it’s on point , trust me if you’re a foodie this place won’t disappoint.
Great experience and delicious food!!! I had a large order to place for a production crew last week, I called a day in advance to confirm hours of operation. Spoke to Sunny who was delighted and eager to place my order in advance I mentioned I would call back once I was ready. I preferred to place the order over the phone so as to ensure I could make special dietary restriction requests and ask specific questions. I was pleasantly assisted by Paula who was patient and efficient in taking my order and answering any questions or requests. When I arrived the following day 10 min prior to scheduled pick up time my order was ready, packaged and I was assisted in carrying out. I was beyond impressed and grateful for how smooth everything turned out. **Extra love for her taking the time to label each order with the person's name. As a PA on set this is a huge bow of appreciation 🙌 made my job so much easier and organized. And finally most importantly everyone genuinely enjoyed their meals I had the Jungle sandwich with a fried egg and Thai tea it was delicious!! I can't wait to check them out again. Highly recommend!!
Huge fan of the tofu bahn mi. Been coming here for 2 years and it’s consistently good, the service is also always great. Also love the matcha latte and Vietnamese coffee here!
I’m local to lokal and this place never disappoints! I enjoy the breakfast burritos, avocado smoothie, lattes, and chipotle sandwich! There’s so much on the menu, but their super friendly staff and quality of the food keeps me coming back . It’s awesome that they are open early too
We go once or twice a week The banh mis are really good. Some of the other sandwiches are better than others but they're all quite nice; I really enjoy the Italian Job 2.0. I don't do coffee or smoothies so can't speak to them, but they sell well apparently. Cheery staff, fast service, indoor and outdoor tables.
Had take out from here for a small production I was on. I got the BBQ burger and it was delicious! Everyone loved their sandwiches from here. I definitely want to come back and try a banh mi
Ridiculously authentic and delicious Banh Mi place... Lots of other cool stuff. I get the K-bbq every time because I don't love pork. Super kind staff always! Awesome place. Must try in LA for sure.
Hidden treasure!!! Worth to drive to the area just for them! Fresh everything and real unsweatened green tea, just natural.
Love the Lokal Dac Biet Banh Mi (Old Skool) and their milk tea with boba. They always hit the spot! Everything is super consistent and tasty. Their milk tea boba is actually just as good as a boba shop. I got less sweet and less ice — it was perfect. There are two types of Dac biet you can get, one has more toppings like pork floss and more meat while the other is a more basic Dac biet. Read the description before you order to make sure you get the one you want. Chicken is also good. They have other food items too like sandwiches and pancakes. I just haven’t checked them out because I always get the banh mi — and honestly I don’t think I will. Nothing wrong on their part but the banh mi is too good and always exactly what I want. Most of the banh mi comes with mayo, pate, or both. They’re not always listed out when you’re ordering from an app. They allow modifications so just make sure you let them know somehow (either denote it or write it out in the online order text box).
This place is amazing. The food was excellent and the staff is awesome. Went there with my father who doesn't speak english and they were super helpful - tried their best to be friendly with him, even letting him taste some ingredient when I couldn't properly explain to him what it was. The food was great and with a good serving size (we ordered the Lokal banh mi and the chipotle chicken). Will definitely go back there again in my next visit to LA.
This cafe is a gem at this quiet and nice jogging area located near Cheviolet Hill West LA area. They have nice sandwiches but also specialty coffee on the menu. I went in and immediately receive warm welcome by the wonderful manager lady and of course I want to try the New Orleans coffee. Never disappointed me, it was so good not too strong she made it for me just right. Next time I go try their sandwiches food menu they offer its a rarity only place they have sandwiches Asian style in thst area can't wait to come back again. Nice friendship from the lady manager thanks a bunch for sure will be back.
Once upon a time I ordered online and added a pick up to my uber on the way to the airport. It was one of the best decisions in my life.
Randomly picked bc it was close, honestly all 6 of us LOVED our sandwiches. Probably the most flavorful sandwich I’ve ever had, we would highly recommend.
This is a very busy restaurant. We went here for lunch. Parking is a challenge. Store is very small. I could not find the restroom. We tried the Korean BBQ Banh Mi & the Tofu Banh Mi. It was delicious and flavorful. Team members were okay. We tried Mango smoothie and Vietnamese coffee as well
My favorite Banh Mi in town, grilled chicken and K-BBQ are both solid. Go for a Vietnamese Iced Coffee while you’re at it too. Plenty of seating. They have an afternoon happy hour too!
Stopped into Lokal and boy is this a busy sandwich shop. I had the Italian job sandwich. Really delicious! There is indoor as well as outdoor seating. Real cool music playing. This a fur baby friendly. I enjoyed the decor. Fresh cup of water for customers at the water station. Paula was wonderful and made feel like I was one of their regular customers. I’ll definitely will be back to enjoy the food and atmospheres! So many beautiful healthy plants.
The banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee were delicious! Service was excellent too! Highly recommend
Amazing sandwiches! They also have very yummy Vietnamese coffee 😋 We put a order ahead and it was ready right on time.
I ordered the chipotle chicken and soooo good. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had
love their banh mi sandwiches. theres a place next to me thats walking distance but i wont even go there bc this place is way better. My husband orders the Lokal đặc biệt. he got it once w an egg and once without. he says while really good with the egg, it's too messy. I usually order the veggie turkey.
We’re super lucky to have this little sandwich shop with delicious sandwiches. The baguette bread of my bbq bahn mi was perfect, and the bbq was sweet and savory. The chicken pesto is a favourite, too. They also stole my heart with their “Handmade with love” stickers. ❤️❤️❤️
Old Skool Banh Mi: great baguette, plenty of fresh ingredients, variety of meat Also got the Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi (great vegan option) paired with a solid lemonade and some tasty hot cakes.
Amazing veg breakfast options including the brioche sandwich that includes egg, cheese, and caramelized onions. I also had the Orleans iced coffee which is very sweet- they didn't ask what kind of milk but there are several vegan options which cost a bit more.
Banh Mi! And Me! Go, get some, they make it half a dozen different ways. I liked the tofu more than the BBQ pork, but both really good. Oolong tea to wash it all down was perfect.

Got this awesome chicken Banh Mi to go and added a fried egg. It was great. Everyone who works there was friendly and the sandwiches are some of the best I’ve had.
i’m always greeted with vibrant + genuine enthusiasm whenever i pick up my banh mi, no matter who’s working the counter. and on that note, the house banh mi (lokal dac biet) is such a fire, elevated iteration of a quick vietnamese go-to. i typically carry out, but the cafe seats a decent amount and even has a little ‘patio’ out front. consistently good!
We’re very frequent Lokal visitors. This place is such a gem, the people are so kind and the food is delish. Low prices for LA too! Try the Rustic with a Vietnamese coffee 😍
I can’t rave enough about the fabulous sandwiches created and served at Lokal. I’ve tried several of the breakfast sandwiches and I give them 9/10 with the exception of the breakfast banh mi which is a phenomenal 10/10. The espresso drinks are tasty and made up superbly. Service is wonderful and welcoming every time I walk in I’m greeted usually by name. I’ve yet to try all the items on the menu, next will be the spicy Italian sandwich. Yummmm
I ate the rustic it was an amazing toast . Service was fast they bring my table my to go packet !!!! They are so nice the boss boy he is gentleman and kind guy bro go try there . .🥰
Woooo weeeee!!! I've been looking for a Great Bành mì since the Phamish truck closed. They make a killer k BBQ beef bành mì sandwich! Im glad I found this place, I've been looking for 3 years for a place, this is now my home pastries are fire beer is killer prices are reasonable. I recommend you come enjoy.
Love this place. Delicious food. Chill staff. One of my favorite lunches in Los Angeles.

I would have given three stars but being honest the Steak Sandwich I ordered was good! There was not one customer in the shop when I arrived but I was not greeted for a few minutes. The cashier was acting strangely, I am assuming she thought I was into her (If you are reading this I’m not) my sandwich was good and I got a weird strawberry lemonade that taste nothing like strawberries but the presentation was nice. Basically in a nutshell food good customer service ehhh..
Good Banh mi place, large servings which was nice. Had the cold cut Banh mi and it was good but the meat needed more flavor? Maybe pate butter?
Very decent Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches. The soft baguette was a major plus. They have some unique options like their Korean BBQ or Al Pastor Banh Mi. I noticed they also have breakfast sandwiches and other type of non-banh mi sandwiches on regular bread, pancakes and breakfast burritos..wow an all in one place! I ordered the BBQ pork banh mi sandwich. If I was craving a banh mi again and didn't want to go all the way to garden grove then I would definitely go back.

Love this neighborhood sandwich shop. Breakfast sammies are pretty decent as are their bahn mi choices. Coffees are adequate and they have good tea, and smoothie selections.
Everyone is very nice and efficient and the restaurant is clean with good interior design. Unfortunately the food was expensive and flavorless. $6.50 for a Strawberry Banana smoothie with no bananas in it. It tasted like two strawberries blended with a cup of ice. I had a version with no simple syrup added, but would not make much difference if it was mainly composed of fruit but it was mostly just ice. Banh Mi was ok, but very bland for . For a $29 lunch I expected Vietnamese food that was full of flavor but I didn't get it.
Food is old and smells werid I asked the lady at the register if they had fresh chocolate Croissants she said no she only had the ones from two days ago which she gave me for free but were hard as a rock & when I ordered my sandwich the meat was very bitter and tangy I didn't really like it you can tell the food was either sitting out for awhile or just old I don't recommend this establishment.
I’ve been excited to check this place out for a long time. It’s always busy which is usually a good sign. First red flag was they asked for a tip at the beginning when I ordered at the counter. I assumed it was standard service where they would deliver the food to the table. I had to get the food from the counter and throw my food away. What am I tipping for if I’m required to do everything myself? I felt like I was tricked into giving a tip. They should be more clear that they will not do anything for you. On top of that, my bahn mi was 15 dollars and was very small and dry and had almost no sauce. I was very disappointed in my experience here.
As a lover of bahn mi I’m really surprised this place has high reviews. I ordered the original and K BBQ bahn mi and both were so bland and lacking in flavor. Every bite the strongest flavor was the baguette. Who eats bahn mi to just have the taste of toasted bread in their mouth? Water pitcher was also empty for the duration of our time there even after we notified the staff. Not to mention we told them we were eating at the restaurant and they still wrapped our food to go, and just handed us wrapped sandwiches, while everyone else eating in the store (before and after us) received their food on a plate with napkins. It was just very strange and weird especially when all we did was walk in, order, pay and tipped them (!!), and then got below average service? We even bussed our own table at the end (which I’m fine doing), but in the end the overall experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. I will not returning here.
Probably the worst bahn mi(the old skool) I’ve had that said it’s not terrible more like a lower average just not as good as any other one I’ve had and the meat portion is pretty stingy. And the drinks really felt like a rip off picture attached came half way full/ half empty and the extra charge for milk sub made it offensive. If you got money to burn the taro is good, the horchata is decent but hard to find good horchata so if you hadn’t had any in a while def hits the spot but didn’t finish it…yes the half cup went unfinished so no bueno. I hate doing bad reviews.
