Super delicious! I had the boeuf bourguignon and found it to be absolutely delightful, from the tender short rib and perfectly cooked pasta to the flavorful, rich sauce and fresh vegetables. The portion size is generous as well. If you love French cuisine, I highly recommend this restaurant for anything from a casual dinner to a romantic night out.

Monsieur Marcel is one of LA’s finest gourmet grocers. The staff is extraordinary - attentive to your every need and experts at all the wonderful products. I came here today to pick up a few items that have been on my shopping list - things that are a little obscure and somewhat hard to find just anywhere. Today was my first visit in several years (mostly due to moving away for a while). I found the items on my shopping list, was pleasantly surprised to find some European favorites that I never thought I’d see here in the states, and was even given a complimentary package of hot chocolate by the store owner (to test run with my kids). Chatting with the delightful owner was the highlight of the visit - it is clear she is passionate about all the wonderful goods she curates and sells. Will need to make Monsieur Marcel a more regular part of my shopping rounds. There really is no excuse not to with free validated parking.

Very quick shipping and thoughtful packaging!! I live on the east coast and was pleasantly surprised my large package of crackers and French chocolates were all in good shape ! Thank you so much! Five stars from Virginia!

Excellent cheese counter with some items that I've never seen anywhere else in LA as well as more "normal" imported items. The restaurant is also great with authentic cheese fondue and nice seating in the isles of the Original Farmers Market.

I have been shopping here for many years. And they always amaze me. The staff are SO friendly and kind. And they have the best seasonal items of any store in LA. From Christmas pannetone, to Easter treats. I was there a few days ago, and someone recommended a new brand of chocolate truffles. A good sized box for under $13, and they are absolutely addictive! Great wine selection. Not to mention the restaurant food and sandwiches. Thanks MM, for making everyone’s day a bit happier!

More than just a place to eat. This place isn't just a bistro: it's part of a larger gourmet market, so you can enjoy fine cheeses, wines, and imported European specialties. One of my favorite French bistros in LA.

Found this gem while visiting from Miami and absolutely loved it from the moment when we walked in. The main host Chris was so helpful and accommodating. He was the highlight of our dining experience. He sat us at a lovely spot at the bar so we can sip on some bubbles and people watch. He brought so much professionalism when we asked him questions and he knew the menu and wine selection better than any place I’ve been to. Thank you for having wonderful people to care about the experience we got to enjoy. Food, wine, and even the market were wonderful.

We had a delicious lunch and some dessert after a day of shopping at Monsieur Marcel French bistro. There’s a shop attached to the cafe as well. It was great to sit and have food while people watching at the market.

Stopped by the Farmers Market for a bite and saw Monsieur Marcel which I haven't been to in a long time. They have expanded and now for dining, have a little covered alcove, a lot of outside (but covered tables and a bar area with seating. We were seated right away. The staff is very friendly and helpful (and French). It has a nice French feel to the space and you can image this in Paris. Or LA, as it is in the middle of the market. We ordered a baguette (with French butter) and two entrées. The beef bourguignon and the steak frites, both so French! The bourguignon was served with pappardelle noodles. The steak was a rib eye with shoestring frites (I prefer the thicker more traditional frites) with peppercorn sauce. Along with a couple of glasses of the house red blend (generous puors too). The winner was the bourguignon. Very tasty, tender meat and well seasoned. It fit well with the pappardelle noodles too. A great sauce for the bread. The steak frites, while tender, was not the best I have had. It could have had a little more seasoning. But I would certainly try it again (another note for thicker frites too). For desert we had the chocolate mousse. Very chocolaty and served with whipped cream (Chantilly?) on top. All in all a most enjoyable meal in a wonderful location. The servers were all helpful and we were never rushed at all. We of course had to go into their gourmet market afterwords for some additional French treats!

The bistro transports you to the streets of Paris with amazing food, vibes, and service. The menu is authentic and offers lots of delicious French dishes. The market has so many items and is interesting to just browse around. Also the seafood is super fresh and delicious. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I had a truly magical Valentine's Day dinner at Monsieur Marcel Bistro! We almost stayed home, but a class our daughter was attending nearby prompted us to give it a shot – and we are so incredibly glad we did! From the moment we sat down, we were met with stellar customer service, a delightful surprise considering the usual Valentine's Day rush. The ambiance was perfect – romantic and cozy, a charming oasis even within the bustling Farmer's Market, complete with live French music. Our server was impeccable: attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. We were particularly impressed by their willingness to let us sample all the wines we inquired about, rather than just a select few. We started with the sautéed calamari, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the French onion soup, a perfect balance of rich broth, melted cheese, and perfectly toasted bread. For our main course, we shared a seafood tower that was absolutely divine – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional customer service. We mentioned to the manager a French dessert wine we'd recently enjoyed but couldn't find locally. Not only did she go into the market to find a similar varietal for us to purchase, but she also generously poured us a sample of their own dessert wine to try! This attention to detail and above-and-beyond service is a rare find these days. Monsieur Marcel Bistro completely exceeded our expectations and made our Valentine's Day truly special. We will definitely be back!

Had a lovely lunch here last week with my wife while visiting. Saw good reviews on Reddit and the place didn’t let me down. Escargot was piping hot, well seasoned and tender. Mexican shrimp with the cocktail sauce and horseradish was super fresh. My wife had the salmon fumé sandwich. Bread was light, salmon was amazing, and the capers added some nice salt. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and the baguette was incredible. The chicken was cooked nicely and the cheese + pesto made this a damn good sandwich. Enjoyed some coffees and white wine along with the exceptional service from our server, Patrick. Overall a really nice lunch and would love to go back!

One of me and my family's favorite places in LA not to mention the original farmers market. Love the seafood towers, the steak frites, soupe au pistou, fresh oysters, everything. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.

What an extraordinary place! A gourmet grocery store focused on France, with house goods, alcoholic beverages, all kinds of shelf stable foods, and a cheese counter that is the stuff of dreams. Everyone is super nice. I asked after apple brandy and ciders and had a man provide incredible knowledge about what was available and how it tasted. At the honey, an employee asked permission to tell me about his favorites, and when I gave it, he geeked out in the most delightful way. I had to buy more honey based on his recommendations. The woman at the cheese counter was helpful and kind, even giving me a sample of a cheese that I was already excited to find. We spent more money than anticipated, but have no regrets.

I normally love coming to this store, perusing the aisles, reading labels, enjoying the variety of unusual items on display. This evening, however, the employee working the floor followed me around the candy and holiday sections almost the entire time I was there. It made for quite an awkward and inhospitable shopping experience. I only ended up buying 2 items, as the employee’s unrelenting proximity to me was so disconcerting. This negative experience aside, M. Marcel remains one of my favorite stops when I visit the Farmer’s Market/Grove.

We took my mother in law here for the first time. We had just visited France and she had high expectations for the Beef bourguignon. We both enjoyed the texture of the meat but felt the noodles were an interesting choice and were difficult to pick up. She said she would have preferred polenta. The broth seemed to have very limited burgundy wine but still nice. My partner loved his streak frites and said it was cooked perfectly. The crème brûlée was nice and a good size. It did seem odd dogs were allowed in the interior dining area as it was a very small space. A large dog was laying in the exit area next to us just as we were about to sign bill making it awkward for everyone.

Monsieur Marcel is a French staple in LA! The bistro is my favorite place to dine in the Farmers Market at The Grove. The service is always great and when visiting on Sunday I had THE BEST service from our waitress who was from Paris. She even shared with us a list of her favorite places to visit in Paris… who does that?! The market is separate from the bistro and it has some great finds but the service isn’t nearly as spectacular as the bistro. My friends and I felt very uncomfortable by how much the staff at the market rushed us out because they were all antsy to close at 8pm. Sorry we were spending almost $200 on 5-6 items… we know it’s super inconvenient for you. They’re definitely nicer so long as it’s not near the time they are closing but not stellar like the staff at the bistro!

I dined at Monsieur Marcel and tried the white wine, fondue, kale Caesar salad, and oysters. The kale Caesar salad and oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and I really enjoyed them. However, the fondue wasn’t quite to my taste; the cheese flavor was quite strong, and it had an earthy note that was a bit too intense for me. Overall, the food was tasty, though I did notice that the bread arrived almost after we had finished most of it.

We had the dinner with our friend there. I should say it’s nice to have the good feeling surrounding in farmers market, even it’s not very French. The menu is good. Not very big so it’s easy to navigate what to order. To be honest, the cheese and meat board is a little disappointing by the size and price. Three choice set is $23 and the items are quite small. The main dishes are good but also quite small. The service was very good. We really appreciate that.

Good selection, higher prices, but that’s to be expected. The biggest negative is that me and my partner got the feeling that we were profiled as a shoplifting risk immediately as we entered the store. Sales associates basically glued to us the entire time, commenting on the items we picked up and generally “keeping an eye” on us. We paid for our items like anyone else, so that ruined an otherwise fine shopping experience.

Bought the sandwich which was good but when we asked for some water the lady was very rude and said that they did not have any and that I had to buy it from the store next door. It seems very odd that a fully licensed bar does not serve water. When I looked around, all the tables had glasses of water served to them.
