Salaya Los Angeles Reviews
Fresh, authentic, legit flavors. My fave is the Kao Mung Gai (Hainanese Chicken with rice). The boat noodles are a pretty good plant-based version too. Loving the Duck noodle soup & the Larb with crispy chicken!!! Yummm What a treat to have found this place! Highly recommended! They also do fusion Japanese too with crispy rice spicy tuna or salmon.
I'm not vegan but I have friends who are and this is the best vegan restaurant and one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to in the US. The corn cakes, salads, crispy fish panang curry are to die for. The staff are extremely kind and polite. They are very honest about the amount of food you will need. My friend and I enjoyed our lunch here and would definitely visit again.
Wow! This place was amazing! This is the best Thai food we’ve had in L.A., by far. Every dish was outstanding, and the service was prompt and very friendly. We had the steamed dumplings to start - delicious. Then the Salad Rolls, Papaya Salad, Green Curry Dumplings, Penang Curry and more. My partner and I agreed that each dish was a 10/10. I couldn’t stop to take photos because the food was too good to wait to take a photo! Do yourself a favor and eat or order from Salaya!
I was in LA for a long weekend. A friend recommended I give this place a shot. On 3/8 I ate lunch here. I ordered the Chicken sate appetizer, which was good. My main dish was Spicy Basil Calamari w/rice, which was ridiculously good, and is one of the best Thai dishes that I've ever had. Which is saying something, as I've had the great fortune to have eaten a number of good Thai dishes. The levels of hot for the Calamari dish were mild, medium or spicy. I asked for spicy, and they absolutely nailed it. You could feel the fire in every bite; yet, the flavor still came through. My server was sweet, kind and very attentive.
I ordered the garlic green beans with the pepper steak on UberEats. FIRE! I also got the brussel sprouts and they too were fire! The crispy garlic oil was a nice addition on my white rice as well.
I love this place! Located in Thai town, it's entirely plant based but tasted just like the real thing. I had the Basil crispy chicken and it was to die for, the best crispy chicken i've ever had and it was plant protein. The vegetables are perfect, still fresh and crispy and the sauce is perfectly balanced and not masking the taste. Rice was excellent as well. The owners clearly know what they are doing and i just hope to see this restaurant branch out. You're welcome to open up a restaurant in Palm Springs anytime!
Today was my first time there for lunch with a friend and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! We had crispy rice salad that was fresh, crunchy, gingery! Orange “chicken”, pad Thai, spring rolls and “chicken” sate. Everything was fresh, delicious and bursting with flavor! Manu is impressive and we already made plans to go back and try every item, ha! Great service, quiet ambiance, friendly staff. As a vegetarian, it was refreshing not to worry about ingredients and just enjoy a very good meal. Portions are nice size and we each brought home a box - which was enough for dinner! Definitely recommend and can’t wait to be back! We were too full to do any dessert , looking forward to trying it next time!
Ordered pad thai and pad prik khing and was not disappointed! It was delicious, my picky mom told me to get it again next time. Love that it is plant based as I am not used to eating a lot of meat. Highley recommend and relatively affordable. Had previously tried their wings and were just as amazing!
Instantly a new favorite! The online ordering and pick up was simple and organized. The food was AMAZING! I had a flavorful meal filled with high quality everything (the sauce, bun, fries, etc.); no detail was overlooked. Also love the story of this place. I will definitely eat here again and bring friends.
Amazing delicious selection of vegan Thai food in the heart of Hollywood Beautiful modern interior and great service. Street parking tricky but worth it. A must try.
I used to live in the neighborhood and regret not trying it until right before I moved out of state. I came back for a visot and was the first spot i went to. Delicious food and vegetarian friendly
Beat Thai food in town. Vegan or not. Spicy garlic noodle and the crispy chicken noodles are my go to and I always start with the corn cakes and a good tom yum soup
OMG OMG OMG! One of THE BEST thai food I had ever had. This is a very cute place with very nice environment and quick great service. We ordered spicy fried rice, prik king fried rice and spicy garlic fried rice and each one of them is DELICIOUS! Definitely recommend this place for Thai cuisine lovers. Thank you Salaya for great food and amazing experience!
The first time I tried out Salaya was during Covid 2021 and they were offering take out only. I remember my experience of the food being Just OK. Well.. couple of years later, I’ve re discovered Salaya and couldn’t be happier! Their dishes really shine and are one of the better Vegan Thai fusion restaurants in town. Veggie Spring Rolls - Love that they add baked tofu inside. Really gives it more oomph than all veggies or even standard uncooked tofu. The sauce is heavier on the coconut side rather than peanut but still delicious either way. Orange Chicken - Soy chicken tossed in the perfect amount of sauce. Sometimes at other restaurants its too much and takes away from the crispness of the soy chicken. Salaya does it well. Pad See Ew or Spicy Garlic Noodles (i forgot which one) - Really great portion, greta variety of veggies and soy protein. Filling and tasty. Great standard noodle dish. Can’t go wrong.
Ordered delivery via Postmates and was not disappointed! Food arrived earlier than expected, was flavorful with the right amount of spice, and the leftovers warmed up perfectly for lunch today. Highly recommend the pad kee mao if you’re looking for a noodle dish. The mango sticky rice was also delicious!
This place far exceeded any expectations I had going into it. Their menu is very extensive and I really wanted to try everything because it all sounded so good, with a lot of dishes you seldom can find on the menu of vegetarian restaurants. What I ordered was the papaya salad, the Kao Soi, and the tofu Laab. It was all very very good. The portions were extremely generous as well, I left with enough food for easily another meal. And the prices were quite reasonable. I can not wait to come back again and bring some friends with me next time. This is for sure my new favorite vegetarian spot in LA!
This place was great, had a very expansive menu. I was craving a burger, my partner was craving sushi. This place has both! And so much more. All vegan. We got fries, chikn wings and sushi! Hahaha it was great. Friendly staff, and a quiet atmosphere. There was street parking and a few spots in the lot.
A nice peace full vibe. The music was pretty good. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. You can get noodles, burgers and sandwhiches, rice plates, curry, etc. The staff was very friendly and recommended the food I got out of the burger and sandwich section of the menu. I got the Chicken Po'Boy sandwhich with sweet potato fries. The portion was a good size, and the food itself was very tasty. I will be back. Update- I came back and got the Crispy Chicken noodles made spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶, with crushed peanuts, yellow noodles, bok choy, crispy wonton, and broth. It was delicious. I love the vibe here. 👌✨️
All aboard to this "casual fast" awesome plant-based restaurant in the heart of Los Angeles' Thai Town district neighborhood in East Hollywood. I'm obsessed with the Thai Jerk Wings and Pad See Ew, but honestly the entirety of the menu: Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Entree, Appetizers, Sushi, Ramen, Bowls and honestly so much savory not mention sweets #VeganCremeBrulee #VeganIceCream #VeganEverything They have a shared parking lot and local street parking available as well as restrooms for customers. Salaya's IG isn't currently active, but it's got great content like their FB. Would love to see them do and shine a bit more and stick around for even more years to come. Their service is incredible. The vibes are awesome. Sail into Salaya Plant Based Kitchen.
They make food for soul- like literally as it's vegan, but also, it tastes so delicious. They have a clean, cute dine-in place, and the people are polite and welcoming. Their menu is versatile in cuisine options. They also have food ranging from flavorful and healthy comfort food like salads, etc. to the tasty fun fast food loaded with cheese and stuff. The food was so good that my partner and I got some packed for your trip back home. All the food we ordered was fantastic, but I want to give a special mention to their thai curries, noodles, and the cheese+caramelized onion loaded fries. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant as you continue making compassionate choices and working on leaving a kinder and greener world for future generations. Please follow me on @veganchefkiwi for more vegan place/product reviews and my recipes. Thank you! ♥️
After a good weekend of eating tacos and great Mexican food I like to end my LA trips with some plant based food. Chow main is amazing must have. Plant based orange chicken is amazing 10/10 hard to spot the difference from real chicken. Also the plant bases buffalo wings a must. To drink I recommend the Thai tea.
Great Vegan location to eat at! Everything on the menu is vegan and so tasty!
I think they have a thoroughly impressive vegan menu that prominently features Thai food. Meals come with a protein in the form of plant-based beef or chicken, or tofu, and even vegan fish options. I noticed some American food like burgers and some Japanese food like ramen and sushi on the menu, too. There's tables and booths in a pretty spacious interior with a high ceiling. It's a bright and welcoming space and the service is quick. I asked a loaded question - which eggplant dish is better? - and although that's pretty subjective language to impose on waitstaff, they humored me. I was not led astray and was recommended the Eggplant Pad Phrink. That dish is battered eggplant in spicy red curry sauce, bell peppers, young pepper corn and basil. Since I love gobbling down eggplants, next time I'll have the Spicy Eggplant (stir-fried eggplant in sauce with peppers). Their Eggplant Pad Phrink really is perfectly dense and delicious! Everything was fresh-tasting and hot (temperature) and great. In regard to other hotness, we were asked what spice level we wanted, and they appropriately toned it down to mild for us. My friend and I devoured the empanadas and corn cakes as appetizers. Those are both MUST HAVES, and I will be ordering them again. I tried my friend's Salaya Pumpkin that they ordered with a beef protein, and it was also tasty. I can't wait to come back!
What a vegetarian gem serving delicious Thai food in a modern/cool ambiance. Service was friendly and efficient and everything we ate was very good, including the brown rice we ordered on the side. We ate from the Thai menu, but they have several other options across Japanese, Chinese, and American cuisines. Even if you are not vegetarian you would love the food here, and you will be doing your heart, mind, and body a huge favor as it is all plant based. But, after eating at a place like this you honestly do not miss the meat 🙂
I’m not vegan and usually skip vegan places because I have a misconception that the food is often more expensive and less tasty. I stumbled onto this place because the place next to it was closed and it has quickly become a favorite and honestly my top choice for Thai food. The pad see ew was the tastiest dish I’ve ever had and the vegan chicken was great. I recently also tried their Tom kha and it’s perfect. I love that they add chunks of tomatoes to it. Super flavor and affordable! ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
Casual vegan restaurant with Asian cuisine spanning Thai, Chinese, Japanese and more. Menu is all vegan, and has a lot on it - from fancy sushi rolls, to wings, curries, stir fries, rice bowls, and more. The food we had is what I’d classify as “vegan junk food,” heavily fried and not very healthy, but super tasty. We ordered the hot wings, the orange chicken, and the Tom yum fried rice. The orange chicken was good, sweet and savory. For dessert ordered the mango sticky rice which was 💣, really yummy. Got home and needed a nap 😴 Staff was friendly. Food was good. Definitely wouldn’t be able to eat this sort of food every day but was a nice treat.
This has got to be the best food I’ve had in a very long time. The atmosphere is immaculate, everything came out so fast. The Kua Kling Beyond beef from the signature dishes was mind blowing, such complex and rich flavors. I already can’t wait to come back 🫶🏻I live so close and I’m mad it took me this long to discover this place.
I first tried this place via Uber Eats and had to come in person. It is a very cute restaurant and everyone is so nice. They don't have the most seating, but it wasn't too crowded so there was some still available. I love that the whole menu is vegan!! However, there is gluten in a many dishes FYI. They have a vast menu however, so there's definitely something for everyone. I've never been disappointed with anything I've tried and I've ordered delivery from them a lot, so to have it fresh in person was an absolute treat. Please get their orange chicken! You'll be so happy you did.

This place is so cute! Everything is vegan and so yummy! I also don’t eat gluten. Thankfully, it was so easy to make some things gluten free :) The rolls were super fresh and everything was flavorful! We loved our time here.
We believe this is one of the best vegan restaurants in LA and is incredibly underrated. The flavors, especially the Thai dishes, taste very authentic. We keep coming back to try new dishes and are always impressed. Great value as well!
Amazing food and amazing service. Curry was extremely delicious! I ordered avacado green curry and it was unbelievably tasty!!! Highly highly recommend.
Excellent service. Each dish was phenomenal. I really enjoyed Prik King Fried Rice with vegan steak, yellow curry, garlic noodles, and duck curry. Each dish packed a unique punch. Will return for more 🤤
Randomly decided to go here for dinner... DAMN. It's some pretty great food. As a vegetarian - this place is top notch. Tastes good and doesn't try to "make vegetarian food taste like meat" - at least for the stuff I ordered anyway. And I appreciate that ! Genuinely great vegetarian food. Service was lightning fast as well. Price was great. If you haven't been - go !
I just ordered take out. I got the crispy chicken with rice, mango with sticky rice and a Thai iced tea. Everything was phenomenal. Can’t wait to order again or drop in with friends. So so good!
As a regular meat eater, I need to say Salaya has the best Chick’n wings I’ve ever had, feaux meat or real. Service is perfect beyond comparison, and whenever I visit LA I make sure to stop here at least once if not two or three times, it’s just that good (their curries are equally so full of flavor, you cannot go wrong whichever one your choose). PLEASE give them a chance to convert you into a regular!

Salaya Plant Based Kitchen is an really good plant based restaurant. 4.5 from 5 stars in total. Always again.
I wish I’d given this cute place all 5 stars for creativity: all Vegan Dishes in big menu from across Asia. But: food very yummy (dumplings) but served very hot - I almost burned my mouth. Empanadas we’re weirdly sweet, the salty sauce were missing. Try their coconuts - one the best ones. Service - understaffed and poor English. Atmosphere: very cold 🥶 We felt unattended.

When I arrived to pick up my order, I was told it would take "15-20 minutes." I waited that long, and then, without any explanation, they asked for another 15-20 minutes. This level of unplanned behavior and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. If an order takes this long to prepare, the correct time should be stated upfront. I regret wasting my time. I will never choose this restaurant again.
