I love Sushi. I love high quality sushi. Los Angeles offers a different level of sushi across the board. I used to hear a lot about this place, but never got around to trying it until recently. Wow. Excellent Japanese Omakase experience. Superlative blue fin tuna, maybe one of the top tuna bites of my life. Staff were attentive and friendly. It was a subdued atmosphere but it was also a quieter night during the week. The fish and variety were delectable and memorable.

Exceptional quality food! Very fresh fish that literally melts in your mouth! 5 out of 5!

Solid sushi place, relaxed vibe and pretty good service. We got the Japanese Omakase set, and the standouts were the uni, tuna, and snapper. The octopus and scallop were great as well. Not a bad value for everything that you get, so would recommend it you want Omakase without breaking the bank

What an amazing traditional Japanese sushi experience! I love it and they have lunch specials which provide a great deal too! The waitresses are friendly and helpful and the omakase is delicious! They will even tailor it to your appetite! If you're full, they'll adjust the price. There is parking in the lot right next to them. Definitely a go to and will be back!

Simply the best sushi place in California. Incredible quality and service, perfect portions and mix of flavors.

Good fresh sushi and wide selection. Good appetizers in the Japanese course but amounts not consistent every-time I go. Wish they would change the menu sometimes but course never disappoints.

Had the omasake menu for lunch, chose the exotic option and had a blast. Every dish was interesting, and also tasted so good. A great traditional option when looking for some sushi

First omakase experience, and definitely they offer the best sushi ever! Totally recommend it!

This place was very good. The sushi was fresh and the service was great. They caution you when seating that they are a traditional sushi restaurant so they don’t sell rolls, they even have a sign in the front letting you know.

The lunch omikase served was: Albacore sashimi; sushi bf, bf Toro, halibut, red snapper; oyster, mushroom scallop, mussel; sushi salmon, yellowtail, Bonito, scallop; amberjack, albacore, butterfish; crab handroll. I particularly like the salmon, both bluefin, amberjack, Bonito sushis and the albacore sashimi. Absolutely top notch fish. Was 115$. Cost can vary a bit depending what they served you. Lunch specials available. No California rolls and no spicy tuna!

Got here at 6pm on Wednesday and happen to beat the dinner rush at started at 630! Love that they don’t do the normal rolls and tell you about each piece when delivered. Also they recommend if you should do soy on a piece or not, which was new for me. Really makes it an elevated experience.

I love ordering a la carte nigiri sushi here - it's always so fresh and we'll made. The toro and kanpachi are particular standouts to me.

The sushi melts in your mouth, rice cooked perfectly. Try the chef’s speciality menu. Fabulous! Will definitely be back again!

Sasabune is top tier quality. Their dishes have the perfect ratio, and taste balance. It's perfection, and after I ate there once, all of the other Japanese restaurants I've had just can't compare. Oh and they have real wasabi, which makes a big difference (it has a hint of sweet, with hint of earthy / herbal flavor).

Fresh and nice quality fish but nothing that special. A little too expensive for tiny portion. Can easily find this at better price elsewhere.

Haven’t been here in a while but I swear the lunch special had a better offering a couple years ago. The quality of the fish is still on point and fresh but the amount you get leaves most people hungry after the meal. Was greeted and just asked if we had been here before and gave no menu. We went with the tried and true lunch special but was surprised that it only came with… Small soup and salad 3 pieces nigiri (sushi) 1 chirashi style bowl (sashimi on rice, nothing else) 1 roll All for $39 or really $50 with tax and tip

Decided to go for omakase sushi for the night and came to Sasabune Sushi which do ala carte, omakase (standard and premium) version. Sashimi was fresh and some tasted even fresher than the one I have in Japan which was amazing. The sweetness of the seafood was worth the amount paid.

PICS IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER. Lunch special. Here my honest review! Pulled up to Sasabune, drippin’ in heat, Salmon, albacore, tuna—can’t be beat, Buttery smooth, that sushi so tight, Every single bite had me high on the flight. Albacore donburi? Man, that rice was weak, Weird lettuce on top, that ain’t my peak, But that blue crab roll? Straight up crack, Flavors on point, no cap, that’s a fact. Chef in the back, like a samurai boss, Blade in his hand, no time for loss, Every cut clean, like a ninja on grind, Fish under attack, sharp in his mind. Hostess said, “No Cali rolls, we keep it real, Straight up like home, that’s the deal u feel,” Server slid through, showed me how to flex, Soy on the salmon, tuna gets no checks. Service on lock, they move like pros, Sasabune’s got that hustle, everybody knows, Lunch was cool, just tweak that plate, Crab roll’s king, can’t underestimate, Sushi Sasabune, got that vibe, I’ll be back soon, best believe I’ll slide. Thanks

I love Omakase restaurants that make me feel excited waiting for the chef prepare the next course. Unfortunately this place didn't make the cut. Don't get me wrong. Most sushi was good and the fish was fresh, but nothing was truly exceptional. There were not any innovative flavor combinations between the ingredients that I haven't encountered before. More importantly, I didn't feel like the course was designed in a particular way to create a harmonious dining experience. For example, I find it odd that they don't include any starter or desserts in our course. The wait time between each course was also very long for no reason. Overall, it's an average experience for me.

First things first, the fish is great. The rice is warm. There might be too much emphasis on saucing their nigiri but I’m not going to argue with the chef. My biggest takeaway and the reason I’d never go back is that the service is bad in the worst way that service can fail a customer and that is by being purposefully obtuse. Came in for lunch. Greeted immediately by a server who proudly pointed out their very visible signage about not making tempura or California rolls, which love the policy, but I don’t need you to point out the giant sign. Being made to feel like rube isn’t a great start. Then you’re told there’s a lunch special and a chef special. Cool. Get seated. No menu. Water comes and then the question “are you ready to order?” No, because I have no idea what’s going on. My wife asks what the difference between the chef special and the lunch special is and is told “the lunch special is a special for lunch” and at this point I want to walk into the ocean and catch my own fish. You’re a sushi restaurant that is open for lunch on a Monday on Wilshire Blvd in West Los Angeles. Meet the customer halfway and just give them a piece of paper with their ordering options.
