Slapfish Los Angeles Reviews
Gotta say, the grilled fish taco was beyond my expectations. They served it with a knife and fork which I tried to forego, but they were necessary. The tartare sauce was absolutely decadent. Best food I've found in an airport! Their bar charges much less for a drink than others do in the terminal.
Tried of everyone whining about airport prices. You should know that it's always been this way in airports and giving a low review just because of that is vicious. Shame on you.
Had the fish tacos and they were delicious. The fish was pleasantly too big for the tortillas. Typical airport prices, but much better flavor than expected. Would come again.
Slapfish is my LAX go-to, and yes, it started because I’m a full-blown pickle fiend. The fact that you can order an entire tray of pickle spears- not fried (though they have those too and they are great!), not fancy, just straight-up pickles- is already elite behavior. But let’s be clear: that’s not why this place is special. What makes Slapfish an absolute gem is Esme, their main bartender. She somehow remembers exactly what I get every time, which makes walking in feel less like an airport stop and more like seeing a friend. She’s warm, kind, and consistently goes above and beyond anything I’ve experienced at an airport bar (or honestly… most bars, period). If you’re lucky enough to catch Esme behind the bar, you’re in for great drinks, great vibes, and the comforting feeling of someone friendly in the chaos of LAX. Pickles brought me in. Esme is why I love coming back. (pic of said pickles included- don’t sleep on these if you are a pickle fiend like me!)

I stumbled upon this place in the LA Airport leaving a month long 🇮🇹 trip and was craving some American greasy food. I stopped and had a late lunch. Of course my stomach was bigger than my eyes. I did like the dish and chips but it was a bit greasy. The clam cowder was great.
Plane delayed, phone need charging, people watching boring. Time to chew. I feel for something light. That's the new game plan now eat light while traveling. You know plane breaks. I do not have to spell it out... PRIVACY, LOL. Whoever says food at the airport is not tasty is lying. Fish and chips, no chips, maybe bread. The cashier suggests a garden salad. My hesitation, I chose grilled white fish over fresh, crisp garden salad. The sauce was interesting and good, light and healthy meal. Pricey but well worth it [SlapfishX]LAX
Automatic 18% tip added to your bill when ordering food at the order window. Confused how and why this is allowed but anywho. Bill was $100.09 for a shrimp and chicken bowl, a skrewdriver and a breakfast burrito 🌯. "Fine dining "😆
Nice place to grab some quality food. Chips and salsa were meh. The lobster grilled cheese was pretty good.
If you want breakfast, check out this place. They have a traditional breakfast dish with eggs, bacon, has brown, and toast. Just watch out for the beverages that can take your bill over the top. Coffee at $5 and water at $7. The fish itself was fine and priced ok at $18. Total bill around $40 for breakfast but without the liquids it would be reasonable. Fast friendly service. Not a lot of seating but suitable for small parties.

Service is none existence here, but its an airport restaurant, didnt expect much. Their food however, that worth talking about. I've ordered the ultimate fish taco crispy variety. And I got to say its very very good for airport food. Ultimate fish taco - very crispy, the was flavorful, paired with their cabbage sauce and pickled onion really makes this quick bite really enjoyable. One thing that really need improving is the staff's attitude here. I understand its busy but there is no need to be rude to an ordering customer
The food is good, not great. Pricey for what you get, but it’s not terrible. Portions are small, but adequate. The fish platter (grilled salmon with an herbed rub; brown rice; spring mix salad) is a healthier alternative to fish and chips. This is one of the better food options at Terminal 2, though Terminal 3 has more/better choices.
Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with that place. The food was really expensive, it was a long wait (understandable though, it IS in an airport, after all), and honestly wasn't worth it. I got the lobster roll with fries. The lobster roll was pretty boring, and the roll was WAY to thick and heavy. The fries were disappointing and the only sauce option was ketchup. It's open late, however, so I was able to stay in the restaurant as long as I needed. The food wasn't horrible, but DEFINITELY not worth $30+ for one person. Don't get your hopes up, it IS airport food, after all.
Overpriced for what you get, but the food is decent. The lobster sandwich had good flavor, but the price seemed high for what you are getting. Same for the salmon. Fries were crisp and well-seasoned. Not a bad option if you're craving seafood at the airport, but manage your expectations—you're mostly paying for the convenience.
Stopped by for a quick bite while waiting for my flight out of LAX. There were plenty of seats, so dropped my bags while ordering at the register. It's an airport, so high prices are expected, but it was almost $20 for 1 taco. Quality was about as expected at the airport. Food wasn't bad overall, but price didn't match the quality and portions.
I do like that the seating is tucked away. Table was not clean and staff cleared but didn't clean. $76 for very very small fish and chips, fish taco (with two mini taco shells) and a shrimp roll. Shrimp was tasty, slightly tough and bread is perfect buttery and crunchy with soft inside. Fries are horrible. Fish was super greasy, too heavy breading and slightly over cooked. Wishing we'd tried the Asian restaurant instead. I usually like slapfish, but it's a pass at LAX. Expect to leave hungry.
The lobster roll is very expensive for what you get. It is quite a bit smaller than I have had at other Slapfish locations. However, it is good and they fries are as well. Also, the staff was nice, but the mandatory 18.5% gratuity was a bit much.

Paid $45 for eggs and toast. It was a total rip off, but it was good for airport food. They also automatically add a ridiculous 18% gratuity… for ordering at a counter??? How bout just pay your own employees Slapfish?

Looks like a great little place and the food was tasty. So expensive! The worst thing about this place is the customer service. There are 3 ladies and all they do is pick up trash. No one asks you how your doing or helpful unless you ask for something. They just talk to each other. They even were complaining about customers and laughing. Not a welcoming environment.
Stopped before my flight with plenty of time to pass. Ordered fish and chips. Definitely frozen fish all for the low price of $24.50. Service was quite bad and the server's attitude is one of "I don't care, I'm just collecting a paycheck". I couldn't figure how you can make a living and a server with service like that. Found out when I got the check and had 18% gratuity added for my convenience... yes! Offer terrible service and force 18% on all customers.. What a joke... This restaurant is a scam! Frozen food you can find at Target pawned off as "modern seafood". Didn't frozen freezer fish start in the 30's or 40's!? What's modern about this place!?.. anyways I learned my lesson and chalked it up as a loss.
Overcooked and dry lobster roll. 2 drinks and a beer later my bill was $126. Never again.
Ordered the sourdough turkey sandwich. They hardly put any turkey in it. Fries were burnt to a crisp. Added a drink and it totaled $34 should’ve went to Jersey Mike’s across the hall.

You can order food / drinks from SlapFish with their already exaggerated prices. You walk to the counter, and usually wait for the lone cashier/food runner/bossboy/bossgirl to help you. You pay forst, take a number to place on your table. Then for this extraordinary service and food, get charged a mandatpry 18% gratuity. Such B.S.
In terminal 3, the Delta wing.Firstly, you need to know that for whatever you purchase here, you will pay a 20% “gratuity” fee!!! Greasy, right out of freezer to feep fryer. When outside the airport, despite their horrendous excuses for beer,Slapfish has remained one of my favorite fast food restaurants for years. At this location however, it is just as disappointing as every other “restaurant” at an american airport. With the exception of certain private lounges, it seems to be some sort of rule that dining at the airport needs to be a miserable and costly experience . The fish and chips are nothing like what you would get at a Slapfish location in the street. Extremely generic and not battered on premises. Staff attentive and nice.
Worst value Wanted Clam Chowder. Ordered Clam Chowder. Sticker shock when I saw the bill, because they added an 18% gratuity without telling me. And the price for the little cup of soup was already outrageous. Oh, and I didn't even sit down, I was taking it to go. And to top it off, the clam chowder really didn't taste that good. Just beware.
No cocktail menu, and the bartender/cashier had a completely ridiculous attitude toward us. $52 for a single Tito’s, while the nicer bar with the friendly bartender charged only $23 for a full cocktail 🫠.
I rarely write bad reviews but this place is deceitful! As the others said, I had a sticker shock when I received the bill of $52 for the fish bowl and a small glass of wine. AND they do not give you a detailed bill, just the credit card bill to sign with a tip (not indicating they had already added it). I had to look at the menu to find out the wine which they recommended to pair with the bowl was $20 versus $10 for the four others. I told them I no longer wanted the wine but the cashier said it was already poured so I had to ask for the manager to remove it. The fish was fine, the rest of the bowl was plain chopped cabbage and brown rice, definitely not at the level described in the menu. I find it hard to believe a place like this is allowed to conduct business like this at LAX or near the Delta gates. Their passengers should not have to worry about slippery business practices like this when relaxing before a flight.
Waited for long minutes before anyone noticed me standing there at the cashier. Later on the cashier placed a 18% tip without asking on a soda bottle with no service. I’m just amazed by the audacity.
I just got ripped off, lol at the pictures, that's what you get for $46!? They ask how you want your burger cooked, I picked rare, of course it was no where near rare but that's because the patty is so stinking thin that you couldn't cook it rare. The fish was ok, not what you would expect for a "seafood restaurant". Fries were cold and as you can see in the pictures, there appears to be some kind of seasoning on them but it has absolutely no taste! It must be like paprika or something, no salt, no flavor, cold. I think the only reason to get ripped off at this place is to spend your money on overpriced alcohol instead of food?
I ordered a meal to go, I thought it was kind of high, so i asked for a printed receipt. When asked to have the gratuity (18%)refunded to me she said she wouldn’t and she declined canceling my order. I do not recommend this place and wrote into their headquarters about the awful service.
Let’s talk about Slapfish at LAX. You’d think a place that calls itself a “modern seafood shack” in a major airport would serve something vaguely fresh or filling for the premium price. Instead, I got served what can only be described as a deli-cup of sadness. Here’s what $31 bought me: • One small square of salmon – dry, aggressively overcooked, possibly once frozen in 2018. • A mound of plain shredded cabbage – not a slaw, not seasoned, just sad, raw cabbage. Like someone dumped coleslaw mix and forgot the “slaw.” • Two thin radish slices – for the illusion of “gourmet.” • A few pink pickled onions – fine, but not enough to distract from the rest. • A dusting of chives and cilantro – because someone in the kitchen went to a Chipotle once. • No real sauce, no dressing, no grains, no warmth. This wasn’t a bowl. It was a $5 side salad with a stingy protein add-on, dressed up in a black plastic container and sold to you at markup like you’re some tired traveler who’ll eat anything. (Which, to be fair, I was. Never again.) Final Verdict: This is airport scam cuisine at its finest. It’s a disgrace to seafood and to bowls everywhere. Slapfish should slap themselves for charging $31 for this ripoff. You’ve been warned.
A rip off. Terrible food, sky high prices. Also, “For your convenience, we automatically charge tips”. But the service was horrible. My fish and chips came with 2 very small battered fish, which I found out was mostly batter and barely any fish (see photo). And you could count the number of fries that came with the sourdough turkey sandwich! 12 fries! And FLIES in the wine!
Although, I always expect airport food to be overpriced I don’t expect an automatic 18% gratuity. The server didn’t even bother giving me a receipt until I asked why the total was $25.55 on $20 fish & chips. The fish was crunchy but 2 small pieces, the fries were mid. Note to self, read google reviews before eating at the airport!

Food wasn't bad when I put enough sauce on it but the portions are ridiculously small and no where did it say gratuity was automatic for an order-at-the-counter spot WTH!! I spent $35 for a cereal bowl filled half full with a bit of chicken and brown rice and a tiny square of coffee cake. Go to Jersey Mike's across from it if you're eating because you're hungry this was such a mistake!! 🙄
The most disgusting chips and salsa I have ever had. Totally stale. I’ll be lucky if I don’t get food poisoning. They charge you an 18% gratuity to sit and don’t offer any service. The bartender/server never checked on me to ask if my food was good or to offer anything. It must be nice to get paid to do NOTHING. Absolutely avoid.
You paid as you order at the counter with the cashier but the cashier did not notify you that 18% gratuity added into your total. I hate to be deceitful. This is a principle of integrity which they do not have. Integrity goes a long way. Btw, the Michelada drink is so horrible.
