SubDan Los Angeles Reviews
They say LA’s Koreatown has better food than Korea itself, and Sun Nong Dan is the proof. The Galbi Jjim (large) is massive—it easily fed our group of 5 and every bite of meat was incredibly juicy. But the highlight for me was the banchan. The seasoning was spot on, and the kimchi honestly felt like eating my grandma’s cooking. I could feel my ancestry roots coming back to me with every bite! We also tried the Won Gi Tang, which far exceeded our expectations. If you want the most authentic, high-quality Korean food in the city, this is the spot.
By golly! This place, this food, Luna, I have left speechless and tummy full. Luna’s SPEEDY service allowed me to enjoy QUALITY time with my friends. Luna really makes this place-I heard she owns the restaurant! Los Angeles would be proud. I would fly back with my friend Nitisha just for this!
Amazing Sulung Tang. The soup was deep flavorful ox bone broth. They give a lot of meats too! The side dishes were fresh. There is parking here and it was $2 even if we park ourselves. And the service boy yelled at us for entering at the side door by the parking?! But otherwise good place to eat.
There was a very long line to get in; however it moved relatively quickly we ended up waiting 20ish minutes. The line outside is confusing but there is a line for smaller groups and one for larger groups. There is no wait-list you just have to stand in line. The food was excellent, a bit bland for my taste but ultimately very good.
Hands down the best late night hearty meal after a fun night with friends! The food regardless of what you choose is amazing with fresh ingredients and full of flavor! The employees have it down and are so quick to assist and are friendly. It does get quite busy depending on when you go, but since SND closes so late there tends to be a wait at night. There’s plenty of tables and the workers do their best with the waitlist. Parking is limited, so your best bet is street parking. Def my go to late meal spot or hangover meal! :)
Came here during the holidays and had to wait about an hour, but honestly — totally worth it. The beef short rib stew was incredibly tender, falling apart with every bite, and I loved that it wasn’t overly seasoned. Just pure, rich flavor. The dramatic fire show was everything — definitely added some emotional value to the meal! 🔥🧀 Great food, fun experience. Would absolutely come back!
This is such a great restaurant. If you love Korean soups this is the place for you. Their sul long tang is amazing. The sides dishes are traditional and go perfect with the soups. The service is fast and attentive, they refill them without asking. The hot tea is free and soothing. It’s big inside and even when fill doesn’t feel cramped. And did I mention it’s open 24 hours? The also have specials before 10:30am.
almost every tables ordered the $90+ plate. the server said it is for 3 ppl i think that is (update) leftover still good in taste after reheat. added water veggie and made it beef soup noodle, same tasty more than enough for 4ppl. big portion. everyone as i saw packed leftover. we two ppl only finished 1/3. it would be nicer if they provide smaller portion on menu. ordered no spicy, taste good. they provide white and purple rice and maybe noodle. side dishes were good, spicy than other kr restaurants. ~20mins waiting during weekend 12-2pm
I’ve been missing Sun Nong Dan ever since my first visit two years ago, and this time I literally flew all the way from London just to eat here again! The food is absolutely unforgettable. Special thanks to Jun, who made our experience even better with his friendly service. If you come here, definitely ask for him~~ Highly recommend!
I often visit this restaurant with my kids. The food is delicious, and all the servers are very friendly. I also think the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. One small suggestion for improvement: the ladle is made of plastic, and the children's forks and spoons are also plastic. Since the hot pot continues to boil while we eat, using plastic utensils feels a bit uncomfortable.
First time eating here after spending the whole day in an amusement park last month with my friends. We finished really late and it's one of the few restaurants that is open. The hot beef soup hit the spot with its vegetables. The flavor is very mild so if you are used to seasoned food this place is not for you. They also have an array of side dishes. You can also get a refill of soup if your hotpot dries up. They have paid parking which is okay since it's a bit dangerous late at night.
Good Korean restaurant with many soup options. This restaurant is also good for groups. We’ve seen many orders of a shared dish that is covered with cheese and gets melted with a little fire show. We’ve ordered no. 5 and no. 12. Both was delicious, good size. For a Tuesday evening it was pretty full. Valet Parking is $4
Unfortunately, our experience here was disappointing, mainly due to service issues. While we were waiting in line, customers who arrived after us were seated first, which felt unfair and poorly managed. During takeout preparation, staff placed the takeout containers on the bench between our table and the neighboring table, packing food right next to us — essentially beside our seats — which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Additionally, the final amount charged appeared to be calculated based on the post-tax total, which was confusing and unexpected. The wait was extremely long, and while the food was acceptable, it was not memorable enough to justify the overall experience. We likely won’t be returning.
Had a solid expectation before coming in. We're from greater NY area so we were exposed to a lot of good Korean food like fort lee, and cho dan gols in ktown. This place is just disappointing for me, small plates were lacking variety and taste, not even 1/5 as good as cho dan gol. It feels like a touristy spot. We got the medium side beef plate with no cheese, this dish is decent and over portioned for 2. But I do like the taste however it was a pretty darn heavy and sauce dependent dish.
We’ve been to this restaurant countless times, but today’s takeout experience was extremely disappointing. When I arrived to pick up the order, the staff had already tied the bag tightly and simply pushed it to me for payment. When we got home, we discovered the entire meal had a burnt taste — including the potatoes and rice cakes. We called the restaurant, and they told us we should have checked the food at pickup. How were we supposed to check it when you tied the bag in a tight knot? And how can anyone see or smell a burnt taste through photos? To-go portions are also significantly smaller than dining in. I absolutely do not recommend this place, especially for to-go orders.
