Cha Cha's Lubbock Reviews
A delicious, satisfying and lovely dinning experience. If you’re interested in Mongolian Queens and culture you are in for a treat. Food came quickly, was prepared carefully and thoughtfully. They use all real crab meat, and make rolls by hand. Friendly staff greeted us and made sure we had a pleasant experience. The owner is great! Very kind, she treated us to a small dessert on the house(lychee crème brulee, deliciously interesting)! We enjoyed all of our food. Must try the Khatan roll! Also very much savored our Matcha Tres Leches cake!
Absolutely amazing experience! Stumbled upon this place on new years and we were kindly squeezed in by the staff. The waitress that tended to us was fantastic, the ambiance was great and most importantly; the sushi to die for! Both rolls we ordered (rhe Atlas and Bacon of the Sea) were extremely fresh & had unique twists that made them a genuinely new / great experience! They even served our order of green tea in a cute fish pot, so fun! The music was also nice. 100% will return with a reservation next time for sure!
The sushi was incredible fresh and bursting with flavor! Highly recommend the Khatana roll. The mango added the perfect amount of sweetness and the salmon was so fresh. Great value for $20
Heard of this spot via word of mouth. Me a good friend went there and the food was amazing! A personal nitpick was it was too dim, but that’s just a personal preference. The food was fantastic, service was excellent as well, I forgot to ask the server’s name, but she went out of her way to fix our table that was wobbly. I remember she had a nose septum ring. Overall, fantastic sushi restaurant, highly recommend the Macha Tres Leche cake if you have room left!
From the moment we entered and sat down, it was clear in every detail on the table that this place knows what they’re doing. Thankfully we were in a group of 5 so we could try lots of things from the menu and each one was superb. Each roll is creative and perfectly executed. I was particularly impressed with the First Fridays: a caprese sneaking into a sushi roll, and it made total sense. Great service, fun music, elegant tableware. We were also surprised by the great value. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
This place deserves to get more traffic honestly. Have visited twice and had very positive experiences. The omakase is not only delicious but also very affordable and comes beautifully presented on a beautiful platter with flowers. It’s a feast for the eyes! The Mongolian dumplings are another highlight dish for me, so juicy and flavorful. Highly recommend this spot!
I’m so happy to have lunch here. Good food, good service. I’ll definitely come again.
This is the most underrated restaurant in Oakland (prob because it’s new). Very high quality fish and great portion sizes. I go once a week and had the Japanese ribeye special last night. 🔥🔥🔥
Sushi was surprisingly really good! Huge portion for hamachi Kama and hefty slices of sashimi. It’s also not too loud in there, which was great for conversation.
Very good, reasonably priced food. Great quality. Cute date spot, too.
OMG! The First Friday Roll blew my mind!!! So light and refreshing! We will be back for sure! And the atmosphere is cozy with a great playlist!
Went for lunch and got the Chirashi bowl. Quick service, delicious food and great music selection :)
A wonderful experience dining here. The omakase was spectacular , the karaage was crunchy and plentiful. Service was lovely and speedy. Will definitely be back
Amazing sushi. All different kinds of fresh fish. The Misoshiro was also really good. Good service although a bit overwhelmed. Definitely recommend!
Best sushi restaurant in Oakland (but there's more than just sushi to be enjoyed here!). Fish and all ingredients in general are super fresh and locally/carefully sourced. Atmosphere is super cute and the owners are just fantastic hosts that will make you feel at home the second after you enter. Located super strategically in DT oakland a block away from Bart station (12th Street). Super recommended ✨

The food was incredible in both freshness and presentation. We had sashimi, a roll and appetizers, and everything was delicious. The music and atmosphere was great, I look forward to returning.
Their Lake Merritt roll was delicious! Everything came out super fresh - this place deserves more attention. Will be adding this spot to my regular rotations.
Khatan, a hidden gem in the Bay Area, is a must-try for sushi lovers! I was blown away by their sake sashimi, which was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The Lake Merritt roll with a sour ponzu hamachi was another standout. The owners, who are incredibly friendly and welcoming, are clearly passionate about their craft. It's amazing to think they've only been open for 10 days! Highly recommended!
New favorite sushi spot in Oakland! The interior is super cute and food is excellent. We had the tempura, edamame and three rolls, the bacon of the sea, lake Merritt and seared bliss. The playlist was also excellent. Oakland should show this place some love!
It's exactly as it was billed. A great middle of the night dive bar with the cheapest burgers ever. If you visit Chicago, it's a must see. And remember, "no fries, chips"
I'm not a big giver of five stars, and this place deserves them. I have been eating sushi for many decades, and seldom do I find a restaurant where every item is excellent. We spent an hour engaged in the pastime of reveling in the taste, texture and complexity of every item, from edamame to the entrees. Wonderful food, with a fresh vision.

Was just okay, ordered the veggie tempura and the chicken teriyaki. The veggie tempura tastes not fresh and oil tasted burnt. The chicken teriyaki was nothing special. The dinners do not come with miso soup or salad. Not a lot of options for non seafood/fish eaters. The service was nice and the place was clean. Definitely not a traditional Japanese restaurant. I won’t be back.
I was extremely excited to check out this new sushi spot that opened in Oakland, reading the reviews praising the quality yet affordable omakase experience here. Needless to say I was sorely disappointed. The reviews here praise the freshness and superb taste of the fish, none of which was there for me. I also find it a huge shame to experience an omakase where they use the same cut of Salmon TWICE. They said the difference is that it’s marinated in beet juice to give it a different flavor and color. So out of the 10 piece omakase, two are already salmon, which was a letdown. The tuna was not even worth of being ground up and use as a spicy tuna roll, this felt like chewing cardboard. In the picture, I don’t remember what that brown fish with green sauce on top was, but it was easily one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted in any omakase experience I have, and ruined my appetite. Everything else was mediocre at best. I find it extremely strange also that an omakase wouldn’t include hamachi (yellowtail), which is also a huge red flag for this spot. Save your money, and pay more for a higher quality omakase elsewhere, then settle for this mediocre affordable one. Another thing, why are we getting the same quantity of fish in a sashimi omakase as the nigiri omakase? It almost seems like we got cheated out of more fish. Service was good, but one of the servers spilled water when pouring it into the glasses and didn’t acknowledge or apologize for it (albeit it wasn’t a huge spillage, but still big enough to be observed). Ambiance is nothing to comment on, but it’s hard to enjoy good food when you see some unhoused people creating disturbances right outside. I’ll be perfectly honest, some of these other reviews seem dishonest. TLDR; very mediocre omakase experience, it’s affordable for a reason. Go elsewhere for a better omakase experience.
