La Madeleine Lubbock Reviews
Every time we come in it’s always a blast delicious food kind staff it’s a great time, Jeff recently helped us on my boyfriends birthday
The fireplace created such a cozy spot to sit and visit with a friend. The food was delicious. Jeff went above and beyond to be gracious. We had neglected to order dessert, and didn’t realize it until we were preparing to leave. Jeff comped the slice, which he totally did not have to do, obviously. We will be back!! 🤗
La Madeleine is always such a cozy spot. The food is fresh, the atmosphere is warm, and the service is consistently kind. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed lunch. I always leave feeling happy and satisfied.
Food is great. Portions are a bit small but I guess you gotta pretend to be French 😆 I appreciate the vegetarian options and of course love the pastries. Coconut cake is seriously so delicious. We've purchased a whole cake for special occasions!!
Host was friendly, atmosphere was laid back, but somehow seemed like we were in a bistro somewhere in France. The food was incredibly flavorful, beautifully presented, and hot. Complimentary bread and a special for the chocolate crossaint with our order (99 cents!). The crossaint was buttery so flaky, and the perfect amount of chocolate.
Got the Chicken Parisien sandwich and it was great! little heavy on the mayo but whatever. Super pretty atmosphere and BREAD I LOVE THE BREAD. Also really nice bakery where you can buy tasty goods. Including bread. Service was nice and I really liked the bread. 5 stars, would buy more bread.
My granddaughter had us come here, she and her mom have had food from here, so she suggested that we try this place. I am truly grateful for her suggestion and we sure did enjoy the fantastic array of food here. I just loved the French dip and the tomato basil soup. My granddaughter had the pesto pasta with shrimp, my wife had the potato soup and the chicken salad. I will definitely be returning to try other things as well. The dark cherry Danish, and the coconut cake were undescibably delicious. My granddaughter loved the creme Brule torte and the Nutella croissant. We left very satisfied.
Always a great dining experience at La Madeleine! This time was no exception. Sonya the manager is the best. She remembers people and their preferences and gives everyone personal attention. This trip she was super short-handed (just her, one new cashier she was training, and one cook that we could see who was also running food) and she was still taking care of everyone. I can't say enough good about her. The food was also delicious, as always. I got Chicken la Madeleine and hubby got a French Dip. So good.
I love the atmosphere, and the food is amazing, perfectly blending the ambiance of an old Italian restaurant with that of a warm home. However, the customer service has been questionable at times. I have also experienced multiple instances where the store opened later than expected, around 7:20 AM, and closed, locking the doors, before 8:50 PM.
Update Jun '24: food lost a star due to an unbelievably poor French onion soup that is prepared with barely any onions and literally four shreds of cheese (see pic) floating on two tiny baguette toasts. Served tepid to add insult to injury. The Chicken La Madeleine was dry though the tiny side cup of mushroom sauce helps a bit. My quiche was fine. My comment about the soup was met with an indifferent shrug and comment that "that's how we serve it." It's almost like I'm back in a Paris café... Update Nov '23: I have to say that service quality has improved and I’m happy to see weekend crowd because I genuinely want this restaurant to do well — in part for admittedly selfish reasons of course — so I’ve added a star in recognition. The food is still 5 stars, but the service remains atrocious. Before COVID and the labor shortage, service was quite good, so I believe this is something that will improve eventually. It’s not just that the staff are slow and know less about food options that I do, it’s that they refuse to acknowledge that they might be wrong and are rude about it, they get hostile and all but call you out. Each issue has been corrected by the manager(s) but the front line staff then fail to acknowledge or (heavens forbid!) apologize.
Normally love this place, eat there often. Got the " new turkey, dressing and cranberry sandwich", literally made me sick!!!! The bread was hard, old and stale. The turkey was extremely dry. I don't know what that mess of dressing was but it was pasty and crusty on the outside. the whole sandwich seemed like it was extremely old. I called to report it because I don't think they should serve that to anyone else. Worst ever. Everything else we ordered was fine, as usual. Very disappointed that they would serve this sandwich to anyone and it was $11.99. Gut punch.
The lady who took my order seemed irritated that I also wanted to add a dessert from the display and didn’t know the names of those desserts. I just wanted to show her which ones I wanted. she was going to have to go to another register to ring it all up together. When I told her it would be OK not to worry about it that I would just get the desserts when I get ready to leave seemed irritated and said that we could go to the other register. I went on 11/29 around 2:00 Really disappointed I’ve always gotten an excellent service here and the food was always really good. I’m disappointed that I even got dessert because they’re both things that I ordered weren’t very good.
Horrible service. Didn’t get our orders correct. Food was undercooked or room temperature. Lousy experience. Don’t take anyone here for a special occasion unless you want it ruined. I’ve been to other locations and have been very pleased. This location needs new management.
I ordered takeout. I asked for no ice, On the two drinks totaling over 13 dollars. They refused and sent me with both drinks without them being full. The melon in my two fruit salads were not ripe and had the rind not cutoff. I spent over 50 dollars on breakfast and this is the service I received. Bottom of the barrel. Will never visit them in any form.
This was my first time eating at the restaurant. I had the strawberry, fetta, bacon salad and the French Onion soup. The salad was great, but my first bite of the soup, i could tell it was bitter and spoiled! I took the soup up to the front counter. The manager, Joe, came over, and i explained that the soup tasted spoiled. I had the soup in my hand and tried to give it to Joe. He said nothing. He wouldn't even put his hand up to take my soup, so i had to go put the spoiled soup back on the table with my other food. Not only that, other than listening to my complaint, he never spoke one word to me. No apology, no "can i get you something else, nothing. He showed zero concern for making a customer happy. There were so many simple things he could have done to improve the situation. I feel bad for the owner of this restaurant. Putting his/her trust in someone, making them a manager, Joe showed he could care less about making first time customers, repeat customers. I will not be back again.
We used to love this place! They had the best chai latte and pastries. Their espresso machine went down 2 years ago and they have yet to fix it or change their menu to exclude espresso drinks. This last time we went, our breakfast was served cold. We won't be back.
