Mi Taco Village Lubbock Reviews
This place is small but amazing food and staff. This place has been in the Lubbock area for years!!! I have chased their queso my entire life. Some times they are supper busy and takes a minute to be seated but worth every bit.
Food is absolutely great. Family owned and operated. 10 stars is not enough.
Absolutely wonderful service and authentic food! Great prices and so much better than anything we've had. Karen at Lubbo k RV Park highly recommended. Don't miss this local gem!
They have live music. Its pretty loud for such a small place but it's a fun atmosphere. It's most an older crowd all seem to know each other. Everyone was really nice. One couple kept giving us jello shots. Its byob. I got tacos and enchiladas with beans and rice and it was delicious!! Not expensive either! I stopped by a few days later and got a breakfast burrito with bacon potatoes and cheese and I was not impressed at all. Idk if breakfast burritos without potatoes with egg are any better but I'll just stick to their dinner menu from now on.
Best Chili Rellenos in town. The owners and staff are amazing and very friendly. They have live bands five days a week anything from gospel to country to bohemian and classic rock. A wide variety of music for everyone to enjoy. this restaurant is on the top 3 mexican food establishment on my favorites to eat. Their rice and beans are magnificent. They do sale alcohol and have had many celebrities come through and eat and play. So go check them out and prepare your self for a magnificent lunch or dinner. they are across the street from Loves on Regis Street near the international airport in Lubbock, Texas
First time getting food here......very good.....especially the queso! What I call authentic Mexican food. If you like Leal's you will probably like Mi Taco Village. Called ahead to order and just had to wait a couple a minutes at pickup. Drive through made it easy. I'll be back!
Really good tasting food. Live music most fridays with Jenny Dale Lord. I am not crazy about how they have the tables set up. Feels like I'm at a cafeteria. The service is very friendly. Pay at the register type.
Seen a sign for tamales. I’ve had many different ones but these take the cake! Flavor is amazing. Could be a bit bigger but so worth it! Friendly staff very clean. Thank you!!!!
I work near the airport and there are not alot of choices to eat out there. (Only lubbock would not have any infrastructure bear their airport, but u digress) the food is affordable, won't break your wallet and they are fairly fast. They serve breakfast all day as well and have live music as well. Been eating here 6 years now and they have a great crew. Definitely a must try if you're out that way. Ps: try their double burger, it's the bomb!
First time there we order Hamburger to go Today Omg ! 😲 very delicious very good Home cook style. We will be back. Thanks Keep up the good work.
Can't wait to come eat here again!! Everything was delicious!! We had a red enchilada plate, a carne guisada burrito smothered in their chile con queso with melted cheese on top, & 2 tamales! Excited to try their chile rellenos next which I hear are spectacular and I'm sure won't disappoint. The price was more than fair also considering the quality food they serve! Wish I could give more stars!! We will be back soon 😊
I have always been pleased eating here. Everything on the menu is excellent. They had live music on the last trip. Great place to eat.
The employees there are so friendly and cheerful. Really brightened my morning
Mi Taco Village is always great!!! We eat there often and enjoy it every time. Service is good and the food is outstanding. BEWARE!!! THE HOT SAUCE IS USUALLY VERY HOT!!! But it's oh, so good!!!
What an amazing food place as well as the owners and staff. This is very authentic Mexican food. Very much like your grandma made. Place was busy and still table were clean and food came out hot. They also have entertainment here on certain nights. We will have to be back for that.
Staff is friendly and very welcoming. Everything was clean and great atmosphere. Food was awesome and had a great spice level with flavor. Green enchilada sauce is money
Everyone was so nice and the food is amazing!
Lucked on to this good texmex restaurant enroute home from Colorado . Had Mas special and wire had senior plate. Both were very good w ample portions. Definitely stopping again next trip. This was last year and we're back this year. Food is just wonderful and staff is the friendliest we've met
Small cafe, but the food is outstanding! They make a green sauce that I loved and the chili rellenos are so darn good! Don't pass this cafe by because of it's size or you'll be missing something special! The owners and staff are so dedicated to making this a great place. Did I mention that they have the best chips around?
If you haven't been here, then shame on you! This unique little gem has been around and hopefully will remain around. The most excellent food, no matter what you order, and the friendliest folks around. The nights with live music are like no others.
We ate here as a group of around 15. The service was great! We had drinks and chips continuously. The food was tasty and fairly priced. My husband got the Mi Peblo plate with a variety of dishes- all very good.
Went to MI Taco Village on a Tuesday evening when a live band was performing. I've had their tacos and an incredibly big hamburger...delicious on both counts. The place was crowded, but everyone was having a great time. A recommendation is in order.
A perfectly cooked chile relleno made for an outstanding lunch! Love all their food. No photo-I was hungry!
Oh the memories in those Chiles. I tremble in fear when I return to Lubbock at the possibility that these glorious cheesy peppers may no longer be available. Viva Rellenos!!!
I know this is going to sound weird but I got a cheeseburger. I'm new to Lubbock and so I've been looking forward to trying different places around town, and this restaurant is close to my job. I was in the mood for a burger and fries one day but didn't want to drive all the way into town for lunch. When I drove up to this place, I saw they had a big sign advertising burgers, so I thought I'd give it a try. The burger was HUGE and tasted SO GOOD. And the fries were great, too. The service was good; the lady at the drive up window was super nice. I could see from the window they were very busy (it was lunch hour), but my wait was not unreasonable. I will definitely come back- and try a taco or burrito. :D
The chicken quesadillas were so good and flavorful, rice and beans were perfect and the sweet tea was delicious! My mom had the burger and fries and absolutely loved it, my aunt had the enchiladas and my sister the Chiles rellenos, both very picky and they loved their meals! We will definitely be coming back.
I always go for the Chile rellenos, that are so good! We love to go on Friday nights, bring some beer or wine and enjoy great musicians. Everyone is there for a good time and the owners are very friendly. Of course, right now it is take out only. Food is still great, but I can’t wait to return to enjoying the casual atmosphere
The menu is minimal, so that makes getting your food out fast and HOT!. I love the fact that along the walls are the original paintings from the old restaurant behind the old A to Z off Clovis and Ave. Q. Love it even more because my wife cried when she had a taste of the beans because it reminded her of when her father would take her there to eat as a child. Food is Good, Price is Alright, Staff is Friendly
Great enchiladas. Been eating here since they were located on 3rd and Q in Lubbock. Historic with a ton of celebrity visits. Guy with the pony tail has the secret recipe to the best enchiladas on the planet. As small as the dining room is they still offer live music on the weekends. Love this place!
My friend and I loved our lunch choices, and I have leftovers for dinner! We appreciate the clean and bright restaurant as well as the accommodating server. A perfect stop on a lunch hour.
Had an amazing lunch. The live music was excellent and just the right volume.
Wow, I have to say sorry, I didn't expect this one is gonna be that good, I had no idea, especially the fact that I didn't liked Mexican food before I went here, I'm speechless, food taste so good, I did come back same day. People working here are respectful helpful and very kind, oasis in the desert, if I could give them 10+ I would
The quesadillas are really good! They have a lot of cheese and the tortilla tastes homemade.
My family I pick up Mi Taco, probably three times a month. The food is always good, fairly priced, five stars for the "ambience" because this kind of home owned, off the beaten path, cool kinds of places are not too common anymore. I hope you all are reading the reviews. I have only one bit of constructive criticism. If would be great if Mi Taco had more of a set schedule. It's somewhat chaotic everything we decide Mi Taco is what we're in the mood for. Because we have to Google your hours. It seems to us everyday has different hours, even though they aren't. If you can't adjust it, well be back either way. Thanks for great food!
This was a lovely little restraunt l like to call "a hole in the wall". It was suggested by my sister whose a local. The place is small but clean and the service was very good & friendly. The menu is simple & inexpensive. Plates were served hot & made fresh. I definitely loved the cooking!!!
It was homemade taco shells, fresh queso, fresh homemade salsa.. I’m going back! The food was great
This place is wonderful. Good food. Great people. Live music. The owners are awesome. Wonderful place whether u are dining in or grabbing your food to go. Breakfast burritos are really good. We were living right up the street from there but we moved across town. We still plan on going to eat there often. Love this place.
Recommend chicken tacos with beans and rice. Reminds me a lot of my moms and my sister’s cooking. Love the salsa. Definitely coming back.
The atmosphere was awesome the restaurant was clean the server was excellent and very nice. And the food was awesome. We will go back for sure
The owners of this restaurant have their Roots here in Lubbock and have been a mainstay for excellent Mexican cuisine for many years! Their grandmother started this restaurant back in the day right off of avenue q. The food is consistently good. The service is with a smile and some days they have live music. That's enjoyable. We were there on it Friday. The music was great 😁 Get you some....🤠
Great local place family owned and they are always very nice chips and hot sauce is 🔥 always good burritos are bigger than the average burrito
This restaurant has such amazing food! I have only came here for lunch during work hours but the vibe and energy in here is just so good! The portion of the food is perfect and tastes excellent and fresh!
Oh my goodness, oh my stars!! Fabulous little place. The hamburgers are huge!! The food is wonderful. Cute place clean! Staff is welcoming. I am going to bring my bestie to have lunch here. I will get back to you with her options, lol
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Food was delicious. Portions were huge. Salsa and chips were excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Family owned restaurant with the owner still working there with her daughters. I love all their military pictures on the wall and pictures of their loved ones. I got the chicken quesadilla for lunch. Absolutely delicious. I want to try their breakfast burritos next time I'm in Lubbock.
I can’t wait to return. I arrived during closing time, live band was putting things away, ordered take out, which they graciously agreed to when the kitchen was nearly clean and took care of one more customer. I enjoyed Mama’s Special off the menu, and it was fantastic . Im looking forward to future visits…
When I went they had a live band playing. I never been to a Mexican Christian restaurant before. The food was good but it lacked the flavors that I'm used to of Mexican food from Washington state. At the end of the band playing everybody stood up and held hands for a prayer. It was definitely an intriguing time.
Food was good, service was slow.
Enjoyed the food. Queso, salsa, chips and enchiladas were very good. Chili Relleno was cooked perfectly, next time I will ask if it can be prepared with different cheese. I am not a fan of cheddar in Mexican dishes.
This place is truly "one-of-a-kind" Live band, BYOB yes bring your own beer, wine, whatever! Small establishment but cozy, outdated but that's not what flavors the food! The house band is comical ;) Good meal & good service. Only request, "FRIED ICE CREAM" LOL
Friendly service! The taco Tuesday deal is really great! Especially if you like basic tacos. Good deal. Maybe I need to try their other foods to get the full experience. Definitely basic tacos compared to what I usually get. Make sure to come before 2pm to avoid the rush!!
Small family owned Mexican restaurant that is very convenient for travelers on I 27. I had the No. 2 Dinner that came with beef enchiladas, 1 taco, combination chalupa, rice and beans. All of was good with flavors that lean more tex/mex than traditional. Complimentary chips and very good hot sauce. Friendly staff and pick up window for to go orders. I dined during Friday lunch that features a live guitarist.
The food was good, although the beans were dry and the chalupa (tostada shell) was over fried. The wait staff could be more attentive to dining in service. We were never checked on or offered drink refills. The atmosphere reminded me of back home in Louisville Co with the local 2-man band playing that kind of hippie style music. We enjoyed listening it was something different. It's a very casual place, and it's BYOB, which we didn't know. Next time we will take a little something! It was kinda interesting the crowd it drew in. Prices were fair portions that were great! Family owned for many years. I think it would be fantastic if they would open up a patio dining area where the live bands could play and customers could enjoy an evening outside on warm evenings. I was quite happy to find out Mi Taco Village is now open till 8 pm. We'll be back for the enchiladas and tacos, we'd like to try the smothered chile rellenos!
I recently dined at Mi Taco Village and had the Chile Rellenos. While the dish was okay, the thick batter just wasn’t my personal preference. However, the service was absolutely outstanding! The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable. I’ll definitely be going back to try something else on the menu—with such great service, I’m looking forward to giving it another shot!
You have to try the Carne Guisada!! It was delicious- perfectly seasoned and served with rice, bean and flour tortillas. Food is always consistently good, service is always friendly and efficient. Don't be put off by the older style building, this is one of the best Mom and Pop restaurants you will come across!!
My first visit here and I was not overly impressed. The food was just ok, not horrible or anything but I just felt like it needed more seasoning. Everyone was nice and all the customers seemed to know each other and it was pretty packed. I've never been in a restaurant where all the customers knew each other. Almost everyone was of the more mature crowd, a very tight knit community feeling. They have live music and Tuesday is Christian music day but I left before they played. Tuesday is also all you can eat tacos!
Good little Tex-Mex spot, not much else.
A friend of mine and I went to celebrate our birthdays. I ordered 3 tacos gos about 1tbl of guacamole maybe 1/2 a cup of beans and maybe the same about of rice. And let's not forget the whoppin' 1/8 a cup of shredded chicken. I paid 13.03 for that! The only reason they get 2 stars is the service was somewhat decent. The live music is very nice! The rest I can do with out.😒
Food was okay , I ordered carne guisada plate & and I was really expecting a homemade salsa on my eggs. Staff was really busy to get to but everyone is friendly.
It is good american style food. I expected better being in texas. The food tasted like poorly done fast food. But still beats utah. I think I will stick with Mexican food in Phoenix, AZ I think the presentation was the worst part. Definitely do not recommend if you want great Mexican food. It's ok for a quick bite.
I was unfortunately disappointed with my visit here. The waitress was very nice but I found the atmosphere to be very loud since they had a live band playing. I was seeking a quiet relaxing dinner and instead had music playing very loudly the entire time. The food, I found, was just not that good. They have an all you can eat taco buffet on Tuesdays but the tacos taste just like the ones from Taco Bell and this restaurant doesn't even offer taco sauce of any kind. I've had much better tacos from other Mexican restaurants around the country. I even had water and it appears they charged me for that. Every restaurant I've been to, when I order water with a wedge of lemon, that doesn't cost anything. Again, the waitress was very nice and her service got five stars but the rest of the experience certainly didn't.
Over-rated. Quality is poor. The cokes were the best thing we had. Customer service was very poor. These are not the flavorful food that we are accustomed to from the old original location. You obviously have to be white to get good Customer service, here.
Lupe used to be the cook here and the food was amazing everytime. Now the food is awful without her magnificent skills, it's just over salted meals. They burnt my eggs and I don't know how you can burn eggs and SERVE THEM. I'm not ever coming here again.
Unfortunately, it was pricey and I personally really didn’t care for the food. I really wanted to as the reviews were great and I love Mexican food. Even the sweet tea had an in pleasing odd test to it.
This place is nothing like the original Taco Village or Durango’s!!! This place is NASTY 🤮 the only thing that was good is the chips, chili con queso & sweet tea. Beans taste like they are from a can, tortillas are store bought. Will never go back!! Spent $50 on food that we didn’t even eat.
There was a bug on our table that was dead underneath the salt shaker and a live one walking around the food was not good at all two salty it was not done on the potatoes the tortillas were hard like a cracker beans tasted like they have chili no beans. We were the only table there and our service completely sucked.
I would first like to start out by saying I spend about 300$ monthly not to mention I work at the farm down the street so this is usually my go to for lunch so Friday 1/24 at around 530 I called in and placed my order I advised to the woman that I only want mustard pickels and onions on my burgers because I'm allergic to tomatoes as my son I also asked for jalapeño on one of the burgers we get our food go home I check my burger it's made all the way I immediately tell my son let me check your food sure enough it was made all the way also the burger that was supposed to have jalapeños only had 3 so I call the restaurant a younger male answered and told me he would have to talk to the owner which I thought was really confusing I spent 28$ on my order I waited until the young man came back I was advised by the employee the owner said he couldn't do anything because it wasn't on the ticket and I could wait and talk to the other owner i advised them that if me or my son would've taken a bite we would've had to go to the emergency room me as a customer I can't write down my own order that's a staffing issue or laziness just a lack of empathy felt like the restaurant said screw me and my kid sucks they have great food but I will never spend another dime in this location the whole we're sorry we could've hurt you and your child and its it's our fault but we will blame it on you just doesn't sit right with me
Drove a ways to give this place a try as it was suggested. We love hole in the wall joints and they are usually always friendly and some of the best food, as for this place not the case. We walked in to be told to be seated anywhere we liked just my husband and I. The only 2 seat table was right by the door so we picked a 4 seat table. ALL of the tables were oddly close together and the one we sat at had a wierd gap between it and another so I kinda scoot them in and the owner or i guess it was the owner didn't even bother to greet us or bring a menu but asked how many we had my husband responded just us two and he grumbled that table was for a large group. We asked if we needed to move and saw no reserve sign but he just walked off and never came back We sat there a bit longer almost fixing to get up and walk out when a young kid finally brought menus awkwardly giggling and laughing. We decided to stay and try the food despite the rude first impression. I wish we would have just left. My enchiladas was basically just garlic powder and grease. The beans were very questionable as in spolied the rice was crunchy undercooked. I always try rellenos and got a cheese one here and hands down probably the worst relleno you can get in lubbock. Over breaded, very little cheese the tomato sauce on top was flavorless 7 bucks for a nasty a la cart relleno. Almost my entire dish included the relleno was left on that table. My husband ate his carne guisada but he said it wasn't that great. We were never offered a drink refil. The tables are so close I over heard a lady next to me say her expectations were lowered after the appetizer they ordered. I mean for that owner to have such a rude arrogance about him one would expect top tier grub. Definitely a disappointment all the way around. As we were leaving we saw a elder group head in with a ice chest of beer(It's a byob place) to the table we were sitting at. So we gathered that must have been "thier" spot. I mean why not put a reserve sign on it and save the rudeness and running off new customers? New people coming in don't have a clue who your regular table squatters are? Or even when we asked if we needed to move just blatantly walking off pissy and ignoring? I would have gladly picked another spot. Jeez. Ahwell nevertheless the food sucked we won't be back.
The chips were fine the salsa was okay service was decent. Everything was ok till a bug crawled out from my chalupa order while I was about to eat it..no telling how many bugs that i would've eaten underneath a mound full of lettuce. I asked the waitress did she tell the manager. She said yes. So I decided to ask her myself thinking surely she wouldn't have me pay for a dish with bugs coming out from it I was told that I still had to pay..wow!!! Never going back. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else, and if you decide to eat here, please check your food first before you eat it, or you will end up like me. Disappointed!!!!!
After having been a whole year from coming here due to bad service, I remembered quickly why I stopped. Terrible customer service and bad attitudes from some of the staff. Poor efficiency when trying to pick up orders that are called in way ahead of pick up time, resulting in cold food that is mediocre at best. If you were trying to grab something in a pinch on the lunch hour, I strongly advise Escondido Grill a short way down the street if you were stuck in the area.
I was under the impression that this was a Mexican restaurant like the name says I was extremely disappointed when I found out that it was a tex mex I asked for horchata and tacos de asada just to be told that they didn't have horchata or the cilantro. I was ok with that until I asked for salsa picante just to get handed Tabasco sauce. The tacos are sub par I didnt want to try my luck with the chips and salsa
Didn't like my food, offered to pay for my Chile Relleno, which was a mess of cheese and verde salsa, which I did eat most of. But the salsa and chorizo had a somewhat gritty texture. Asked the waitress if I could not be charged for them even if I had a bite from it. Manager storms from the kitchen saying I was gonna pay for it all and threatened me by call the police if I didnt pay. Took the 5 dollar tip from where I was sitting as she berated me in status. She charged me a 3% charge for using my card charged me for 2 burritos and a chile relleno. Chips and salsa were complimentary, I think. So if you dont like your food expect to pay for it anyway
My abuela went here and did not like the food she refused to eat it and asked for a refund so she could leave. She was cussed out and threatened with the cops and forced to pay for her food. She’s in a wheelchair and has had 2 stokes and in no way a threat. I wouldn’t eat here if it was the only thing open on Christmas Day.
This place use to be great when it first opened up but it has gone down hill. I've ordered just about everything from their menu because I work close. I use to love there burritos but now it seems I get old meat or old potatoes now . I've gotten food poisoning more then once. They have given me burnt quesadillas. I have asked for taco with cheese and only one taco has cheese. They always get my order wrong. It's just not worth it. I kept going back because I like to support small businesses but I will never ever eat there again. Save your money and the trouble of getting sick and eat somewhere else.
