Skooners Lubbock Reviews
All the bartenders here are amazing especially the blonde one. She’s beautiful inside in and out😊
In 1998, this place was amazing. Biggest wings and coldest skooners. I moved to DFW in 1999 and I still haven't found wings that big. Say....does that one brown-hair waitress girl still work there??
Grabbed a quick drink with a friend around dinner time. Most booths and some tables were full, and there were only a few spots open at the bar. Definitely a popular place with the locals. With moderately priced drinks and great service, I can understand why!
Skoons was the only college student friendly bar I could go to during Tech without being hounded by drunk tech guys. It’s cozy, regulars are super nice. It’s not the same without Trout but it’s still a great dive. Being back the massive burger y’all!
Great time. Wasn't too busy. Karaoke was really fun the first time I went. Crowd seemed to be having a ton of fun. 2nd time I went it was okay except.. The only problem I had was the two guys off the streets that came in & one decided to help himself to my quarters on the pool table & intruded right into our game. Helluva a hustle he & his buddy have going on. Free pool at customers expense while he drank his cold beers. He didn't think I noticed but I did. Watch out for these two guys. They seemed to know several of the people in there. Didn't try the food. I had a good time in spite of " Mutt and Jeff". Lol!
This place has gone through a lot of transformations over the years. Recently, they revamped the menu with the help of an amazing chef, and hired a bunch of new FOH staff, and it's really really good. The menu is pretty standard bar fare, but all made with love, special seasoning blends in the breading for fried stuff, seriously good execution. If you've ever been here, you know what you're getting into - dive bar vibe with good energy, good people. And now the food and the staff are bringing the whole thing into focus. It's a good time.
I had such a great time tonight. New to town and just coming in to watch some sports. My bartender Natalie was amazing and her and the staff kept us happy all night!!!!
Super friendly staff and atmosphere! Great drink specials live music some nights and karaoke on the weekends. Under new management for the past 6 months. Highly recommend checking it out! The cheese sticks, zucchini sticks, and poppers are def worth trying!
Wonderful place! Service was great and drinks outstanding. Have never had a house made margarita taste so good. Thank you David! Unfortunately, we couldn’t try the bar food because there was a problem with the cook. Next time. Thanks again for the great experience

Went to Skooners for the first time in years. The place hasn't changed much over the years. Our server, unfortunately I didn't get her name, was trending to every table in the place and did a wonderful job. She made sure ever drink and food order was delivered in a timely manner. The kitchen ran out of cheese so the nachos were just a plate of chips with ground beef, lettuce, and jalapenos. They did come with a side of salsa, not sure if that was because they were out of cheese but the nachos weren't bad. The jalapeno poppers which consisted of jalapeno halves, stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in crispy bacon were wonderful.
Parking is impossible when Tech is in session. When not in session, it's still difficult to find a spot. Great drink specials and a good karaoke alternative to Adolph's.
If you're looking for a safe, all-ages-friendly (meaning 21 to 101) dive bar, this is it. There's always an eclectic mix of people from college kids to thirty-somethings, to middle-aged folks and older in there. The menu and prices are worth it and it's always a fun time. Warning: this is a dive bar and as such, it is smokey AF! Otherwise, general good times. I will note that if it became non-smoking, I would definitely go more often and change this to 5 stars.
Great food, awesome atmosphere! Not great entry for newbies. We had to go to the bar to get drinks then against to order food. It took awhile for our food to cook but the flavor was amazing and it was all hot and fresh! Could've been bc it was a Sunday but it was definitely worth the wait!
The drinks were great but the pizza was a frozen pizza heated up,cold in the middle almost burnt on the edges. We played a few rounds of pool and overall had a good time.

Possibly a gay bar; Drag fashion show. I went there on a Saturday night and it was cross dressers and he-shes. "Take a walk on the wild side" song....it was like the blue door on Police Academy movie. Captain Harris"well...what went on down there?" "Dancing sir....mostly just dancing."

Came in for drinks on a Friday night with some friends and the service was terrible. Our bartender kept forgetting our orders and took a long time when the place wasn't crowded.

Not what it used to be. Staff was very friendly and the frosted mugs are still nostalgic for me. Unfortunately, the smoke and dark and dingy atmosphere just miss the mark these days. 25 years ago this was the joint though….
We got kicked out because the bar tender accused my daughter of having a fake ID she’s 22 lol. Terrible bartender we will never go back
The atmosphere died when they fired the best bartender I've had. Management seems to always get rid of what was working well. I only went for the nice people who worked there and the good karaoke, now everyone's gone.
No reason to return. Management fired/pushed out their best employees who MADE the atmosphere what it was. Now its just another boring and forgettable bar- like all the others i can't bother to recall. But hey, they got a new pool table thats sure to always be free, seeing as they just lost most all of their customers. Apparently you can climb on it like a jungle gym too if you don't know how to play!

I’ve never been to this side of town until today. My friend invited me to brunch at savage and informed me the parking was terrible. I drove around and thought I found non-towing parking spot. There were 10 spots and only two towing signs. After eating, we went outside and our car was no where to be found. I apologize for taking the 1 of 25 spots that were all empty. At least the towing company is getting business today. I wish I had a zero star option.
