Café bar Ana Lugo Reviews
Atlanta’s food culture is truly something special, and Bar Ana captures that perfectly. At night, the place feels magical — beautiful ambiance, thoughtful décor, and the perfect setting for a romantic evening with someone special… or, if you’re like me, for exploring new spots and indulging in delicious desserts. I have a serious sweet tooth, and this place delivered. From the moment I walked in, the two hostesses warmly greeted me and showed me to my table. Erin, the bartender, was fantastic — she recommended a beautiful glass of Love & Grapes wine and an absolutely delicious pavlova for dessert. (Just look at the picture and tell me you wouldn’t order that.) Overall, the customer service was exceptional. You can tell the team genuinely enjoys what they do — they serve with professionalism, respect, and real passion. My entire experience was outstanding. I would highly recommend Bar Ana to anyone looking for a special local restaurant with amazing, unique desserts. Cheers, BN
Couldn’t wait to try Bar Ana! We went for dessert and drinks after dinner in the city. We didn’t make a reservation because none were available when we looked. Luckily we were able to sit at a table and had about 1h before the next reservation showed up. This was plenty of time! The dimmed lights and close seating creates the perfect date night setting. There are also a few bar seats. Our waitress Xilenia was sooo sweet and made the experience even better. We loved her recommendations for drinks and dessert. I had a glass of reisling that was pleasantly dry and not too sweet. We shared the guava donuts — 10/10! It came with cream cheese ice cream and we ate every bite. There was a delicious guava sauce under and on the donuts that set everything off! Hubby really enjoyed his Mahalo cocktail - their cocktails are spirit forward so they do the job 😉. Can’t wait to go back!
Bar Ana was such a great find. The desserts were absolutely incredible—creative, perfectly balanced, and honestly the highlight of the night. Drinks were also exciting and delicious. The ambience is intimate and fun without feeling stuffy, making it a perfect spot for a date night. On top of that, the service was outstanding—Selenia was attentive and warm. She brought us a birthday treat and always made sure we were attended to with a huge smile on her face. Will be returning soon!
Love every aspect! Cocktails + dessert (specifically the donuts) were amazing! Great service & ambiance. Seems like making reservations would be best in the future. We didn’t wait super long on the waitlist but I can only imagine a much busier night.
Bar Ana does not trumpet its existence to the street, nor does it trouble itself with the vulgar ambition of immediate admiration. One enters with a pleasing uncertainty, half expecting either an exquisite discovery or a very minor social error. Happily, the former prevailed. I have long suspected that the finest evenings begin with a touch of doubt. Within, however, the house displays a most assured sense of intelligence. Its decor is elegant without vanity, composed without stiffness, and possessed of that rare quality of inviting one to linger beyond all reasonable intention. The room does not strive to seduce; it simply assumes that, in time, it shall succeed. Such confidence is, I find, difficult to resist. There is also great wisdom in its restraint. Rather than burdening itself with an excess of offerings, Bar Ana attends carefully to a smaller number of pleasures, chiefly cocktails and desserts, and does so with admirable effect. My lady was particularly taken with her Guava G&T, which was bright, charming, and dangerously easy to enjoy. I, for my part, found much to admire in the Caribbean Sour, a drink with proper spirit and a commendable edge, like good conversation in a drawing room where not everyone is entirely honest. We also sampled the guava glazed doughnuts, which were excellent, though I must confess they arrived after we had already dined elsewhere, and so we faced them at a considerable disadvantage. Delicious as they were, they have not deterred us from planning a return visit, at which time we intend to give the Vanilla Pavlova the attention it no doubt believes is its birthright. Bar Ana leaves the impression of a whispered recommendation passed between persons of good taste and better information. It is a little mysterious, a little moody, and all the more delightful for declining to explain itself too readily. In an age when so many places shout, it is refreshing to find one that understands the value of a murmur.
Bar Ana was perfect. The vibes were exactly what I was looking for - chill, fun, and energetic. A dessert and cocktail restaurant is a stand out in Atlanta, so I'm happy to say Bar Ana exceeds your expectations. The cocktails are really creative with a good variety between spirits, wine, and mocktails. The desserts are outrageous - beautiful in presentation and a flavor puzzle all coming together with one bite. Our ordered included the Guava G&T & a Tempranillo along with the Guava Glazed Doughtnuts & Quesillo Shortbread Tart. Everything was delicious - no misses and all hits. Looking forward to going back soon!
Never have I ever regretted choosing Bar Ana. From the desserts, to the drinks, hospitality, music, atmosphere, evening coffee menu by Recuerdos, everythinggg. 1000/10.
What an absolute cute place! We tried 4 desserts and all of them made my eyes roll in the back of my head, so delicious! The drinks are great as well, the Guava G&T might’ve been my favorite. The Café Correcto was like if an espresso martini and an old fashioned had a baby. Their martini glasses are so cute, you’ll want to slide it in your purse. And don’t get me started on the vibes. The lighting is immaculate and the music was right up my alley. Every staff member we interacted with were friendly, from the hostess to the bartenders. Bar Ana will DEFINITELY be seeing me again!
Have gone twice & for a new restaurant, They are really running a great ship. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends/ date and nibble on something sweet+ a good drink. Arturo made the best mocktail and cocktail!!!!! The desserts are all texturally interesting but the star of the show is the guava donuts. They usually have a DJ but it’s not too loud and sets the vibe.
A hard reservation to get for a reason! This small intimate dessert bar is intentional in everything they do. Cocktails are well thought out and have elaborate taste profiles. Desserts are a must here.
We visited Bar ANA shorty after it opened at the end of last year, thoroughly enjoyed it, from the welcoming staff, the service and the star of the show, the desserts. Absolutely fantastic. So this past Saturday, we were close by and took a chance on a walk in. As it was early evening they had one table available and were thankfully able to accommodate us. As I mentioned, our first experience here was excellent, so we hoped for much the same. Well, I’m very happy to say hope turned to reality. The service again was first rate and as we had eaten an early dinner, this time we only chose one desert , but boy was that one choice a good one. Being an English boy, sticky toffee pudding is something I grew up with, and love dearly to this day. Of course, that means I think I’m somewhat of an expert!! Well, let me tell you, Chef Claudia is the expert!! Her creation elevated the humble STP, making it a show-stopping sensation. Beautiful to look at, even better to taste!! We of course observed all the menu choices being served around us and everyone had the same reaction to what we were experiencing. Each desert is clearly well thought out, and expertly executed. The servers explain each desert with knowledge, enthusiasm and love for what Chef Claudia creates. We look forward to our next visit, where we hope to also try the savory snack side of the menu along with the magnificent dessert options. One further point, the wine list is well thought out, with wines that complement the menu and all reasonably priced. Thank you again to Chef Claudia and all the Bar ANA team. See you soon.
This speakeasy like spot was inviting and breathtaking the moment yoh walking. It's a great place for a night cap with high quality desserts tl expand your palate and craft cocktails celebrating Hispanic flavors. It's sultry, intimate and cozy. If it stays this good, it'll easily be in line for a Michelin star. Make sure you make a reservation as it's packed, rightfully so.
Bar Ana ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the dessert to the customer service, this was the perfect spot for my friends and I. We came to celebrate a birthday as a stop before the next but ended up staying the whole time. The vibes were right — from the music to the people who work there. Pro Tip: 📆Make a reservation on the weekends. 🥃 Guava Gin & Tonic or the Mahalo 🍰 The Mini Mango and Araguani Chocolate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Def check it out!
Hidden spot, great music and cool vibe. Desserts were unique and so tasty. Claudia is an amazing pastry chef and we’re excited to come back as the menu evolves through seasons.
I am not easy to impress and Bar Ana very much delivered on an unforgettable experience. The desserts were some of the best I have had and were made with passion by people devoted to the craft. The cocktails were all varied, delightful, and embodied the heart of mixology. My favorite though was the caramel mole coffee which I paired with a coffee distilled mezcal, I'd drink it every day if I could. Our primary server, Isabella, was simply lovely and we hope to see her and Bar Ana again soon.
Let’s start off with parking, there’s plenty ☺️ Make sure to make a reservation because it is an intimate space. A very cute space! The music is on point, a mix of hip hop, R&B and Spanish, very NY. There was a DJ there and playing at a decent volume , where you aren’t Yelling to hear your guests. Very grown and sexy vibes. We served by Miranda who is such a ray of sunshine! Amazing recommendations, and customer service by her!! The drinks are unique and Strong! Light snacks and dessert menu & everything was delish! I will be back 🙂
Absolutely stellar desserts, bites, and cocktails at Bar ANA! Chef Claudia Martinez is an artist and creates unique delicious desserts that are truly hard to find elsewhere. We got the mini mango, the quesillo pear shortbread, and the guava glazed donuts and couldn’t even decide which was our favorite because they were all that good. I also really enjoyed the Café Correcto cocktail. Highly recommend Bar ANA for any occasion!
Hands down an incredible experience I will not forget any time soon. We were a group of 4 and got each a different dessert & 2 cocktails. I will be dreaming of their pear tart & sorbet for years to come. Their cocktails were also insanely delicious & well balanced. Beautiful space with stellar, friendly, down to earth service. Perfect spot for a friend’s night or a date.
I've been meaning to write a review since I came here last week! I've known Claudia and her desserts for a while now and this place is a great representation of all the creative people that came together for it. Her donuts are always a stand out, but I loved the chocolate dessert as well. They have a really fun play on a martini and the glassware is so fun........... I've always loved Ponce and this is a great addition to the neighborhood. It feels like a bar that would be in Cartagena or Mexico City! I'm excited to come later in the night and check out DJs they have. I'm definitely proud of everyone and excited to see what's to come. Cheers! 🖤🌸🌹✨💋
We ordered pretty much one of everything at Bar ANA… and not a single dish missed. Everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful and honestly… kind of dangerous because now I’m spoiled for all future desserts. It’s very hard to pick just one dessert to be my favorite. The ice cream and sorbet of the day were both top tier. The donuts with cream cheese ice cream? I had no idea I would like cream cheese ice cream, but it was amazing. The staff were phenomenal. Every time they checked in, we were over the moon. At one point I told my table, “Imagine working somewhere where literally everything you serve is amazing” because that is their daily experience. Bar ANA absolutely nailed it! Food, service, vibe, all A+. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again.
Had an amazing time at Bar Ana last night with a good friend. The vibe is incredible and the customer service was truly top-notch. I even got the chance to chat with one of the owners about the history of the place before it became Bar Ana-back when it was El Bar, which used to be my go-to spot. What they’ve done with the space is nothing short of impressive. The atmosphere feels fresh yet familiar, like coming back home. My drink was perfect and the dessert was a great finishing touch. Can’t wait to return. It feels so good to be back! Oh and I hear the upstairs is impressive as well!
Was excited to check out the new Bar Ana. It was everything I expected from a dessert and cocktail bar with a Mexico City vibe. The dessert menu was very inventive. We decided to try the mini mango, which was a mango mousse with mango curd encased in white chocolate over a mango compote and toasted coconut. It was beautiful and delicious. The portions were great for two people to share. The bartender gave us great drink recommendations and we tried the Guava G&T and the Mahalo (similar to a margarita). We didn’t have reservations, since it was fully booked, but we were welcomed at the front and it was a short wait in their waiting lounge prior to getting seated at the bar. The staff was all very friendly and inviting.
Bar Ana: an unforgettable first experience. The beautiful ambiance is matched only by the staff, whose genuine warmth and smiles elevate the service. The desserts are the star: masterfully complex, striking a perfect balance between intense sweetness and a salty anchor, while also being visually stunning. A true asset to the neighborhood.
We recently visited this new dessert spot in the basement of El Ponce and had mixed feelings. The desserts themselves were genuinely excellent. The flavors were thoughtful and clearly chef-driven, and the presentation reflected a lot of care and creativity. It’s obvious that the kitchen knows what it’s doing. Unfortunately, the atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy the experience. The music was extremely loud—loud enough that everyone in the room had to raise their voices just to have a conversation. For a place centered around plated desserts and a more refined experience, the volume felt very out of sync with the concept. It made the space feel more like a nightclub than a dessert bar. Service also felt a bit pushy. We declined cocktails, then were encouraged to order mocktails, and when we asked for the check we were still encouraged to add another item. None of this was rude, but it did make the experience feel more sales-driven than relaxed. It’s a shame because the food itself was genuinely very good. If the music volume were dialed down and the service felt a bit less scripted, this could easily become a great place to linger over dessert.
Made a reservation several weeks in advance and was thrilled to try this spot out. We arrived with another couple and our breastfeeding infant who can’t take a bottle. We were turned away at the door by both the hostess and manager because “it is an over 21 establishment.” I explained that I was feeding my son and couldn’t be separated, and that I’d been to plenty of cocktail spots without any issue (close company the new death & co outpost in ATL last weekend was fabulous…highly recommend this spot). Extremely disappointed this bar chose to turn away a breastfeeding mom and her very compliant but just wants to eat kiddo.
Went there with 4 friends was told its reservations Only spot. We asked if we could stand at bar and order drinks. Hostess said No, we asked if there was anything and we could also wait. She said fine. 20 mins go by and we’re standing waiting talking in a corner at entrance and her friends walk in and ask how the nights been , she tells them “ I’ve been telling everyone it’s a 2 hour wait so people would leave .” 3 of us heard her. Then came a party that reserved 2 and came with a third. She quickly accommodated them. Yes I understand accommodating 3 is easier than 5, but she behaved as if no exceptions was the line she was towing. She had us there for another 15 mins before saying no we’re not going to accommodate your party. The scene itself is full of wannabe insta- fluencers , self proclaimed singers songwriters dancers etc. We saw pics online and thought it was chic place. As a group we all agreed this interaction at this place sucked, as well as the witchy hostess.
