Amazing fresh food! We tried two different poke bowls and both were delicious. Great local vibe too!

The best coffee we have had in California!! And such lovely staff.

We were visiting Malibu for the week and stumbled upon this great restaurant. Really excellent food. Hit this place on the regular with breakfast burrito and one of the best teriyaki beef bowls ever. Great veggies mixed with top shelf beef and sushi grade rice...so good my son came back the following night. The steak in these were tender and quality, really separated this bowl from other imitators. Fairly priced. And they close at 8pm, not 7pm Google ....! Try it! 🤙

My new favorite healthy creatively tasty and tons of options to choose from!

The Poké bowl was so fresh with giant chunks of raw fish and the best marinated vegetables. Really one of the best Poké bowls I’ve ever had. It’s about twice the cost of a normal Poké bowl, but well worth it.

Their horchata hits the spot and the lobster burrito is SO fresh and 🤤 beyond delicious- exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. Excited to have such a solid local spot to frequent!

Hospitality was great- especially for a walk up and order place. Sushi burrito is delicious! So was the watermelon juice, which was just watermelon, no added sugar. The key lime pie was amazing too! Their patio is lovely also. I loved the strange combination of menu items. It has all my favorite things. A must try. I’ll be back to try their other options for sure.

You can't go wrong with anything on Howdy's menu, but the spicy tuna burrito and an horchata is the perfect lunch in my book. It'll set you back a few dollars, but worth every bite. I always immediately want another burrito as soon as I finish the first. :)

Howdy’s is a Malibu Staple and it never disappoints! A great place to grab a burrito and sit and chat with friends and fam or take out to enjoy by the beach! That’s what we usually do. I usually get one of the breakfast burritos, but was talked into the steak burrito last time. It was tasty just as expected. Not the cheapest burritos in town, but worth a stop for sure.

I think Howdy's is the best food in Malibu. I move here 6 months ago and have tried almost every restaurant and the food at Howdy's is the best I've had. The steak in their burritos is INSANE, the fish items like the lobster roll are really good and the staff is really attentive and nice. I eat here probably twice a week. And I had the privilege of meeting Howdy in there the other day, and he's a prince of a guy.

One of the better breakfast burritos I’ve had. I typically like my potatoes crispy but it was delicious nonetheless. Their seafood burrito is also very tasty.

I’m usually a food snob but I was pleasantly surprised at the food selection & quality here —most days super fresh— I say most because sushi grade fish is never consistently at its freshest even in the best of upscale restaurants—ask the chef what’s the new kill or fish of the day ;) You’ll find a great variety of dishes to appease the whole roost or a battalion if you will Call your order ahead of the bustling crowd on the weekends Easy peasy parking in front of Howdy’s or Wholefoods market etc lot Did I mention the amazing staff? Hello Claire, et al :)

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Malibu for literally any meal. My food is always ready to be picked up when I get there and it’s so easy. The food is perfect because it tastes like a cheat day meal without making you feel like you cheated on your diet. Authentic Mexican food without making you feel weighed down, an actual dream come true. They have vegetarian and gluten free options, all the workers are so nice, it’s just such a great place I love it.

J

Great place for sushi burritos first time trying them and they were better than expected, I had the shrimp tempura burrito and it was very delicious and filling. Would definitely recommend anyone to come here

Good food, friendly service, nice outdoor patio with lovely Malibu weather. What’s not to like? 👍🏻

I have been here a few times and each time, I can't wait to go back. Today, I got their popular item, the Lobster Burrito (bomb sauces) and the Salmon bowl. They were both outstanding. The fish in both dishes was fresh and the portions were very generous. I love that they serve the food on a 'real' plate and not plastic. The service was great and the fact that the owner, Ian, makes the rounds, talks to people (he was so nice) is a true tribute to supporting small local businesses. Forget the over-hyped/crowded chain, Broad St Oyster, which is nearby, come support this local gem and you won't be disappointed. I plan to come back and try their new sushi establishment next store. Looks amazing.

Good Sushi . Hamachi . Cool lady runs the place. EDIT: Went back again and got the Lobster Burrito. Excellent..that thing was so good

A bit of an odd assortment of food, but everything was delicious! We ordered at the counter fast casual style. The food actually came out quick but the casamigas margarita took a minute. We had the sashimi bowl and the shrimp tacos. The tacos were so good. That was plenty for two so we for sure over ordered. Rice and beans weren't bad either! We loved the sashimi bowl, although didn't love the soy sauce mix it came with, preferring just plain soy sauce. If was super fresh and delicious! Plus, there was no wait for a table! It was a little spendy but for how much food it was, ultimately a great value.

The food was great, and the service was excellent. Lovely place to visit with family and friends. Looking forward to visit their sushi place right next door!

Amazing food, super tasty and changed my idea about burritos. Basically took burritos to a whole new idea. They’re very creative with their burritos generally. Like you can get a sushi burrito and it’s really good. They have a big menu. And prices isn’t bad at all.

Bigfoot took trip to ocean. Bigfoot hungry. Bigfoot find Howdy’s. Howdy so yummy. Bigfoot happy he don’t have to fish salmon today. Salmon already on plate in burrito with rice. Give Bigfoot energy. Bigfoot learn surf now and be back for more yummy Howdy’s

This is a definite must try. Very friendly staffing and great service. Was told to try the lobster burrito and it was more than I expected. The two sauces on the side(spicy mayo and seasoned soy sauce) both elevated it even more.

I LOVE Howdy's! Delicious burritos and drinks. It is not cheap (around $18 for one large burrito) but it is super yummy. Their red salsa is also fantastic. The sushi burrito is such a unique and tasty option, though again, it is not cheap (around $22 for one). The staff is kind and Pepperdine students get a discount with their school ID which is a bonus for me.

Absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh and the flavors were vibrant. Highly recommend Quinoa Protein Salad with steak.

Great ambiance dining in an open air area with live plants on the walls and glass to stop wind. Food is not cheap, a little more expensive than Santa Barbara Mexican food, but flavors were amazing. Had Horchata, 2 shrimp tacos with beans and rice, and the best burrito I ever had! Price was about $55 including tip. But considering where we were I already expected that! Cute courtyards and live music also available along with some Italian food options or coffee houses. Right...also Howdy's shares space with a Sushi menu. That is unique.

I have to admit, I was initially skeptical about trying Howdy’s in Malibu, expecting it to be just another spot serving Americanized Mexican food. But after finally giving it a chance, I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the food has a bit of an American twist, but it’s also absolutely delicious. Our kids devoured their meals so quickly that they asked for a second burrito, which says a lot! My wife tried the Mexican pizza and loved every bite. As for me, I went with the classic Rito, and it was nothing short of amazing—packed with flavor and perfectly satisfying. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Malibu, I highly recommend giving Howdy’s a try. It’s a fantastic spot for a casual meal that will exceed your expectations.

The salmon burrito is delicious but the watermelon juice was the best. Excellent spot in general with great outdoor seating. Great little spot and can’t wait to come back and try other stuff. ***Update*** I tried their seafood burrito with salmon and I added shrimp for extra. It was pretty good with the guacamole side. Highly recommend the seafood burrito!

Had breakfast here with my son. We split a breakfast burrito and french toast (available on weekends). Burrito was very good and the French toast delicious. It was very crowded when we went (on a Saturday around 11:45 am) and the parking lot was very full and congested. That said, the food was good and I'd go back to try other dishes or their sushi.

Great California Mexican food. Creative Mexican cuisine with a strong fish influence. Howdy also has Howdy Sushi right next door, so the fish is always high quality. The seating is indoor/outdoor. Great place to try with guests from out of town.

On an unplanned visit we decided to go to Howdy's, but there was a line out the door. The line moved surprisingly fast and before you know it we were sitting with a picture perfect Miso Sushi Bowl and deluxe Chicken Quesadilla. Fast and friendly service. Great value. Chill vibe. Yes. Yes & Yes. Guacayummy. Is that a word? It should be!

Such a great local Malibu restaurant. One of the owners served alongside me on the Malibu Chamber of Commerce Board, and Howdy’s is also a dedicated member of the Palibu Chamber — you can truly feel their support for our community. The food is fantastic (the Pepperdine Burrito with chicken is my must-order), and it’s always a welcoming place to bring friends.

Always got the old fashioned breakfast burrito, but now I switched it up to the high protein burrito with chicken. Can go here any time of the day any day of the week, and it’s awesome. Patricio is the best dude, always knows me and says what’s up and have good conversations, but overall the staff is just killer. Come to Howdy’s!!!!

My wife and I visited Howdy’s recently for a morning meal. The restaurant offers a unique concept called a "sushi burrito," which is essentially a large sushi roll. We ordered the spicy tuna burrito and the salmon burrito; both were enjoyable, and the sauces were notably tasty. The atmosphere was quiet as we arrived early, and the establishment was very clean. It is worth noting that this is a counter-service restaurant where you order and pay upon entry, rather than traditional table service. Despite this, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive, clearing trash from our table several times and checking in to see if we needed anything. We appreciated the efficiency and cleanliness of the restaurant.

This is not your average Mexican restaurant. It's gourmet Mexican food with a family like atmosphere. Malibu vibe at It's best. The lobster burrito is pure addiction. I love that they are happy to customize your order any way you like. Don't try this place unless your ready find yourself driving there (even if out of the way) to curb your new craving.

I bought the salmon sushi burrito again today. I was surprised to find imitation crab in it for the 1st time with little salmon. It is still good, but I would prefer just salmon like it used to be. It was called spicy salmon sushi burrito, not salmon and crab sushi burrito. In addition, they gave me tuna, instead of Salmon. 🤷‍♀️

So delicious! I bought one roll and ended up loving so so went to buy 2 more to share with family! I was full from one roll. They give a generous amount of lobster in there! Flavor is all there. I’d recommend I’d you’re nearby! No line and they’re quick. Since you’re in a plaza, you can walk around. Lots of parking spots. The staffs were all so nice and everyone had their distance. I gave it 4 stars because mine had the shell in 2/3 of my roll.. I’m sure it was a mistake but it would’ve been nice to just eat without caring about the shell. I still tell everyone to try it when they’re in malibu! It’s delicious!

I love stopping here after a morning hike in Malibu. Convenient location with good parking but I think there's valet starting at a certain time. The breakfast burrito is what I've eaten twice there already. I love the salsa that it comes with. Not the biggest breakfast burrito so it's not shareable if you're hungry (esp after a hike!) but it's good if you want a snack to share.

Ordered a Baja Fish Taco and Fish Ceviche. Taco was ok, very similar to late night fastfood when you want something to get rid of your hunger. Did it's job I guess. Couldn't eat the ceviche at all. Was extremely fishy (in a bad way) as if it has gone bad. Gave it to a friend to try in case I was overreacting and he agreed and threw it away. Not worth the price at all. I wouldn't come back. On the other hand, the cashier was very friendly and it's in a nice and lively area.

Leaves much to be desired… When in Malibu, one must surrender to the fact that you’ll likely spend $19 for a breakfast burrito and a bottle of water. But that water better be premium alkaline and that burrito best be splitting at the seams with flavor excellence. The Howdy’s breakfast b tastes like it could be from the Shell station up the street. Put this wannabe cowboy eatery in the rearview of your Tesla/Range Rover and floor it to a world class breakfast burrito institution, Lily’s. You will not regret it.

A
Aalliyah Castañeda

The service was great but the food was very bland, and overpriced. I ordered the chilaquiles, I got two small eggs over easy on top of chips, salsa, and a drizzle of sourcream. The chips were dry they didn't have salsa on them or cheese. The food didn't seem to have any salt. A coffee and chilaquiles came out to about $20. I will not be going back there and I do not reccomend it to anyone.
