El Sombrero Manhattan Beach Reviews
Welcome home! El sombrero is one of the few places where I found myself smiling the entire time, from entering through the doors to stepping out of them. The food is second to none! The burrito are mega packed, and although I've never had fajitas that look like this, it was still fantastic tasting. The shrimp was good, the steak was tender, the refried beans were actually incredible, which was something I never thought I would say! Staff for some of the friendliest people I've ever seen. Always a smile on their faces, checking in on you consistently, just amazing. If you get the chance, please do yourself a favor and stop by El sombrero!
Just a short walk from the legendary Manhattan Beach, this place ticked all the boxes for me. The place was clean, the service was great, and the food was incredible. I had the No. 13 (scrambled eggs and chorizo with rice and beans). It did not disappoint, nor did the service. If I'm ever back in Manhattan Beach, I would definitely come back!
I can’t decide whether the food or service is better. My sister even said this was the best Mexican restaurant she’s ever been to because everything was so fresh. We got the manhattan ceviche and steak quesadilla, best of both worlds. Not to mention the price is so reasonable everything we got was just under $50!! Unbelievable for being right by the beach
Beautiful place, super friendly, nice workers and amazing food! I went there with my boyfriend and we were both nervous to look for a new place to eat. But to our surprise this is one of the nicest and homey restaurants in the area :). It is nice and priced fair based on the area and quality.
We pick this restaurant randomly and just get shocked by the delicious food and warm service! Be careful, The portions are very large, so don't order too much.
All the staff were very friendly & upbeat, you can tell they love their job. Margaritas were really good. The fish tacos were the best, one person in our group said they were the best they have ever had, with a big piece of grilled fish, they were delicious. The Schwarzenegger tacos were excellent too. Authentic and excellent food. Loved it!
Wow! The service was extremely friendly and the food was DELICIOUS. It had a lot of flavors. I took the Viking Burrito and it was a big portion. They also serve some chips for starters while you wait (I didn't wait too long, service was quick). I recommend this place!
We only stopped in for a drink but customer service was good! Drinks were great! Very cute place!
El Sombrero #1 is Mexican cuisine at it's best. Taco Tuesday did not disappoint with $2.75 tacos ranging from hard or soft shell ground or shredded beef, al pastor, carnitas or chicken. Carne Asada are regular priced $5.95 and are worth their weight in gold. These are some of the best tacos we've had in the South Bay area. The flavorful meats pair well with the Micheladas and cold bottles of Negra Modelo. We were greeted with endless chips and salsa and really had a wonderful meal. Try the shrimp ceviche for seafood lovers this really pleases the taste buds. El Sombrero employs some of the nicest folks, this is family run and it really reflects on the quality of food, attention and service.
The menu boasts a diverse selection of delicious Mexican dishes, each meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients. The friendly staff provides excellent service, adding to the overall enjoyable visit. From flavorful tacos to mouthwatering enchiladas, every bite is a taste of culinary excellence.
we were looking for a slightly cheaper place to eat near the manhattan pier, where everything is very expensive! saw this mexican restaurant with decent prices and a great welcoming atmosphere we were seated outside and they immediately brought us complimentary chips and dip, and ice water we decided on some fish tacos, and soup which i can’t remember the name of. the soup was so flavourful and full of great seafood ingredients as well as vegetables. it was really filling, could be its own meal! the fish tacos were very delicious as well at $6.50 each and the portions were nice the server came by often to fill our waters and ask how everything was. they knew we were on a time crunch since we had to catch the bus so they made sure everything was swift while not compromising on quality thanks for making the end to our vacation great!!
5 stars is not enough for this pace. It truly feels like you are in Mexico. Portion are big and high quality. They give you complementary chips and Salsa and service is amazing. To bad I’m from Canada other wise I will be here all the time
Best Mexican Food! First time here and Ana our server was amazing. The Jalopeno Marg was to die for and the food was top notch. The portions are massive so beware.
I've been eating here my whole life, It never disappoints. Great portion sizes friendly welcoming staff. It is always a treat to be able to sit on the patio and relax.
Some of the best Mexican food and hospitality in Southern California. I’ve been coming here since I was little and the quality continues to be top tier. Wonderful service and you’re practically beachside so you can’t beat the atmosphere
Our favorite Mexican restaurant! We come here all the time and love their tacos, enchiladas and kids meals. Everyone working here is super friendly and nice.
Went here for lunch while hanging out at Manhattan beach. The food here was very very good. The fish taco, enchilada and burrito were excellent. The kids and wife absolutely loved them. Definitely a must go place for those in the area looking for great Mexican food.

Really good food. I had a shrimp burrito and it was really well seasoned as well as filled with plenty of shrimps and grilled vegetables. The service was top notch as well with the waitress constantly checking in on me.
“WELCOME HOME” This is what they say as they seat you. Sometimes there is a wait to get a seat but it’s well worth it and people do wait. Amazing food and amazing staff. Great atmosphere downtown near Manhattan beach pier. Anytime I’m in town, I have to go here at least once.
We tried the chicken burritos and a tamale. The food wasn’t very flavorful to our taste, but it was decent overall. The staff, however, was very friendly and welcoming.
Amazing service, good vibes, chips and salsa were really nice. We ordered vegetarian tacos and vegetarian wet burrito. Those were filling but tasted okay and not so flavourful.

This is definitely NOT Mexican food like in Texas. I was NOT impressed with the old red sauce on the enchiladas and on my taco. The meat was greasy. Is this how California "Mexican" food typically is? Chips and salsa was an entire tostada shell
