Johnny Rockets Manhattan Beach Reviews
This was good food was good it is like qdoba service was awesome really nice employees and they are fast i would actually recommend this place to someone 👌🏿 great job guy's.
My birthday 🎂 was amazing!!!!! I had a great bday dinner. I am so honored I decided to come to this Cafe Rio in Manhattan Beach. The other locations have been closing down so I drove from The Valley. Elliot was so kind. He made my family and I feel honored and reverenced. I am very blessed and grateful. My stomach and heart are full. Thank you for a clean and loving Cafe Rio experience.
I had an amazing experience. My burrito 🌯 was outstanding and the customer service is outstanding. Rowan greeeted me with a warm smile and Elliot remembered me from last time. Elliot was very polite and respectful I love coming to this location. Thank you 🙏🏾
I’ve been coming to Cafe Rio for a long time and honestly I love their specials and the manager Alicia. I came in today for the wednesday tostada special and had a great experience. The cashier Brianna provided excellent customer service and always smiling. The rest of the staff were also very nice and welcoming. Experiences like this are why I’ll be coming back.
Busy fresh modern mexican food. Loved the flavor & the fresh made tortilla. Pricky pear coconut water drink it's a must!
This place is automatically better than Chipotle because they have nachos! And these particular nachos are the best nachos I've had in I don't know how long!! I wish there was one in the valley, closer to me, so I could go all of the time. 5 stars across the board!! They give you so many chips! It's perfect!! This is definitely a new spot. A go to spot for sure. I won't fight traffic going that direction from the valley to go here, but when I'm in the area, it's definitely happening. I'm definitely getting off the freeway the next time I'm in the area or on my way to Long Beach or something. 10/10!
Tortillas are made fresh!!! I absolutely loved the variety of drinks and the mint limeade is a must! The horchata was fresh too! We had pollo Asado tacos and a burrito. Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat that has significantly more flavor than the other big chain taco burrito place ;)
Wow, this place is absolutely amazing! It's so well-managed, clean, and everything is perfectly organized. And let me tell you, the food here is beyond delicious! I can't even put into words how satisfied I am. Jo, deserves a well-earned 5-star rating for her incredible customer service. I'm so impressed! Oh, and I just have to show you the picture I took of the food. It speaks volumes about how incredibly tasty it is!
Ordered a salad, no rice but with beans. Received rice and no beans....not good when you are restricting carbs. Not the end of the world but very irritating after the increase to $20/hr for most of these people. Therefore, increase in prices on the menu. No increase in quality of service though.
Food was great but they took over 15 mins to make my food which is wayy longer than the dowtown location in LA. They also didnt wipe down my table & I got pink resdiue on my suit. maybe came on a bad day.
Many years since I’ve been, staff was friendly, food was pretty good, checkout experience was fine. The restaurant and bathrooms were really dirty. Getting water is tough, have to hold the lemonade and water button simultaneously, then let the lemonade button go… like a 20 year old vehicle.
The portions at Cafe Rio are pretty big. I especially nlove their freshly made tortillas and protein options. There are lots of options to pick from, but the daily specials are definitely the way to go. If the line is long, don't worry. They keep things moving!
The Barbacoa deserves 5 stars. But you really need to know & pay attention how you order your food. My nachos had cheese only on the top 25% of the chips. The others were plain. I should have asked them to take out the impressive amount of chips they put in & layer them with cheese. & if you don't know what yo ask for, like myself first time used to going to Mexican restaurants were the nachos come filled with everything. I only realized half way in when I was faced with nothing but plain chips that I didn't ask them to add beans & they didn't offer. It also doesn't come with Guacamole - extra pay. Don't do it. One of the worst I ever had. Or souer cream. Also extra for the tiniest container. The pico the Gallo was super fresh & so where the chips. The service was super welcoming & friendly. But, you need to know what to ask for. It's not up to the employees discretion to pile your order with ingredients you didn't ask for. I ended up paying 20$. I will choose nachos at ANY authentic Mexican Restaurant over this.
First time trying a cafe Rio. Wasn't too impressed. No chips included with the burrito. Moe's southwest you gets chips included and price is cheaper. charged 69 cent for a small sauce. The salsa nor the sauce was not out like Moe's southwest is where it's self serve. Rio would. It be my first choice unlike Moe's where we go once a week at least.
Why did I pay $15 for this tiny burrito? They barely add any meat, beans, rice, to an oversized tortilla. This is the worst excuse for mexican food I've ever experienced. They try to be like Chipotle, but they're not even close. Absolute trash. And they make you wait for half an hour. Never going back. Go to any other restaurant in the area. Seriously, they are all better.
the guy working the register seemed to have an attitude. he also gave me the skimpiest bowl ever. why pay $12 for a meal like this when Chipotle is up the street. The beans and rice alone didn’t even take up half the bowl. Additionally, the chicken was dry and the cilantro wasn’t stemmed or chopped. it was literally whole strands of cilantro
The guy serving me tried to give me literally 3 pieces of meat. I asked for extra meat since the portion was obviously tiny, and after paying extra, he added maybe two more pieces—still nowhere near a real portion. When I asked what the standard portion size was, he confidently said “2 ounces” and pointed to a tiny sauce cup as the reference. The problem? He wasn’t even using a measuring cup—he was scooping meat with tongs, so there’s no possible way that was accurate. Clearly, he doesn’t know what 2 ounces of meat actually looks like. To make it worse, after the meat was already in the bowl, he reached back in and took some out. That’s not okay. If you’re going to be stingy, at least don’t do it after the food is already served.
Food is great but service is extremely slow. The food prep area is a total mess. Dining area is messy and trash bins overflowing. Bathrooms are a mess with standing water on the floor. This is a chronic issue at this location—not an isolated incident. Aren’t you embarrassed?
I'm a local and have been coming here for a couple of years. I had Cafe Rio catered for my event. Over the past few months, I have noticed that the new staff don't know how to make salads or bowls. It seems like they just slap the ingredients on. The guacamole is brown instead of green, which is disappointing. I'm also disappointed that they no longer make wheat tortillas.
I used to love this place. I went in today and asked for my usual chicken salad with a wheat tortilla.I was told they don't offer wheat tortillas anymore, they also skimp on portein, staff seems new to making bowls/salads, not coming back to this place!
I ordered two steak salads here yesterday and was wildly unimpressed. I paid extra to have steak as my protein but the portion was wildly small and skimpy. My main issue though is that their packaging or takeout containers are not leak nor spill proof. Luckily, I put the salads in a bag, but upon opening them at home, the bag was filled with liquid from the containers not being leak proof. I will not be back. For the price I’ll just go to chipotle. It’s about the same quality.
I used to live in Utah and go to Cafe Rio there all the time. When I saw there was one here in California I was so excited I canceled my friends plans for pizza so they could try it. We walked in at 9:30 to a loud groan from an employee. I am not one to exaggerate, and the burrito I received was half the size of the one I get at any other cafe rio. One friend got a bowl and another enchiladas. I wish I took a picture of the bowl. There was less food in there than a kids meal. A quarter of the food they serve at chipotle. For $16. On top of all this, the female staff working today were so rude it was unreal. Again, one groaned as we walked in, and the other was furious to be serving me at the register. I was extremely disappointed, and the expectations I set for my friends were horribly let down. Don’t come here at night. And I pray we can get refunded for the quarter of a meal that we each paid $16 for.
