Bow's Kitchen Margate Reviews
Nice Thai restaurant with very reasonable prices. Friendly staff, and plenty of seating available. Located on the 1st floor with no elevators available it is difficult for wheelchair users.
We had “Kuay Teow Pad Kee-Mao” with beef and “Gaeng Kiew Wan”(curry), egg fried rice, and mango sticky rice as dessert. The food was tasty and flavorful and it had the suitable amount of spiciness that invited you to have one bite after another, instead of burning your sense of tasting. Special shoutout to the egg fried rice. Such simple elements were combined so well and the Wok hei from stir-frying was on point. Mango sticky rice was average compared to our other orders, but could be worth trying if you haven’t tasted this thai dessert before.
A great dining experience. Informative and friendly staff who were keen to accommodate all needs. The food was delicious and well presented too, and was reasonably priced.
Every time I go I’m absolute devastated that it has to come to an end! I have eaten at many Thai restaurants it never once has one come close to Bow’s! She and her team are worlds apart from the competition. I’ve had take away as well as dining in and honestly it doesn’t get better than this! Sensational flavours accompanied with unbelievable service! I could live here!
A Thai hidden gem in Margate (as it is on the second floor of a pub, and it is not clearly indicated how to get in, or even if it exists).
Very quick service. Food was excellent, ordered the prawn Pad Thai and there was plenty of prawns. Satisfied customer
Tasty food with reasonable prices
Authentic Thai food. Cozy and friendly atmosphere. 👍
Gorgeous balance of flavours, sweet, sour, spice with heat to your level. Totally recommend a visit and we will be returning. Its a come as you are and relax sort of vibe. Just loose yourself in the taste flavours of Thailand.
Wow. We were recommended this place by two locals and they were absolutely right. Situated above a pub, Bow's Kitchen is a thai restaurant that serves the tastiest thai food. The waiting staff are hard working and lovely, and I really recommend the special, 'Weeping Tiger' (steak) if it is on offer when you visit. Definitely some of the best food we had in Margate.
One of the best Thai meals ever. Unexpectedly so. Was so delicious, didn’t hold back on the spice, felt authentic and super fresh. Can’t wait to go back.
Set in a fine Art Deco room above the Wig and Pen pub in the old town, Bows Kitchen offers top quality Thai food. I recommend the sharing starter - for the main course, you can specify how spicy you want the dishes to be. For drinks, you have the selection from the bar which always includes real ale. Service is very friendly
Ate here for the first time today, will definitely be back! Lovely meal, very friendly service. Also impressed they had vegan options and were happy to suggest adaptions to main menu to accommodate.
Came here for the 2nd time today, even better than the first. Super warm and welcoming staff, and the food was absolutely great. I had sweetcorn cakes as a starter, and the pad kee mao with halloumi for mains. On the main - no Thai place does Halloumi, its normally just veg or tofu, neither of which I like. Was surprised to see the option, but absolutely loved it. Overall, great meal. Will be eating here every time I come to Margate without fail.
Serves a good selection of thai dishes ,the staff were friendly and welcoming.my partner is vegan and apon request could have a lot of what was on the menu changed into vegan dishes,so had a good selection to choose from.the quality is very good value for money.would def recommend.
We were a grp of 10 today. Brilliant food and even better service. The staff was very patient with all our requests and delivered really fast. Thank you.
Best meal I’ve had for months. We came here around 8 years ago and thought it was great. If anything, it is now even better. So good!
Lovely Thai, we had the starter sharer, pad Thai and red Thai curry. Recommended by our air bnb host as a hidden gem and very true. Lovely food and staff.
We were in Margate's old town and decided on Bow's Kitchen after seeing the menu outside The Wig & Pen. The restaurant is situated above the actual pub. We ordered our food, with a bit of helpful advice and it was delicious. We had Kuay Teow Kua Gai, Gaeng Massaman, amongst other items. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, the decor pleasant but the food, as said earlier, delicious!
Don't be fooled by this restaurant's above-a-pub location, this is not one of those microwave rice and suspicious sauce types. Instead what you get is a good range of Thai dishes which, if our meal last week was representative, are full of complex flavours and just enough chilli heat to make you want to clear your plate. We couldn't clear our plates however, indicating that portion sizes are designed to satisfy rather than force you to order more courses at greater expense. Drinks come from the bar below, who were themselves friendly and welcoming, and can be added to your food bill. Our two course meal came to little more than £30, excluding drinks, and we will certainly be eating here again when we next visit Margate. Reserve a table in advance to avoid disappointment as it's quite small and seems very popular.
Food was delicious, green and red curry and pad thai all amazing. Would like to say the young waitress managing the floor was outstanding, having to serve multiple tables on her own and running downstairs to grab the drinks for customers. Really impressed, I hope she receives our tip!
Beautiful food! If only I’d taken photos first. I didn’t see the point of a photo of an empty bowl! Highly recommended Thai food. And above the wig and pen - purveyors of fine local ales!
Wonderful food. The owner is extremely friendly and runs the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to in the uk. I’m amazed how many Thai restaurants I’ve been to in London and Bow’s Kitchen wipes the floor with them all. My friend and I tried about 14 dishes while we were in Margate and each was superb, everything down to the banana fritta desserts where delicious. A gem and an example of classic dishes done flawlessly.
Had an excellent experience first time being there , went for a birthday meal with family , the waitress was lovely, the leg of duck was gorgeous, and the atmosphere was great (if you don't like crowded places ) Definitely recommend! Keep up the good work , guys !
A lovely little Thai restaurant above the Wig and Pen pub. Friendly attentive service, good choice of dishes, but not too huge. Lovely food, freshly prepared, reasonably priced.
Amazing Thai food, lovely quick service and good sized portions! I would recommend booking because it was full on the Friday night we went A bit of a funny set up above the pub but lovely to be able to have a few drinks afterwards downstairs! Also i would hope they get a few more waoting staff as the two who were there were rushed off their feet! But this didnt impact the service at all
Have visited here last 2 visits to Margate and excellent all round. Enjoyed table by the window Sunday lunchtime with great service from chap with spectacles. Food / value is fantastic. Highly recommended. Plus they bring drinks up from the pub downstairs (Guinness with a Thai - superb).
We used Bow's Kitchen for shoot catering for a group of 40 of us. It was an all round favourite and everyone was saying how delicious it was. Tim was really accommodating and reassuring with all of our dietary requirements as well. I would highly recommend!
Food was beyond excellent, make sure you try the crispy pork belly. Staff fantastic, food and drinks brought out extremely promptly. The decor is lovely but it was very empty despite it being a saturday - if you want a quiet meal with brilliant food, eat here
Although it was a bit difficult to find. A friend had recommended it to me, and I'm glad we made the effort. We love Thai food. I worked in Thailand for a couple of years and got really used to the great fresh flavours. We've eaten in most of the Thai restaurants locally and although they are ok, they seem to be catering for people that haven't experienced how vibrant Thai food can be. Finally, we have a Thai chef at their best, delivering fresh, zingy flavours at their authentic best. The restaurant itself is a great room. It's worth seeing past the pub's exterior as the wooden clad walls and stone fireplace give the place a really homely feel. And finally, the lunch-special prices are great value. Tell your friends about this place, I really don't want them to move away. BEST THAI FOOD BY FAR!!!
“I’ve eaten here countless times over the years — the food is absolutely amazing every single time!”
Apart from great food here as usual, I have to mention the perfectly cooked rice noodles which are fantastic, tasty and never overcooked.... Highly recommended!!!! Thanks guys.
Ate here last night with my family, absolutely delicious - definitely be back 😋
I've been here a couple of times lately, it's always been a good experience. The food and service has been spot on. There are a lot of Thai Restaurants in Thanet, and they are all unique. You should definitely try to visit them all. Bow's has a nice homely feel, I look forward to coming here. It's one of my top picks for somewhere to eat.
Incredibly authentic! One of my top Thai spots in the UK for sure. The pad see ew and crispy pork belly are an absolute must.
Treated my family for a takeaway tonight and fancied a Thai,we tried bows kitchen in old town Margate omg what a amazing meal every dish was piping hot and the flavours in each dish was delicious, definitely recommend this secret restaurant to anyone, and we all stuffed and left overs as well 😎
Excellent Thai food at a reasonable price. As others have mentioned, you do have to pay for your drinks separately since they order them from the pub downstairs, but I didn't see this as any inconvenience at all. The Kuay Teow Pad Kee-Mao was incredible. Spicy and very flavorful. We'll be back.
Very tasty quality food. I recommend the salt & pepper squid. Nice staff. Quick service.
Pretty authentic Thai food, good portions and tastes good too. Ordered the seafood salad to start and green curry with rice for mains, and was happy with both (although waitress sent the wrong dish — red curry instead of green). While the food is decent, service could definitely be improved. We ordered two Chang beers, one of which was definitely spoilt (tasted different to the other one) and which we sent back, but the waitress insisted on charging us for it anyway. Bill was also delivered before we finished our meal, and of course the wrong main was not ideal. Would come again but hope for better service next time..
The food was so good, really flavourful. Staff were attentive and friendly. Price wasn’t too bad either. Only downside is parking but you have to expect that with the location
Good food, friendly service, really liked it. Just a bit funny that the wine cooler, with is a tub with a coolent liquid inside, so when frozen, will keep the wine cool, had no coolent liquid, it was just a plastic tub, which will make the wine get warmer if anything.
Bow's is located upstairs from the bar. It is not the kind of typical thai layout you would expect. The food is good but not very traditional.
Excellent well made food. Very nice service, for example they were happy to provide dishes to take the remains home. Some imaginative dishes. One of my companions, who normally only eats traditional British food, really enjoyed his meal.
Food was quite good. Seafood salad (can't remember the actual name): generous seafood portions and great sauce, although I wish there had been more veggies to round it out. Pad Kee mao: tasty but had too little noodles. Mango sticky rice: very nice, would recommend.
Food is amazing! But it's hidden away at the top of a pub and you have to buy your drinks separately. So service falls below what I would expect from a restaurant, when you are paying restaurant prices
This place is great. If it wasnt for the really bright lights hanging from the ceiling, it would be getting a 5 as everything else was faultless. Very tasty and lovely people. Comfortable other than the lighting!
Waiting for 20 minutes downstairs for a table, then sitting another 10 minutes at the table waiting for a menu. When too fed up the staff surprised we were leaving. It seemed as if they didn't consider us profitable enough customers. Otherwise the food we saw on adjacent tables seemed nice.
The curry too spicy that it overshadowed the other flavors. All I could taste was the heat. Additionally, the pad thai was overly sweet, and after a few bites, it became quite cloying.
The taste is so good but not the service. The waitress told us to order everything at once not to order again and again. We can’t order for everyone as we don’t know the taste or the portions. There is no reason to tell the customer like that. I understand if the whole restaurant is busy but there was only 3 tables. She should’ve known before start working.
I don't know how it's possible to recommend this place. Ditry table, very poor interior (only adapted old pub and that's it) small bowl of soup, which I had to add spices, cheap bag tea and noodles made on the old oil. I love Thai food and I was dissatisfied by this place and food. Not recommended.
