Whiskey Red's Marina del Rey Reviews
Been here a couple of times. It is a good place to chill and have some tasty food and drinks. The staff is nice and always willing to help. Right by the beach, if you can get a table outside it’s a great view. Perfect for a date night too, with the lights at night making the view great while you enjoy some good seafood.
If you are looking for location to host your event, please check out Whiskey Red's!! Everything was amazing! From booking the room, to their delicious food, to the rooms and their staff, EVERYTHING A-1. My group Women Encouraging Women had our anniversary celebration they're and the ladies are still raving about that night. Thanks Whiskey Red's for helping to make our groups celebrations magical!
The perfect spot to watch the sunset, the food is very good! Extra star for being the only place in America that brought a full plate of limes and lemons when I asked for some 🫶🏼 instead of only a sad 1/4 of a dry lime like the rest. Thank you! We will come back soon! Ps ask for the happy hour deals.
Amazing place for drinks and food! Spectacular views with impeccable service and so many great options for food! really loved the seafood dishes especially paired with some of their really fun cocktails. definitely will be back because everything about this place is the perfect date night or brunch spot. 10/10!
Hubby and I were invited to a birthday dinner at Whiskey Red’s in Marina del Rey. Of course, I had to read reviews to see what people had to say. Unfortunately, I did come across many bad reviews, but that wasn’t going to change my mind because I had an invitation to celebrate a friend's birthday. I’m glad I went despite the reviews. Our friend rented a private room right next to the water. It was nice to have a room to ourselves. The sunset was beautiful, and the whole vibe was great! There was a pre-fixed dinner planned for everyone, which included dinner rolls, Caesar salad, chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and for dessert, cheesecake. Everything was actually really, really good! Both my hubby and I ate everything on our plates! Hubby and I ordered drinks at the bar. The drinks weren’t the best, so we got one and done. I guess that would be my only issue. Parking is available right in front of the restaurant, and I believe it’s free of charge. Whiskey Red’s is a nice restaurant with a lot of potential. It needs an upgrade, and once that happens, it can be even more amazing! It is a great place to host an event. If I come back, I would probably want to sit by one of the fire pits.
Had a great experience at whiskey red’s. Went for happy hr the menu was good with lots of options for food and drinks. Had a delicious chicken sandwich and some cocktails. Drinks were yummy, refreshing and perfect to sip with the ocean breeze view. The manager noticed that my waiter didn’t take my order and he was kind enough to get my water and put my order in for the busy waiter. Food and drinks came right away thanks to the attentive Manger JUAN. He was very nice, funny, and suggested the drink that I like best. Don’t miss out on the Oppies Daisy drink, cheers!
The service was impeccable. The view of the docs and the open air dining area was remarkable. I felt like I was in a different place. Don't forget to exit via the secret back gate and park in the employee parking lot for easy entrance and exit.
I’m most excited to express how moving this experience was. My waiters/servers Paris and Johnny. I’m proud of how interactive they were with our big group of 20+! They did not miss an order, nor a beat. I’m well pleased with my food and the prices, the service, the choices and everything else. It was truly amazing!
We came in Friday evening, and it wasn't too busy yet, so we got our food pretty quick. The restaurant is beautiful! Fountains in the front with many koi fishes. They sat us outdoor where weather was nice and clear and the dining area had amazing view of the marine! Service was phenomenon. Staff was friendly and attentive. Even other customers were kind. Food was pretty good.I would say average. We order clam chowder, The flavor was there however it was not creamy enought to my liking. The poach lobster sandwich was made with nice flavors. The fish in chip was ok. The firecracker shrimp was a bit too salty for me. Overall, food was a good portion and good. Price wise, it was well below what we expected, especially for being in LA and near the marine. I believe we paid total $80 with tip for 3 people. 2 of 4 items were on their happy hour.
Really great brunch! I got the steak and eggs, couldn't resist and I wasn't disappointed. A lot of people in my group got the burrito and it was honestly one of the best breakfast burritos in LA. Every dish was good and the restaurant itself is always nice to be in. We sat outside and had a great view of the Marina that day.
Me & My fiancé had brunch here and everything was amazing! It was a beautiful atmosphere the food was AMAZING! and presented amazing. And our server paris was AMAZING!!!! She was so sweet and welcoming very professional but also personable, she was so attentive not just to us but with other tables she was serving as well. And she was very knowledgeable about everything we can't wait to some back.
We were a group of women who dined there yesterday for brunch. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict and it was delicious. Everyone in the group complimented the chef. Our servers were Johnny and Sierra and they were absolutely amazing. So polite, helpful, and friendly. I’ve been coming to this restaurant since the 80’s when it was called Shanghai Red’s and I can say I’ve never had a bad experience. The portion sizes did not disappoint. However the past owners had all you can eat brunch and it was fantastic. I do miss the old menu and the entrance with the foliage. By far one of the best views in the Marina.
Both the manager and our server were very sweet and accommodating. They stayed open late to serve us and everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
The food is absolutely delicious! I particularly enjoyed the spinach dip. Honestly the appetizers are delicious alone. I had the lobster roll and just had to finish it. The service is also great. From the hostess to the general manager. I am very pleased with my experience at Whiskey Red’s. If you want to stop by and have a good time with friends with the view of the sea a few feet away, this is the place. I would highly recommend!!
Great restaurant on the edge of the marina with excellent customer service. Fun to see the boats come in near sunset, followed by various sea birds hoping for a treat from the fishermen and fisherwomen. There is inside and outside seating. The food was excellent. Recommend the crab cake and the creamed corn. Recommend sitting out on the patio, but take a jacket as it gets chilly with the wind off the ocean water. Give them a try!
Been coming here for a while, thought it was about time for me to share my thoughts! I love coming here at sunset and reading with a drink- the view is out of this world! Plus, I love the fried seafood they have (and I just learned the oysters are mind blowing too) and the service is always great- shout out to Justine for the oyster rec! Great place to relax after work- hard to be stressed with that view and this food.
Nice restaurant in the marina. Not crowded at all in a Friday night. Draft beer selection is limited but decent.
Most incredible views in all of California! Food is delish, drinks are great. The best hidden gem in all of Marina del Rey!
This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. Ken was our server and he was really amazing. He was attentive, kind, and provided amazing service. I had the lobster roll and it was delicious. The buttered roll went well with the lobster meat and slaw. The crab cake was delicious. The firecracker shrimp was ok. It wasn't my favorite, but it was decent. The calamari was good, but could have benefited from having the sauce drizzled over the dish on the side as well for dipping.
There was a thanksgiving set menu on for food which we were far too jet lagged to eat, but they accommodated to our request for drinks only! Can't speak for the taste, but all the food looked delicious, I just wish we were hungry enough to try it. Great location, saw (and heard) seals playing in the harbour it is overlooking. Special shout-out to Mia for taking good care of us despite being just as tired as we were! I am hoping she can get some time off to visit home soon :)
Happy 2026. Hope your new year is off to a great start. I was at Whiskey Red's (FKA Shanghai Red's) in May 2025 to check the set up for a photo shoot. It is waterfront property located in Marina Del Rey close to LAX and Santa Monica. They have outdoor and indoor fireplaces, koi pond, and views of the bay. Large banquet rooms, outdoor area including a gazebo for weddings. There is an adjoining paid parking lot. Valet parking opportunities also a possibility. I will be returning soon for an evening event. More photos to come. Have fun. Blessings ❤️
Whiskey Reds was the perfect spot for a festive family night out. The atmosphere and décor were beautifully done for Christmas, creating a cozy, celebratory feel, and the view of the boat parade was absolutely stunning—truly a highlight of the evening. The chicken sandwich was outstanding: incredibly juicy, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Every bite delivered. The staff was welcoming and accommodating throughout the night, but special recognition goes to Rosendo, who provided exceptional service. He went above and beyond to make sure our family had an amazing experience, checking in thoughtfully and ensuring everything was just right. Between the food, the views, and the top-notch service, Whiskey Reds delivered a memorable and joyful dining experience. We’ll absolutely be back.
we came here to watch the boat parade and it was perfect. we got to see the boats all toasty warm by a fire pit and had the bestest kindest bartender, Whit, serving us drinks to keep us warm on the inside and he was chock full of interesting stories to keep us even more entertained. whiskey reds is such a great spot to connect with the locals during our neighborhood events. highly recommend! thank you for the hospitality!
I've loved coming here for almost 25 years. It used to be Shanghai Reds for a long time. I love the location, easy parking, great happy hour options, beautiful view and reasonably priced. They need to hire more servers so sometimes the service has been a little slow and we've gone to the bar to buy drinks before our server has gotten around to our table. Apart from that, the pros far outweigh the cons. I love it and it is my favorite marina place to go.
The service was incredible. You almost never get an Oceanside restaurant that has both exceptional service, and amazing food. Everything you could want from a coastal restaurant, (lobster rolls, poke nachos, clam chowder) as well as some traditional and amazing dishes. You have to come check it out! Eager to come back at night and many more times.
I had the pleasure of enjoying Sunday brunch at Whiskey Red’s, and it was such a treat! The restaurant has a great setup with indoor dining, a lively bar, and a spacious patio right next to their koi pond—perfect for a relaxing atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and the unlimited mimosas (offered in four unique and tasty flavors) were a total highlight. As a dog mom, I especially loved how pet-friendly the patio was. They had water bowls ready and even a savory pup smash patty for my senior pup, who enjoyed himself just as much as we did. It’s not always easy to find a spot that caters to both people and pets, but Whiskey Red’s makes everyone feel welcome. Great food (compliments to the chef) great drinks, great new dessert menu, great service and an even better vibe—I’ll definitely be back! Thank you all for a fun tasty afternoon.
I’ve been going to Whiskey Red’s for years, and it has always been a favorite of mine. I hadn’t been back in a while, and one thing I really missed when I returned was their all-you-can-eat buffet. That used to be the highlight for me—Sundays were always so lively, fun, and full of energy. When I went again this past Sunday, it felt much quieter without it. I truly hope they bring the buffet back because it gave the place such a special vibe. That said, the food was excellent. I had a chicken sandwich that was delicious and French toast that was absolutely exceptional—one of the best I’ve had. The service was great as well; our waitress was attentive and very kind. The restaurant is also perfect for big groups and celebrations, thanks to the spacious layout and the beautiful view, which makes the experience even better. I definitely recommend Whiskey Red’s—the food and service are wonderful—but I can’t help but miss the lively buffet Sundays that made it feel extra special.
We recently held a corporate event for 45 people at Whiskey Red's and were absolutely blown away by the experience. I cannot say enough good things about the entire team, and particularly about Jillian, Sandra, and the main chef. From the very beginning, Event Manager Jillian was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was organized, attentive, and made sure every detail was handled flawlessly, which made the planning process so easy and stress-free. The buffet prepared by the main chef was a standout. We received countless compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was. It was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and exceeded all of our expectations. And a huge thank you to Banquet Manager Sandra, who made sure the event ran smoothly and on time. Her professionalism and hard work were essential to the success of our night. Thanks to the incredible staff, our corporate event was a huge success. We highly recommend Whiskey Red's for any event and look forward to returning soon.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Whiskey Red's at Fiji Way in Marina del Rey, the waterfront ambiance set the tone — bright sunshine, a gentle breeze, and a view that made us feel like we were on vacation. We were a large group of over 10 people, and everything from seating to service went incredibly smoothly. Special applause to our server Kenna, who handled our party with such grace and professionalism — taking multiple orders, splitting checks, and keeping drinks and smiles flowing effortlessly. Her attentiveness and friendly attitude made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the relaxed coastal vibe made it a perfect spot for a weekend gathering. Highly recommend for groups, special occasions, or just a sunny day by the marina!
I had the absolute BEST experience at Whiskey Red’s thanks to our amazing waiter, Ken! From the moment we were seated, he was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. He had great recommendations, checked on us consistently without being overbearing, and made sure our drinks and meals were perfect. You can tell he takes pride in what he does and truly cares about the guest experience. Ken brought such a great vibe to our night—professional, friendly, and just an overall gem. If you’re dining here, ask for Ken! He’s a star!

Great spot to relax by the bay and for Sunday brunch! \nJust be aware that this place gets quite crowded, so make sure you arrive early! \nBon Appetit!
Love this place! The food is always delicious and the service is friendly. The patio is clean and we can always request shade. They're even dog friendly and brought out my dog a little water bowl…
We had great food, great service and an all around good time at Whiskey Reds. The fish and chips, crab cakes and lobster roll were all excellent.

Great view. Enjoyed the outdoor dining. Heaters and umbrellas available. Not covered though. Food not bad. Only brunch menu available at time that we went (full menu available at 4pm on weekends, I think). Service good. Not rushed. Space around seating. LA prices for food. Parking is in a lot and metered (but meter wasn't working when we were there. Not sure if they still validate or not). Crowded day we went bc of a boat event.
We had our company holiday party there on the twelfth. It was pretty cool. Portions of food could have been a little bit more, especially considering how much we paid
Went here last weekend on a date. Food was really good and served quickly. Drinks were amazing. One of the tables by the water opened up and I requested to be moved there. The manager said, sorry I can't a group of 6 is coming. We stayed there for about 2 hours max and we noticed no one ended up taking that table by the water. Kinda bummed about that Was just a little annoyed when we saw down it took them about 10 mins to take our order when all the people outside already had their food. A group of girls next to us arrived 5 mins after and had their food ordered before us. I think one of the waitresses was training a new girl. Still not a good look. Other than that the manager on the floor Daniel did his best to try to accommodate us, the food and the scenery was still worth it.
When visiting LA, i was taken here, since I'm a Foodie. I did not know what to expect for brunch, especially with the name "Whiskey Red". I imagined pub food. To my surprise, it was anything but that. There was a wide selection of seafood, meat, salads, desserts, and more. Not to mention champagnes and mimosas. The service was good, the food was fresh, the view spectacular. it was slightly pricey. Although I gave 4 stars, I would still recommend to try at least once. Afterwards take a stroll along the marina.
Came here for our anniversary dinner on a Friday night and had reservations at 7pm. Got there around 6:40pm and was told that our table was not ready which was not a big deal for us. We went to the bar and got drinks first. Bartender took about 10 mins to acknowledge us before taking our order. But the drinks were amazing. We got a mojito and a bloody mary with Tito's vodka. Both were tasty. After getting seated, we noticed the other tables around us took awhile to get their food so my husband decided to order our appetizers and dinner at the same time. We got the 1/2 dozen oysters, coconut mahi mahi bites, and clam chowder for appetizers. The Ahi Tuna and Salmon both with mashed potatoes and veggies for our main course. For drinks, we ordered the monkey business and the pretty little cocktail. However, we never got the coconut mahi mahi bites and the waitress came back after awhile and asked if we were ordering dinner. She apparently lost her paper and forgot what we ordered so we had to put our order in again. Overall, the food and drinks were amazing even after the mishap. The only thing was that the oysters were not cut correctly and not cleaned. Parking was a breeze. We paid $4 for 2 to 4 hours of parking. Don't forget to pay for parking at the kiosk and put your ticket on your dash. They do give out parking tickets! We noticed a car with a parking ticket on our way out.
Nice view of the marina. Very upscale looking with a fire pit patio and sunset deck. It's just amazing how a location so great could be pretty much dead on a Friday evening. Happy hour was great. Beers and foods are responsibly priced. Not sure if many people know if this place. It's a great find. Very romantic date night location. I had the happy hour menu fish tacos, salmon mini sliders and fry's chowder. To be honest the fry's chowder was the best thing I had. It was full of flavor and the fry's where crispy with the creamy chowder. The fish tacos lacked flavor. Some how the corn tortillas took all the flavor from the fish and slaw and made the whole dish bland. I had to add salt and pepper in oder to give it some flavor. All and all, it's a very gorgeous location with great views. This restaurant should deserve a 5, but it was just so dead.
It's been a while since I've been here but came to Whiskey Reds with a group last Sunday afternoon. We had a reservation for 10 people at 1:30pm but when we were checking in & after several searches they said they didn't have the reservation but did say they could accommodate us. We'd also requested to sit outside on the patio, which we were able to but there was a delay in accommodating us since they didn't have our initial reservation. We got seated about 45 min later. Once seated, all the other tables had umbrellas over them (and they were needed as the sun was beaming down but a breeze flowing through) but our table had none. We asked for two to cover our party and our waiter, Darryl, did eventually find two to cover us. However, after all of the scrambling around, there was a delay with getting our orders started. I ordered the French Toast from the brunch items, the Chicken Apple Sausage, and the Freckles drink (lemonade, candied strawberries, and mint). I will say, though they didn't have our reservations and there was a slow start to getting us seated and ordering and receiving our food, our waiter Darryl kept a smile on his face and did everything he could to assure us he'd take care of everything and accommodated us as quickly as he could and as best as possible. He was apologetic for any mishaps that occurred and quickly moved to resolve them. He was really great. And my food and drink were pretty good and filling. I really enjoyed them. I do want to add that parking was very confusing though. It's paid parking in a lot with pay stations where you prepay for the time you're there, put the ticket you receive from the machine in your car, then go on to your establishment. But there's way too few pay stations and instructions aren't clear so the lines to use them are long and take time. I recommend, if going to Whiskey Red's or if other places there have free parking for a while, check inside first and get the code for the free parking period. There is a sign by the front desk as you check in at Whiskey Red's with parking instructions and a code to use for 2 hrs free parking. The staff also have a paper they can give you with detailed instructions on how to use the pay station so you're not fumbling around trying to figure it out and get timed out if you take too long. You also will need your license plate number. Besides the parking issues, delayed seating and ordering I was mostly very satisfied and enjoyed my time.
My group of four enjoyed the Four Course Brunch at this establishment, and overall, we had a delightful experience. Here's a breakdown of our visit: First Course: We started with a shared festive platter of Chilled Seafood, which included a tempting assortment of Oysters, Crab, Charcuterie, and a unique Pumpkin Chai Pudding, among other delectable items. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were exceptional. This course truly set the tone for the meal. Second Course: Next up was the Dragon Fruit Waldorf Salad, which we shared at the table. It featured Shaved Romaine, Candied Walnuts, Granny Smith Apples, and a delightful Waldorf Dressing. The combination of flavors and textures was refreshing, making it a perfect follow-up to the first course. Main Course: I opted for the Steak & Eggs Benedict, and while the Filet Mignon was incredibly tender and well-seasoned, I was slightly disappointed that it was a bit overcooked, as I had requested it to be medium rare. Nevertheless, the accompanying Poached Eggs, Chimichurri, Hollandaise, and Roasted Potatoes were all delicious and complemented the dish well. Fourth Course: To conclude our meal, we indulged in the shared Showstopper Dessert Platter. This delightful platter featured Mini Pumpkin Pie Bites, White Chocolate Pecan Bars, Pecan Cheesecake, and more. It was a sweet symphony of flavors and a fantastic way to end our brunch. We decided to enhance our experience by adding a bottle of Champagne for an additional, with a choice of Seasonal Fresh. The champagne selection paired wonderfully with our meal and added an extra touch of elegance to the occasion.
Crispy Brussel Sprouts was amazing and it tasted different.Overall it was a pleasant experience while The ambiance was chill and great. The only feedback is fish and chips were mediocre.

The three stars are for the ambience and great view by the water. I used to go to Shanghai Red prior to being whiskey red but I felt an entire shift with the menu. I had recommended this place to gather with my friends our family members and they used to always like it now that it's the whiskey red, we went for a free reception gathering, reservations were needed we made sure to reserve indoor outdoor patio with the water view but we ended up with a different table two words the indoor of the patio. We tried to move but they said it wasn't possible. The appetizers were good such as the spinach dip and fried calamari's. Oysters were extremely small extremely tiny. Not exactly what we expected. The dinner menu seem to be limited where you have a choice of two but all both options are just mashed potatoes or fries and then the veggies is only broccolini and they're not even steamed right it's very hard that one could not cut through it. The food was noticeably very salty and the jumbo shrimps were not any close to a jumbo shrimp. some of us could not even complete their dish because of the amount of salt in there with the caper and white sauce on top of that made it even saltier. The cocktails are and drinks are good the barbecue ribs were standard and tasty. Overall it wasn't a very enjoyable experience as we expected and the napkins were not at the table until we had to request them and instead you only get one for each due to covet and what they give you is a disposable paper towel that has a harsh texture I wouldn't use as a napkin. I also requested a cake on the up on reservation that was on the house as a treat for the couple but they ended up no serving that either so overall The experience wasn't that great to recommend for an occasion unless you're going for a snack and a drink I would not spend that much for fine dineas there would be plenty of better option especially that I skipped the special seafood portion with the two sides since it was limited and I went to get something else from the menu that was salmon with veggies and potatoes to find out it was exactly what you would have ordered in there special the veggies were only broccolini as well. you can still have another veggie option which is the coleslaw and it was very core shredded and you cannot really eat that it wasn't good so nobody at the table had it. Another thing was the photography we were told we would receive a complimentary postcard, but it turned out to be an advertisement postcard of the place also has a wear hiring and then the photo that was supposed to be the postcard was very tiny one inch photo added to the collage on that postcard which is commercial and not what is promised.
I attended a wedding here on Friday, and while the atmosphere was beautiful and the service staff were attentive, the food and logistics were very disappointing. I ordered the salmon, which was dry. The mashed potatoes tasted watered down, and the broccoli was overcooked. Others at my table had similar complaints — the chicken was dry, and the beef was served medium well, but still had blood seeping out. One guest even sent their plate back, requesting the beef to be cooked well done. When the replacement plate arrived, it was a different cut of meat but somehow had even more blood than the first one. On top of the food issues, there were no clear instructions about parking. My car, along with others, received a $63 ticket. This was incredibly frustrating, especially for a formal event like a wedding. For such a special occasion, the food quality and guest accommodations fell short. The service and atmosphere were the highlights, but overall, there are serious improvements needed in both the kitchen and event planning details.
Rhe location and view of the Marina are beautiful. The food is average and so is the service. Nice on a sunny day for lunch or brunch. Cheap happy hour too.
We came today (Sunday), made a reservation at 4 pm via Open table because that was the first available time (they had brunch before). We told us to wait at the bar, we ordered our drinks and sat outside in front of the pit next to the pond which was very nice. When we finally got our table, they accommodated us next to another pit with a great view of the Marina. The food was lackluster, we ordered the coconut mahi Mahi bites, they could have been fresher/ crispier and the chili sauce didn't have a nice presentation on the plate, get rid of the other sauce. Oysters were small only served with red vinegar that lacked punch no tabasco sauce as the other table got. Too expensive for horrible oysters (24 usd) The lobster roll was doused in sauce too litte meat (not worth 25 usd)Snow crab legs served without proper utensils. The price you pay is mainly for the view but not for the quality of the food. Drinks were ok (14 usd) one in a melon and pineapple express, the hold the alcohol was the best out of the three (12 usd). Didn't want to stay for dessert. I believe for such a nice location they should offer more variety of fresh food. Do not recommend, we won't go back.
I had the chicken sandwich and it was good but my truffle fries were a disaster. The only difference between my fries and my guest fries was a few parsley flakes. When I inquired about the truffle fries I was advised they were cooked in truffle. There was no truffle dipping sauce. I've had truffle fries before and I wouldn't pay the extra $2.00 Whiskey Reds wants for theirs! I loved this place when it was Shangi Reds. The attomisphere is still the same but, the food isn't.

Our server was very good part of the meal was great as you can see in the picture but to my surprise when they brought my lobster that I paid $25.00 for was so burnt and hardly any meant on it. I was disappointed never going back. To see we had our Christmas party get together there it was 17 of us. This place was highly overrated
So they no longer serve buffet champagne brunch, but still it's advertised all over the websites. That was the first disappointment to find but the view was beautiful, so we decided to stay. We ordered the brunch platter for two, a bloody Mary, a beer, and Roy Roger's. Food took forever to get to us and when it did everything was cold and there was no hollandaise on the eggs Benedict, plus the waffle was hard as a rock. (They had ample wait staff so I don't understand why the good was sitting so long. Also, don't understand why the runner would bring sopping wet plates to the table and not dry them before bringing them over with the food, just to leave with the plates to dry them, which drenched the floor in water where someone could've slipped and fall.) So, the poor waitress who was running around to make the Roy Roger's (coca cola with grenadine/cherry coke) because the bartender was upset that he had to make it and didn't want to, finally returned to find us unhappy about the food, which she totally understood and returned it to the kitchen to be fixed. The kitchen staff just threw it back in the oven because everything came back over cooked and rubbery and the hollandaise was now broken on the eggs as well. I was totally disappointed and dissatisfied (I wasn't the only patron complaining the gentleman next to us returned his burnt pancakes as well). We told the waitress that we wanted to speak to the manager and he did comp us the drinks since we refused anymore attempts for them to mess up the food again, that was their only saving grace. The whole restaurant is disorganized and I would not recommend wasting your money to go there.
I do not like to write negative reviews, but I did not like the place. About good, the place is beautiful, perhaps all. The main minus, the food is not tasty or unsuccessful. We tried all the dishes, but honestly did not like anything. And this is very strange. In America, people often go to different cafes and buffets and never have any special problems with the choice of food. In this place, why did not like the cuisine. About the prices I will not say anything. Service 3 of 5. I do not dissuade anyone, but I sincerely doubt that someday I will come here again.
Food was good but the service was one of the worst I have ever had. The waiter didn’t seem interested at all in serving and completely disappeared after delivering the order. We asked another waiter for something and she said I will grab your waiter and then no one came.
I have been a fan of Whiskey Red's since it was called Shanghai Red's. I usually come for Brunch, but I thought it was a safe bet to try for a Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. For our appetizer, we got the fried Calamari, which was cooked in old grease. We both opted for the Surf & Turf Special, which was a good portion for the price of the meal. The issue came with flavor. Everything was very bland, and my steak tasted burnt. I didn't complain because I felt I could salvage it with steak sauce once I got home. The lobster tail was also bland, along with the mashed potatoes and broccolini. The steak was cooked medium well, and it was juicy. The steak's flavor had the taste of a grill that had residual burned food that passed on that burned flavor to the steak. We weren't in the main dining room and sat in one of the rooms to the right of the main indoor dining area. The area on the left wasn't desirable because it smelled like a stuffy old carpet. As we waited for our food, we realized how quiet it was, and that music was playing only in the main area. We were surprised that the speakers in our area didn't work. It was odd for an established business not to have features like that working on a night like valentines day. I went on a Miles Davis station on Sirius and set the mood for my wife and me, along with the other couples sharing the space with us.
Service was DRAGGING and subpar. This restaurant was such an awful experience and our service was ridiculously slow. I booked a reservation for my husband’s birthday and called in to make sure we were going to be seated outside with shade. I’d only been here once in 2017 for brunch and that time I thought it was nice so I decided to reserve for dinner. I was horribly mistaken. Our waitress was slow and confused. She barely checked on us the whole night and at one point it felt like she was literally avoiding contact with us at all. It took 15 min for her to even greet us at the table, 30 min after arrival for drinks, 45min for 2 appetizers. And 1 hour and 10 min for our meals to make it to the table. I tried asking a waiter on my way to the bathroom a question about where I could find my waitress and he was as helpful as a rock. Without even hearing me out he just pointed to the host stand. To no one’s surprise at that point there wasn’t anyone at the host stand. After all the wait The food was mediocre and not worth the wait at all. The calamari is basically fried crumbs and barely any actual squid so save yourself 30 dollars. I ordered the salmon dish and the broccoli was hard as a rock, the mashed potatoes were bland. Honestly this place is awkward and the staff isn’t personable or on top of anything. The food is overpriced and mediocre.
It’s so sad to see the change from beautiful Shanghai Reds to plain “ nothing” Whisky red’s. What used to be beautiful place became no feel, totally pedestrian , fast food or cafeteria type eatery. It doesn’t even matter what they serve, but the atmosphere, interior, coziness -all is gone compared to a previous Shanghai red’s. Whoever the owner of this restaurant is they definitely not appreciate the beautiful location ….Shame of them
Went for Easter 2025 brunch and was completely disappointed. The food was mid, i dont think a single person was happy with what they ordered, but ate it anyways because we were hungry. My drink tasted watered down, if there was tequila in it, I sure couldn't tell. The best part was the dessert platter other than that, to me, it wasn't worth the price and I have no plans on a return visit.
The atmosphere is great! The location and ambiance is the only positive thing at this place. The food was very low quality & quantity. The sharable meal for 2 is not worth it at all. We tried few plates and all my party were really disappointed with the food. This place used to be one of our favorite, unfortunately now I don't think any of us want to come back again. The service could've definitely been better. We went on a weekend, and the place wasn't packed or anything, yet they took forever; we would request the same thing 2 or 3 times, even when we asked for the manager, we had to make this request few times and it took about 30 minutes for him to come see us.

We went to Whiskey Red's on Fiji Way in the Marina on Saturday and the patio area overlooking the ocean was nice. However, our experience was marred by long wait times and subpar service. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and what added to our frustration was that people who sat down after us were served and finished their meals before we even received ours. When I asked our waitress for napkins, I had to ask three different waitresses multiple times and eventually had to get them myself. The table was also wobbly, which I tried to fix with napkins. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, and when she finally brought our food out: Brunch Platters For Two Classic Eggs Benedict, Belgian Waffle, Grilled 12oz Ribeye, 1/2 Pound of Snow Crab Legs, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Chicken Apple Sausage, Breakfast Spuds, she was rude when we had to ask for plates & silverware. She slammed the plates down on the table, and our food was cold. There was also no butter for our waffles. The steak was very small and cut up as if it were for a small child. Given the poor service and food quality, we decided not to stay. And it wasn't just us, other patrons who arrived after us witnessed the same treatment and ended up leaving as well, which speaks volumes about the consistency of their service. Needless to say, we'd advise others to think twice before dining here.
I had clam chowder. It looked fine and taste good, but I got food poisoning. My Ceasars salad was OK but the romain lettuce was a bit limp. I should have been worried when we noticed the table was dirty under the condoms carrier. I'll never go back.
Discrimination is real here. Last couple of times I went for happy hour I felt uncomfortable and the food was mid but I still decided to take the kids to see the boat parade scheduled for today. Previous years we made reservations, ordered food and enjoyed the boats. All of a sudden this year i recieved a call canceling my reservation. The chick kept talking about "there's no outside reservations" I expressed numerous times "there was no specific area requested on my reservation" she stated regardless they're still canceling my reservation and they're only doing walkins for inside. I'm sure it's because my name is "Darnisha" the way she spoke to me was very condescending like "you can't sit with us". I asked to speak to her manager which she stated he would call me back! Never got that call "surprisingly". It's disappointing because it's kinda a family tradition and we really looked forward to today but I DON'T NEED TO TAKE MY KIDS ANYWHERE WE AREN'T WELCOMED ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!
This was my first, and last experience I will have at Whiskey Red's Restaurant. I went there this past Sunday to enjoy a bridal shower brunch with one of my dearest friends. Outside of the beautiful view of the Marina, and the fun we eventually had amongst ourselves, the staff, (more specifically the manager Daniel), was very rude and unprofessional. The multiple issues were as follows: Even though we had reservations for this special event, we were made to wait to be seated because our tables were not ready. Secondly, he attempted to sit our party at tables not in proximity to each other, which was very frustrating because it defeated the main purpose of the bridal shower; to share this experience with the full bridal party. When the manager was asked by the bride's young adult daughter to accommodate us sitting together, which should have been a given, his quick and apparent agitated response was, "You guys are killing me!!" Thirdly, he proceeded to make us stand in the vicinity of multiple tables as they placed two tables together after our initial complaint, while the guests already enjoying their brunch appeared to be uncomfortable with us standing around, (our reservation was at 10:30 am), so the restaurant had few guests. He then told us they were short staffed, and backed up in the kitchen, (how was that possible when their restaurant had just opened at 10 am, and why would you tell your guests that before they were even seated?) They provided us with one server, which wasn't the biggest issue, it was the fact our entire party wasn't served their meals at the same time. In fact the bride's table was the last table served. Additionally, they made so many of the meals incorrectly, (and let's not forget most our meals came without any seasoning), at least 4 meals were sent back 3 times, so they eventually had to take some charges off the closing bill. Further, the manager Daniel never came back to see how we were doing, after all things considered. He didn't even think to ask, "How is the food? Is everything going OK?" The crux of the day, was when the server had the audacity to tell us to lower our voices, we were too loud. Excuse me!! It was a bridal shower, so we were playing customary bridal shower games, and all in attendance were extremely grown, and classy. Further, our party was seated outside, so the boats, canoes, kayaks, and other various water activities occurring simultaneously adjacent to the restaurant were louder than any noise their staff alleged we were producing, and were complaining about. Suffice it to say, had it not been for my friend's bridal shower, and us maintaining the day was all about her, I would have expressed my annoyance, and disappointment with their unprofessional service at the restaurant. Hence, this detailed review. Working in a service oriented profession myself, I don't believe the customer is always right. However, the sum total of our disappointing experience at Whiskey Red's Restaurant left way too much to be said.
They had us wait 15min just to get a table ready when they were rather empty. They kept looking over at us but not communicating or accommodating. Didn’t even get to try it.
I've love this restaurant in the past and even recommended by a friend have her party there. Unfortunately when I went to the party I was highly disappointed and sad I recommended it. The view was beautiful as always however the air conditioners were not working for the room we were in. The staff was rude. Especially the bartender even after several guests complained about him to management. The only reason we went to the bar was because they were not keeping the water and lemonade filled and they ran out of sodas. The bathrooms were filthy and the food was just mediocre. Dinner was $60 per person and we actually left there after trying to eat the food and ate at El torito's since the food was so bad. Now I 100% would NOT recommend.
We visited this restaurant yesterday and were disappointed with the overall experience. I ordered the shrimp linguini, and for $38, I expected much better quality. The dish lacked flavor and wasn’t well executed. The pricing does not reflect the quality of the food. We visited this restaurant yesterday and were disappointed with the overall experience. My double patty burger was more like 2 cm thick in total, smothered in mayo and onion on a big brioche, thee thinnest two patties one could fit together. My fries were not up to taste , more like old oil had been saved in the fryer for two days or more…:/ while my boyfriends food never even showed up - 😞 after having sat an hour we gave up. They did remove his bread bowl of chowder from the bill. However why not just tell us instead of only bringing our appetizer? The waitress expressed the kitchen said, “it was already brought to the table” , had she been watchful as 3 tables filed in that sat ten minutes after us - they got their meals. While we still awaited my boyfriend’s clam chowder in a bread bowl. That for another 15 minutes had not arrived. While taking my plate away she mentioned his order was just being prepared. This was the worst service one could have. While the Pita chips they made special gluten - free for the Artichoke dip , were over cooked with again , with the over used oil in the kitchen’s fryer. We will not be returning here. I had heart burn and he had far a split Artichoke dip with no Clam Chowder in a bread bowl in sight. Too bad we could not eat the wonderful views of Marina Del Rey Harbor. The bar tender seamed to have his work in order. Too bad we got a table. However would the food have improved? We had paid the bill with his order removed and were under served while the waitress seemed to be used to the kitchen making a fool of her like this by now. That is sad.
