O Neil's Maspeth Reviews
Amazing and extensive menu offerings-- nice sized portions and we usually bring home the leftovers. Fair prices. My wife.and her brother have eaten here numerous times over the last few years and love it❤️ .
Pick up ready at stated time. The pizza - magnifico - as well as fried calamari, bloomin onion, and potato skins. Ample portions and $$$, but worth it. First visit, but not my last!
Nice spot with a great bar and multiple rooms for private catering. I provided DJ service for an event this past weekend. The servers there were very friendly and the food was spectacular! Being an outside vendor, I had a few questions as I got set up, and every staff member was courteous and accommodating. Usually, when vendors are treated this well, clients are treated like royalty. Highly recommended for private events!! :)
Casual Local Resturant ,with Outstanding food n Service . Aged on site Steaks , Very Fresh seafood. Enjoy a Football game , Throw a party, Just enjoy a meal. Valet parking is great!
A cousin took us here and we enjoyed. Family friendly dining room. Great sports bar and they even had a Mert & Greet with The Easter Bunny for kids in a special room Food was on the money. We differently will be back.
March was our server today. Service, food, atmosphere everything was perfect. I live around the area and I finally decided to dine in and wow everything was amazing.
I was here for a party & the food was very good. The apps that had were mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings,, calamari & spring rolls they were pretty good. They had a buffet & all of the food was flavorful. The buffet included salmon, meatballs, chicken parm, pasta, green beans & potatoes. The service was also very good as well.
Went to have holiday dinner with my team from work. Great service, food, atmosphere. Considering going back with family.
I hosted my baby shower here recently. The staff was wonderful, everyone said the food was great (a brunch buffet), and the fireplace room was beautiful. They had also surprised me by matching the sheet cake that came with the party to my theme instead of just writing a simple "Congratulations". I would definitely host another gathering here.
Stopped in here for a pint and was amazed by the history of this place. The bartenders were very friendly and generous enough to show me the 911 picture album which in fact made me tear up a little bit.
Hosted an event in their big room with catering. Was expecting ok/good food for a group of 80, but got great food instead. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Busy, livery lots of sport on screens, great food, good wait staff. No blaring music. 2 separated rooms for meeting or party.
Great Irish Sports Bar, food is great, inexpensive and plentiful. Staff very friendly and helpful. We came in from a wake and returned the next day after the funeral with 30 family members. They accommodated us no problem. The whole family had a great time during a stressful period. Thank you to the staff Great people.
I attended a baby shower here on Sunday afternoon. The entire experience was great. O'Neill's, although a sports bar/ restaurant is a great venue for a private party. The staff was attentive and the food was de-lish. I will definitely go back to have dinner.
A quiet UFC evening with beer and food at the bar... only when we paying, a waitress named Tif... cheated us out of 2 times tip……
Nice bartenders. Spacious place. You can have a private party there since they have 3 rooms. It is the oldest place in queens. You really meet locals there. Huge bar. And a nice selections of aged meats available. They also have some promotions, which means you may get a complimentary beer, hot pressed t shirt or hat. So cool!!
Just went here and had a great time. I was served by, quite possibly the best bartender I have ever been served by, and her name is Carla. A Guinness and wings have never been poured and served so well in New York. 5 out of 5 would recommend, especially if Carla is there.
Wings were excellent, and quite large. Had a really good salad as well. Not cheap, but not bad for the portion sizes. Beverage service was a bit slow. I would go back again.
Good selection of draft beers. Delicious wings and excellent service 😀
phenomenal. longtime friend (best man) and I couldn't have chosen a better spot to reunion. meatball sandwich, corned beef, steak fries light and crispy outside, meaty and rich inside. good drink selection. service from young, happy, engaging server attentive and bright.
One of the best meals I've had. Ordered the crusted salmon in a lobster bisque, and it was incredible with the beer being ice cold. One of my favorite restaurants.
Best restaurant in Queens! Without question the best chicken wings I’ve ever eaten. We had the striped bass for dinner and I swear you could practically see the fish moving. It was so fresh! Sunday brunch is also amazing. Excellent bloody Mary’s. No better place to watch Sunday football games. This place is a landmark in Maspeth. Been in the same family since the 1930s I think and they run the place away a bar restaurant should be run. Amazing service.
Service was friendly and good. We were at a sit down family event in a party room. The food was also very good. The salmon and roasted potato entree was just wonderful. O'Neills had prepared their own cake for this event and it was fresh and delicious too. Nice surprise from a local place with no fuss.
The restaurant has a bar and family setting. I went there for wing night. The promotion is 10 wings for a dollar a piece. They have different flavors. I did pineapple bbq and i thought it was pretty good. The wings came out fast. They were lukewarm but that's my fault as the next time I order, I'll ask for well done. Ordered French fries with cheese. That fries order can feed two hungry grown men or at least 3 or 4.
I’m in my 60’s, born and raised in NYC. I love food. If you love food, you will love O’Neills. I have been to O’Neills many times. I always start with the raw clams and oysters. They are consistently fresh, briny and delicious. The shrimp quesadilla and meatball sliders on garlic knots are always great. I have had their steaks, and they are very good. One reviewer gave the steak a terrible review and stated the steak was far less superior to Kean’s and The Old Homestead. Do I need to explain why that’s a ridiculous comparison? I can honestly tell you I have never been disappointed with a meal here. Flounder Francaise was the best I ever had. Burgers are great Pizza is great. Staff is great. Do not hesitate to give O’Neills a go.
Had such a nice Easter dinner today with my family at o’neill’s . The staff was friendly and very on top of we needed anything or to clean a dish that was done . The porterhouse for 2 was to die for i split that with my two little daughters they loved it . My parents got their favorite fish and chips . Great experience made my Easter such a nice day .
We celebrated my daughter's birthday there, we had an amazing time.
The food is excellent and the wait staff is friendly. The place is very clean. I've been going for years. Definitely recommend it!
I had a cheese steak on a sub roll. Outright delicious. My date had a burger. She let me have a bite. Phenomenal. Terrific staff. Loved the atmosphere. Parking isn't impossible.
I recently dined at O’Neill’s in Maspeth, NY, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fantastic, but what truly made the evening special was our waitress, Fiona. Her service was impeccable from start to finish. Fiona was attentive, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made sure we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. Her warm and professional demeanor added a personal touch that elevated our dining experience. I highly recommend O’Neill’s and will definitely be returning, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Fiona.
It is a nice cozy sports bar/restaurant (family own i think). It had a vibe that locals only go there, if you are not from the area you get stares, but service was great food was awesome. Oysters were so fresh we should have ordered more. Had some steaks with the hubby loved it.and fully approve by our picky eater classics pepperoni pizza. We had an awesome time, portion was huge Definitely need to take home. Loads of TV monitors everywhere even our little booth. For a sports fanatic you would love this place and feel at home and enjoy beers with the guys. Definitely a must try. We would definitely come again.
Food was amazing, everything was served really fast, we were a party of 6 and enjoyed it a lot, great place to talk and also watch football games. 10/10 on the service.
Watch any sports games you want ! Great bar with plenty of seats! I’ve tried a ton of the menu and was never disappointed! The dining area is also great to come with family.
I had a baby shower for my daughter here. I was totally impressed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was set-up elegantly with white tablecloths and cloth napkins. The food was delicious. And the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend O'Neill's Maspeth for your next party.
Recently had my mother's 80th celebration in one of O'Neills' party room. From the time of booking... to the end, I had a great experience. Ximena was patient, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations for menu options. Staff made last minute changes to the serving schedule to accommodate late comers, they quickly prepared another appetizer to accommodate a lactose intolerant guest...overall they were patient and gracious. The venue was clean, the food was delicious and even took care of the parking...valet service was great! Thank you!!
We went for a Buffett brunch after a Memorial Mass for a Dear friends Father nearby. The buffet was excellent with plenty of choices and served up fresh and delicious. Drink service was friendly and adequate too. I would definitely come back to explore their dinner menu with my wife when in the neighborhood.
I came here for the first time recently because of an event that I attended. This place is truly exceptional with its hospitality and service as the staff was fantastic. This restaurant is a well-known institution in Queens and has been in business since 1933, and I could see why they have been around for so long. I really didn't get a chance to try anything from their food menu, but the drinks I ordered were really good, and the bartenders are super nice. This place has a great sportsbar vibe, and it is a great place for hosting events since this restaurant is quite large. I noticed other reviewers complaining about the parking situation in this area, but since I came quite early, I didn't have any issues finding street parking near the restaurant. Based on my first impression of this place, I will definitely stop by again in the near future to grab a bite and a few drinks.
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The ambiance is fantastic with its captivating decor and lively music. The variety of TVs airing various sports events added to the energetic atmosphere. The service was top-notch, as was the waitress (Table 12 @9pm) was attentive and courteous throughout our visit. Our appetizers, including oysters, little necks, and the signature wings, were all delightful and set the tone for a great meal. The attention to detail extended to the drinks menu as well. Our waiter was a true professional, skillfully suggesting cocktail options that perfectly matched our preferences for liquor and mixers. When our main entrees arrived, we were thoroughly impressed. The pork chops and shepherd's pie were outstanding, boasting both flavor and generous portions. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a combination of delectable food, refreshing drinks, live sports, and enjoyable music. It's an ideal spot for both family gatherings and outings with friends.
The family has been coming here for years. Our Wednesday night visit we had the lobster dinner, a burger, the Chicken special, and chicken quesadilla for the youngster. All were excellent. The portions were good many took pieces home. Good draft and bottled beer selection. There is a dining room, a bar area, and a separate Grill room. The booths in the grill room have Outlets USB ports and really most important adjustable lighting controls on the wall.

This was right around the corner from out hotel and an easy walk - up hill going, down hill back. The food was excellent. We did to go and in restaurant and enjoyed everything we had.

Went there today for St. Patrick’s Day. Thought it would be a brunch menu but it was a traditional Irish menu which was great. My lamb stew was delicious! Kids had bangers and mash and it looked yummy! My whiskey sour one of the best I’ve ever had. Nice festive atmosphere. Was told when we made the reservation that they would have Irish step dancers but evidently that’s not until the evening. Was a bit disappointed about that. The waitress was excellent and so was the hostess. And the traditional Irish music over the sound system was excellent. Lovely day!
Good food but little pushy had little problem when i asked for my check and was in the company of few people when server took back the checks because had the gratuity of 20% already on it and had it removed, issued new checks without gratuity, it appears that 20% wasn't enough? Little confused on this issue! Parking is extremely bad around here opt for valet make your life easier and have fun
Hello all: let's see food was good but small portions Service was excellent plus never had a dirty table and always checked in on us to see if we needed anything. Bad thing place had a party in dinner area. I would go back but will not order any drinks the price for a small glass was insane, I know they have to make money but to over price a drink is wrong in so many ways. If they sold drinks at a reasonable price I would have ordered more and the rest of my company would have ordered at least one So in reality they lost money instead of 8 drinks there was only one ordered. In conclusion don't go on an empty stomach or looking for a small buzz.
O'Neill's is an institution of Queens!! Been around forever! An that says alot.. B4 the Fire an after the fire...this place has never skipped a,beat! Same 5 star service Same 5 star Food Love this Place! If u haven't been here.. U better get there!!
Great place to go and watch the game. I was there for the first time, and It was for a Holiday party. Great room in the back. Service was amazing. I definitely had a lot to drink.
Authenthic Irish Pub that really brings it with its hospitality and food options. Long gone are the days when you could spend an afternoon with your boys having lunch, drinks and placing bets on the ponies in the OTB booth... But this place is still worth a visit if your lookin for Irish Fare
The chicken tenders were big and super filling, nice rolls for the table, good beer selection, good wait staff, the Sheppard's Pie was hit or miss for the party some it was good others the vegetables were undercooked. The burgers were great, fiah and chips were good as well. Overall great experience nice bar atmosphere. Love the pictures of all the New York Rangers Alumni looks like Brian Leetch likes coming here.
O'Neill's has been a quality bar/restaurant for years! The food is consistently good. Service is pleasant and efficient. Crowds get loud during games but I've never seen any fighting. People are generally nice and friendly. My favorites on the menu are the fillet mignon and the teryaki chicken dumplings! Delicious! I highly recommend this place!
nice old school style pub and restaurant in maspeth. with a big bar in the center. definitely for sports fans. if you want to eat something, have a beer and watch a game this is the perfect place! the staff is nice and helpful, the food is good. if you order a steak be sure to ask for their own sauce - it's great! i recommend the swordfish and the steak! the desserts are also delicious. i recommend and enjoy your meal
Good neighbor spot. I am not a huge fan of sports but I definitely recommend if you love sports, bar type of spot! The food was average to be honest especially for the price. There are better places around... BUT! Customer service was excellent! They didn't smile at all 😆 but they were very diligent on checking in if everything was OK periodically and make sure we could enjoy the food. First time here so can't say about all the nemu. I ordered shrimp scampi without reading the whole description.... don't know why but I automatically expected pasta but it came out with yellow rice. Without any trouble, they provided pasta seperately which was AMAZING! Definitely GREAT customer service. I woukd give thousand star just for that! Burger was a bit under-whelmed but it was well seasoned! Overall, considering price- It's not the best butI do recommend if you need a place to eat out in the neighborhood.
I ordered the French dip panini and my husband had a burger which is said was good. The steak in my sandwich was tender and had a good meat, cheese, onion bread ratio. Au jus was very tasty but I would have preferred it a little thicker. I love that the steak fries were served in a cute little fry basket. Our waitress was very sweet, we felt very welcomed, atmosphere was a good vibe to just have a dinner and drinks with my husband. Can't wait to go back.
Such a cute pub in the borough. We were seated in a room that was less loud than the bar area. (Sunday night football) it got super cold then the temp became normal. Then there was a birthday party of five seated next to us where the guy (old enough say 50’s) yelling and cursing so loud he may as well have been in the main bar area yelling at the tv. He was drunk and otherwise put a eye-roll on our evening visiting with family we haven’t seen in over 10 years. I don’t envy the headache he no doubt earned himself. Otherwise the restaurant was a fun little spot to visit. Easy to get to via public transport.
Us and about 100 other people were attending a special event, the restaurant catered for us. \nThis review is only for the valet parking. Which is in the street.
Very kind service, went in for the hockey game. ambiance was incredible for a game day. Wasn't very packed. Food was good, nothing crazy either.
In order to make a good hamburger you need good meat. The burger had bits of grizzle and I could not eat it. I emphasized to the waitress about getting a rare burger. (Mine had a slight pink in…
I went last Saturday for the UFC and decided to have dinner there. My party ordered bbq wings, which were very good. They were cooked well, juicy not overcooked. The wings were also huge, which was a plus. The main course we ordered fish and chips and shepperds pie. We were very disappointed with our food. The fish had no flavor whatsoever. It was very bland and overcooked. The fish was very tough. The shepperds pie was also very bland with no flavor. It did look appealing due to its presentation. I've heard of O'Neills' reputation for yrs and expected a lot better
Dive bar seems popular for the neighborhood. Food was not great for me. Service was fine. Overall its really rundown inside
Nice place. I was excited to try this place out since moving into the neighborhood, but the waitress was so unfriendly. She didn’t bother much with us and seemed to have an attitude whenever we asked her for a drink or something. We were across from a family celebrating their child’s birthday today. Anyway, she didn’t offer or recommended anything off the menu. Took her like 20min after we got our drinks to asked us if we were ready to order. After taking our order She never came back to see if everything was alright or if we wanted more water or anything. Nop! My wife had to stop her to ask for more water and she would make a face whenever my wife asked her for something. We didn’t even bother finishing our food. We had to even stop her to get the check. We were going to get dessert, but why bother since we were sitting there for good time while she walked by several times.
Again, disappointing. I returned after going there about 3 years ago. Glasses dirty with what looked like lipstick stains. Specials of the day menu had food stains. Waiter didn't take everyone's order and we had to call him back. Place looks like it just needs to be deep cleaned. Husband ordered medium well done steak and it looked burned to death. Friend ordered cheese fries; bacon and the fries were cold. O'Neill's looks like it is relying on its reputation, but it is slipping. Update this April: What a difference! Great service. Waiter friendly and attentive. Good drinks! Appetizers were big portions. Calamari was delicious, as were the stuffed mushrooms and avocado bruschetta. Friends and Ihad the shrimp scampi, steak, and burgers. Everything was hot and delicious. Next update this July: We give up. The table we reserved was dirty. And the water glasses had lipstick stains again. On all 5 of our table's glasses! What the hell??? And the place was not busy at all. Food was good, but the place needs to clean up its act. Seriously!
This place goes on and on forever..party room after party room. The food was...not good....sad because the menu is appetizing. Service was a horde of youthful confusion, the seemed new and untrained. There were parties in every room so maybe that explains the inexperienced servers. Pretty establishment... maybe better for happy hour.
Was staying at a hotel near by and found oneills to be walking distance so we decided to give it a shot. I did not expect to have the most interesting dining experience in my life today. Our server was not knowledgeable of the menu and we needed to explain to him a good portion of the items we ordered. A guest in our party had to explain to him what a spiked lemonade was even though it was listed on the cocktail menu and is quite straightforward. Also the timing of our items was totally off. We got our wings first which was fine, but they weren’t even tossed in the sauces we asked for. The garlic butter was also literally that; slices of garlic in unsalted butter. Wings were meaty and crispy but lacking flavor. Calamari came out afterward and it was solid but nothing to remember. Then the chicken wrap entree came out after for the third guest, followed by the cheese fries I ordered with my wings which at this point I’ve practically finished and asked about twice prior to them being brought out. The icing on the cake was I asked for cheese on the side and again it was taken so literally. We got a hot order of waffle fries with 5 slices of cold American cheese on a side plate. Had to ask the server if this was correct to which they brought the cheese plate back to the kitchen and returned with a smidge of nacho cheese. I’m sure this place is reliable and staple for the neighborhood based on other reviews but i genuinely think we got unlucky and had one of the poorest dining experiences ever.
My husband and I went out for Valentine’s Day dinner. We order the poorhouse for 2 First of all it looked very nice but it was very greasy and fatty the creamy Spanish was cheese the mash potatoes where bland The server was very nice about it But I have to say. We will not go back there

1 star because… The food is very good and tasty here ! We were twice in this place for the party and once we had our own party, again the food was very good but polish waitresses make the party go wrong, they are rude most of the time, complaining, lazy, and I can say more and more how they behave, they also have no problem to say something inappropriate to people.. I was very upset!! My friend had exactly the same unpleasant situation at her party with them! I just say, if you want to do a party in this place great, I recommend this place, I highly don’t recommend these two waitresses !
They sold me a New York Strip as a Ribeye. The manager didn’t even have the courage or des envy to deal with the issue instead send out the chef. There is a big difference between the two steaks. I had no problem paying for a New York strip however I was still charge for a rib eye. I have had at least 25 Ribeye steak there before if you plan to order a ribeye ask yo see it first . They sent out the Mexican border hopper to try to educate me on what steak is what. The only best he knows is tacos
If I can give no stars I would. After waiting half an hour from the time we put our order in we were told that there was a problem with the printer and that's why our order was delayed. We were offered free drinks which was nice but the drinks weren't great at all. I originally ordered a steak medium rare but what I got was more like medium well. The person I was with ordered a pork chop that was extremely tough to cut through. The food just wasn't great at all. Will not be going back.
Stay away!! I never write these things but I had to after this experience. 1st my mother found a piece of rubber in her lobster bisque that she found after it was in her mouth (disgusting) then my sister found the same rubber piece in hers the waitress took the bowls away and was apologetic, then she came back and confirmed that they strained the pot of lobster bisque and they found more rubber in side... the waitress was great for the main fact she was honest, then I ordered a medium rare burger which came well well done. She then said she's trying to get in contact with her manager who was on vacation because this was unacceptable and we shouldn't have to pay for anything due to all these issues and she was right but then she told us my manager is on vacation and she not fully understanding the situation and she's sorry and she will take off the super well done burger and the lobster bisque.. the bench my mother and sister were sitting on was broken and kept rocking back and forth... their employee confirming that the lobster bisque was cooked with all that rubber in the pot is a health hazard at minimum you do not charge that table and pray the customer doesn't take further actions... any manager knows this. The worst was the bill wasn't even expensive it was 50$. The owner should really consider who he has in trusted to manage their business....
Honestly, the food is average quality, especially for their prices. If you want the food to taste better, definitely head to the bar and order some drinks (also not worth it, just get a beer) 😆. I'm simply not a fan of the restaurant. If you don't care for prices, expect average if you go here.
Terrible experience. There was a piece of rubber in my mom’s soup, 5 minutes later I found the same piece of rubber in my soup. Thankfully the waitress checked and found more rubber pieces in the soup and discarded it so it doesn’t happen to any one else. My brothers burger came out well done after he asked for medium rare. Our waitress was very nice and very sweet but the manager was on vacation and they didn’t have a replacement, therefore they made us pay for the rest of the food meanwhile we had the worst experience. The waitress was texting back and forth with her manager and her manager did not do much for us. Very disappointed considering I use to go here. Very terrible management and very terrible kitchen. Do better. Get a better manager.
Well, my friend wanted to celebrate her birthday and she decided to go to O’Neal’s friend. I wanted to go to the new steakhouse called Vida and I wish I did. They order the porterhouse for two they asked for medium rare. They got it well done I ordered the New York age strip something. It was so under cooked and cold. What the hell? No, I really don’t mind steak, medium rare but this was like out of the refrigerator. It didn’t look fresh. I’ve been here before many years ago and I was also disappointed and this is my third time coming back and disappointed again. I will never go back to that place for steaks. EVER. I think the best place to go eat a really good steak. Good quality is the old homestead in the Chelsea area. Or keen Shop on 36th St. And of course, we can’t forget Morton steakhouse. And there’s an amazing steakhouse Cuzins In Marlborough New Jersey and trust me when you see the cuts of meat in that place you’re gonna know you’re in a really good steakhouse. O’Neills will never do it for me again I end up paying $60 for French onion soup baked clams. The French onion soup was good and also the clamssteak never ever ever again disgusting.
Me and my wife went last night I ordered chicken fingers I got them I couldn't even bite through them they were so tough. Every time I wanted a beer the server was texting terrible service it used to be great
Do not eat here , Had a party recently here about 30 people, was a disaster from start to finish . Our whole party had two waiters one handing food at the buffet and one person doing drinks . Out of the 4 hours we were there they only came by for drinks twice , we had “unlimited drinks” but only got two drinks . Service was horrible . For the buffet the lady serving the food was pouring spoons full of liquid from the beef and pork on to the plate with our salads , flooding the plates with liquid ruining everyone’s salads . This place also charges a 3% credit card fee like it’s the year 1999 , no real restaurant has a credit card Fee in the year 2025
