I drank one of the best coffee ever

One of the best restaurants the city has to offer. The environment is so cozy and accompanied with jazz music at the right volume makes you want to go back. The service is good and the food options are varied too. El acontista even has a library where you can enjoy your meal while you are reading one of the books they have for you! From the menu I recommend the Pesto Pasta, my personal favorite.

Old trendy local place. Classic Medellin atmosphere. You probably will pass this pace unnoticed but worth to stop and enjoy live music. Lunch or coffee or drinks. .tiddy tuck away from most of the notorious travelers. 5 star

Nice place, bit artsy, and good pizzas and fair price for wines!!

E

Has a jazz club atmosphere, and actually had Monday night jazz bands before Covid. The food is good. Highly recommend.

Another place proving downtown can be an entertaining and cozy place. Their coffee is great, along with their bookstore, their decoration, and their lunch specials. A little hideout in the heart of the city.

G

Ate lunch there today food was good and the beer was cold the way I like it sometimes it's hard to get ice cold beer in Colombia. A guy was playing the accordion nice place for a beer and conversation

Wow Delicious food! Chef Haider has combined flavors in dishes that's really hitting home runs.

R

Great place for a jar of wine and some music on Monday nights. They also have a bookstore upstairs during the day.

Cozy, music is nice in the background without drowning out conversation. Food is tasty, prices are moderate.

Great place to enjoy some jazz night and have pizza. Super affordable prices for all and a great setting. They have a library and cafe on site as well. Good service too. I had the acontista pizza and some others had other pizza too, good crust. Highly recommend this place for all

I was walking by and decided to pop in here. I hsd a busy day and lost track of time exploring so my appologies i forget what i ordered! Let's say I had a "steak sandwhich" and a cappuccino. They were both made fast and tasted great. It's near some creepy people on the street but they won't bug you. It adds to the atmosphere 😊 I will come here again! 💯 Please follow @bouncingplaces as I travel the world 🌎 ❤️ sharing my experiences! See you in the next one! 😎 ❤️ 👍 💯

The wife and I were walking to another place when we passed by. We decided to drink some coffee and it was a great experience. The upstairs bookstore was amazing if you want to pick something up to read with your coffee as my wife did.

in Parque del Periodista, Medellín, is a fantastic spot with a cozy and stylish ambiance. The decor is modern yet warm, perfect for a relaxed meal. The food is delicious—flavorful, fresh, and well-presented. Drinks are creative and refreshing, especially their cocktails. The service is top-notch: friendly, attentive, and helpful. The only downside is the location—it’s a bit hard to find and parking is tricky. Still, it’s worth the effort! Highly recommend for a great dining experience. 9/10

Went for the jazz nights. The pizza marggerita and sangria are great, especially at that price. Highly recommend one Monday evening spent here. You'll need to make reservations in advance.

No wifi so I guess it’s only a place to eat meanwhile they have a library upstairs so it seems a bit deceiving

R

Different sort of vibe for Medellin, a jazz bar. The chairs are quite uncomfortable and not really conducive to hanging out. Music is very quiet and hard to hear over the crowds (at least on a Friday night). Probably better when they have live jazz.

C
Carlos Restrepo

The menu could be more broad. Nevertheless, the hamburger is superb because of the meat quality.

This place has live Jazz on Monday nights. Good clean crowds very good and reasonable food.

I love the way the light makes this place a soft and delightful experience. Great music taste.

A
Alvaro Tejada (Varo)

I really liked the ambient of this place, it is cozy, relaxed, with good music. The staff is very kind and attentive with your needs and the food is good as well. I enjoyed the coffee as well. A place I definitely will continue to choose to have a nice relaxed time with friends or on my own. My only complaint, and it's why I evaluate the service with 3 stars, is that they don't take any type of card for you to pay. It's a cash only business.

S
Santiago Diaz Zapata

went to have dinner, i like getting to know places in downtown to have something to eat… my experience was quite average, but i’m sure it could be better next time. there was a big birthday table that didn’t let us listen to any jazz or music, and, as a personal comment, no christmas decoration is better than half christmas decoration. food and service were normal good, not great. but it’s a good place and option for a jazz night, romantic dinner or even i hear they have a reading club

S

Cool cafe/bar atmosphere and tasty food. We came here for lunch, and enjoyed some chicken, french fries and soup from the menu of the day. The food was delicious and the place was bustling with the local lunch crowd, so it makes for good people watching. They have live jazz on Monday nights that I have yet to check out. I would definitely come back for that! This is also a fun area to walk around during the day and take in the local hustle and bustle of downtown Medellín life. For lunch, they had no menus - only a verbal description of the daily lunch menu, so if your'e Spanish is rocky it's good to be prepared ahead of time!

I went for the Monday night jazz and had a pizza while I waited for the music to start. Must say I was very pleasantly surprised by the very hip atmosphere and the decent food. It is a great night out just a block from Parque Periodista.

A Jazz Haven with Room for Improvement El Acontista is a charming café in Medellin that offers a delightful blend of jazz memorabilia and a cozy atmosphere. The decor is a jazz enthusiast's dream, with vintage instruments and photos adorning the walls. I stopped by for a coffee frappé, which was expertly crafted and incredibly satisfying. However, my experience was somewhat marred by the indifferent service. Despite the café not being overly crowded, it was challenging to get the attention of the staff. Their demeanor seemed somewhat cold and unwelcoming, which was a stark contrast to the inviting ambiance. While I'm willing to give El Acontista the benefit of the doubt, I believe that the establishment would greatly benefit from more attentive and friendly staff. The service, particularly when it came time to ask for the bill, felt perfunctory and impersonal. Overall, El Acontista is a promising café with a lot to offer. The unique atmosphere and delicious drinks make it a worthwhile destination. However, improvements in customer service are necessary to ensure that visitors have a truly enjoyable experience.
