La Botte Melgrate Reviews
We were looking for a place to eat on our first night in N Italy and thankfully they were open (Sunday and end of season). Food was straight forward, regional and delicious. I had the Pizzoccheri (buckwheat pasta, potato, cheese) and my wife had Pasta Pomodoro. They had the usual tourist food (burgers, pizza, salads, steaks) but felt like we should have something Italian. It was good comfort food after a long travel. Funny thing was the google translation of the phrase at the top of the receipt was ‘Bring Cash, Order Barrel’.
A warm, friendly snd family feel bar and restaurant. Fresh food, great value, nothing too much trouble. We had a lot of drinks and food, would imagine for food and a drink around €20 each.
Great value for money. Nice staff, great location at the tables outside with the Como lake view and Lecco on the other aide of the lake. The food offer is not big with covers the main local specialties and few classics. Nothing fancy but great great value for money and very tasty. The drinks come with some consistent food snacks from the house. Highly recommend the place.
very nice staff. a quiet environment and an alluring wine bar, where you will find many kinds of Italian wines, which for me was like a paradise. I also enjoyed a great selection of Belgian beers. The restaurant is fully prepared for foreigners and can also taste the gourmet, like me.
A great little oasis. We found plenty of American-friendly items on the menu and a nice list of wines as well. The only negative was the slow service, but after your second Hugo Spritz, who cares? Good overall experience.
More like a factory. No personal contact. We where "granthed" to eat. And we where more "granthed" to pay and leave.
After our regular jogging by the lakeside, we decided to eat here. They spoke English and were pleasant to us. The pub has a nice aesthetic and like our usual practice, we always come earlier than the rest of the people so we can get the best seat and view and to be able to take photos without other people on it
We went to grab some coffee and a cold meats platter. The waiter who I assume was the owner sat us down with some menus in English. After a few minutes he came to get our order and after asking for the cold meats platter and an espresso I asked if they have latte macchiato, which was answered with quite an angry rude response "this is a pub, not a coffee shop, we only have espresso and cappuccino". I then asked if they had orange juice and he sort of rolled his eyes disappointingly and reiterated his point and then just left our table. After quite a while of waiting, a waitress asked what we would like to order and when we said we had given our order already (we thought he might've taken the order and was just going to come back to get the other drink order), she informed us that there was no order taken for our table so we left
scam place be aware. Rhey try to scam tourists. I was there with my LOCAL partner and his father. We had 3 salads and alcohol free drinks. My partner ordered in Italian - again locals. The y brought out aperol which we didn't order. When I went inside to pay the bill, the cashier refused to give me the itemized bill before paying, I asked as I wanted to check if the Aperol was taken off. Well they started yelling and when I paid only after I mentioned I need the bill I got it and the Aperol was on. When I demanded my cash back for the Aperol I got yelled at. Food very mediocre and on the expensive side for Lecco. Especially if you're a tourist be aware and check the bill.
Great views. Disgusting food. No flavour at all. I gave back the food without eating it and was still charged at full price. I explained that it is not correct to serve this food without any flavour and I hope they will stop being a tourist trap.
Ordered the daily special—Roast chicken that was old, dried out and overcooked. The french fries and water were good. I was sitting by the lake and had to go inside the restaurant to pay as the waiter disappeared. I told the owner about the chicken and was told I didn’t owe anything. Hopefully no food poisoning.
Awful management of the kitchen and service. Unbelievably slow, the waiters lose time. And unfortunately just one person in the kitchen. I asked help and information because of an allergy and they got mad about it. However, beautiful view right on Lake Como. Really unfortunate to manage a bar in this way in such a beautiful location.
