The Halston Melville Reviews
We had an absolutely incredible experience at The Halston. The food was truly exceptional, every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with care. You can tell they take pride in every detail. The service made the night even better. Max was phenomenal, attentive, professional, and completely on top of everything throughout our entire dining experience. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made the evening seamless and enjoyable. Gianni was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel right at home. His warmth, hospitality, and genuine care for his guests are unmatched. He went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and taken care of. He is absolutely the main reason we’ll be coming back. Highly recommend! This place delivers on food, service, and atmosphere in every way.
Celebrated my birthday dinner and again, as always, it was 10/10. Manager Gianni and server Kat go above and beyond to make your dining experience memorable. This is my go to restaurant for any special occasion or just getting together with friends. The food and service are above my expectations EVERY TIME. Shout out to the sushi chefs, they are so creative! Not only delicious and so fresh, but works of art! If you haven't been here, you're missing out.
Just wrapped up our first experience at the Halston and will absolutely be return customers. the menu is extensive yet every option was delicious, with a great price fix 3-course option. We had the rib eye Oscar style, calamari, brownie desert and a remarkable sushi platter appetizer. The atmosphere was upbeat, clean and welcoming. Our waiter Kenny took excellent care of us, and manager Gianni went the extra mile to ensure we were having a 10/10 experience. Not to mention he’s an absolute stud. The Halston is one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had on the Island.
The Halston in Melville offers a lovely atmosphere, perfect for a high-end dining experience. We went there for a work lunch, and it’s an excellent spot for hosting clients. The restaurant is conveniently located on the service road of the LIE, making it easily accessible. The food was outstanding—the burger was fantastic, the sushi was fresh, and the calamari appetizer was a great start. Of course, we couldn’t resist ordering the onion rings, which did not disappoint. Highly recommend for business meals or a classy night out.
Top Quality Restaurant, Excellent Food and Service. Sushi is Top Notch! We recommend it Highly!
Our waiter Max & helper Anthony were fantastic, they kept checking on us & made sure we didn't want for anything. The food was fantastic. We loved everything we tried. Can't wait to go back & try the rest of the menu.
Had an incredible experience at The Halston! Manager John was incredibly courteous and attentive, constantly checking in on tables to ensure everything was perfect. Security Jorge was professional and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. And of course, drinks were phenomenal and the food was absolutely amazing!
My first time here and I'm expecting good things as all of the other Scotto restaurants are amazing. The Halston does Not disappoint! The food was spectacular. Lobster dumpling app was such a new take on a dumpling and it was absolutely delicious. NY strip cooked perfectly as well as the Halibut special. Lychee Martinis were perfectly balanced and the apple tart desert was so good. Kyrie was excellent. Very attentive and on point throughout the meal. Looking forward to coming back and trying more off the menu.
My boyfriend and I went to The Halston for the first time last night and had a wonderful dining experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. A special thank you to Cori for coming to our table and being so gracious. I’ve already spread the word about the restaurant, and look forward to having dinner there again.
Ive dined at other Scotto restaurants in the past and this steak was probably the best yet. We had the Porterhouse, recommended by our waiter who was very down to earth and accommodating, the Wagyu special, as well as a bunch of apps (maybe the best lamb chops I’ve ever had) and some sushi and dessert. Kyle, our waiter was super knowledgeable about all of the menu items, super detailed in describing the specials and he felt like talking to a regular guy, not a fancy uptight waiter. We’ve eaten here before and will continue to come back. My dad also loves the smoked old fashioned, smoked table side by Kyle.
The Halston never disappoints! Last night’s experience was one of the best! Our server Kyle was on his game in every aspect! Super excited about what he does, and he does it so well! We ate like Kings and every morsel was delicious and savory! Like I said, the Halston never disappoints!! Thank you Kyle for making our evening even better!!!
The ambience in this restaurant is top notch. Good music and has a dance floor. Variety of drinks and extensive food menu. I will definitely be coming back.
We had their terrific price fixe special that gives you oh so many choices. Food was delicious, atmosphere is stunning and our waiter Max was so attentive and helpful - loved our evening!
Food was great, our waitress was so sweet and guides in the right direction on what to order, I had a cosmo which was def my favorite! For apps we had the grilled octopus 10/10! The sushi rolls are great
We thoroughly enjoyed another exceptional dining experience at The Halston last Saturday evening. The restaurant’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the service and ambiance. Our server, Amber, demonstrated impressive knowledge of the menu and provided attentive, unobtrusive service that greatly enhanced our experience. We look forward to returning.
I reserved a dinner for my husband with a colleague. He could not stop giving compliments for the place and especially for a great friendly service by Kyle. Kyle is awesome! Coming back definitely.
Great Meal. Nice Atmosphere. Kenny was our server and he made the night special. His recommendations were spot on. Will definitely return and will request Kenny. Give this place a shot. You won’t be disappointed
Went for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday here. We made reservations for the Boujee Brunch and it was amazing !!! Our server Kenny was super entertaining, gave superb food and drink recommendations. Will go back !!!
Outstanding just like all the Scotto restaurants. The staff is well trained, the food is excellent, they are family friendly.
Third time here. Always the best experience. I love a place that’s consistently delicious, with the best service and accommodations for a large party. I can’t say enough great things about Kenny, our waiter. The poor guy was shouted at from 16 different directions and was a star. Always happy to be back.
Everything was outstanding! The food, ambiance, and staff were superb. Chef Juan's food was creative and tasty. Our server, Kenny, was fabulous.
Very cool place with excellent food and sushi. The atmosphere here is awesome and they have an outdoor section where they let you enjoy your cigar(which you can purchase from them if you like).
I had my birthday celebration here with all my friends about 20 of us yesterday on the 1st of june and i can’t say enough the service from our waiter Kenny has been phenomenal !! I also want to thank Corri the one who deals with big reservation for big parties who put it all together for me. i had such an amazing experience and all my friends enjoyed the experience of the boozy brunch. I can’t recommend this place enough !!
I have been to Blackstone, One 10 and Insignia, they are very good, But I have a new favorite now, Halstron. Ask for Kenny to be your waiter he is a cut above the rest. They made my 27th Wedding Anniversary a very memorable one. I'll be back.
Kenny was our waiter and let me say he is amazing! Super on point and attentive. Knew his stuff and very helpful! Will be back soon
I haven’t heard many people talk about this place and after being there I think it’s because they are doing some gatekeeping. Number one it’s absolutely gorgeous inside. Number two the staff was extremely friendly. Number three the food and drinks were delicious. Our server Dennis C was exceptionally great throughout our whole dinner experience as well. He was always checking on us in perfect timing and amazingly kind with accommodating my preferences, even going out of his way to make our dinner special. Having been to many many restaurants on Long Island I have to say this might be one of the best. I have definitely added this place to my list of favorites to recommend.
The room was beautiful, dimmed lighting. The scoustics were very good. The room was full yet it wasn't loud. Our server Kyle was very knowledgeable and attentive. We plan to come back on our next school break. All the food was delicious
Joined a group of friends to celebrate a party for this week's past boozie brunch. The Halston is a beautiful restaurant, with a gorgeous bar, sushi bar, and spacious floor plan. Our table ordered a number of appetizers ranging from the lolly pop chicken, tuna tartare, clams casino, oysters, and more. Accompanied by assorted drinks like the refreshing pear mimosa, classic mimosa, cocktails, new in fashion (unfavorable twist on an old fashion?), and a crisp glass of a draft blue moon. The girls and I even took a moment to have it out on the dance floor prior to our entrees arriving, including avocado toast, chicken 'n waffles, lobster roll, eggs Benedict, and sushi. Unfortunately, my husband and I didnt quite enjoy how loud the music for brunch was being played, despite being sat furthest away from the DJ. Due to the volume, it was quiet hard to hear each other and the server, who in which I often struggled to call over to be hear. There was also quite difficulty from our server and the manager to have our check split since we needed to leave earlier than the rest of our party. We frequent the Anthony Scotto restaurants in which we personally favorite Rare650, our little brother preferring One10, and I dine at Insignia with my corporate friends. I wouldn't mind giving the Halston another try on another night instead of the boozy brunch, though, first impressions weren't as expected. Thank you for your time and service.
I really enjoyed the overall experience here. Beautiful restaurant, trendy, well appointed, great food and drinks... There were a few misses... The wedge salad came out chopped, the dipping sauce for one of the apps came out after we were finished and the bronzino was not filleted. However with this said all dishes were delicious... The specially sushi roll was fresh and delicious, all fishes were cooked to perfection, the specially drink made at the table was fun and tasty and the desserts were terrific. We'd definitely return here.
The service was exceptional. The whole atmosphere is definitely a well displayed as a way of how a dining experience should be . Clean and simplistic. Waiters were cordial, and the food presentation was good. This a place probably best to go if you are trying to have a business dinner.
Great atmosphere and fantastic food! Personally not a fan of the lobster roll I ordered, just didn’t have that kick I was hoping for but maybe it’s me. Appetizers were absolutely fantastic, highly recommend the rock shrimp, shrimp tempura and calamari. Service was exceptional!
I came here for lunch with my work crew to celebrate the holidays. The restaurant's decor has changed again since it used to be Jewel and then Bijou. I thought it looks really nice and can see why it's popular with the work crowd. We had the Onion Ring Tower, the Spinach and Artichoke, and the Fried Calamari for appetizers. They were all very good and better than what I had expected. I had the Brown Butter Warm Lobster Roll for my entree. It was a very big portion with a lot of lobsters and it was pretty good. This is a nice restaurant for lunch or after-work get together with colleagues
The food was very good. The service was great as well but to be fair it was a slow afternoon. Not sure how it would hold up given a busy night like a lot of other comments alluded to. But they get the benefit of the doubt from me. Overall a solid 3.5/5.
I’m an industry person so I may pay attention to things that the average guest wouldn’t. I love having my napkin folded when I walk away from the table. I love steak knives preset on the table after appetizers. I love my water being filled without asking. I LOVE a crumber. I loved that the server brought over the drinks her manager stole the sale for before entrees hit the table. If you like the same things come here. Our whole experience cost us about $450 with tip, from happy hour at the bar to the table till dessert and after dinner drinks. Shout out to Kay and Gianni for making our experience memorable.
We had a party of 8 celebrating a birthday on a Friday night reservations made for 5:30- which when we arrived they "couldnt find" yet they were able to seat us. The interior is very esthetically pleasing. We arrived shortly before the "after work bar crowd" dispersed and the music and chatter was very loud. About 20 minutes after we arrived the bar noise subsided however, the background music was still too loud, (which seems to be an issue in many restaurants lately) guests shouldn't have to shout across the table to be heard or be sitting right beside someone to converse. Our server KENNY was incredibly attentive, and helpful with menu questions. He was very aware of ALL his tables. I watched him at other tables and his interaction with guests was exemplary. We chose a variety of appetizers and shared them. The onion ring tower was a huge hit, the calamari was spicier than we expected, but prepared well, our table also had the lollipop chicken which was very tasty. The NY strip was cooked to perfection. The duck was said to have been delicious. Bronzino was also very good however, the ribeye was extremely under seasoned, I had the pork chop which was nicely spiced perfectly cooked to medium, and came with house made potato chips which were the best I've had to date. Sides ordered in addition to our mains were the creamed spinach which was "meh" the broccolini -very undercooked and under seasoned. Sweet potato fries- nothing special and had no salt or seasoning. All the food was piping hot, a definite plus to the kitchen but also shows that Kenny didnt waste any time serving as soon as the plates were ready! All in All the service was exemplary, (Thank you KENNY!) Most main dishes were well prepared and tasty yet a bit over priced, (especially the steaks, IMO)
We had a very nice dinner tonight at the Halston. The food and drinks were delicious! Our server Gina M. and her attention to detail and pleasant personality made this a very special evening.
First time here. Went for price fixed dinner. My strip steak and mashed potatoes very salty. Basically giving you a free dessert for the price. Our waiter was excellent. Tried it. Would not go back for the price.
I have eaten here with family and friends since it was Jewel, Bijou and now Halston. Great food wonderful atmosphere. I have eaten in and have ordered out on numerous occasions. Highly recommended along with all the other group of their restaurants from One North now opus, insignia, blackstone to one10 as a good life member I highly recommend when on Long Island to anyone that enjoys fine dining.
The food here was phenomenal but the way the place is run needs improvement. NYE pre fixed menu $99/person was a great deal that was supposed to include DJ and champagne toast. Unfortunately the place was so extremely overbooked that the DJ didn't start when he was supposed to, dining tables filled the dance floor while people waited at the bar. We actually left and came back because most places required pre-purchased tickets. Champagne toast never happened. Workers and customers were all complaining. The next day I notice an email from opentable that my reservation was cancelled. Contacted the restaurant and a lovely girl Luciana advised me that she would have her manager reach out to me but yet left with no phone call for resolution. I would think a place of this caliber would take pride in their reputation with customers. It's disappointing. Especially when the food is superb.
I came on Saturday night with my family, and entered into the same lively atmosphere that I was accustomed to when I used to come back when it was Bijou. It’s nice to see the buzz hasn’t died down under the new name. However, the food wasn’t great. Nothing felt fresh. Our orders came out really quick from the kitchen despite the restaurant being full to capacity. I was happy to get my food promptly, but would’ve sacrificed a few more mins to get a freshly prepared dish. Our waiter was incredibly busy so we couldn’t get the attention we needed, but we could tell he was managing a lot so didn’t complain. I may give them one more shot on a less busy night to see if we have a better dining experience.
Went there for a birthday dinner, just two of us and I'll be totally honest. The place is beautiful (always has been even when it was Jewel) and some of the staff were very sweet. The Caesar salad was delish. Other than that, will never go back to this place. For what we received and experienced, it's over priced, many of the food items came out lukewarm or cold, we were trying to hold a conversation, but by 940ish loud club music came on and got louder. If you are going to turn into a club, wait until your dinner patrons are done and gone, but that was obnoxious, it brought "un-class" to what seems like a classy/beautiful venue. Our server was nice, but needed more training in some of the food.
Food and server was great BUT we had made reservations on OpenTable for Valentine’s day and called the restaurant to confirm their hours and were initially turned off The hours on google maps show they close at 9:00 pm, and our booking was for AFTER that time as that’s what was shown on OpenTable. To double confirm, we called the restaurant and the lady on the phone was rude. We asked what time they are open until, and instead of just stating a time, she said “do you have a reservation? whatever you see online is the time we are open until.”???? Which person in the service industry ever responds in that manner?? Second of all, we arrive at the restaurant and we check in at the front & the guy with glasses rudely tells us “we’re closed.” Meanwhile the restaurant is fully packed and we had booked on OpenTable.. oddly enough, they couldn’t find our reservation and we showed our confirmation. They ended up seating us but didn’t look too happy about it. Super rude and unprofessional, and embarrassing for any guest. Thankfully our server was great and very sweet. She took care of us and the food was a solid 8/10. No one wants to enter a restaurant for the first time on a dinner date and be treated in that manner. It’s really rude and uncalled for and I hope the people at the front don’t treat any future guests in the same tone as they did us. Your team should probably look at your OpenTable account and fix your hours and not leave guests with a bad first impression. Mind you, by the time we left the restaurant, there were STILL guests at the bar and plenty parties still seated.
Walking in, The Halston certainly gives off the upscale, polished vibe it aims for. The space is modern, with a comfortable yet sleek décor and a large enough footprint to feel busy but not chaotic. For what the venue promises—an elevated American kitchen and bar by the accomplished Anthony Scotto group—there’s no question the concept is alluring. The bar area, the lighting, the menu’s variety, all suggest a place prepared to deliver. However, the atmosphere ended up being one of the few areas that lived up to expectations. The sushi was not the best and the steak was over cooked and tasteless, would not return
I will start off with CONS: do NOT come here for a holiday. We had an 11 o’clock reservation for New Year’s Eve and got seated at 12:15. This is the fault of the MANAGER. We even spoke to the manager about 40 minutes into waiting and he couldn’t care less about how long the wait was. He did not even apologize. I do believe we should’ve been compensated in some form due to the over hour wait. It’s the least the manager could’ve done. I do not believe the restaurant was overbooked. It was VERY clear people overstayed their welcome at their table. When making the reservation it stated the allotted time frame for your party size. The manager did not ensure that people got up from their tables after their allotted time frame was up, which resulted in people not getting seated for their reservation time in a timely manner. I have been at restaurants where they are very busy, and I am told I need to get up soon since my allotted time is up and there’s other people waiting. I have NEVER had a problem with management doing this since it is a proper way to run and manage a restaurant so everyone has a good dining experience. Maybe the manager never dealt with this amount of people dining before, but this needs to be a MASSIVE lesson learned for him. I saw him bouncing around the restaurant, but didn’t see him go up to a single table to respectfully tell them they need to leave their table shortly. Most tables I observed were all done with their food and drinks… they were just waiting for the ball to drop. It was inconsiderate and unacceptable. Management needs to fix this for the future. Me and my boyfriend were extremely unhappy and starving. PROS: food was great and our waitress was very kind. Food came out in a timely fashion. We finished our 3 course meal around 1:30. I asked our waitress if we can still have our free glasses of champagne and told her we were supposed to be seated at 11pm, and she gave us our free champagne which was supposed to be for the midnight champagne toast. Very nice restaurant with a nice bar. Not sure I would go back to this restaurant, but on a regular day that’s not a holiday I’m sure it would be a pleasant overall experience.
So I just came in and they charge me $34 for a double vodka this time. If this a place I want to come and invite people? Different prices ever time? 🤔 no
Went here for New Year’s Eve with a 10:00 PM reservation. We arrived at 9:40 PM and checked in right away but were simply told to wait—no explanation or updates. Other guests arriving were told they would receive a text when their table was ready. We waited right by the host stand so we wouldn’t miss anything. It took over an hour and multiple check-ins with the host before we were finally seated. We hadn’t eaten all day because we planned to have dinner here and ring in the New Year. We were seated at a very small corner table. Thankfully, bread arrived within five minutes. We started eating right away but had to stop because no water had been brought to the table, making it difficult to eat. We then waited again just to receive menus. After placing our order, we noticed a table that was seated 15 minutes after us, with the same waiter, received their food before we did. Our appetizers finally arrived at 11:40 PM, and our entrées came at 12:30 AM—already well into the new year. The entrée was supposed to come with mashed potatoes, but no sides were served. When we asked our server, he told us to wait because they were “coming.” After waiting some more and asking again, we were informed that they had run out of our sides and we needed to choose a different one. At that point, we couldn’t wait any longer and ended up finishing our entrées without any sides. Dessert was an ice cream sundae, but the brownie pieces were rock hard—we almost broke our teeth. We were never offered coffee, tea, or anything else. The check was simply dropped at our table. To make things worse, hats, tiaras, and champagne were given to other tables for the New Year celebration, but our table was completely missed. We had to ask for the hats ourselves and were never offered champagne. We have dined here before when it was Bijou, and it was a great experience. Unfortunately, Halston was a complete disappointment—especially for New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was extremely disorganized and clearly overbooked. We honestly would have had a better experience at Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse. This was a terrible way to ring in the New Year.
ONLY LEAVING ONE STAR BECAUSE I CANNOT LEAVE ZERO!!!! This experience at Halston’s was beyond disappointing. We ordered the tomahawk steak, and it came out burnt and over-charred, with a strong burnt taste throughout. This wasn’t a “good sear” — the flavor was ruined, especially unacceptable for a steak at this price point. When we addressed this with the first manager, Gianni, he was extremely dismissive. His response was, “Sorry you didn’t love it, I didn’t cook it,” and he walked away. No accountability, no effort to make it right, and an attitude that made us feel uncomfortable for even speaking up. After that, we spoke to a second manager, Carlos, and the situation somehow got worse. Carlos was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, he repeatedly emphasized that the only thing he could do was offer a $50 gift certificate for a future visit — which is pointless, because after this experience, there will never be a next time. What was most shocking was his explanation for not coming to our table earlier. He said he didn’t approach us because “it was the other manager’s side” and that “it doesn’t look good to have two managers at the table.” That statement alone says everything. He was clearly more concerned with how it looked to other customers than actually fixing a guest’s bad experience or making things right. At no point were we rude or demanding. We simply expected professionalism, empathy, and accountability. Instead, we were met with defensiveness, arrogance, and managers more focused on optics than hospitality. For a restaurant that positions itself as upscale, this level of management behavior is unacceptable. Food issues can happen — but how management handles them is what defines a restaurant. Halston’s failed completely in that regard. We will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others who expect respectful service and competent management.
We were really excited to try the food with Al the reviews we saw. We made reservations for the NYE at 10:30pm but never got sat. We met four other groups/couples that had reservations at 10pm, at 11pm they were still being told a 30 min wait. The place was packed and it seemed the only people being sat knew someone who was already sitting. We saw many people walk it and since no one was being sat we left since we needed some food. It was disappointing to see how this place was being run and that they were deleting comments off of their instagram.
went here for new years eve because they had a fixed menu that looked great but we were never seated because they did not have enough tables for the amount of reservations they approved. We were waiting for over an hour and a half and the poor hostess were giving us no direction. No1 had answers and the owner did not plan this out professionally. I will never come here again.
As someone who dines out a lot, this place is a miss. The service is absolutely atrocious and the food is way overpriced for what it is. Some decent dishes, but incredibly inflated prices for the quantity and quality, and our food tasted like it was sitting there bc our waiter was MIA most of the time. A couple people in my group got there early and sat at the bar and the bartender did not so much as glance in our direction. I guess they don't like making money? And no, it wasn't that busy. When we got to the table, we waited nearly 2 hours for our main course, and long periods of time in between drink rounds. We told the manager when he came by and we mentioned the long wait and he did comp 2 desserts (come on that's like nothing) but our bill was still well over $700 with tax and tip. Scotto bros, this place needs some work. I waitressed and hostessed back when I was in school so I know what a good dining experience is like from inside the house and this isn't it.
