Hacienda Teya Mérida Reviews
A very special place to visit, to enjoy great food and even do a little shopping in the lovely gift shop!!
Highly recommend to get the full Merida experience. A very traditional place where local families go to eat. Traditional food very well prepared, original seasonal plates on the menu as well. The place to try out local food. We tried Polcanes Negros, they were extraordinary. Service very nice and friendly. Cocktails also very recommended! Dont miss out the local honey liquor Xtabentun, amazing in a carajillo.
One of a kind location with amazing food. Visited in March 2024 with two children, 7 and 9. The building is a restored 380-year old hacienda. The staff were friendly and professional dressed in traditional outfits. The kids were enchanted by the peacocks and little deer on the property. The menu uses traditional Yucatan ingredients. No chicken fingers here. We ordered the salbutes (see picture), empanadas de chaya (a very nutritious spinach-like vegetable), and a to-share plate of cochinita pibil, poc-chuc, and lomitos. You can ask for the menu in English or Spanish to avoid surprises. Here’s the link to both menus: https://linkr.bio/haciendateya?from=qrcode Would absolutely visit again.
Hacienda Teya is the perfect place to have authentic yucatec food. The Hacienda is gorgeous and so are its surroundings. It’s not far from Mérida and both, food and service are impeccable. It always amazes me that this food never upsets my stomach. I feel that food outside of the US in general is healthier, wholesome and fresher. Anything from the menu is delicious so worth the drive!
Simply extraordinary! The service was the best we have experienced in Mexico, the food was fresh and tasty, we ate every last morsel. Choosing from the many options on the menu was the most difficult task. We had a chicken dish, a turkey dish, and a beef dish, all unique, all equally good. When you go, ask to be seated in the room overlooking the garden, so you can watch the deer and the peacocks putting up a show just for you. After you eat, make sure you visit the grounds, the ballroom, and the church. Great food, great service, great prices. The flan was the best choice for desert, and the best we ever had. Thank you for a memorable experience!
A must. Whatever you are into local, Yucatan food or Maya you should try and stop here for a meal. Luxury service yet very affordable each meal will deliver a unique combinations of smell and taste, to bring home what will be one of my best food experience in the peninsula. The flan is amazing, if you still have space at the end of it. We had it twice! They also have a special tray for sharing, combining the most famous local cuisine in one. Add a shot of ojo de tigre mezcal while outside you observe deers and peacocks curiously watching you dilated eyes for this great experience. Definitely recommend. Can get crowded so plan accordingly or wait patiently.
One of our top 10 favorite restaurants in the world. Always pass by here when near Merida. Absolutely not to miss. Best Yucatan food, drinks and service. Gets very busy but the service is friendly, fast and efficient. This place has existed for 300 years and it's obvious why it's a true jewel of Merida.
This place was recommended by one of the taxi drivers, and let me say it did not disappoint. The outside is beautiful full off trees, plant, and beautiful buildings plants of spots to take pictures. We go there right when they opened and were able to sit buy the window that sees out to there graden with all the animals. We got to see some deer, iguanas, and different birds. I was a great experience. The food was delicious and fresh. We got the panuchos, salvutes, cochinita, and the guacamole with carne aumada every was so good I recommend the agua de lima and the agua de chaya. Next time we visit we will be going again.
Went there for lunch. Good food in general. Service was super fast, ambience was ok, the venue was old fashioned. Kind of loud though. The beef with a special tomato sauce was very tasty, so was the longaniza. Hand made corn tortillas with every dish. I really recommend the lima fresh water and the bitter orange cocktail (habanero liquor). Overall, a nice place away from Merida for lunch.
I have mixed feelings. The place is solid, the food is decent and tasty, but the service unpleasantly surprised us. We arrived at 17:35, they invited us to go in, gave us the menu. We were selecting food. Waiter told us that the kitchen is closing at 18:00 (why so early?). Ok, we choose the dishes. The food was delivered very quick! It was good, I think you can get it from other reviews. But then I guess the "main waiter" started to go around us and looked in our mouths while we were eating. Like a shark in the ocean around the boat 🤷. It was sooo uncomfortable. Yes, he didn't say a word, but obviously he was hurrying us. Meanwhile they turned off the lights around us, also in a hurry. Then they forgot to include deserts to the bill and asked to pay it in cash because the card terminal already closed 🤦 (the first part I payed by card like a minute ago). If the restaurant staff is so in a hurry to go home, then why to invite guests 20 minutes before closing 🤷 So I think its a nice place to visit but do it during the daytime. The territory is also impressive.
