CANASTACOS Metepec Reviews
Delicious basket tacos, highly recommended!!!
They sell out very early and don't accept card payments. You should go early and have cash. The chicharrón is delicious.
Great tacos and excellent service. I'm from Mexico City and I'd go back just for those tacos.
Comes rico
En general muy bien, solo les falta una salsa picosa o cebollita con habaneross, algo así.
Un lugar muy limpio, los tacos están ricos y de muy buen tamaño
The tacos are really good, the suadero one is super tasty. They're a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for since they put a lot of filling in them. The only things I would change are accepting card payments since they only accept cash, and adding more restrooms; there's only one for the whole place.
They are basket tacos, with beans, potatoes, and chicharrón. They are super good. The other flavors (ground beef pastor) are just okay. The tortilla is small, but they are well served. Various sauces with different degrees of spiciness. The habanero one is super good and not so spicy. Overall, the seasoning is good.
They're not the same as they were located a block away from where they are now. The flavor and consistency of the taco has changed, and the chicharrón even has a different presentation. There's plenty of room for improvement. The place is friendly, and they have tables inside or on the patio. The location and cleanliness are outstanding.
They're not delicious, as some people say, they're just "okay." There are better options. A taco de canasta is defined by a relatively small, soft, steamed tortilla, full of flavor from the oil. And these tacos aren't like that... the tortillas (I think) are handmade, thick, and large. Three are enough. They don't sell orders (as is customary), they sell them individually. The tacos cost between 11 and 12 Mexican pesos. They have a lot of filling and they're missing a good salsa, 🥺 the perfect accompaniment. They sell unsweetened café de olla (Mexican-style coffee), and they bring you sugar so you can sweeten it to your liking. Oh yes, and they only accept cash. A big thumbs down ❌ If you go, I recommend ordering them one at a time so they don't get cold because they are large. The fillings are beans, potatoes, chicharrón (pork rinds), pastor (marinated pork), and suadero (brisket).
In my opinion, they taste good but are a bit expensive compared to other places. The size of the taco is the same as elsewhere.
They don't have prices posted or menus, so you don't know the price of what you're ordering, and they calculate the bill however they want. There's no way to guarantee they'll charge you the right amount; they don't accept card payments or bank transfers.
It's a little dry and lacks a little flavor.
The place is clean, spacious, and service is quick. The three stars are because, in my opinion, their pet-friendly signage seems scolding. They don't accept credit cards. The tacos are delicious, but in my opinion, the selection is limited; they lack green mole, adobo, and meat with potatoes.
Economic place and tasty food
We used to love going there, but every time we try a new detail, we stop liking it. The waitress got annoyed when I asked her the individual price of what we consumed, since when you ask for the check, they tell you the total without giving you a receipt or order. It's also inconvenient that they don't accept credit cards and get annoyed if you offer to make a transfer. A glass of orange juice costs $45, which seems high to me considering the size.
We always come here and they're very good because of the size, but this time one of the sweatshirts had a fly on it, we'll stop coming for a while.
Normal tacos, little variety of stews, they don't have pickled vegetables, chilies, etc., only 2 salsas, for a basket, it seemed a bit expensive to me, $22.00 each taco, if you order 5 to 6 tacos, you spend around $150.00 per person, for the type of lunch, it's not enough.
The tacos are just okay, nothing special. But they're very expensive for a bean taco with a small tortilla. $22 per taco seems like a lot. Plus, there are signs everywhere, which is annoying.
The tacos are delicious but expensive, though still worth going. The service is excellent. But today I came across this sign. I just want to clarify that on several occasions I've had to put up with horribly behaving children, they let them in, and they don't even ask their parents to control them. My dog behaves better than many children. They have every right not to allow pets. But they shouldn't put up such a terrible sign. I, for one, won't be going back; I prefer my dog.
