Barlafus Mezzomerico Reviews
A little gem in a small town... spectacular agnolotti with three roasts and delicious homemade desserts! We'll be back to try the Paniscia too! Highly recommended, as is making a reservation!
As Poles, we weren't impressed by the lady's knowledge of wine or dishes, but she still tried to tailor everything to our tastes. I had the pleasure of dining at this bar and enjoying a dish that many restaurants would envy: pork in black pepper sauce with grilled peppers. My girlfriend, on the other hand, had a delicious four-cheese pasta (unlike any we'd ever had before). The dishes were characterized by their high freshness and unique flavor. As I said, I wasn't surprised by the lady's knowledge of wine; we simply asked for a sweet, ahahahha. Despite this, the lady suggested exactly what we wanted, saying that this wine is usually served with desserts. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the dishes (they disappeared too quickly 😂❤️), but I can honestly say that this is where you can experience true Italy. P.S. As an appetizer, we were given plenty of fresh bread, olive oil, and pepper. The girl got practically unlimited parmesan cheese for the pasta, which she could use throughout the meal without any restrictions (you can add as much as you want). I think that when you are in the area, it is really worth trying the local cuisine in places like this, because they show us what Italy tastes like (2 dishes, 2 glasses of wine = about €28)
The establishment is located in the town center between the Town Hall and Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi. It offers both an excellent morning coffee and a lunch with a wide selection of delicious first courses and second courses, using only the finest local ingredients. Excellent hospitality and impeccable service at the counter and at the table are guaranteed. A smile always reigns supreme... It's also the number one tobacconist in Mezzomerico. The outdoor benches are perfect for a quick break... Excellent wines by the bottle and by the glass... Afternoon or evening cocktails on weekends. Stars aren't enough, you need 7+++. Top!!
amazing !
I usually choose places to explore by systematically researching and analyzing the reviews of those who have come before me to quantify a multisensory experience that's never just about food. In the case of Barlafus in Mezzomerico, I trusted the incipit of the great Alfonso Rinaldi, a winemaker in Suno and a keen connoisseur of the most uncompromising aspects of rock music, who featured this restaurant and bar in an Instagram post. I therefore decided to book for the kitchen's opening time (as a bar, the place opens much earlier), and as soon as I entered, I understood why Alfonso appreciated it: in addition to numerous bottles of wine from the surrounding area and the rest of Italy (which serve more than just as a wine list), a 1970s jukebox proudly stands in one corner, something that must have fascinated the legendary Erbaluce producer. In addition, the restaurant boasts a well-stocked bar on the short side, where many of the town's young people enjoy aperitifs and beers amid cheerful chatter. The rest of the single space is occupied by traditional trattoria tables covered with charming tartan tablecloths; the total seating capacity is less than 50. The menu is available on a blackboard behind us, and service is provided by two friendly and efficient young men who immediately put us in a good mood. From the blackboard, we choose two plates of tagliatelle with wild boar ragù for the first course, while for the second course, Watson opts for a tagliata, and I choose a cube roll—a cut of beef between the first five dorsal vertebrae, also known as boneless rib eye—which is very tender. For side dishes, both of us have baked potatoes, while for dessert, Watson consoles himself with a soft apple pie, and I with a classic tiramisu. We paired our dinner with a bottle of red wine from the Lunae winery (an interesting IGT from a winery known more for its white wines) and two good glasses of Siduri passito from the Roccolo winery in Mezzomerico. We finished with two coffees. We spent €106 for two. Everything was carefully prepared and the portions were generous; we enjoyed everything, accompanied by '80s music that we enjoyed. Considering the type of place (informal, with bar and restaurant patrons sharing space, and a simple table setting), the bill was perhaps a bit higher than expected, but that doesn't detract from my positive opinion, which allows me to recommend you try it in person.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Tasty dishes and good cocktails.
The bartender spends the whole evening texting on his cell phone, then you call five times and no one answers. You manage to speak to someone after three days, and they almost rudely tell you they're booked out. Come on.
