Blue Collar Miami Reviews
The bar is where to sit. He is awesome! Food was excellent. Drinks delicious. Spicy Oxtail is a must have. I loved the BEC Sammy. Best Dirty Shirley hit the spot after a long day of travel from the Pacific Northwest. We thank you for the great atmosphere and delicious food.
We literally got her 30 minutes before they opened for breakfast first ones no wait so happy we did! place got packed fast wow. Be careful it's in a old run down motel it's easy to miss it. Service was good fast, menu was easy and simple to read not to to many options witch I like personally. My Beautiful wife got Artichoke Eggs Benedict she liked it only complaint she had was the bread was too hard. I had the duck confit Eggs Benedict duck was amazing so tender and my eggs were on point perfect. I also got the oxtail which was phenomenal fall off the bone tender!! 100% recommend trying this place once!
Amazing food. Good service. Fun vibe and atmosphere. This is the new location across the street. Small parking lot that could be an issue if they are swamped. We had a res, and were immediately seated. The server was on Point and made sure everything was perfect. It is a very small, quaint sorta spot. Not exactly romantic, but definitely intimate. The food was all super. Great flavors. Fresh. Tasty. Unique. The drink menu was fun too. A good list, and lots of unique options. I had the Soylent Green which is a play on the Incredible Hulk. Awesome. Great spot! Check em out.
Big portions, always great food. New location is better with limited parking space.
What a hidden gem we came across! Stayed at the hotel next door and wanted an easy option. The burger was the best I think I ever ate out! The desert was amazing, the key lime pie was better than we had in Key Largo. The service was amazing as well. A place that cooks right in front of you, is a place you can trust. Every dish they served looked so good. Sad we're headed home and can't try more. Prices are similar to everywhere around, but worth every penny. Stop looking, just come here!!
My boyfriend and I went on a pretty chill Thursday night. We were confused at first because they just moved locations across the street in June. The new location is so nice with great ambience and we sat inside (bring a sweater). The appetizers were fantastic. We ordered the conch fritter, shrimp and grits and the Cuban egg rolls. The shrimp grits was one of our favorite things we ate tonight. Highly recommend you order the spicy oxtail braise or one of their main staples that change nightly. My boyfriend had the lobster ravioli, which he cleaned the plate! I’ve been coming to Blue Collar since I was a kid when it first opened and to this day it’s one of favorite spots to eat at. Highly recommend you stop here and enjoy an unforgettable dinner. Our thanks to our waiter Freddie who was attentive and kind. We will be back again; guaranteed!
Went in for a quick late lunch/dinner. Sat outside at the bar. Wonderful bartender suggested the Philly Cheesesteak since it’s only available in the afternoon for lunch and what a treat! Great portion cheesy goodness. The hand cut fries were crunchy with the perfect amount of salt. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed a fabulous brunch including the lox & onion scramble w/potatoes and the fried artichoke benedict. The latkes are delicious so something we always share!
Been coming here for about 5 years now & I’ve never been disappointed. Everything is yummy - brisket Benedict, conch fritters, cornbread, griot, espresso martinis, etc. The burger & oxtail is a MUST TRY. I love that you can adjust the spice level in the oxtail. My favorite dish ever. 🤍🤍🤍 also love their new location & they kept the old staff
Another visit dinner: Back to Blue Collar and the food was excellent. The seating area is simple and small but the food makes up for that. We stopped by for dinner and this time we ordered the brown stew chicken, grilled chicken Sammy sandwich, lamb bolognese, chicken parm. All were excellent. The brown stew chicken was amazing, flavorful and spicy. If you don’t like spicy food avoid this one. We also ordered the bread pudding which was delicious. Lunch: The food was fresh and service was good. The owner/manager personally brought our food to us and ensured we were ok. I had the chicken salad and it was fantastic. The burgers were excellent. The portions weren’t huge but the price point was also reasonable. The area inside is tiny so if you’re ok with smaller places this is the place for a nice meal.
Wow - the southern food here is truly out of this world. The flavors of each dish is special and absolutely amazing. My favs were the creole shrimp and the Oxtail. The shrimp had a unique Creole sauce that was sweet, tangy, and so darn tasty! Couples with the cheesy grits, the dish was excellent. The oxtail was cooked to perfection: fall off the bone (usually oxtail is not cooked properly, this was), and with excellent flavor. The bread pudding was okay. Overall, highly recommend this amazing place (I don't think I've had better southern food in Miami).
This is a great little spot with outstanding food and even better service. Went for brunch on a Thursday after hearing great things and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious with huge portions (neither of us could finish our meals) and the staff are all super friendly. Eat here, you will not regret it
I just had what is easily in my top 3 curries I’ve ever had. Maybe it was the mix of the spices with the maple roasted carrots, but either way, it was awesome and definitely not what I expected here in Miami! Make a reservation and go! Super cool little place with the kitchen right in sight of the seating.
Came here because of Diner, Drive-Ins, and Dives and my partner had the ragout pasta which sounded delicious. For veg options, I had the "veggie plate" which lets you pick 4 items from the sides menu. I chose the asparagus with bleu cheese, the sweet corn with herbed butter, the Italian artichokes with lemon aioli, and the tomato angel hair pasta. Everything tasted great and I had plenty of leftovers. Also had a great beer selection.
Came to Blue Collar on a dinner date and the food was very good and flavorful, everything was fresh and well seasoned. The people who work here were all extremely polite and atentive, but not overly present, which is a great convination, me n my girl both felt very well taken care of, but never bothered nor rushed. Will more than likely return here very soon to try more things in the menu, we both were very satisfied and glad we were recomended this place.
Food is delicious, don’t let yourself fool by the area and small place, doesn’t look like any fancy restaurant, but if you are looking to be amazed take the chance and visit, food is amazingly good. We stopped as we were in the area kind of hungry and stopped there. We were not expecting this flavored food. The waitress was a Gem, really nice and friendly
Food was excellent, probably one of the top 5 ever. And I’ve been all over the world. And I’m a foodie/chef. Staff was really nice. Really service oriented. We sat at the counter and I accidentally spilled champagne on the cash register and electronics. They were super cool about it. Then we ordered the Duck Confit Benedict (very good) and the shrimp and grits. Normally I don’t prefer shrimp and grits but this dish was seasoned and “sauced” to perfection with a bit of acid to balance this normally (too) buttery confection. We also ordered one slice of French toast from a thick slice of brioche. (No we won’t be eating anything else today!). All the haters are ridiculous, best brekky I’ve had so far in MIami.
This review is another entry in my tour of the places in Florida Guy Fieri has eaten at with his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I have a Yelp collection if you want to follow along with my adventures. The show first aired in 2006 and it is on its 44th season of Guy's road trips across America where he highlights some of America's most underrated and delicious local eats. Blue Collar has been on DDD numerous times. It appeared on the first season, episode 56, All Stacked Up featuring super stacked sandwiches from Miami to Memphis an episode 77, Wings 'n' Things where Guy tried drumsticks and duck. Later on they were on season 19, episode 8, Cross Country Comfort Food when Guy sampled the spicy oxtail. Blue Collar was also featured on season 2, episode 5 of Guilty Pleasures Holy Moly Burgers! and Check Please. Blue Collar is located in the MiMo neighborhood of Miami, a one mile stretch of mid century modern architecture in Miami that is along Biscayne Boulevard from 54th to 77th streets. Today you will find boutiques, restaurants, and Art Deco motels like The Biscayne which is the home of Blue Collar. Chef and owner Daniel Serfer came to Florida from New York and was inspired to create a casual restaurant serving comfort food with fine dining ingredients that people would want to frequent. Blue Collar opened on January 13, 2011 and has won the Burger Beast Burgie Awards for Best French Fries and twice for Best Restaurant in Miami. My girlfriend and I talked about coming here for so long. Miami Spice finally provided the catalyst to come. Miami Spice is a discount restaurant program Miami restaurants can participate in that offers three-course meals at top tier restaurants for $30/$35 for lunch/brunch and $45/$60 for dinner. Unfortunately we showed up a little early for the 5:30 dinner service but we entertained ourselves in the area and we were one of the first to arrive back when they reopened. I love that they have free parking long the hotel wall for Blue Collar. Free parking in Miami is like finding a unicorn. I didn't know the restaurant was so small, only 8 tables inside, although they have additional seating under a covered patio out front. The walls are decorated with vintage lunch boxes. I feel lucky we were seated inside without reservations and definitely recommend them. It is such a deal to eat here with the Miami Spice discount. For $45 you get any appetizer from the menu, any main course, any dessert, and wine or beer. You can't beat that deal. As soon as we sat down the chef sent us complimentary latkes with applesauce. The crisp, hot potato cakes were heavenly but that applesauce took it to a whole new level. Just based on that first taste we knew we were going to have a fantastic dinner. For my meal I ordered the macaroni and cheese, ribs from the daily special, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The creamy macaroni and cheese was wonderful and the fall off the bones ribs were melt in the mouth delicious. The fudgy, moist cake would satisfy any chocoholic and was the perfect sweet ending. My friend donated her glass of wine to me which was exactly what I needed after a stressful night of being awake when the power cut off at 1AM. By the second glass and some amazing food, the stress finally started to drift away. I stuck to the meat but Blue Collar is actually very vegetarian friendly with their four vegetable meal plates. Some people even think the vegetables are the star of the show. A lot of the Miami Spice restaurant menus restrict you to certain dishes. I really appreciated how Blue Collar allows you to choose anything on the menu. The Miami Spice deal was so much food that I had enough to bring home for an incredible lunch the next day. I have always enjoyed all of the DDD restaurants I have tried but Blue Collar knocked it out of the park. Especially coupled with Miami Spice, this is a deal not to be missed.
Blue collar was excellent. Great restaurant and food was perfect. We arrive for a late lunch... the place was a bit empty with just a few tables. The place is actually very little. Inside is about 6, 7 tables and a few outdoor tables. Open kitchen plan and a specials board on top. They have a good selection of beers and wine. But the best part was the actual menu. Lots of options... from salads, sandwiches and big main courses. Price was very reasonable not expensive at all. I had the oxtail with a side of cauliflower curry mashed potatoes.... the best part were the mashed potatoes and the oxtail had a super good spiciness level and braised to perfection. (Not a menu item) My friend had the grilled trout with beans and bacon also very good. I recommend that you try this place if you can. It is definitely a good restaurant. The place is very inviting and feels welcoming.
I saw Blue Collar featured on Diners Dives and Drive ins a year ago and I stored it in my phone to visit. I finally made it! We ended up going on Friday night for dinner and loved it so much that we came back on Saturday afternoon for breakfast. Night one ordered the famous oxtails which were beyond amazing! We also had smaller which was fresh and delightful and the shrimp/grits. I ordered Malbec with my oxtail and that was nice and crisp too. On both days, we received the best service from our waiters. This is definitely a hidden gym. They are supposed to move to a bigger space and I couldn’t be more proud to say that I frequented the original restaurant. Good job everyone!
Great happy hour in beautiful weather outside. Great service with Wendy. She was nicely accommodating by making my drink to be less sweet.
Very good food! I enjoyed my dinner here. Oxtail and mussels were 💯
The staff was friendly, happy and accommodating. The food was absolutely fantastic. The cornbread and the mushroom apps each had unique flavors that blended well. I had the salmon which was crispy on the skin side and full of flavor. My friend had the chicken which blew me away with the tangyness and just the right amount of heat. Topping it off we all shared a piece of key lime pie. I will be going back very soon. I want to keep trying everything on their menu.
Intimate gourmet diner with reasonable pricing. We had the oxtails with mashed potatoes. Those three oxtails we're perfectly cooked with the right amount of pull but not falling off the bone at a soft touch. There are tons of items on the menu to choose from from sandwiches to brunch. All your typical items are there but elevated with premium ingredients
I went here for lunch. They have a wide ranging menu. I liked the filet mignon until I saw they had grouper. I also like brussel sprouts. They have lentil soup. So I ordered those 3 and pictured them below. They have other foods I'd like to try such as the ox tail. I will check this restaurant out again.
Blue collar is one of the amazing new American food my Dad and I had. They have their own parking lot on the street behind the hotel. We started with their conch, it was really crunchy and the dipping sauce is amazing. My dad had the vegetable bowl and I had the grits. The grits portion is good for one, it was listed under starter. I had it for dinner instead. The grits is a top notch, the bacon and shrimp are juicy and cooked just right. I am shocked to say this as I am not a big fan of vegetables. My dads vegetable bowl is sooo delicious! I recalled myself that I have never loved vegetables, I’m still in the “yuck” phrase. Their artichoke, cauliflower, asparagus, and the sauces/cheese on vegetables, yummy! It’s a must go place.
Yum!! My wife and I traveled to Miami recently and saw Blue Collar on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We decided to visit and were very happy that we did! The food was amazing. I had the ragout sandwich and my wife had the conch fritter sandwich. My sandwich was huge but the taste was what sold me. It was so good that I ate the whole thing, I probably shouldn’t have. The wait staff was great as well and I really appreciated our waiter’s efforts to make our meal perfect. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Miami!!
Went last night as a party of 10. From our first phone call, they were very accommodating with our party. Refreshing, unique menu, not the typical items in steak houses or Italian restaurants. Everyone raved about their meal. Service was excellent and very friendly. Priced very fairly. Will definitely go back Thank you
UPDATE: 01/13/24 We stopped by here on Saturday after a very heartbreaking visit to a veterinarian about one of our beloved pets. After going thru that, we wanted comfort food! We immediately thought of Blue Collar, who specializes in comfort food, IMHO. This restaurant has been around for several years now. Its popularity never wavers. You see people standing outside in line waiting to get in. Once you are inside, it is packed. It is very small inside, maybe 12 tables plus they have about 10 tables for outdoor seating. All tables are comfortably good sized. They are spread apart, so no one is on top of their neighbor table. It does get loud inside because it is filled with a happy type of people who all love to talk at once. Even though we had just been ugly crying at the vet's, we got used to the volume, and it actually made us calm down quickly, and we were very comfortable and could hear each other easily. Amazing how that happened. The food was delicious, of course. I had the Braised Lamb Shank with the brown gravy and the Yellow Yukon mashed potatoes. To die for! The meat fell off the bone and kind of melted in my mouth. The brown gravy was like my mother's gravy as I was growing up. They also give you a generous size of crusty bread, which was so good. My daughter had the Spare Ribs with gravy/sauce poured over it and corn on the cob. She loved it! Tasty and melts in your mouth deliciousness. We saved half of our meals for later at dinnertime because we wanted to try the Stuffed Brioche French Toast with fresh fruit. It was awesome! Thick slices, soft middle with a slight crustiness to the crust. Powdered sugar and maple syrup added to the yumminess. Our server, FOH, was on it at all times. He was friendly, calm, attentive, and professional. No complaints. Dress casual and comfortable. You will come out of the Blue Collar feeling better. Parking is wherever you can find it. They are connected to the little blue hotel and share the parking lot, I believe. Street parking is also available...it's Miami.
Quick Review - featured in Dives, Drives, and Diners, the food was not underrated. It is wonderfully delicious and worth every penny. Cost is from 15-30 per person for food, drink, and if you get an appetizer. Full Review - so much to say. The food is stellar. While there me and a friend had the fried Gouda cheese appetizer and I got the big ragout and they got the dry aged cheeseburger. The fried cheese was perfection with the Gouda smokiness going with the mustard dipping sauce well. The burger got all of the amazing advantage of the dry age in flavor and juiciness. The ragout I had was everything you could wish for. Perfectly cooked pasta paired with a tomato was full of pulled beef and Italian sausage. Nothing we ate here was anything less than amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. A fair warning though is that parking is very limited in the area and the diner is small. Like 10 tables inside and 8 on a patio small. You may have a wait or feel a bit cramped at peak times. It is worth it though for the food. A+
Great service. Staff is friendly and attentive. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, the food is always good. Spicy Ox Tail os a must try! Love going there for Miami Spice. The entire menu is offered for Miami Spice. Appetizer, entree, dessert and a beer/wine or non-alcoholic beverage is included. GREAT DEAL!!
Not a place you would stumble into unless you had already heard that it's amazing. Parking is scarce but we got a great spot. Our reservation was 530 and by 545 they were full. We tried lentil soup, artichokes and cornbread as starters and by the time my meal came I was full. It made delicious leftovers. My favorites were the beans and cheese grits. We will certainly return!
We had a 7:30 reservation, accommodated our early arrival without fuss. Service was attentive, even for a busy Friday night. All the sides we sampled were exceptional in quality. We had lentil soup, salmon, and pasta. Will return when we visit the area again.
Brunch here is next level- everything is delicious. Bomb Bloody Marys and every brunch dish I’ve ever ordered is great. Love the outdoor seating on Biscayne too.
I was very anxious to visit Blue Collars new facility(across the street from the old location). Very nice indoor dining room in muted elegant colors. Outdoor bar with outdoor seating. I had a dinner resv. for 5:30pm on tuesday. I arrived a bit early & enjoyed conch fritters & a glass of half-price house red wine at Happy Hour(4-7 M-F). Blue Collar participates in the MIAMI SPICE august/september restaurant promotion, so ask to see the special MIAMI SPICE offer! You can choose any appetizer, any main course & a dessert for $45! UNBELIEVABLE! I chose the shrimp with grits, the crispy skinned snapper with mashed potatoes, red cabbage included. I added a side of baked beans. My included dessert was a chocolate cake! They also offer a lunch MIAMI SPICE $35 2 course meal from 12:30-3:30! The food was super. Shout out to Wendy & the serving staff for outstanding service.
Please visit Blue Collar. Excellent all across the board. Enjoyed couple of local cold beers on the patio 🍻 Jalapeño cornbread is a must try! Friday special was a BOGO so opted for the Chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta & Spare Ribs with corn. Both were OUTSTANDING 👏🏼 For dessert we were recommended to order heath bar bread pudding and it was DELICIOUS 😋
One of my favorite restaurants in Miami. I've been coming here for years. The Shrimp and Grits and oxtails. And Thank God they brought back the Big Ragout Sandwich. We missed it. Our last server and she bartended on the patio, was kind, personable and just a pleasure to interact with. Blue collar continues to impress and satisfy my high level foodie ways .....
Nice small quaint restaurant. The food is delicious! Excellent price points. I ordered the stuffed french toast which was very tasty and sweet, so fulfilling. This is a nice place to go for good food. There is some outdoor seating that has overhead covering. Parking is free at the hotel as well. Excellent customer service as well!
I wasn't going to share this information because sometimes a gem is best left untouched, but I had to share this amazing spot we found in MiMo. It's called Blue Collar Restaurant . I can't get enough of this place. When I tell you almost everything on the menu was amazing would be an understatement. So normally we do Miami Spice for Kayla's birthday dinner and lots of planning goes into picking the restaurant. This time we just picked a random restaurant that offered a great Miami spice menu (everything on the menu was Miami Spice). When you go with 4 people you're able to try almost everything and trust me it was allllll worth it. My suggestion is please call for a reservation otherwise you will have to wait for a table and why do that when the food is calling your name. So take it from me don't just go during Miami Spice definitely go on a random day. From the customer service to the food trust me you will NOT be disappointed!!!!
Evan the bartender was excellent! Attentive, friendly, and suggested all the best appetizers. Bar is relaxing and an awesome vibe for happy hour. Had a great time!
Update from my previous review from about 3 years ago... Went to this location today with my niece to catch up. First, I was a tad bit sad that they did not have the conch fritters for appetizers, so we ordered the jalapeno corn bread and it was very tasty. I ordered the oxtails and mashed potatoes and it was delicious. 😋 My niece ordered the griot with Brussel sprouts and vegetable fried rice and it was very good. The griot looked like it was going to be dry, but it was cooked perfectly and the picklies was also very good. For dessert I ordered the chocolate cake and it was delicious 😋 my niece ordered the bread pudding and it was ok. Overall I can say I will visit this location again.
Wow wow!! We almost passed up the place thinking it was closed. It was our last night of 8 in Miami. We were flying back to Indy the next day and wanted to have a decent meal (good taste, good value). We had broke the bank on fine dining and mediocre quick eatery’s. We chose Blue Collar because of the reviews. I was a little worried when I only saw one couple dining and 3 employees inside. We actually made a reservation on Open Table. I’m thinking “Why would we need a reservation? We can sit anywhere.” The place was a tiny diner attached to a motel. Gerson our server called me by name, asking about our reservation. That made me feel comfortable and welcomed. Man oh man the food was amazing! My husband had a pasta dish, the Big Ragout, and I had the lamb shank. Whew! Nothing about this little gem of place disappoints. I rarely finish my food, let alone potatoes and ask for dessert. We finished our vacation strong. We must return on our next visit to Miami.
A mark of mastery is the elevation of simple things. I've had cornbread hundreds of not thousands of times, and this might be the best. It managed to be both soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and incredibly flavorful. I had the oxtails for my entree, and my only complaint was the time it took for the dish to be served. The oxtails were fall off the bone tender and came over a bed of mash. I can also quibble over the textures of the mashed and oxtail gravy, but the taste far outweighs my stylistic deference of opinions. You should come here, and I can't wait to return.
Girlfriend and I were in town (first time) for a music festival and were looking for a place to grab brunch. This place is truly a gem! Went with the brisket Benny and girlfriend got the French toast. Both were amazing!! So much flavor. A nice, quaint environment, and incredible food. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting delish food and an amazing atmosphere.
This is the first time dining at their new location across the street. We sat outside since we didn't have a reservation. It was a little warm and muggy, but the service and the food more than made up for it. We started with the cornbread and the swedish metaballs, both delectable. We ordered 2 of the specialsfhe grilled pork chop served with dirty rice and haricot vert, my fiancé got the braised beef cheeks served with mashed potatoes and a sliced of rustic bread. Our server was very nice and attentive. We ended the night with a lovely dark chocolate late with creme anglaise.
Evan was gracious and gave great recommendations! The jalapeno cornbread, Cuban spring rolls and conch fritters were dynamite! They were home so fast, I didn't get any pics, but a MUST try. The spicy ox tail, dry aged burgers, and lamb Bolognese were delicious. Finished off the meal with homemade key lime pie with fresh made whipped cream. *Chef's kiss* The atmosphere was intimate and we made friends with the couple eating next to us from Pennsylvania. Will definitely return!
The new location is terrific. The food here is what Miami needs more of. Don't get caught off guard by the misleading simplicity of their menu because every single item they offer is prepared—perfection With an undeniable depth of flavor. I would say some must try or any of their genuine dishes in Portuguese muffins at the Jalapeno cornbread.
Los hemos seguido desde la vieja locación. Este lugar cambio de locación y ahora esta mucho más bonito, más grande y ahora tienen full bar, los cocteles son riquísimos y el servicio muy bueno. Sin duda volveremos
Enjoyed a family dinner on Christmas eve. We order appetizers and mains The food was very good , the portions were huge. Definitely recommend you share as they were all so big and I hate bringing home leftovers. We got there alittle early so we could have cocktails at the bar,but I guess they were short handed for the holiday and didn't have a designated bartender, just bartender/ server and he was swamped. We ended up having cocktails at the table once we were seated. Cocktails were good.
We came here for Miami Spice and Blue Collar does Miami Spice right - off-season discounts for locals. We loved the Cuban Sandwich Egg Roll and Oxtail. The Heath Bar Bread Pudding fell a little flat but the Key Lime Pie shines with house made whip cream and a buttery graham cracker crust.
One of my favorite go-to spots in Mimo. Seems like this place has stood the test of time. I had the sirloin burger, artichokes, and white beans. All the flavors are on point. The only reason I removed a star is because the white beans weren’t warmed through. The service is great. I’ll definitely come back.
I was in the mood for a decent non-fast-food burger. My nephew knew this place which is hidden in the old lobby of a 1950s motel. They have outdoor seating along scenic Biscayne Blvd. and a small dining room. Menus are on a chalkboard above the cook and a single-sheet of paper. They offer some good craft beers and REALLY good sodas, including Boylan's! The ragout sandwich was better than my burger. Full of flavor and generous with the meat, sauce was delicious and the hoagie roll fit it perfectly. The fries were good. The potatoes were better than usual. My burger was disappointing. The ground beef was good, quality was fine. I ordered it medium-rare. It came somewhat pink inside--juicy but overdone for my taste. It came with two slices of decent American cheese--my LEAST favorite cheese. It was better than Kraft Singles, but it didn't enhance the beef at all. The roll was kind of squashed and crusty, somewhat over-toasted. I ate two bites and it was enough. Took the rest home and gave it to my teenaged grandson who is a virtual Hoover. Paid way too much for what I got.
The food is tasty but lacking presentation and wow factor. Conch fritters were tasty, latkes were ok, pasta was good very heavy but well seasoned, fried rice was good. I can't put my finger on it but theres just something missing maybe its vegetables, not my first choice but not my last. Love the grassroots concept. May need a feminine touch.
The place is very small, is located on a Hotel on Biscayne Blvd. They do have parking around the corner. The service was a bit underwhelming, the waiter was not the nicest, but wasn't the worst either. The plates we tried were good, really liked the gnocchi with the lamb and the key lime pie was very good also. Maybe would visit again in the future but not dying to come back.
First time here and I liked everything from the conch fritters and that heavenly sauce to the pork and beans dish with the absolute BEST grits I've ever tasted. They're very generous with the servings and portions are huge like shareable of you aren't that hungry. Service is fast and attentive.
Miami Spice 2018: great food in a no frills space with good service. The restaurant itself is very small and is right next to the open kitchen. When we first walked through the door we walked into a wave of smoke... so we sat outside. We enjoyed every single one of our dishes with special emphasis on the shrimp risotto, fried gouda (off spice menu), and bread pudding. If you do not like spicy foods, i highly recommend you substitute the cayenne whipped cream for ice cream. While the bread pudding itself was absolutely amazing, I couldnt eat the cream and was left wishing I had something to wash the dense bread pudding down with.
The Cuban egg rolls was delicious and the bourbon cream they have I'm obsessed with that. My margarite the first night wasnt the greatest and the bartender was kinda slow, he got a lot cleaning done i'll admit that. The girl the next night tho was super nice an very attractive got us waters without us asking and was super nice made it a better experience.
Blue Collar really delivers on [mostly] American classics. I highly recommend brunch. Check out Legion Park's farmer's market (half block away on Saturdays) on your way over.
Tried this place for a late lunch and I have to say, it was amazing. Very small inside, but it has a nice outdoor area. I ordered the braised ox tail and it was to die for. It came with delicious mashed potatoes. Not everyone can cook ox tail, so, if you’re a fan this place knows what they are doing. The meat was so tender you didn’t need a knife. I like spicy 🌶 and I ordered it medium at the recommendation of our server. I’m glad I listened to him. My husband ordered the big ragout, and big it was. It was served with hand cut French fries. We will definitely return. If you are in the area and want to try something different visit this place. You can’t go wrong.
Updating my review. This was my third visit. I always come here on a weekday afternoon. There was no wait and many tables available. We sat outside in a very comfortable booth table. Service was a bit slow, they seemed to be understaffed at this time of day. The food has become way too salty for my taste. The meat was also burned in many areas. The portion sizes are large and the cuisine is unique. The vegetarian in my party really loved the Veggie Plate! Clean bathrooms. Free WiFi.
We kind were fooled by the great ratings. We made reservations at 8 pm ... when we arrived at 7:55, we were told that our table is at their desert... we were stuck waiting for about 1 hour to be seated... even at the bar, we needed to wait for someone to take an order and then to actually serve with drinks about 45 minutes... finally we were seated .... server took an order after 20 minutes... 2 other servers followed with the same... ( not organized at all) we asked for bread first... we didn't get it... then after we asked again, Server brought one piece of bread with appetizers and he said that he cannot give more, because he has to bring bread to other clients.. the food was okay, it was brought at 10 pm... after 2 hours of wait... we could not appreciate it... also the bathroom is disgusting 🫣... bad luck or not... we will not be returning and I do not suggest this place to anyone...
Not for fun gatherings. It was 9 of us. We arrived at noon and there was only one other party seated inside. We placed our order. We noticed that all other small parties (2 people) were all served before us. An hour into our order being placed I asked what is the delay. Not even appetizers came out. They said different appetizers take longer than others. We only ordered the Cuban egg rolls and the duck quesadilla from the miami spice menu. When it finally came out it was only one wedge not even half a quesadilla. I couldn't believe the delay was for this one wedge. When our food finally came out an hour and 15 mins later, they forgot one entire order and my colleague had to wait for her food. There was no garlic aioli on my burger. I can’t even tell you if the food was good because I was so hungry by the time it came out that I just scarfed it down. I got a headache from the delayed food coming out and the false advertisement all over Instagram and the website regarding miami spice. The restaurant needs to advertise that miami spice portions are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than regular menu items. I participate in miami spice all two months and I have never been deceived in the manner I was today. Complete disappointment. Look at the price breakdown for miami spice. They charged ten whole dollars for one wedge of a quesadilla. And this is on a small side plate. The wedge was not large at all.
Came for Miami spice. The aged cheeseburger and shrimp and grits were good. I liked the key lime pie. Servers were nice. However, it was an afternoon on a weekday and service was extremely slow and there were only 3 occupied tables.
Diner food dressed up. More breakfast than lunch. Expensive. Not really a value. Dining room very noisy. Seems to have been a problem in the kitchen. Service was held up for the entire dining room.
I went there for lunch on a Saturday. Customer service was good . I had two drinks,2 negroni de la muerte, they were good. I had an appetizer, conch fritters, it was -ok nothing worth to try. Then I had the lamb burger, overcooked, dry. -ok. For the money I spent i could have something better in a different place. Disappointed.
Selected this place like everyone else with the diners, drive-ins and dives and this place really didn't hit the spot for me. I got the shrimp and grits and it was just okay. The cheese overpowered the grits, but the texture was good! The BBQ sauce is what made the dish worth almost finishing. I would have eaten the shrimp with that BBQ sauce over rice! The establishment itself needs an entire makeover. It's very small and better to make a reservation which we didn't know and got placed outside. I'm a heat casualty but the fans were on and I was okay. The bathroom area was a complete turn off and if you're not from the area. You'll park behind the hotel and it's the building after the hotel. Confusing. There was a bowl at my feet I felt was to feed strays and that was a turn off for me as well.
The food overall was hit or miss. The latke was excellent and definitely a highlight, but some dishes were overly salty — the fries in particular were inedible because of how much salt was on them. The grilled cheese bread was so crunchy it was hard to eat, and service was a bit on the slower side. The Miami Spice appetizer portion also felt small. That said, the flavors were unique, and when the dishes hit, they were memorable.
I had high expectations, but it wasn’t as good as I thought. The only thing I would recommend is the Philly steak sandwich. Service was good but food was not :/
Here’s a polished version of your review — honest but still professional: --- ⭐☆☆☆☆ We went as a group of four for breakfast, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The cappuccinos arrived with no foam at all, and the food was nothing special. To make things worse, the person bringing our coffee spilled it twice. The only thing that saved the day was our waitress — she was attentive and noticed that other tables were being served before us, which she kindly addressed. Her effort was the one positive part of an otherwise poor visit.
Edit: I think I might have had covid at this time it throws all of your taste buds off, as subsequent meals also tasted not right.. Sorry for the bad review ! I was in the mood for comfort food but I must have come on an off night for the kitchen. Goat curry had all the right spices but sodium overload. I so wanted to finish it but I just couldn't. I had to stop a quarter of the way through. Shrimp and grits were edible but the lardons were burnt, the grits tasted burnt, the shrimp was good though. No one asked how the bites were, maybe the servers knew the cook was not on the ball.
Not kid friendly. GPS brought us to a parking lot but it was the wrong parking lot and we got TRAPPED in. The manager was slightly helpful, but one of the servers stayed watch for a resident of the apartment building to come or leave and we were able to get out. The only thing kid friendly is on the happy hour menu, which you can only eat from if you're at the bar... So your kids can't eat it. Our server was inattentive, and that's putting it nicely. The Mac and cheese was garbage. And my friend's daughter did not like the cheeseburger. It was obviously overcooked and burnt, super dry. She had two bites and stopped eating it. When we told the server half an hour later (because he never swung by after we got the food), he said that their burger is one of the best burgers in Miami. I really don't care about your opinion, the burger was so obviously overcooked and no one asked us how our food was. It's dark. Terribly dark. The bathrooms were dirty, the toilets were dirty, the floor was atrocious. I'm so disgusted. There was not one redeeming thing about this place other than 1. It's a Sapphire Reserve perk and 2. That server that stayed watch of our car, thank you!
I’ve been to Blue Collar three times now, and unfortunately this experience sealed it for me. The first visit (dine-in) was okay—nothing special, though the wings were enjoyable. The second time I ordered takeout in advance without issue. This time, I called ahead at 7:37 PM to place a takeout order as a courtesy (since they no longer take phone orders) and was told it would be done as a one-time exception. I arrived about 15 minutes later, yet I’m still sitting at the bar waiting at 8:26 PM, which strongly suggests the order wasn’t put in until I arrived—defeating the entire purpose of calling ahead. On top of that, I was charged 8% gratuity and a 2% service fee for takeout. When I asked the manager, I was told the gratuity goes to staff and the service fee helps cover plastic containers. Gratuity should be optional for takeout, and passing packaging costs directly to customers like this feels unreasonable. Overall, the food doesn’t justify the wait, confusion, or added fees. Disappointing experience, and I likely won’t be returning.
I am from out of town and staying at the hotel across the street from the restaurant which was recommended to me by the staff from the hotel. The restaurant has great service and friendly staff. With that been said the food wasn't so good 😕. The lentil soup was good, but the oxtail (even though it looked good) was served completely cold (the meat and all like it came out the fridge) and it was bland ( I asked for spicy) there was no spices at all on it. The staff took it back, and they reheated it and brought it back to me. Since, I had been traveling all day and I was hungry, and I ate what I could but I didn’t care for it. The manager didn't even come to apologize for the cold food 😕, but the staff did. I was compensated by not having to pay for the oxtail, thank goodness. I can't say one way or another if i recommended this restaurant since it was my first time 🤷🏽 and will probably be my last time.
Was really expecting a lot more from this place. Upon arrival, looked at reviews thinking this place would be amazing. Arrived and everything was overpriced which is not a problem because this is a nicer place. Besides this nothing can be swapped out. Still not a problem. The problem arose when it came to service, wait time, and quality of food. Server barely checked on us for our orders or to refill water. It was also a pain to get ketchup or hot sauce. The food was okay not even that good. Not worth what was paid for. Seats are way too close together. Overrated from reviews for what it is.
We used to love Blue Collar, but sadly, it’s gone downhill—badly. We stopped by for brunch, and everything from the food to the service was disappointing. Our food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it wasn’t worth the wait or the price. My plate (two eggs, a few house fries, two strips of bacon, and half of what they call a “Portuguese bun” — basically an English muffin split in half) came out to nearly $50 with my husband’s meal. He ordered a burger that was completely overcooked and dry, served on the same sad English muffin instead of a proper bun. Service was inattentive — we literally had to get up to flag someone down. We even told them we were in a hurry and asked for the bill when the food came, but they took so long to collect the card that we just left cash and walked out. Between the poor quality, lazy presentation, and lackluster service, Blue Collar has lost whatever charm it used to have. The menu feels stripped down, uninspired, and overpriced. Very disappointed — definitely wouldn’t recommend
I've been a loyal customer for years, recommended by friends, but my last visit was shocking and dangerous. My usual server wasn't available, and another server attended to my husband and me. Despite me repeating multiple times my serious allergies, server failed to inform the kitchen. I trusted this restaurant with my health— especially after recent surgeries-and ended up in the ER after eating food that should have been safe. Manager at the moment apologized and covered the bill, and the owner promised compensation-but then ghosted me completely. If you have health issues or allergies, avoid this place at all costs. Employees negligence and the complete failure of management and ownership could have had fatal consequences.
Great location. Could use some updates. The food was horrible. Conch fritters came out burnt, sent them back second order came out raw. The oxtail were salty as hell. The big Raguo or whatever its called was bland. If you're hungry don't go here!
I would not recommned this restaurant or the food. The restaurant was basically empty and the food took forever to come out. We had the most expensive dish, spacy ox tail. And there was so little food . It was only 2 piece of small ox tail and mash potato with a burned toast.
I had a pretty disappointing experience here. I went on a Monday afternoon - maybe other times are better. They were out of many menu items, maybe they hadn't restocked after the weekend? They also served incomplete dishes due to being out of stock, with no notice until it was on the table in front of me and I specifically asked. (there was no sour cream with the latkes) The food we did receive was underwhelming at best: -wings are small and soggy, worse than an average sports bar - latkes are extremely oily, whoever was working the fryer needs to be re-trained - shrimp and grits was decent, grits underseasoned - jalepeno cornbread was oily and likely a couple days old - chicken cordon blu was very oily - chicken parm was super soggy - Brussels sprouts were not seasoned, zero salt - big ragout was actually pretty tasty, but the pasta was over cooked and mushy I am a slightly above average home cook and felt I could make all items I received, but better. They were not busy, but service was super slow.
Went on a Tuesday night and somehow they had already run out of most of the menu. The server came over to take our order, we asked a simple question about a special, and then we were informed they were out of all pastas, the oxtail, every ragu, and steak. What was left? Essentially just chicken and fish. At that point, there was no reason to stay. When the majority of your entrées are unavailable, that’s not a “sold out item” situation—that’s a failure in planning and basic communication. At the very least, guests should be told before they sit down and waste their time. Being out of one or two dishes is understandable. Being out of more entrées than not on a weekday is unacceptable. Completely disorganized, poorly managed, and a huge letdown. We left and won’t be back.
I would not recommend. I would like to note our server was kind and I truly believe she was doing the best she can with the circumstances. My family of 3 came in during a busy time and we ordered immediately. They came back 10 minutes later to say they were out of something so we had to change our order. We got our appetizer soup pretty quickly but our drinks took 45 minutes (2 coffees and one juice). The coffee was like water. They did take care of our round of drinks because of how long it took. Our food still wasn’t there after over an hour. They told us that because I had to change they didn’t bring the other things out yet and would we like them to go ahead and bring them out. I would think this is common sense because we have a young child waiting over an hour for his food. While waiting, the air conditioning started dripping onto our table from above us. We asked to move to another table, which there were no clean tables available. Every single table in the restaurant was left piled with food and drinks as each person left. When the food came, half of it was cold. They didn’t bring any syrup for the pancakes for our child. We had to flag someone down after more time waiting. The side wasn’t what I had ordered but I wouldn’t want to bring it up because they just sat another table of 20 people and I don’t have another hour to spend waiting. I am leaving still hungry and very disappointed. I wish we had gone somewhere else.
The egg rolls were a flavor. Idk what flavor but certainly a flavor. The Brussels sprouts were too salty to eat. They sent out to go order without one of the sauces and no silverware. The only edible thing was the chicken tenders.
