B&M Market Miami Reviews
B&M Market is a real hidden gem. The West Indian and Guyanese food here is some of the most authentic I’ve had. You can tell it’s home-cooked with love—everything from the curry goat to the oxtail is packed with flavor. The rotis are fresh and soft, and they don’t hold back on the portions. They also have a little market inside that sells all kinds of Caribbean products—hot sauces, spices, snacks, and other hard-to-find items you’d see back home. One of my favorite things is the homemade juices, especially the pineapple ginger—it’s super refreshing and has that perfect kick of spice. If you're looking for real Caribbean comfort food and a taste of Guyana in Miami, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
The food is delicious! We ordered the curry chicken and the veggie roti which came with soy chunks and the veggie patty (no soy chunks). All of it was so tasty. This place is off the beaten path and the food counter to order is in the back. Prices are reasonable and they have specials everyday, saturday, curry chicken is $7. Amazing deals. Get the homemade hot sauce and the pineapple ginger homemade juice.
Check out the Authentic trini roti, oxtail and pineapple ginger drinks and other treats!
During a Friday morning visit to Little Haiti, I stumbled upon B&M Market and Roti Shop, a modest eatery that turned out to be a culinary gem. Without prior knowledge of its acclaim, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the late Anthony Bourdain had featured this establishment on his show, “Parts Unknown,” further validating its authenticity and appeal. Established in 1980, B&M Market is a West Indian bodega owned by a Guyanese couple. The market boasts influences from Trinidadian, Jamaican, and Guyanese cuisines, reflecting the rich tapestry of Caribbean flavors. Its unassuming exterior and no-frills interior embody the essence of a hole-in-the-wall joint, where the focus is undeniably on the food. Opting for the lunch special at $6.50, I was served a meal that ranked among the best during my week-long stay in Miami. The chicken stew was a standout, featuring tender pieces of chicken enveloped in a richly spiced gravy that spoke to hours of meticulous preparation. The depth of flavor suggested a harmonious blend of Caribbean spices, offering warmth and complexity in every bite. The vegetable roti was equally impressive. The soft, flaky roti bread encased a medley of seasoned vegetables, each component retaining its distinct texture and flavor. The subtle heat and aromatic spices highlighted the Guyanese influence, making it a memorable vegetarian option. B&M Market’s reputation extends beyond its loyal local clientele. The establishment gained wider recognition after being featured on Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown,” where Bourdain sampled their cow-foot soup, praising its authentic Caribbean flavors. Despite this acclaim, B&M Market remains a humble spot, focusing on delivering hearty, flavorful dishes that honor their cultural roots. Final Thoughts - B&M Market and Roti Shop exemplifies the beauty of discovering authentic, flavorful cuisine in unexpected places. The combination of rich Caribbean flavors, affordable pricing, and a genuine, unpretentious atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of the islands in Miami. 5/5 stars—I look forward to returning and exploring more of their diverse menu
Amazing hidden gem. Never had Jamaican and Trinidadian food like this place and I’ve been to the Caribbean, Toronto, Montreal and New York areas. This place is phenomenal and as good as what you can find in the Caribbean. Super authentic made with love and passion. Honestly, it’s one of the top 5 places I’ve eaten in my life.
This is a hidden gem. If you are in the Little Haiti area, I would 💯 recommend you to stop by. The store is run by a couple. They are welcoming and warm. The food is delicious and affordable, the patty is fresh, and you must get the rum cake. The owners daughter makes it, and trust me, you will get 2 slices. Is mostly take out, however, they do have a small sitting area that you can sit down to enjoy the food. You can park in the parking lot next to the store, or you can find city parallel parking around the block. I will definitely be coming back.
Amazing food, great people, awesome prices. Don’t go there on a date night, at least not for the first date. Go there when you’re hungry for home style food and thirsty for real people
Hidden Gem for Flavorful Caribbean Vegan Eats! I’m so glad I found B&M Market & Restaurant in Miami — this place is an underrated gem for vegetarians and vegans! They offer several delicious plant-based options including a vegan spinach patty, vegetable roti wrap, vegetable curry, and pumpkin. They use soya chunks in some of their dishes which provide a familiar meaty flavor and texture for those looking to eat more plant-based. Be sure to ask them for that substitute. Overall the flavors are bold, comforting, and deeply satisfying — exactly what you’d hope for from Caribbean cuisine. The space is humble with a small seating area in the back, and you can also order takeout or delivery through GrubHub, DoorDash, or Uber Eats. B&M was even featured on an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations — and for good reason. It’s authentic, affordable, and full of heart. Highly recommend for anyone looking for plant-based options rooted in tradition and flavor.
Last day in Florida and finished off the trip with an amazing meal and experience. This joint is in the back of a grocery store in Little Haiti and they are so welcoming and friendly. Make yourself at home and enjoy everything on the menu!!!!
This place is LEGENDARY!!!!!!! It lived up to that status for certain. The food was beyond fantastic and the legendary portions are a real thing. NO JOKE - OMG it was a ton. Anthony Bourdain highly recommended this place, yrs ago. He had a great meal and great time there. The gentleman even called to verify some details with my requests. EXCELLENT service and food. I can’t wait to go and eat there in person too. Everything was delicious but I must point out, specifically, that the rice & peas were the best I’ve had in the U.S. Please do not hesitate to try B&M Market because it’s even better than Anthony Bourdain said, and he praised this place. So much LOVE and RESPECT for this place and the GREAT people that run it!!!!!! I’m still on cloud 9 from this honor. A real culinary honor.
This was the most incredible find in my 15 years living in Miami. The place does not justice to how good the meals are. The lunch special price will leave you shocked… in a positive way!!!
This little hole in the wall restaurant proved to be a lovely surprise! It's been visited by Anthony Bourdain in his Parts Unknown series. The owner and his wife are very friendly and hospitable. The food was fresh and had the warmth and flavor of homemade food. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to taste some authentic Jamaican food.
This place is the real deal! We were driving through the neighbourhood, stopped there for a quick bite and I have to say we loved it. Not only is the food amazing, also the atmosphere is familial, with the owner having his own amazing jerk chicken recipe, the lemonade being prepared by the granddaughter, and his wife cooking everything freshly in the kitchen. Go there with an open mind, and just enjoy the vibe. I recommend you also get some stuff from the market, as it is not only a restaurant but also has great selection of groceries that you won’t get everywhere. Ah and by the way this was Anthony Bourdain‘s favourite place (no wonder). Thank you Sheir & Nafeeza!
This little hole-in-the-wall is a gem. If you are in town visiting, their Jerk Chicken Roti is worth the detour. Trust me, it's as good as the stuff I had in Jamaica and the owners are really friendly.
I wanted roti and curry chicken. Like my dear friends from Guayana used to cook. And then I found this jewel tuck away on 79th street. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. Very busy with take out and locals. Come to find out that they are from Guayana also. I had a great conversation with the husband who tends the market and also helps his wife who’s in the kitchen preparing the great food. Their menu has a picture of Anthony Burdain visit in 2015. This place was featured in his parts unknown series. If you are looking for great food, humble setting and most of all great customer service? This is the place. Highly recommend. Daily specials from 11am to 4pm. I will be back before leaving town.
B & M was so wonderful! Great food all around but definitely the best fried plantains I’ve ever had and amazing goat curry :) So welcoming and lots of fun and delicious products in the market area as well
Hopefully the developers don't steamroll these wonderful people and their great little shop and restaurant out of existence. It's one of the best things in the area - get the roti, and get an extra for the road. Bonus: the veggie plate is delicious, even if you aren't vegetarian.
Google search of lunch spots in the area and found this spot. Decided on the curry chicken which came with rice and peas and cabbage and because I figured why not also took a slice of rum cake to go. Overall, I am happy I landed on this spot, food was so good and felt like a home cooked meal, the curry amazing and the rice and peas was so light and flavorable that I looked up recipes online so I can try and make at home and the rum cake OMG was amazing and not dry at all, I wish the slice was bigger because it was that good. Warning: do not park in empty lot next door without paying, they have spotters sitting in lot waiting to penalize you. Park a block up around the corner or side street near market if available. Again so not park in lot next door but definitely go enough the food and affordable lunch specials.
As soon as I went in and was looking around I was greeted by a nice lady who came from the back. She asked me what she could assist me with. So I ordered the Curry Goat lunch meal to go and I have to say it was Flavorful, Super Soft and Juicy! It also came with salad and rice and beans. She was Fast with my food too! It was a quaint little market. I will DEFINITELY be returning! ✨🤗✨
The food is so flavorful and authentic tasting. The jersey chicken was perfectly cooked. And the owner has juices he makes himself, you must try the pineapple ginger juice! The owner is very friendly too.
Great service and delicious food. The roti will knock your socks off. They have excellent lunch specials daily. It's a very authentic West Indian experience. Non pretentious kind of vibe. They also have a wide variety of Caribbean products and foods for your cooking needs.
The proprietors of this establishment are top notch! Very nice and hard working people who do their absolute best to out out great food and service. The food here is amazing and the owners wife is the cook and let me tell you, SHE CAN COOK! Don’t hesitate to go and try out their food, you will not be disappointed.
Hands down best curry goat and goat soup in town. I must confess I don't go enough. Had I lived closer I'd eat there several times a week. Amazing food. The kitchen is immaculate and the people are so friendly. I love B&M Market.
It may not be your typical fancy restaurant, but reassure that you would walk out feeling like you did something right. They have this little collections of heavenly hot sauce dips that reminds me when I went to visit Jamaica. The foods are fantastic and of course the chef have been cooking it for hours for the foods to come out perfectly. The meat would just fall off the bone . They handmade their hot sauce, but make sure you ask for it because they do not put it out on display. The oxtail is my favorite, but I haven't try the curry oxtail yet. If you guys trying the curry pls let me know. Plus the service are great. The manager would come and asked us, are we doing ok .
This is a spot you must visit! The food is so fresh and cooked daily. The couple is from Guyana, and they are very friendly & welcoming. The kitchen is so clean! There are also authentic island items for sale from the Caribbean. Curry chicken, oxtails, curry goat, roti, etc. Anthony Bourdain visited here & had it on his show. (B&M Market. I-95 North, exit N.W. 79th Street, go East)
I can’t believe I just found out about this place. It has the most amazing Roti I must say it is even better than Joys! The man whi helped me is Guyanese so courtesy. It is more of a grocery and take out vibe. And park up the street from it. Saw a sign $6 lunch special 11-4! What a deal for great food! Destiny Jamaican verified lol
Great food, really tasty. Made with love and experience. The owners are very kind, places like this are rare in Miami nowadays.
Everything you want out of a truly authentic West Indies spot. The oxtail and goat both consistently rich, meaty, and full of flavor paired with the perfect roti to soak it all up. Back of the market vibes and just the type of spot you walk out with a huge smile and feeling on top of the world. Incredible place I am there everytime I’m in Miami.
This place is incredible! Friendly atmosphere and advice on what's good to eat (everything). Felt like home and Mr. and Mrs. Ali are really nice. Get the homemade hot sauce, it's something special.
This was my first time eating here and I got the oxtail plate. Well it was safe to say I returned the same day to collect 2 more plates. This was the best place I've had authentic Caribbean food.
Best West Indian Food I’ve ever eaten. The roti’s are incredible. Jerk Chicken platter or roti are my fave, curry chicken is a close second. Dining in pretty basic few tables in the back of the grocery store. Parking is kinda weird at that intersection but most of the time you can get a spot no further than a block away.
This family owned grocery/ takeaway joint is one of my favorite finds! We were in Miami looking for halal food different from the usual Indian style dishes and came across this place. We had the oxtail curry and jerk chicken - both of which were delicious! The couple that runs the place were super sweet and we wanted so badly to stop by again but didn’t get a chance to.
I love this place. Great Authentic Island food. Ordered lunch as take out. Hubby & Son ordered Curry Goat lunch. I ordered Curry Goat lunch, Shrimp Roti(for dinner later), Beef Pattie & also got my fix of Bun & Cheese, Rum cake baked by daughter of owner & some homemade drink which was good. Everything was Scrumptious. This was my 2nd time here & I will be back!! Nice to know that the late Anthony Bourdain also found this gem & has an article & pictures on the wall. May God Continually Bless this family.
If you're searching for homemade gourmet delicacies, than this is the place. Following Anthony Bourdain's advice we ordered cow foot stew and curry goat. Both were delicious (keep in mind that it is a delicacy and an acquired taste)! For the quality the food is insanely cheap, but also keep in mind that this is a market not a restaurant so forget about the luxury setting. Just enjoy the food, and the hospitality of the lovely couple that runs this amazing place! They really made us feel welcome.
Goat curry was amazing. Moist but lean, soft but firm, bursting with rich curry, and potatoes. I got the roti which was great. Curry chicken was awesome too. The patties were ok but I prefer mine to be more flakey. Definitely worth visiting this spot. A few small tables and a counter for eating but takeaway is always an option.
Some of the best food I’ve ever had. The owners are super friendly and are happy to talk to you about their restaurant. They are selective not only on what food they serve but the TV series that they associate with. Well worth a stop and a bite to eat. RIP Anthony
More than twenty years living in Miami and I just found this wonderful place - thanks Yelp! The food is fresh, authentic and DELICIOUS!! Chat with the owners while you wait or even better have a cold Guinness and chat, it's all good!
I've had the best chicken and goat roti in this place. The curry is great and the food is authentic, large portions and delicious. The place is small and looks terribly shady. I was very skeptical because of how the place looks and where it's at but would go back for take-out.
This is my favorite place in the whole country. Easily top five in all of my world travels. I've been going here for 10 years. I always get the jerk chicken and ackee and saltfish. Their roti is also amazing. And their curry goat. And ox tail. I've never had a bad meal there. The owners are the kindest people in the world. They are like family.
Best roti place in Miami. Every time I'm in Miami it's a must have to visit. Love the owners.
A hidden Gem! We randomly stumbled upon them going to another place and came here instead. The 2 sweet ladies working were amazing and friendly, food was absolutely delicious! My girlfriend and I got the vegetable roti & Jerk Chicken.
Amazing! Cozy little mom and pop place. FANTASTIC FOOD. No wonder Anthony Bourdain sought them out! We got the chicken stew and the goat curry. I'm still dreaming about that curry. Plus, theyve got the kindest hospitality in the state(: definitely coming back!
My husband and I love coming here. Family-owned and operated. I think they are Guyanese. I love being exposed to new cultures. Everything tastes so good! They have a great lunch special. We've had the curry chicken, roti chicken, and beef stew. It's also a grocery store with carribean products and more. If you live in the area, please come here at least once a week! We need to protect and support local businesses in this area.
This place is home Cooking Family, contr table, chill,Heart , food WOW Amazing, patti, coco bread, rotti I've been going here when I was a kid Beautiful Big UP
I've been coming here for years. Reliably delicious food, fair prices, and nice people.
Nice and spicy. Roti was soft and flavorful. Mom and pops kinda spot. House made hot sauce is off the charts!
I love the food from this place. It's made with care of a person dietary restrictions. I don't have any complaints. I hav tried numerous dishes like roti, oxtail, chicken curry, soup, and goat. All amazing 👏
Oxtail and Goat—you must try them! The food is so delicious, and the owners are the sweetest people I've ever met in Miami.
This is one of miamis best kept secrets. If you know you know. Curry goat with the roti on the side. Add in some of their hot sauce. Closest thing to perfection in the entire city. Owners are also some of the nicest people ever.
I did a chatgtp of Guyanese restaurants in Miami and B&M showed up. So i had to try it! Service was fast, food was well presented. I had curry chicken with rice and veggies along with a pineapple soda which was incredibly only $9.25. I finished it all in the parking lot next door. Great little place for a quick Caribbean lunch. I just hope they are not forced out with all of the gentrification happening in Little Haiti
Hands down the best roti in South Florida!!! I decided to stop in there because i passed by while working a property close by, when i went in I noticed this place was on an episode of Anthony Bourdain highlighting their food. The owners are super nice and very accommodating. I was excited to have such a great roti
Literally best experience I’ve had in Miami. Service was amazing, limited seating but we sat no problem, food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For 5 people who are good eaters we ordered: large jerk chicken, large oxtail, large curry goat, side of roti and drinks. It was about $100 and we still had a lot of leftovers. If in the area I would come all the time.
Food was great authentic Trinidadian food. It’s was a hot day, no a/c. The young man behind the counter was personable and welcoming. I had the vegetable roti, my friend had the curry goat with peas & rice. Both meals were delicious. Will definitely return. Street Parking only. Too hungry to take pictures.
Really great service and great conversation with the owner. The oxtail and goat curries were both SUPER tender. The lunch specials are very affordable as well. I missed mom&pop vibe shops like this. I would definitely come again
Ok so not the prettiest place- it’s actually a small Caribbean supermarket with a kitchen and minimal seating in the back, but the food…. The owner Nafeeza is the business! She cooks with love and the food is delicious. My husband couldn’t stop eating. Will definitely come back here again. My kids even enjoyed the food. Very reasonably priced with large portions. Several celebrities have been here. They have been in business for almost 35 years, so they are doing something right!
This place has the most amazing Jamaican food, today I had ackee and saltfish roti, it was delicious and only $11, super filling! Cheir is the husband and runs the market and checkout and his wife cooks all the amazing food! They do have a counter and small tables if you want to dine in… took the curry goat and cabbage to go for dinner!!
A true gem! This place makes amazing food and the owners are a real treasure. A one-of-a-kind off the beaten path kind of a place, this West Indian home-cooking is as authentic and satisfying as they come. Worth supporting with your local dollars, especially during this time. Highly recommend the shrimp roti and the jerk chicken at a minimum. Yum!
I haven't been there in YEARS but Ma and Sheir ALWAYS looked out for me (visiting ) and through God's grace I always ate like a king 👑....curry goat with the seasoning so succulent it had me attached to the family. I haven't been to Miami in years BUT I think about B&M siempre como siempre. Don't be cheating yourself treat yourself ❗❗❗❗❗
Great food and good people. You can't find curry like this anywhere. This food is amazing my god. And they're vegetarian/vegan friendly too. Their tofu taste so good i almost thought I wasn't eating tofu 😫 . If you're in the neighbourhood you have to stop by. No exceptions. Forgot my spice bun this time, but I'll definitely be back!!! Thank you for your kindness and great service! Now i know where to go for all my Caribbean necessities!
B & M market is a great hidden gem in little haiti where you'll enjoy each one of their dishes. The owners are so polite and will help you with your order or inquiries about the food. They also have caribbean drinks and beers inside their store. I would definitely come back to try another of their dishes!!
B&M Market was amazing! Real niddy gritty home cooked Jamaican food! The hospitality was awesome as well from the husband and wife. My fiance and I order a large serving of curry goat and oxtail (we shared). We loved the atmosphere. Next time we visit Miami we will definitely be coming back!
Very unique experience. The Roti was excellent. When you walk inside the store is like it takes you back in time. The owner was very kind and asked me if I had enjoy the food, asked me to come back again and shook my hand.
Great food, and only seven dollars. The owners cook everything themselves. Hot sauce is fire. Highly recommend!
The food here is incredible, it was my first time trying this style of food and it did not disappoint! We got the brown stew, plantains, roti, and for drinks the house pineapple ginger drink and pineapple jarritos. The brown stew was bursting with flavor & the roti was so delicious. We will definitely be back!
All I can say is WOW. AMAZING. I went in for lunch today and ordered a chicken roti with plantains. My father order the CURRY OXTAIL PLATE as well as the STEW CHICKEN LUNCH SPECIAL. I can honestly say this was the best West Indian food I’ve had in a while. The oxtail was literally falling off the bone with the perfect curry flavor. The chicken roti to my surprise came with 2 per order. And the brown stew chicken was just perfect. We also tried the homemade natural juices the owner makes fresh. The natural SORREL juice was my favorite. The service was EXCELLENT. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by staff and given suggestions on what to try. I will definitely be back here. The exterior may look a skeptical but trust me B & M Market is worth your time.
This $9 jerk chicken meal is better than the other +$100 dinner you getting somewhere else in Miami. Don’t miss it!!
Fantastic food! If you have a taste palette then you will LOVE this place. I had the oxtail curry, goat soup and goat roti and it was all great. Nafisa the chef and owner was a pleasure to talk to you and so was her husband. Not only was the place authentic Caribbean food it was delicious and the company made it an extraordinary experience for me.
I’ve been wanting to try this hidden gem for a while after driving by countless times. So I was delighted when I discovered that they are on Uber Eats and quickly became a repeat customer. Their delicious and flavorful Rotis are my favorite, although their full menu makes you feel the comfort of the best homemade cooked meals. 😋
As a Guyanese woman who lives a bit far away from her mom’s and grandma’s home cooking, B & M is my go to place when I’m craving curry and roti and have no time to make it myself. The roti is exceptional, the patties are awesome, and the jerk chicken is delicious.
I’ve been eating here for the last 15 years - the food is authentic, delicious, and the vibe is family. I dream about the veggie roti
La mejor comida de Miami 🔥
Buena comida, el lugar no lujoso pero económico.
Excelente! Deliciosa la comida y excelente atención!!
Jamaica jamaica!!!
I went here specifically to try the Roti although it was not ready when I went at noon for lunch. Overall a big disappointment I didn’t get the chance to try. Instead I had the beef stew with rice and cabbage. The cabbage was cooked perfectly and the rice was ok but nothing special. The portion size was good for the price but it wasn’t something I would rave about. Service was excellent and it appears the owners are running the store and restaurant. I will definitely return to see if I can try the roti and will post an update if I do. Based on not having the roti I would having given a 3 star rating but everyone was so friendly I had to give 4. Oh, and the hot sauce was ok but again nothing exceptional.
My family came to visit Miami from Oklahoma and Texas. We stopped by B &M Market. The Curry chicken was soo delicious. 🥰 Plaintains were a delight. My daughter said it ie not good it is amazing. 😋 This lunch special definitely hit all the spots. Thank You for our first taste of Miami. 👍🏾👍🏾
The food is excellent. I will definitely be back. The place is a hole in the wall kind of locale with home cooking quality. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is solely based cleanliness. Otherwise, fabulous
I really wanted to LOVE this place. I got the oxtails with cabbage. The oxtails were perfect texture tender but still on the bone. I got a large and there were enough oxtails. However the flavor was lacking garlic and thyme. I'll try it again as the value was adequate, perhaps because of the pandemic.
This is a market that also serves some incredible roti. I tried both the regular chicken and jerk chicken. I knew I'd be coming back when I was handed my food and the delicious aroma had me drooling. Definitely can't wait to come and try more.
Comida Jamaicana y caribeña auténtica. Nosotros encargamos Rotis variados. Todos buenos. También nos llevamos una ensalada de col y un arroz con sabor a coco que encontré buenísimo. Los propietarios mas que amables. Tanto la comida como el ambiente muy auténtico.
I was extremely disappointed with the the flavorless and BLAND food I bought from B&H market today! I ordered the oxtails because of the RAVE reviews I saw on them. All of the reviews were so POSTIVE and said the oxtail was full of flavor. I experienced the complete opposite. They were bland and flavorless. The meat was fall off the bone but it was FALVORLESS! I don’t want to disparage anybody’s business, but this food was not it.
I heard about this find on instagram and decided to try it out. It’s a market with a small kitchen in the back no space to sit.. I ordered goat soup & cow foot, cabbage, peas & rice. Unfortunately it was bland and not to my liking. It was lacking flavor but cooked perfect. I’m giving my honest review. The older couple was very nice but Food 1 out of 10 I will give a 4 star. And that’s being generous. If you have a simple tongue pallet then maybe the food will work for you, but I need seasoning & spices. I went home added seasoning and still it’s a No
Don't waste you time!! Inaccurate and unreliable business hours. Go somewhere else We were highly disappointed to find the restaurant closed despite both the website and Google listing it as open. A simple piece of paper on the door stating "closed Monday, December 16" is unacceptable when customers rely on your online presence for accurate information. We drove through heavy traffic from South Beach, wasting time, gas, and money, only to arrive and find the doors shut. Maintaining up-to-date business hours on your Google page and website is the bare minimum for customer service. The lack of effort to communicate such a basic detail reflects poorly on your business. This experience was not just inconvenient but disrespectful to your customers' time and trust. I strongly urge you to prioritize accurate communication moving forward.
