CJ's Crab Shack Miami Reviews
While staying in South Beach, we kept walking by a nearby restaurant and couldn't help but notice how delicious the dishes looked. Curiosity got the best of us, so we decided to give it a try, and wow, it did not disappoint! The seafood was incredibly fresh and seasoned perfectly. We sat outside and ordered the Fish, Shrimp & Crab platter and the Seafood Pasta, and we devoured every bite. The service was excellent, and enjoying our meal while people-watching on Ocean Drive added to the experience. We'll definitely be returning on our next South Beach visit to try more of their menu.
CJ’s Crab Shack was amazing! We ordered the King Crab, Snow Crab, Drunken Shrimp, and the Garlic Parmesan Bread—everything was delicious. The crab was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the Drunken Shrimp had an incredible, rich sauce (even if they were a little tough to peel!). We loved sitting outside—it’s such a great spot to take in all the Miami Beach action while enjoying a great meal. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The Mango Colada was sweet, refreshing, and absolutely excellent. And their 2 for $20 drink specials during happy hour are unbeatable. Plus, the King Crab was very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend CJ’s Crab Shack for delicious seafood, great drinks, and an awesome Miami Beach vibe!
Meals were good and service was outstanding. We sat outside and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Miami Beach. Highly recommend the blackened grouper with shrimp and fettuccine which is large enough to share.
Came for dinner before our cruise next day. We made reservation, funny that the receptionist never checked our reservation and just sat us. We opted to sit inside with A/C as the weather was very humid. Service was great and food was awesome! We had cocktails, snow crab dinners and shared a few appetizers, crab cake was one of the highlight! Overall everything was fresh and great tasting. Too bad we missed the stone crab season by 2 weeks, next time we will definitely come back for some stone crabs.
Great Great meal. I had the grouper, it was as good as any I have had anywhere. I am always looking for a grouper sandwich as good as Ft Myers beach used to have before the hurricane. I highly recommend this Great place.
The crab was great, old bay is necessary 👌🏻 Get the fried shrimp and corn! (Is sweet corn) Garlic shrimp was okay but the fried shrimp was better. The Alfredo is mid, but I came here for crab not pasta. We got the crab dip, it was good but not as much crab as we thought. The fried grouper was great!
Great place for a date night. Good food great atmosphere. Bathroom in shared with a hotel no bad but weird. Worse part was parking take Uber or walk
It was great. I had made reservations but got there 30 minutes early and was seated right away. We started with the calamari. It came out quickly. Hot and fresh. Outside was crispy and the inside was delicious and tender. The batter was a bit spicy, but not too hot. We loved it. We both ordered the fisherman platter with fish, shrimp, scallops and a crab cake. Blackened. R got fries, I got the corn on the cob. We both were tempted to try the side of Alfredo. They also offered veggies. The platters came out right after we had finished the calamari. Hot generous portions. It was all very delicious. The crab cake one of the best we have ever had. Lots of crab meat and not filled with celery! The service was on point. It was busy with folks having a good time but not so loud you can't have a conversation. Highly recommend. We will be back!
This restaurant truly stands out as the best seafood destination on Ocean Drive in South Beach. The dishes are nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the skilled preparation that elevates each bite. From the succulent shrimp to the perfectly cooked fish, every item on the menu is made with care and precision. The service adds to the overall experience, as the staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed and valued. I was particularly impressed when I returned after 14 years to find this hidden gem still thriving, under the same dedicated management of Chris and his wife. Their passion for providing exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere has clearly stood the test of time, making it a must-visit location for seafood lovers.
I’ll start with all places by the beach are expensive. So with that context , this is a great spot. Just have to walk a little further south. But it’s well worth the short stroll.. we tried the sea food platter and everything was great and the service was quick. The garlic shrimps are a delight and highly recommend.
Our service, food, and drinks were amazing! 10/10, can’t wait to return to Miami and dine here again!
O my! The food was out of this world! The shrimp was the best I have ever had period! Crab cake was fresh with zero filler and they can cook a steak to boot! The atmosphere and views were exactly what you would expect from a restaurant like this, right on the strip out door dining at its best! If you are in the area this is worth the stop..... I will be back!!!!
The Oysters Rockefeller and the Fisherman's Platter were super yummy! The platter had a ton of food for one person and would be great to share with your partner. The steamed clams appetizer was a great portion and full of flavor. The snow crab was delicious and perfectly cooked. The Miami Vice was wonderful and they left the mini bottle of rum in the cup so you get the full amount of alcohol. The souvenir cup is worth it in my opinion. The food and drink came out super fast despite them being busy. The service was excellent; everyone we interacted with was super nice. The wait wasn't super long for a table either.
Went for lunch after my race. Loved the food and the atmosphere. Little pricey ( well it’s a seafood restaurant) but every penny worth. The friendliness of the server was awesome. Fried shrimp and fishermen’s platter was amazing and the oysters were very fresh. Enjoyed every bite of all the meals. The drinks were awesome too. Would love to visit again when in Miami.
I absolutely love this place one of the first places I go to eat everytime I visit south beach the grouper fried and grilled is mouthwatering good
Really good quality of snow crab & garlic shrimp! Very delicious. Love the creamy pasta too!! The staff is very friendly who recommended me the meals and also helped to adjust my drink to less alcohol. (They put a huge amount of alcohol in the drink which sounds amazing for others but it’s too strong for me.) This meal is the highlight of my trip to Miami Beach. Highly recommended. :)
The place is directly on Ocean Drive, across Limunis park. Nothing fancy, but here you should be ready to enjoy really good food. It's not really cheap (your mileage may vary, it's like DC prices) but it's worth it. The appetizer sampler is enough to make you full (even for 2). Dish sizes are generous also. Signature cocktails - I am from DC and it was a surprise in presentation. A bottle of liquor floating in the drink. Complaints about slow service - was not a problem around 2 PM but they are really popular and was filling pretty, so you probably better to go reserve and call.
My fiance couldn't wait to have his Seafood dinner while we was in Miami for the weekend. We decided to come to CJ's and we're so glad we did. Our dinner was amazing!!!! I had the Ribeye dinner with Alfredo. Let me just say when our waitress bought us our food. We was shocked on how big our plates were. The steak is HUGE and every bite was heaven. One of the best steaks I've had in a while. The Alfredo was good to needed just a tad bit more flavor. My fiance enjoyed everything on his plate. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to Miami. As for the service our waitress Sanja G was the best. She made sure we were okay the whole time. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. This place is amazing.
This place is amazing! The food is definitely worth the price! Everything was cooked perfectly and it tastes great with or without melted butter (seasoned so well it's honestly good without). The customer service here is fantastic! The drinks were delicious. I loved the overall appearance of the place. The paint, decorations, and overall set up gave me nautical vibes. This is the type of place that had me saying "I have to come back here when I visit Florida again"
Sunkissed Vibes and Seafood Delights at CJ's Crabshack in Miami! Miami magic meets seafood sensation at CJ's Crabshack – and let me tell you, it's an absolute feast for the senses! From the moment I stepped in, the beachy atmosphere and lively tunes set the stage for a seafood fiesta. The aroma of grilled goodness and the sound of cracking crab shells filled the air – pure bliss for any seafood lover! The menu was a seafood lover's dream come true. From succulent crab legs to zesty shrimp boils, each dish was a burst of coastal flavors that transported me to a seaside paradise. But it wasn't just about the food; CJ's Crabshack knows how to throw a party! The staff was as vibrant as the Miami sunset, adding to the energetic ambiance. The laughter of friends mingled with the sound of waves crashing – it was the perfect beach escape right in the heart of Miami. And let's talk about the drinks – tropical concoctions that tasted like vacation in a glass. Sipping on a signature cocktail while enjoying fresh seafood? Yes, please! CJ's Crabshack, you've officially become my go-to spot for beachy vibes and seafood delights. Here's to unforgettable Miami moments and crab-filled dreams!
I had CJ’s cajun combo which allowed me to sample the snow crab legs, baked oysters, shrimp and crab cake. Everything was delicious in the old bay season! But LET ME TELL YOU about the pasta Alfredo side dish - it peaked my interest to be paired with the seafood but it was so mouth watering and was my favorite part of the whole meal.
No idea why this place has 4.2 and the one close are higher. We went to one, menu was stripped down, charged 50 for a single shot of $22 whiskey, didn't have the food we wanted. This place absolutely killed it. Amazing service, huge menu, great food. Wife got shrimp tacos and I got the grouper sandwich. So good.
The food was amazing! If you are looking for great Stone Crab, CJ’s has it and it’s delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is superb and friendly. A big thanks to Carlos, Kate and Sonja for making our visit to the restaurant so special! This restaurant is top on our list for future trips to South Beach.
The king crab was so full of meat and easy to clean the shell. We loved it. I had 2 orders of baked oysters so yummmm. The drinks was strong and the pasta and corn was also amazing. I would definitely come back . Everything was a really good vibe. A dun time. The dj was jamming all the beat songs to give you a mood of happiness, dance and just a amazing vacation experience.
Nice location on the street. If you're not sitting outside though, the inside isn't great, nor is the bathroom. Service is not bad, it's okay. The prices are extremely high though. The food is good, pretty good even, but that's about it. Edit: Came back a second time. The service is excellent, they go above and beyond and try to do what they can to be helpful. The food is still good.
We were visiting from Pittsburgh, looking for some good seafood and we definitely found it here!! Everything was amazing! The portions were great for the price. The service was wonderful, we didn’t have to wait for a thing. And the food was delicious!! Thank you guys for such a wonderful time, can’t wait to come back!
Came here tonight and it was really good, server was really helpful and kind. I got a whopping Salad for only $11 and I’m such a picky ceasar salad girly and it checked all my boxes. They have a full bar technically but this is a heavy daiquiri centric restaurant - normally I don’t like daiquiris but I had the strawberry and it was delicious I also liked that I could pick the alcohol base for it. The Rockefeller oysters were also delicious but as the name implies very rich and definitely meant to be shared and not all consumed by one girl lol
We had NO wait at 7pm on a Thursday! Super surprised! The food was amazing! Probably the best food we ate all trip! Crab dip was rich and creamy, and served with plenty of chips. Shrimp and crab were served with a side which was a huge portion! Crab was perfectly prepared and the garlic shrimp was delicious! Shrimp poboy had so much shrimp you couldnt even eat it like a sandwich without having to eat a few shrimp First! Steak was cooked perfectly! Wish we could visit again before we leave! Friendly staff and the perfect view of ocean street!
Clean shop, both indoor & outdoor seating. Absolutely fantastic food, service, & atmosphere!! Highly recommend: - The crab dip. Sooo tasty! - The crab cakes. I don't normally like crab cakes; these were fantastic!! - Their platters. They are BIG. - The shrimp po boy sandwich. Lots of shrimp (maybe 8-10 or so). My son couldn't eat it as a sandwich haha it was HUGE. He enjoyed the shrimp, though! 🍤 Honestly, this was worth the price. Filling, absolutely perfect flavor, and delicious all around. To top it off, the employees were great, access to the beach was stellar, and no one minded that we were a bit sandy & a little wet. 5 stars all around. We spent $200. Including drinks (mocktails for the kids!), meals for 4 (2 kids, 2 adults), and tip. A little pricey, but their food & service match the price well!
Sat at high top next to street. Excellent service. Only got appetizers and they were amazing. Cold beer and great mixed drinks! A must visit on the strip!
Cj’s will definitely be our go to spot whenever we visit Miami again!! First kudos to REGGIE ( our server) from the time we walked in to even waiting with us outside for our ride share, he went above and beyond!!! My husband loved it. The food… the food… OOOOMMGGGG!!! Over portioned, enough for two meals lol everything was AMAZING!! The fisherman’s platter, the grouper fish ( was new to me but very meaty and tasty)
We came here for lunch. Ordered Fisherman's Platter (blackened preparation) with fries, Crab Cake appetizer & Fried Buffalo Wings . Its was fulfilling for the 4 of us. Paid ard 170💲. The Rum punch in Pineapple Daiquiri cocktail was amazing. This place is right on the road facing the Lummus Park & has indoor outdoor seating thus feeling lively.
Wow this place was AMAZING for sure a place I will be visiting every time I’m in miami! The service was awesome they served my family of 14 we didn’t have a reservation and they made it work right on the spot! The drink I ordered was kind of sweet but I knew what I was getting into. I love that it came with a little Bacardi bottle upside down in it! That’s how you know the drink is gonna be amazing! I had the CJ’s Feast! It was amazing Cajun shrimp, 2 clusters of crab legs, baked oysters, Crab cake, plus a side of your choice! So much food but I think it was for sure worth the $34. I’ve paid $34 for much less food and much worse quality! CJ’s did not let me down at all! My husband had the seafood pasta he freaking ate every bite! I tried the garlic shrimp as well they were amazing! My cousin next to me had the Steak, Lobster, and Shrimp he enjoyed every bite! The icing on the cake was that the owner came out to say hi and asked how everything was going. We took a picture with him and everything! 5 stars without a doubt!
Absolutely incredible restaurant experience! My spouse and I stumbled upon this restaurant while we strolled through Ocean Drive, and, honestly, this location did NOT disappoint when it came to its entrees. First off, the drinks were extremely delightful. Second, the Crab Dip appetizer was highly delectable. Finally, our entrees, which were Steak with Shrimp and Crab Legs, tasted unquestionably delicious. In addition to the meals, the service was outstanding. Highly recommend this location for all those looking to go out on a nice date in Ocean Drive.
So deliciously good! The calamari was great, and we both got the fisherman’s platter, and it was amazing. The grouper, shrimp, scallops and crab cakes were phenomenal. No complaints what so ever. Our waiter, Reggie, was very kind and even joked at how I didn’t pour my corona in the chilled glass. We will definitely recommend to anyone in the area!!! We’re from Michigan, and we definitely stop back once we’re in the state again.
We had the stone crab,it was absolutely delicious, though definitely on the pricey side. The oysters were reasonably priced and a great addition to our meal. Overall, the service was good and made for a pleasant dining experience.
The dinner here was great. Seafood is always a splurge but a necessity for a vacation. The outdoor seats like many places on Ocean drive are out towards the street with many people trying to pass through it can be distracting to you while enjoying a meal. I had a seafood assortment that included crab legs a crab cake and shrimp. It was delicious. They did a great job with everything. My only complaint really is after you're served they literally act like they're done. Trying to pay the bill in Miami is a feat because it's like they don't care after your meal has been delivered. Coming from NY where the service has to earn the gratuity I'm surprised I guess. Also I witnessed a few people myself included that tripped over a fan. It was provided to combat the heat but it was a hazard nonetheless. Otherwise this place was a great idea for a wonderfuleal to enjoy. I recommend stopping in for a bit for sure.
I ordered the lobster because it's my birthday. However, I'm coming to the conclusion that Lobster isn't all that. It's expensive for little payoff. I mean it's good but my sister got the Cajun crab legs combo and the crab legs were far more flavorful, even without the cajun seasoning. I would get that again when I come back here. We also got some frozen Mango Daiquiris, which they give you a tiny bottle of rum with it-- they don't skimp on the alcohol. :) I would definitely come back to this place, next time I'm in Miami. I think the price is good value, seeing as it's a seafood place. The service was friendly and fast. I wanted to sit in the patio because I thought I could see the ocean from here--the street being called "Ocean Ave", after all. But no, there are some bushes that separate the ocean from the hustle and bustle of the street. This is a great place to people watch if you got a patio seat. Ocean Ave is full of flamboyant, and mostly scantily-clad beach goers, as well as tourists in flashy cars. It's also close to the "Miami Beach" letters, if you wanted a photo there.
The inside of this place opens later in the day so my and my family had to sit outside which honestly wasn’t bad because of the breeze, Fans, and Umbrellas. The outside area had a cute vibe and it was nice. Our waiter was super nice and made sure we had everything we wanted and may need. I don’t particularly love the 18% service fee or the one check per table but it is what it is in Miami. All of the seafood we got was yummy but I will say that the crab seemed slightly over cooked. Overall we enjoyed our experience and food.
I tried the the Shrimp Po Boy and found the shrimp dry small and tasteless. My mate got the crab and shrimp salad and it was good. The crab dip was not bad either. Overall not a bad place for food but the inside dining is closed during the day so we were forced to sit outside during 90 degree weather.
The crab was very good! Portions were large. Fried shrimp was delicious too - the perfect amount of breading. Had the crab dip to start and that was yummy as well. Casual place to eat, recommend if you are looking for crab legs!
The food was good, the drinks were just okay. The service was excellent!! There atmosphere is great since it is on South Beach.
Open till 4pm you eat outside. Flies are annoying you will trying to eat. We wanted to eat indoors because it was hot outside. The food was 😋 delicious.
Fried Shrimp were lightly fried and was a very large portion. The crab cake dinner was good but seems a bit overpriced. Service was good.
CJ’s has the most delicious fried shrimp. The shrimp had a light batter and the shrimp was big and meaty. The king crab legs were also a nice treat. The crab legs were huge and could have been a meal by itself but we ordered a bit of everything to try out their menu. CJ’s is right on the strip, which was crowded and busy. We didn’t have reservations, we were walk ins so we lucked out getting a table quickly.
They open Inside at 4pm! Nothing like eating in 90 degree weather. Drinking made it worse. Food was 10/10. Def go when it opens if you want to be comfortable. Google should have them address their hours.
The seafood here is delicious. If it's fried, it better be worth it and be sure it is at CJ's. This Ocean Drive establishment boasts a big menu to appeal to every palate. Order fish or seafood and choose whether it is grilled or fried to suit your taste. Either way, it is perfectly seasoned, moist and leaves you full with more to take with you. I had the fried grouper and a "crab cake", which ironically is misnamed here. What it actually is a stuffed crab, with crab meat ans seasoned breaded crumbs stuffed inside the shell and baked in the oven. Wrong name aside, still one of my favorite items on the menu. I have one every time I go. Note: avoid the pasta, which is terribly average but I don't come to a seafood spot for pasta anyway. I also found the drinks on the average side and a bit costly for the size and taste, which is par for Ocean Drive save a few spots, but if you've come to eat some southern style seafood, you've come to the right place.
The food was very good. There was a long wait to get in, and the ambience is not what my wife and I are used to (outdoor seating interrupted by half-naked women yelling obscenities as they walk down the street, air thick with cigar and pot smoke, but none of that is the restaurant's fault). The food was delicious! We got Cajun Peal and Eat Shrimp, a Blackened Grouper Salad, and a platter with a Blackened Grouper Filet, Garlic Shrimp, Crab Legs, and Alfredo Pasta. The food was amazing and gets 5 stars.
I am not a seafood lover so I went with the steak that you see. Too much fat for a steak like this. I believe it was a NY Strip? Drinks were good, I did get a random one off the menu and couldn't tell you the name so apparently it was strong. I didn't mind it though, this is why we have Uber! My Wife enjoyed her dish (open shell crab, she says) and she is the foodie. Overall, I would recommend it. Also check out the Cinematic Video I took at the end, so dramatic, right!? Bon Appetit!
La comida buena, pedimos el cangrejo con combo y delicioso!!! El servicio bueno
Tldr: Decent food, nice place and staff, a bit pricey. Some things to consider. Only one check per table and a 18% service fee. I had the Fisherman's platter blackened. The fish and shrimp were good, but the scallops were a little rubbery and the crab cake was more ocean tasting than I really expected. Also even though I wasn't that hungry, I did not feel full after finishing. Honestly the sandwiches seem like the best bang for buck here, with the fish or shrimp. The raw oysters were fine, but nothing special. For two fisherman's platters, two grouper sandwiches, one fish shrimp and crab platter, and a dozen raw oysters, it totaled 250 after the service fee. Fine food but nothing mind-blowing Seating inside and outside, with decently clean restrooms. Nice and attentative staff. Overall a decent place, but honestly overpriced in my opinion. After leaving, didn't feel like it was a must visit place or somewhere I had to re-visit.
My seafood pasta was excellent but my daughter's ribeye steak was a tough, piece of meat consisting mostly of fat. The add 18% service fee to EVERY bill, even if only one or two people. This explains the waiter disapearing and rarely returning. There are too many other top notch restaurants nearby.
We had heard great things about CJ’s Crab Shack and were really looking forward to trying the crab. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. The crab was overcooked, making it incredibly difficult to crack and enjoy. The corn on the cob was also undercooked and tough. That said, our server was friendly and checked on us often, which helped the experience not be a complete bust. Just wish the food had matched the service.
The service from the staff and oysters Rockefeller were great. Their snow crab and shrimp platter was not worth the money. The snow crab legs were tiny, overcooked and waterlogged. I asked the waiter to please get me some bigger snow crabs. He had the kitchen remake my snow crabs however they still were small legs but not overcooked. Disappointed I spent $93 total.
Please reconsider eating here. It is clearly a tourist trap, along with all the restaurants on Ocean Drive. Added a service fee without asking of 18% for our table of 2 people, and then asked for a tip on top. They stack your plate with sad, overcooked seafood. Snow crab legs were so overcooked, with little to no meat inside of them. I truly believe this restaurant buys the bottom of the quality I was so shocked and disappointed. Shrimps were OK. Bathrooms were extremely sketchy and questionable. Not worth the 120$ I spent for my partner and I, I felt screwed. My advice: do your research beforehand and find a local restaurant that’s not on Ocean Drive. We picked up chicken tenders and fries after eating here and we’re much more satisfied with that.
While waiting for our food, I watched as the waitress cleared tables. She used the dirty napkins on the table to wipe the table. Then immediately gave the table to customers. 18% service fee is insane. My burger wasn’t done the way I asked for and the bun was soggy. My bf likes his crab legs though
The flavor of the food was really good But the crab legs were very low quality. They're very similar to the crab legs you get in one of those cheap Chinese buffets. For the price, those crab legs were horrible. I don't know if it's just a bad batch. But 95% of the legs were hollow. Very little to no meat inside. I don't know if they overcooked it or what happened. They were just really bad. I pretty much paid a $100 for crab. Shells. Maybe it was just a bad day. I don't know. Everybody said this place was good, so good luck to those in the future.
We are residents of the area all winter and they refused to give us a discount, while several other places give us a 20% discount. Crab salad had very little crab. The waiter seemed to be indifferent, so my review is the same. Overrated. You can find much better in the area.
It’s not worth the money we paid. Firstly the food is overpriced. Secondly it has poor hygiene. I went to the washroom to wash my hands, this was only place smelling not good compare to other restaurants we visited in Miami. Flies were really annoying and the shrimp vein was not cleaned at all. Thirdly the chef put so much salt on the crab we ordered and not fresh as well. My wife had to give up finishing her portion. The location is perfect and our waiter was nice. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food quality and quantity. We tried different restaurants during our two weeks vacation in Miami, all other are good no complaining. I guess many of tourists are one time consumer in Miami ,need to do some homework before choosing a seafood restaurant in order to get what you paid. So it is not recommended, just avoid it. Look at the shrimp in the picture I posted showing the gut not cleaned at all.
2 couples on vacation and stop at CJ's, drinks were over priced, but Miami, so let it go. BUT, when it was time to pay the bill, never asked 1 or 2 bills, but when it showed up to the table, we asked for 2 bills and the answer was NO! Asked to see the manager, and he was the worst person, calling us names, and eventually even getting in my face telling me how bad of a person I was......he made me laugh as I own a resturant, if anyone worker treated any guest as these people did.....FIRED!!! WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!
Good is dry, for being frozen for too long. Waitress sounded that it is my fault. No way to reflect it in the tip since 18% is built in the check. Great location, less crowded.
