I live in Minnesota but travel to Miami a lot to get on different cruises but always have to stop here and get some good food. Prices are reasonable and the food is so good!!! Trust me… if I lived in Miami I’d go there every week!!

A friend told me about this place so I went and OMG. Great food awesome flavors I live in Fort Lauderdale and every time I’m in the area I will go and treat myself. I’ve had their Mofongo Chuletas Masitas de puerco Pasteles en hoja de guineo Arroz con gandules Flan Alcapurrias All of it is excellent and wait they have THE COLDEST MEDALLA BEER AROUND.

I'm here right now with my husband and couldn't wait to give them a recommendation, we are in Miami for an event, live in Tampa, FL, but NY Ricans from the Bronx, let me tell you do yourself a favor and run here if you want a true puerto rican meal, I had the oxtail, rice, red beans and maduros, my husband had mofongo with the shrimps in creole sauce, he also had soda de mondongo, all was absolutely delicious!

El Bajareque is in the heart of little San Juan and everything a boriqua cafe/restó should be! I sat at the counter across from the espresso machine next to stacks of to go cups waiting for their moment and a can of florecitas. The Puerto Rico decor was on point and the whole ambiance really made me feel like I was in the heart of Puerto Rico. I got a cortadito, the bacalaitos (fire) the gandules (perfect flavor) and bistec jibarito. Would love to come back and try more!!

This place is truly a hidden gem! It’s got that cozy, hole-in-the-wall charm but is also super clean. The food is absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and such a great value for the price. I’m a picky eater, and I love everything I’ve tried here. If you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican food that hits the spot every time, this is the place to go!

The food was delicious but service was slow... good fresh food takes time and it was worth the wait. And the kitchen was busy. We had alcapurrias, bacalaito, and mofongo con carne frita. They also serve warm bread with butter and a side of garlic dip. Every was great!

🪬 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷 Like eating in someone’s kitchen, this.relaxing proudly Puerto Rican spot feels like a clubhouse for people who crave a meal cooked with L💙VE! I like to eat vegetarian so I ordered Rice & Beans 🫘 with Avocado 🥑 and an egg 🍳 on top! With a bit of Pique/Hot Sauce, it’s all I need to fill my belly! But what makes this place special is the family that runs it…third generation, full of warmth and holding down the Puerto Rican presence in the Wynwood section of Miami which was historically 100% Puerto Rican in the 1950’s!!! That’s when a Puerto Rican woman bought this spot which was originally a Cuban restaurant. This is a great spot to come with family and friends or eat solo at the counter…you will be made to feel welcomed and with the sounds of Puerto Rican salsa music quietly humming in the background, it’s easy to say that “EL BAJAREQUE” is a wonderful spot to reconnect with the magic of Puerto Rico and it’s phenomenally good natured people! THIS is a must-do while visiting Wynwood but plan to come before sunset, they are not open too late. GO! Enjoy the vibe!!! You’ll soon be seeing them on TV as I filmed a segment here for One Caribbean which is found on TV on the island 🇵🇷 and on YouTube! ENJOY this spot, it’s a hidden gem.

Checked out this place a few times while visiting Miami since it was close to my accommodations. Each time I went I was enjoyed what I had more and more. Between two breakfast meals and a dinner, I had the chicken and waffles (delicious and you can choose a wing or strips), the Baja special (one meat, eggs, and toast, plus toast and coffee), the steak and eggs breakfast, roasted pork sandwich (so juicy!), and a papaya smoothie (refreshing). The staff were friendly and definitely speaking a bit of Spanish would have helped some with placing my orders, but that experience varied depending on the day/person. All in all, I'd definitely recommend for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner.

Literally like my Grandmother's cooking. The flavors are 1000% Puertorican cuisine. Their Mofongo is perfectly moist and NOT slather with sauces. Their alcapurrias are Luquillo style, they even have Kola Champagne. True & authentic Boricua food.

Staying 4 blocks away in an AIRBNB & had to check out at 1030 a.m. and this place opened at 8 a.m. My girl got the Baja Special breakfast & I got the Breaded Chicken Breast. With tax came to about $18+ so for $20 me and my girl had a nice breakfast. Was pretty good and staff was friendly. No complaints.

I gotta tell you that making chicharon de pollo is not very easy. When I tasted the chicken it was delicious. Just the right crunch and the meat was so tasty. The rice and black beans were also tasty as well. I will definitely recommend as many people as possible

I've been seeing this place for a while and I finally got a chance to stop in for dinner. So well worth it!! The food was delicious, the service was too notch and the portions were large. We had the steak with onions and rice. Delicious!! Loved everything. I will definitely make sure that I stop to eat here more often!

My favorite go to!! This place is the definition of that whole in the wall experience! This is the spot you go when you want amazing food for a great price & it’s just not found easily… in other words, this place is a gem! Every dish is made with love & if it isn’t they never hesitate to make it right for you! It tends to be busy often so please be patient because you’ll leave happy! My all time favorite is the bacalaito!! The mofongo, tamale & alcapurria is always a hit! Any of their meats & seafood will be enjoyable because they bring that Caribbean flavor every time!! I’ve been coming here since 2018 and I can’t believe I’ve just now written a review! Although this is the place you want to gate-keep!

Incredible service, I come here often, Ive invited friends from out of town and they love it. portion sizes are great, in terms of price its extremely affordable and portions are not limited. The service is bilingual and the coffee is just right without needing to add sugar. When I come here I order three eggs, rice and plantains never once have I had an issue. If there is ever a delay its because they are super pact be patient and be courteous. If there is ever an issue with an order or have any questions they are always there to assist you.

Best Puerto Rican food in Miami....I have been hitting this spot for many years. It never disappoints, it actually has gotten better!! The food was extra delicious this visit and I noticed that they opened a few tables in the back. The pasteles, alcapurias, bacalaoito and morcilla are as good as my grandmother used to make. Would highly recommend ❤️

The staff was so nice and attentive. Certainly had a great variety to choose from. My food didn't take long to get served and everything was amazing. No lie a surprise because they had a good amount of customer's this day. Thank you El Bajareque for the little corner of home.

As a Puerto Rican I love this place. I use to eat there a lot and though I give it 5 stars I do have some concerns. I use to eat here and I would go in routinely and never got properly greeted like I see other people coming in, I'm not sure why but I see people who work there around the neighborhood and in front of the business when I walk by or go to eat and they never acknowledge me unless I'm buying something so these workers are impersonal. Some advice to the people who work there, smile and be courteous to all and not just those who buy from you. I eat there all the time and never felt welcomed.

This gem is a boisterous meeting place for Boricuas near and far. Super busy but with excellent service! Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

They have some great tasting food. I’ve lived in Miami my whole life and despise Cuban food!!!!! I’m not Puerto Rican but Puerto Rican food is so much better! This has become a comfort spot for my boyfriend and I, the service is excellent as well as the food. The service is very personalized, we’ve become “regulars”. As soon as we walk in, they pretty much know our orders by memory, and start putting it in. I love it, local spot.

🎉🎉We were in the area and need a quick bite to eat! My wife wanted mofongo. After a quick google search we found this awesome little Puerto Rican restaurant! The waitress was nice and The masita de puerco was spectacular! The mofongo was very flavorful aswell. Service was fast for a Togo order. I love the fact we were given a small sopa de pollo as a free addition to the meal. I definitely recommend El Bajareque And we will be back when we are in the area! The best jibarito outside Chicago, maybe best ever. The plantains are cooked so well you’ll question why a sandwich was ever made with bread in the first place. The assortment of sauces (including their homemade hot sauce) come together to round out what is already a perfect meal. Get some rice and peas on the side to really make yourself feel alive. Sweet staff, welcoming atmosphere and fast kitchen make this both a friend of the working man and upper crust.

We had breakfast here while visiting Miami. My fiance is from PR and loved this little restaurant. He had lechon as a lunch special with arroz con gandules.. delicious. I’m very pleased with the authentic flavor that came from each dish. The Puerto Rican flavors were bold and fresh. Almost felt like I was back at my Abuela’s house. There aren’t many places in Miami that I can count on for a meal like that. The ambience was nice, and the service was quick! This restaurant is definitely a go to if you’re looking for a fulfilling meat that gives you that comforting feeling.

I recently stopped by El Bajareque and it felt like discovering a hidden local gem in Wynwood. The restaurant has a simple, cozy atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood café than a trendy Miami spot. The menu focuses on authentic Puerto Rican comfort food, and you can really taste the tradition in the dishes. I especially enjoyed the mofongo and the bacalaitos — both were flavorful, hearty, and tasted very homemade. Many of the recipes come from family traditions passed down through generations, which adds to the authenticity of the experience. What I liked most was the relaxed, local vibe. It’s not fancy at all, but the food feels genuine and comforting, like something you’d get from a family kitchen. Portions are generous and the prices are pretty reasonable for Miami. Overall, El Bajareque is a great spot if you want real Puerto Rican flavors and a casual, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place locals love and visitors are happy to discover

El servicio fue bastante rápido aunque estaba lleno. Las papas fritas son peladas como hechas en casa. Me comí el especial del día que era carne guisada con papas con dos entradas, pedí arroz blanco y tostones (pelados, no de bolsa). Estaba rico. Era mucha comida. Los precios muy buenos. Gran variedad de comida puertorriqueña y latina. RECOMENDADO 👏🏻

Great place for lunch. I came here while I was working in the area. The shrimp I had was delicious, very tasty, rice and plantains were good also. (Rice needed salt for my liking) The ambiance is very laid back and chill, service was good but no wow factor. In & out type of place, where you can enjoy traditional 🇵🇷 food at a decent price. I would recommend.

I found this little hole in the wall restaurant about two years ago when I first moved here from New York City. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately for the last couple of months they have changed the staff and all of the new waitress and management have gotten careless with their customer service. As a New Yorker customer service means a lot to me. As of lately I’ve been noticing that there is really no customer service from the staff, Which is very disappointing because I love the food. A little hello, welcome, or even I am so sorry I’m busy I’ll be right with you, goes a long way.

G

Was pleased with the meal. The pernil was a little dry but aside from that everything else was wonderful.

Food was OK, but it’s not really authentic Puerto Rican food. It doesn’t really have the seasoning.

This is a casual Puerto Rican spot where you have the option of seating at the counter or table. You will be treated like family wherever you choose to sit. We like to start with Alcapurias for appetizers. Our main course are Pigeon Peas And Rice/Arroz Con Gandules with Pork Chunks/ Masitas De Puerco, and Mofongo With Pork Chunks/Masitas De Puerco. Don’t understand why people are so quick to complain about the wait time for food taking too long to be served. 🤔 Keep in mind food is made to order, if you want authentic Puerto Rican food there is a wait time. 😊 Overall good food, healthy portions, good service, and reasonable prices. Make sure to check out the daily specials. 040624

I love this place but I don’t know what happened last night my beans and rice were cold, and the beans did not test fresh. My yuca was hard. It would be nice if they put the yuca in a different container with the mojo. Every time I buy it I find the mojo spilled all over the bag. However despite all this I love this place and will still come back. It must have been a rough night because this place never disappoints.

Unassuming, mom and pop Puerto Rican restaurant. Good service and tasty food. I had an empanada, the Mofongo with fried chicken chunks and an ice cold Medalla (Puerto Rican beer) The chicken was good and crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. Parking is street parking. I went on a Thursday late afternoon and found parking right out front. I was a little disappointed they did not have coquito during this holiday time.

It's very quaint, but there's lots of attention. I really enjoyed my visit here. The management is very attentive as well as the staff. It's a great opportunity to bring the family for good home style Puerto Rican cooking. It's a nice atmosphere and there's table and counter seating for service.

The food here is amazing and pretty decently priced for the area. I ordered at the window and it wasn’t very efficient for multiple people taking orders, but it was worth the wait. Also there is currently a Groupon! I got the roast pork sandwich and it was huge!

Buen servicio. La alcapurria estaba mas o menos. La comida salio bastante rapido. Precios bastante razonables.

The dishes here are a hit or miss. The lechon, for example, was juicy and flavorful, the pastele was delicious as well, and the platano maduros were on point. The arroz con gandules was overcooked, the grilled chicken was very dry, and the boiled yuca was a bit bland. Am not sure that I will be back. The service was good and the employees are friendly.

Buena comida: mofongos y las alcapurias estaban durisimas. Nota: el servicio malo espere una hora por tres mofongos y dos alcapurias, por que era solo una mesera y hacian los pedidos de uber primero y los clientes esperando.

This was my third time trying this place to be sure if the previous times that I didn't like it maybe something had happened with the Puerto Rican seasoning, but not at all to taste Puerto Rican, the pernil seems boiled instead of roasted, the alcapurria, the dough was good but meat, blind nothing to see to return again, but that does not mean that there are people who like their food, for my part the third time was the charm...

Order through the phone mofongo with churrasco and was told 15 to 20 minutes arrived 28 minutes later no one can told me who has my order 5 minutes they figure out who did it and had to wait 12 more minutes... I am puertorican, and every plate with mofongo comes out with green salad. This is $18.73 came like this very poor and cold... Unacceptable.... for the price range....

I order Uber eats and the Tostones wet on oil, the chicken VERY hard and chewy, the rice was good, and the beans very basic like it they were taking out from a can directly to my order... very basic food.

Soy carrribeño and I was excited to eat at this place. I took a meal to take out; Besides the arroz con habichuela that was good, the rest was awful to be honest. Un pedazo de pollo parecia como plastico, el cerdo aguisado no era tan rico and el platano maduro frito was…the picture speaks for itself. The staff/host was not well responsive as well. La comida boricua esta muy buena pero este lugar deberia poner mas detalles con los clientes

I’ve tried this place twice and it always disappoints. None of the food tased authentically Puerto Rican. The menu consists mainly of typical Cuban breakfast items like toasts, coffee and oddly enough waffles. This second time I ordered lechón asado with arroz con gandulles and sweet plantains. The sweet plantains were not edible at all. They had a disgusting taste and I could tell if it was reheated from a day before or something… the arroz con gandules used non traditional rice and lacked depth or flavor. The lechón asado I ate begrudgingly because it looked like gray. I’m disappointed. You have to pay for parking.

If i could give this place a Zero star i would. Didn’t took long to make space for my family but we waited around 15 minutes to get our menu. i have a family of seven so i understand when it comes to the food it might take longer then expected but 15 minutes to just bring the menu is outrageous. When she finally brought the menu she also brought water for almost everyone.6 cups of water for 7 of us. Took 20 more minutes to come back to take our order. Never asked what we wanted to drink. When food finally arrived i had more plate then food. El Churrasco had no flavor, mofongo was dry but the rice and black beans were okay..The plates are too big for the portions they serve. Will not recommend

FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. COLD, UNSEASONED AND NOT COOKED PROPERLY. Asked for my steak medium and it was well done. Appetizers were mediocre.

Totally dissapointe. PUERTO RICAN RESTAURANT? I would not say so. Let’s start with the misleading pictures on the plates. Authentic Puerto Rican people know that “arroz blanco” white rice comes TOGETHER with habichuelas (pink beans actually not red). Puerto Rican white rice comes with beans TOGETHER NOT AS A SIDE. This place is a scam. Coworkers wanted to try Puerto Rico food, bad decision picking this restaurant charging extra for beans or rice. Get it together, as the same as the arroz con gandules (rice with pigeons) on uber app come together the same is the beans. Called the place, ladies on the phone said we’re gonna talk to the manager about the disrespectful situation and never called back. Food arrived without a call and of course without the beans. Bad managing and definitely not authentic Puerto Rican food. No restaurant in the island will ever give you white rice or charge you for the beans when you order. It’s all together not on extra sides that you have to pay. Tostones, amarillos, yuca those are sides that you extra pay. Shame on the ladies on the phone who answered and didn’t reply back. I would have canceled the order. White rice alone? Shame

Horrible service. First off, the waitress didn't speak English, and she couldn't answer any questions about anything on the menu. The more we inquired about the menu, the more of an attitude she displayed. My husband is Puerto Rican, from Puerto Rico. He inquired about a dish on the menu, and she said it was done differently, more of a Cuban way. So we asked her to give us a moment. She walked back to the bar area and my husband heard her complain in Spanish to the other waitress "if they don't like it, they don't have to eat it". That was very rude! She thought my husband could not hear her, but he did and called her out across the restaurant from our table, We immediately stood up, my husband asked if he should pay for the beer, another waitress said no and we left. We will never return. I can not comment on the food, as we never had the chance to order.

I’m reading the reviews on here and people talking about how good the food is. They obviously have not tasted authentic Puerto Rican food. This is definitely not Puerto Rican food. It was lacking all the condiments that are used to truly make a good arros con guandules … they gave me some dry rice with no flavor and the chuletas we’re burnt with no flavor .. my mother had soup which was OK the pana tostones were ok .. but nothing to write home about.. oh and my wife’s chicharon de purco was dry and burnt .. Won’t be going back hope this help someone Before they make a mistake
