My wife and I had a great afternoon here. A must visit place given the Hemingway heritage. We enjoyed seats at the bar and took in the fine music from two bands. The drinks were good. Started with the Havana Club 7 years spices, tried their mojito, and daiquiri’s. The bar staff are friendly. Only tried the bar food and had what was a panini accompanied with nuts.

A true tourist tap but it is a must do. We arrived just at opening and the band was already going full on. The do make a great daiquiri, and like I said it is a must, along with a photo of the bust of Hemingway. This spot is a lot of fun. It does get busy very quickly.

This bar Most brilliantly sparkling ı have ever seen You can enjoy the amazing cocktails, the tables and chairs, the waiters' uniforms, and the dark-haired, curly-haired Cuban girls sitting at the bar while smoking yours habanos . I'm sure this bar has a soul.

Even though I couldn't understand Spanish, I could still enjoy the music. The strong drinks showed that rum is one of the most widely consumed rum-drinking countries.

Best cocktail bar and food also. Live cuban music all day long is the best part of this special place!

A visit to Havana is not complete without a trip to El Floridita, the notorious bar which created the daiquiri! Ernest Hemingway famously was a regular, and he said “My daiquiri in El Floridita”. Naturally it has become quite a tourist destination and was very busy when I visited, though the service was very good. The daiquiri, not surprisingly, was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. There was a band playing and a very talented singer. As well as being very good, the cocktails were very inexpensive; around US$3 for most.

Iconic place been there for more than 8 times . You always have a nice atmosphere no matter the time of the day

Such a beautiful restaurant and drinks were amazing. Great live music and profession and good service. Just don't expect soap in the washrooms.

Unforgettable and priceless memories 😊— to sit in the same place as Ernest Hemingway. I can't find the photo, but it was taken just a few dozen meters from the famous café.

Exactly what you would expect at a very popular tourist attraction. Deff recommend getting a tour guide to go here! Ours was great and got great prices.

Me encanto el lugar es muy acogedor y cómodo en el centro de La Habana vieja tengo muy buenos recuerdos. Small and usually packed place but the atmosphere is always fun and the daiquiris original are the best. Usually opens from 11am ish onwards and can buy sandwiches . Can buy Wi-Fi cards here but ensure they sell for 1 CUC for 1 hour ones.

Bar famous for Hemmingway visits and the home of the Daiquiri. Very cool place to sit and listen to some music and get a drink. There is the bar as well as seating around the bar and a restaurant in the back. Service was a little slow but the drinks were well worth it. The bartenders are masters of their craft. Music started at 3 in the afternoon and created a wonderful experience. Be sure to stop by, very close to the Capitol building and on the front corner of Obispo street.

Fun experience for a tourist spot. Lots of people are there all the time but worth the effort. A great opportunity to meet people from everywhere. When asked a couple from Italy, allowed us to share a table. We then shared it with a couple from the US and then a family from Poland. The staff worked so hard. A well dressed gentleman cleared off the table and checked in on us in the middle of the crowds, live music and groups of tourist coming and going. He was awesome in his suit.

The cocktails are tasty. There's also a nice dining area, but you're not going to come here to eat.

I didn't try the food selections, instead I went for a daiquiri. We heard they made the best ever. We finally learned not to ask for a strawberry daiquiri as we do in the States. Our joke was that maybe it was interpreted to be straw in a daiquiri. Yes, El Floridita Bar has the best!

J

After La Bodegita you must visit El Floridita. Some people will prefer to stay on bar with a Daikiri with music. The restaurant is old but charming like the old city. Food is good.

A must see when in Old Havana! The birthplace of the daiquiri and former haunt of Ernest Hemingway, this bar is always full of people drinking and enjoying live music. Even though it's busy the bartenders are super fast, and before long you can snag a seat. Make sure to tip, and get some of the complementary banana chips!

M

This place is awesome! Great drink menu and best food I've had in Cuba. Ambiance is great, usually there is live music. Has air conditioning! Drink menu is awesome, try the daquiries. They make their ice from bottled water. Can smoke cigars and tobacco inside. Had a hard time finding somewhere to eat good food in havana and la Floridita saved the day!! Ate the chicken sanwitch breakfast lunch and supper!

Had the pleasure of visiting in November 2019 on a night that happened to coincide with Havana's 500th anniversary. Daiquiris, staff, band, and wildly raucous international crowd made for a highly entertaining night!

One of the typical tourists spots in Old Havana. The Daiquiris are incredibly smooth. For $6 a drink, you’ll end up drinking 3-4 of them and not realize it.

Another hotspot of Havana. The far end of Hemingway's route. Fantastic Daiquiri. we tried many in Cuba but this one was really one of the best. There is a reason Hemingway loves this place. Try to sit near the bar to watch how they prepare the cocktails. enjoy the music played by different groups coming in and out.

DAIQUIRIS were quiet expensive thinking of living expenses in Cuba. However this was the best daiquiris that I had in my life! Totallt worth visiting!

Must visit place for anyone travelling to Havana. Order Hemingway's favourite daiquiri and enjoy the live music at night. When it gets busy the drink orders can be a bit slow.

"Must visit" place. 200-years old true bar. Do not pay in USD or EU. You won't enjoy the 50 cents per dollar rate =) change your money to pesso before you go. Service is fast, live music, we went there twice.

M
Mirosław Siemieniuk

The legendary place where Hemingway used to stop by and drink Mojito. Now you can taste it for 6 CUCs. Dont do it, it cost twice cheaper - 3 CUCs - in Hotel Ambos Mundos (= Both Worlds) where he lived for 3 years.

P
Peter Pcanada

Supposed to be Hemingway’s hang out place. Live music, drinks are awesome. Downside: there was no beer, drinks were expensive for Cuba, cocktails around $11 USD, only Havana Club rum.

X
Xenia Barrabeitg Liens

This is one of the most famous bars in Cuba, the birthplace of Daiquiri cocktail, where American writer Ernest Hemingway used to visit to drink a Daiquiri. It has live traditional Cuban music, and I highly recommend it to visit if you are in Havana!

C

This classy bar is one for the books. I spent an afternoon sitting at the bar admiring the bartenders mix (free pour) daiquiris and other fun drinks for the many MANY tourists popping in for a picture and drink with Ernest Hemingway. Bar tenders are very professional and know how to Mix a drink for show! The local bands that play are an awesome added touch. Very fun place to meet people or just to pop in for a drink while touring Havana!

S

Love the drinks, great lively atmosphere, super crowded, you’ll have to stand most likely, but who needs to sit when in Cuba...dance! Great live music, so folks are moving to the beat. I like any place Hemingway hung out, he had great taste in drinks and locations.

One of the most famous bars in Cuba mainly known for its wonderful daiquiris with many flavors! Every night there is an amusing live band playing local music. They serve delicious local food too (great lobster). The staff is friendly and polite. Very good prices and great location. We absolutely enjoyed our nights there!

Visiting Havana, Cuba? DO NOT MISS Floridita Bar in Obispo area, Havana, Cuba! Famously known as la cuna del daiquiri or the cradle of daiquiri, - one of the famous cocktails originated from Cuba, this place is such a hip spot to get your favorite drinks, lavish seafood plates and memorable 40s ambience you will love. I came here way before the pandemic and even pas lunch time, the place was still bustling with tourists try to get 'the Hemingway's experience' . This famous American author was a regular here and even had his life-size statue on his favorite spot in the restaurant. I really love the ambience of the place, vividly showing the golden era of 40s and 50s, with draperies, cushions and murals You will love taking pictures here. The food is nice and it is a bit expensive, particularly for the seafood menu. Daiquiri is of course very popular but you also get the 'virgin' one without alcohol or other beverages. the bartenders and the waitresses are super friendly. I tried the Gran Plato Hemingway, soup and salad. It was delicious indeed! When I was here before the pandemic, it was very packed with tourists, be it in the bar area or the dining room. I man not pretty sure whether it is disability friendly but I guess the staff will be very helpful . The restaurant is located in Obispo area and you will find many cintage cars in different make and colors. Highly recommended if you got a chance to visit.

We had to pinch ourselves to be having a drink in the iconic bar. And to stand by the life-size bronze statue of Hemingway at the end of the bar, where he used to sit. El Floridita or more known more popularly as Hemingway Bar lives up to its legendary reputation. Actually it was originally opened in 1817 as “La Piña de Plata” (The Silver Pineapple) but has been known as El Floridita since 1914. It is famous for Hemingway and the frozen Daiquiri. Hemingway frequented El Floridita where his favourite drink was the Daiquiri. We just enjoyed several visits and the atmosphere and history.

B
Bilyana Kovacheva

I was skeptical about coming here because it is promoted as Hemingway's favorite bar. I really thought it is a tourist trap. I was wrong! The place is not called the cradle of Daikiri for nothing. The Daikiris are delicious, the staff are nice, the live music was awesome! Also, the prices were unexpectedly low! We highly recommend it. P.S. There is a statue of Hemingway at the bar you can take photos with!

I am doing 5 star not to be confused with full access to resources. Despite the dinner menu being extensive the selections were very limited due to control and access to restaurant supplies. The food we had to order based on availability was well prepared and delicious. It is very difficult for the local establishments to be empowered to accommodate the public. Yes I will revisit again.

What a place ! In my very humble opinion one of the very best bars in the world. Great drinks ( always daiquiri) , great service and fantastic music We spent our 3 nights in Havana here . Drinks are 5 USD , you can’t find cheaper not better . Better during day time at night is a bit sad with the lighting

B
Brittany “Brit” Sanders

I heard this bar made some of the best drinks in Havana so, I had to give it a try. The drinks were amazing and it was easy to order since my Spanish is terrible and the older bartender spoke great English (I think he said he spent some time in the US). There was a live and that sounded great.

J

A historic bar in a fantastic location. Supposedly the home of the daiquiri - they do make them really well. I've been here multiple times and the live music is always brilliant. Staff are super friendly and even gave us a drink on the house.

C

Touristy but my friends and I had a great time trying every flavor on the menu and posing with the Ernest Hemingway sculpture!

N
Noemie Chagnon

6 CUC daiquiris. Basically the only drink to have there, and made fresh constantly. You have the blenders going non stop, waiters rushing back trays of empty martini glasses, live Cuban music and an international crowd. Really fun vibe for the bar. Haven't tried the food- the restaurant was empty both times we went but the bar is always full. The prices are very high for food from 10 to 30 CUC per plate which is extravagant for Cuba but probably your best bet for a steak of that's how you roll.

T

What wonderful late night experience with Latin Jazz and Salsa played by a band. I will return every time I am in Havana.

R
Rachel Perez

If you're at El Floridita you have to have a Hemingway!! It's a slushy type drink with lots of rum that you can't taste so be careful because they can sneak up on you quick!! I also suggest trying the food here as well, their Cuban sandwich is amazing and full of different but balanced flavors, it was so good. Also be sure to have some change on you if you have to use the restroom as it's traditional in Spanish countries to pay an attendant 1 peso for some toilet paper.

P
Pokegemz

Daiquiris are delicious. He got the traditional lime and a strawberry Daiquiri. The Cuban sandwich was also very good

j
jeffrey Robin

I wanted to hate it, I live in a tourist town, but it was fantastic. The drinks, the music, the bar tenders and the other patrons were so much fun. We do speak Spanish, drinks were cheap compared to where we live and we can set our capitalism at the door which you have to do in Cuba, I would go back just to have a daiquiri.

W
William Mathews

Tourist Trap for sure, but a must do. Great variety of different Daquiri’s and an amazing band performing whilst we were there. I recommend going in for 1 drink and taking in the atmosphere.

During a recent four day visit to Havana we visited La Floridita twice on a Saturday. We first went for a fabulous lunch lunch. We then returned in the evening for the famous cocktails. On both visits the staff were superb and made us feel especially welcome. The food was well presented and perfectly cooked. The live music in the venue was pure Cuban. We had an amazing time at La Floridita and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

S
Samar Shivdasani

Nice place in the heart of old Havana. Serve excellent daiquiris, which is what they are known for, but is definitely a popular tourist attraction. The bar is associated with Ernest Hemmingway as his favorite watering hole and there's even a statue of him at the bar!

D
Damián García García

As a tourist you must visit this iconic bar where Hemingway used to hangout. There's even a statue of him taking a Daiquiri at the bar. Cocktails were quite good, way better than the average but also by far among the most expensive ones you could find in Cuba. Depending on the time you can also see live shows and music.

F
F R

Lots of tourists! Very crowded but it's easy to get a seat since most people come for a drink or two and a couple of selfies with Ernest Hemingway's statue. Daiquiris aren't really my thing but it was a cool experience being at a bar that has been around since the early 1800s!

R
Rasto “Dexterxxl”

Bar, where daiquiri was invented. Full of tourists, quite expensive, 6 CUC for daiquiri, but we liked it. Bronze head of Hemingway is the place for a photo 🙂.

T

Great stop for the history and live music. The daiquiri is a thing to try. Great tourist spot

R

Typical tourist stop. It is recommended to go there and try their daiquiris just to experience it. Live music is great.

J
Joseph Buckles

Yes Hemingway's old hangout and he's off in the corner standing in bronze. It can be quite crowded but it will quickly die down. Do sit and enjoy a daiquiri. But be warned they no longer make them with fresh or frozen fruit instead opting for syrup. The back area is for eating only so if you want a drink you gotta fight for a seat at the bar or find a table. The drinks are strong! The music was great too. It is a must stop on any Cuba tour. Oh and the bathrooms were acceptable ..somewhat clean.

B
Bella 4Life

Lively bar atmosphere with band in the front, quite formal sit down area in the back. Famous for its margaritas. Excellent service, but can get crowded. Popular with tourists

N

The daiquiri was pretty good. It was very loud and busy there, but thankfully we got a table right away. Service was really slow but whatever.

L
Leticia Marcondes

If you want to drink the best daiquiri in cuba, go to floridita! Lively bar with live music and 3$ drinks. On other hand I wouldn’t recommend dining here, we order the lobster and the seafood rice and just couldn’t eat the hole plate, tasted really bad. Go to this bar but not for eat, just to drink and have fun.

D
Deepak Gupta

Mrs G and I wandered through the streets to get to the iconic bar, and it was packed! Had the daiquiri, which was frozen but still tasty. We prefer the drink sans ice but after time in the hot Cuban sun it was great. The live music was fun to listen to and the international vibe was enjoyable. I would have given it a 3 star rating because of crowds, but the drink was great.

F
Fernanda Lopes

Good for having a drink and enjoying some amazing music. I dined and food was not bad but it was overpriced and the restaurant a bit outdated

K
Kim Vranceanu

Fune experience in Havana! Great daiquiris and nice statue and photos of Ernest Hemingway.

V
Valéria Aquino

Since it is a bar, its focus is serving drinks (a nice mojito) and small snacks. So there weren't many food options, we ended up having a sandwich. It is old, like everything else in Cuba, yet, it has a nice vibe and cool music. Considering the standards in Havana, I would say it is an ok bar, and they accepted credit card, which is pretty good, because not many places do.

G
George Tzivolias

"Must visit" historical bar known as Ernest Hemingway's favourite. His statue is placed inside standing on the bar. Original daiquiri and live Cuban music makes the place a "must visit".

J
Justine Vild

Cool just to stop in for a quick drink and say you've been. Probably the most touristy spot we visited. Extremely crowded.

N
Nurdan Kilincoglu

This bar is the birthplace of the famous Daiquiri cocktail — and it’s said that Hemingway himself was a regular here. It’s a great spot to enjoy live music and a well-made cocktail in a lively atmosphere. That said, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for the food — stick to drinks and soak in the vibe instead.

J

Ernest Hemingway favourite pub Daiquiri cocktail drink is nice but pricey at usd 5 Busy pub with great ambience and Cuban music..like going back to the sixties pub

K
KAIJEN TIEN

Also for the bar part. It is a must-go when one all the way come to Havana. It is famous but I think the atmosphere is not as good as La Bodeguita, the other bar also Hemingway’s favorites. Their most famous cocktail daiquiri have alcohol-free version so even the one not drinking could visit.

J
James Concepcion

One of the nostalgic bars frequented by Ernest Hemingway. They claim to be the inventor of the Daiquiri loved by Hemingway. It has a nice ambiance with friendly waiters and a good happy hour with a live band. It is very popular with the tourists so chairs are hard to come by and if you get one do not just stand or someone is likely to grab it. Take a picture with the bust of Hemingway and enjoy this “Tourist Trap”. As can be seen in my pictures, the bar looks so much better at night.

K
Kathy Watkins

The daiquiris lived up to all that was expected. We also ordered some tapas. I can't say much about the food As we had so much better food in Havana. The restaurant is in a different area than the bar, but far less crowded. The restrooms were clean and attended. The wait staff was only average. The decor was very nice ..for the nostalgia of the place it is worth a visit. We went on a Friday night around 8 and had no trouble getting in. Later on we rode by and saw a huge line around the block. There are far too many places to have a great drink, listen to music and have less crowds.

L
London Scott

This place is a MUST when in Havana!! We stopped in here after lunch simply for cocktails (Daiquiris) while we awaited our next tour. Everyone had at least 3 Daiquiris, they're very tasty but a bit watered down (may take several to get you there if you're an actual drinker). This spot attracts many tourists but who wants to miss the Hemingway bar experience, he even has a statue inside. There was a local band who came in & played during our visit. The got the crowd pretty hype. I'd visit this spot again if ever in Havana.

D
Dee CrepitUS

The bar is always packed of tourist because of it's history. The daiquiri is a bit pricey but that's what tourists are after because it's the home of the daiquiri. I have to say though that they are great daiquiris. Be prepared to stand as the bar gets really busy. If you're patient enough to wait, you can enjoy a seat since the crowd appears to come in waves. Hemmingway's old hangout, this place offers a lively vibe and music that will move your hips.

L
Larry Ho

This review is for the restaurant " La Pina de Plata ", which is next to the bar and I believe both under the same ownership. Reasonably priced dinners and is bright and airy. Service usually speedy. Set dinners include a drink ( Domestic beer, juice or water ) , main course and dessert can be had for 5.50 CUC ( chicken with mushrooms), 6.50 CUC ( Cuban style beef, tasted like roast beef plate from Denny's ). Both dishes were yummy ! Ask for Madeleine, the friendly lady who speaks English. Air conditioning was strong but no live music.

R
Rainer Wolf

Sitting on the fence of being a cocktail bar with pedigree, or being a tourist trap. While prices are certainly affordable to the average tourist, neither drinks nor service are truly exceptional. But you can take your picture with a bronze Papa Hemingway at the end of the bar...

Susi Garcia
Susi Garcia

R
R H

Hemingways Bar. Home of the Daiquiri. History brings the hype. But that's where the charm ends. The love music is pretty good though. The band is talented. Th food and cocktails are alright. They are pricey because they know every tourist visiting Cuba will come here.

A
Aleksandra Nesic

A historic cafe, where Hemingway spent his time. Inside there is also a sculpture of him at the bar. The first Daiquiri was also made here. And at the same time, it's the best I've tried, I recommend Floridita Daiquiri. They are expensive because this is a sure tourist place, where every tourist will come to visit.

A
Alex Xr

Excellent bar good Daiquiri overrated. Not many better bars though

M
Monica Rivera

Crowded as sh... It is a must in La Habana, however, you can barely walk, seating is most of the times not an option and compared to other bars in the area, drinks are very expensive (6 cuc for a daiquiri). So, maybe just for a super quick visit to have a drink and see the venue. It has a restaurant as well.

R
Rafał Wolny

Overrated! If you want to snob a little and take a look at Ernest Hemingway - recommend. Otherwise pointless - you can drink as good (or even better) daiquiri in many other bars in Havana, and even 3 times cheaper!

G
Greg Devisé

Probably overrated, the Daiquiris look super industrial but we can't say they ain't good. You will find better ones for a cheaper price in Old Havana authentic places. Nice to see Hemingway's representation, the place itself is beautiful. But loudy.

I
Ian Killoch

Always wanted to try a Daiquiri here, supposedly they invented it and old Mr. Hemingway swore by them. His bronze statue is on a stool tucked up in the corner for u to get a pic. Place is always packed. Good Samba music, this place is for tourists only. Service is miserable. Its the last thing on there mind so don’t be in a hurry. €6 for a cocktail is not bad value but the Floridita , I got was not so good, I have had much better, cheaper nearby. Look I did it, would I go back? No.

X
Xiao Tan

Came at ~10pm and there were only 6 people total inside. Decorations and photos very atmospheric but lack of people made the place feel oddly dead. The famed daiquiri was terrible and made in two seconds with pre-set mix that had a weird and overpowering artificial sweetener taste. Had to have the drink here given the history but a very disappointing overall experience, especially in comparison with the atmosphere (and drink) of a mojito at La Bodeguita del Medio, which was packed, had a live band (at 1pm, so maybe that was the difference?), and had freshly made drinks prepared in front of you.

S
Samu

Definitely a beautiful bar, especially in relation to Ernest Hemingway. However, 7.50 USD for a Daiquiri is a very high price, especially for this country. Additionally, when we entered, we asked if card payment is possible, which the waiter assured, especially since we were low on cash for Cuba. When we then tried to pay, the card payment did not work and, as the cashier told us, did not work for some time before.

B
Bijan Abadi

Our tour guide took us yo this restaurant on the eve of Jan 2. Very nice environment and music. But other than those two items, just disappointment. The drinks was delivered fairly on time but it took more than an hour to have the food on the table. Most of the the plates for our group of 12 were cold already. The full fried fish fish, my order, was two dry that I could get barely any meet out of it, maybe it was deep fried several times. The sound level was so high that we had to shout at each other and still had hard time to hear each other. Most of us, even our tour guide were not happy with the selection.

Tasted Daiquiri and took a picture with Ernest Hemingway’s statue at the bar. And that was it. Drinks were OK, but there was little value for money. Live music helped a bit.

It’s a tourism scam, they charge $4 for a bottle of water and $7.5 for a drink. Meat and fruits are not freshly made either, it has a vague rotten taste to it. I would recommend just take a picture with Hemingway statue, tip the live band and leave.

Despite its historical significance, this place is not enjoyable. The staff is very rude, and although prices are listed in dollars, asking to pay in pesos results in a SCAM with an unfair exchange rate: it should be 120 as it's a government-run bar. We visited on a weeknight, and the entertainment was minimal: a group performed just three songs, asked for tips, and left. I recommend skipping this spot during your trip to Havana!

It is said that daikiri was created in this very bar, but unfortunately their iconic drink was the worst I ever tried. Too watered down and not enough ice. The taste was mediocre. Not to mention the price of 7,50$ . If you want to pay in pesos, the exchange rate is 300 . I am not sure this is legal. Staff was also not very friendly. It is packed with tourists only-understandable, but it lacks any charm and autenticity. Don't expect good drinks or good service.

This place used to be a historic landmark where Hemingway used to come and have his drink. Now it has developed into a tourist trap with poor service and a questionable atmosphere. They bring new tour groups every hour who hit the place like a tsunami: mostly yelling and misbehaving Russians who can ruin enjoying your drink pretty fast. There are definitely better places around the town to enjoy your drink.

When I paid for a cocktail at the restaurant, they said that my card didn't go through, so I had to pay in cash, and then my bank statement showed that I was charged the cost of the cocktail. So the staff of Floridita is cheating its customers!

The bald cashier with glasses charged me double the price just because I used a $100 bill (I had just arrived in the city). He even complained about it, saying that I only ordered because I wanted change, which is ridiculous because I literally didn't have any money other than that bill and I really wanted to see the bar and order a daiquiri, as it's very famous. Before ordering, I asked if there was no problem using that bill and he said it was okay.

Sorry but most over priced drinks in Cuba? And full of bus tours type tourists. No cubans. Suppose you gotta go. We where in and out in 15 minutes. Hemingway would never drink there today.
