We walked there in the evening and had a reservation which we booked about an hour before we arrived. The food and service were excellent, our waiter was very helpful and our drinks arrived quickly. It had a real feel of a french establishment and we started with a couple glasses of Sancerre. The flavor of the french onion soup was extremely well balanced and I highly recommend their pepper steak (au poivre) which is done with filet mignon. The cook on the steak was exactly what I asked for and you can tell the chef is precise and confident with all of the dishes. The atmosphere was pleasantly subdued, dim and had its own flair, you can tell the reason this place has been around so long is because they have a reputation for success. I think either the manager or the owner stopped by our table to check in on us as well, which we appreciated. We ordered their prawn special and my wife was thrilled with how it came out. I want to go back for some escargot and try their other dishes sometime. Truly a terrific experience if you want to go for some authentic french food.
Delicious French Restaurant in Miami. Very gentile owner. The duck confit is wow. Perfectly cooked, not pungent at all and just delicious!! My husband had the steak tartare which was very good as well For dessert we shared the pear tart. Very tasty and decent size to share This is the perfect restaurant if you are looking to have a not too touristy experience but a delicious meal instead.
Absolutely awesome food.we had the escargot, french onion soup, duck confit, pork chop, and croque madam. For dessert we had the tarte tatin.
Excellent. Solo diner. French onion soup is delicious and the ham cheese sandwich with egg bread.. And the owner is so sweet. Literally ran to the door to open it for me such a nice touch.
Best french onion soup ever! Snails were amazing !! ❤️ We have the Duck Confit was off the charts good! Great French style atmosphere, we will be back!
Hidden gem in the heart of coral Gables. Superb attention from owners and crew. Canard risotto was to die for, creamy and the right balance between the rice and the fresh shiitake mushrooms. Filet mignon was fabulous, period,. Juicy and tender inside, with the right balance of pepper sauce and the crunchy frites! Dark chocolate-caramel mouse…amazing. Hands down one of the best experiences I had lately… we’ll done Marco!
OMG this restaurant!!!!! I honestly had never heard about this place before until I had a lunch meeting here. The food is to die for. Our server recommended that I try their French onion soup and their Croque Madame. The French onion soup was delicious. It was my first time ever having a croque madame but it won’t be my last. It was to die for. The service was very warm and welcoming too. A few days after visiting the restaurant, I was craving the soup and croque madame so I placed an order for pick up. Will probably go back again this week too!! That’s just how good the food is.
Great shrimps 🍤 and tacos 🌮! Kids friendly.
Nuce and cozy place. Louise will make you feel like home. Bring your own wine. Food is delicious!
Cute little spot. Amazing delicious food with great service. 10/10 ! Will be visiting again (:
Great service, nice little place, very pleasant staff. Food is very good and fairly priced. Would go again !
Great little spot in the Gables, wonderful staff, and Gabriel the owner was a pleasure to visit and meet.
Delicious food, authentic french cuisine, the staff is incredibly nice, they also all speak french so it is a great opportunity for students to practice.
This restaurant is very authentic. I like this boutique restaurant. Servers are nice and environment safe and fun.
Top notch service and delicious food. The mussels were great as well as the escargot.
Been eating here for years, superb quality, service and cuisine.
What’s not to love about Frenchies!? Authentic French cafe cuisine served casually in a family friendly atmosphere. They also serve the best French onion soup and chèvre salad in town!
Amazing food!! Best French onion soup.. duck confit was too die for and to finish off with the most refreshing lemon panna cotta. Can’t wait to come back and try more!!
My favorite French bistrot around. I love the 'Moules frites' very good quality Moules and the best fries.
Authentic and cozy restaurant. Enjoyed their canard confit and fresh crusty baguette.
I absolutely loved this place. Thanks for places like this. I’d give a Michelin star (not sure if they have it)
Small place with cozy ambiance. Great service. Excellent onion soup, french bread, escargots, steak frits and salads. Reasonably priced too.
Very friends staff, amazing service, great authentic French food and menu. Took family to try out French food for their first time, they were 100% amazed.
They accommodated my vegan diet without any problems. People at my people loved their moules-frites, so typical and authentic. Try the tart Tatin as well.
Cozy little hole on the wall. Pleasant staff. Great wine selection and there is the food...OMG. Everything was perfect. From the bread and butter to the cake and coffee. Thank you
Nice restaurant walking distance from where I parked my bus . Good service I had the soup of the day , tartare steak and as dessert cappuccino. Was very good but a bit pricey
Best service ! Arrived 15 min before closing and they treated us like they just opened, no rush. Loved the onion soup.
the food is very very good, well prepare. a place to go to taste good franch food like in La France. the maisson pate, duck and steak trataré are delicious. need to returned
Great service, perfect food! Quiet nice friendly environment.
Tres bien…. Food was delicious with good portions. Atmosphere is rustic but charming. Nice little find.
We love this authentic French restaurant. The food is always excellent, great wine list and superb service.
Pretty much the best restaurant in Miami. Never fails to deliver highest quality cuisine every time. Simply the best!
Frenchies deserves the 5 stars I gave it! I eat here once a week! Great staff. Great chef. AMAZING food!
Love this restaurant! The cuisine is delicious and the ambience simple but cozy. Love the salad Nicoise. Simple perfection.
Authentically amazing French Food consistently amazing service too well worth it I recommend mussels, pâté and well everything is wonderful
Lovely and intimate atmosphere with very friendly staff! Fantastic food, wine, and overall a great place to enjoy a meal!
Fun cute place. One of my favorite diners I’ve been to. Food is amazing and service is great always.
What a great place in the Gables. Great things come in small packages. Food was absolutely delicious!!
The food was unbelievable and Gilberto was the best waiter we’ve had in Miami. Great atmosphere.
Great food. Also liked that our server was actually French. Get the onion soup, duh.
Food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere. Wait staff very friendly, courteous and attentive. Dessert wasn't my favorite but I bake and make desserts do in more critical when it comes to that. I would highly recommend
I Love this place! Been here at least 5 to 6 times over the years! This review slipped through the cracks, but here it is! It is small and quaint! Some times it gets a little warm and they have to adjust the air just like some places in France. They are attentive and welcoming. It feels like personal attention to the guests. My husband Loves their burgers and the Branzino. He has lunch there often! I Love the duck, foie gras, and mussels. We were there this week and had the Lavender Creme Brûlée which was so delicate and delicious!
I've never been here until recently, now it's one of my favorite places. Everything I get here is wonderful. The French onion soup is great and the burger is also top notch. I can't wait to return.
The food is spectacular (the duck risotto makes your mouth water) The staff is very friendly (always happy to chat or leave you be). And the ambience is great. You always leave happy and content. Love going back every time!
My partner and I just moved to Miami and were yearning for something similar to the authentic French restaurants we knew in New York. Perfect unpretentious date night spot. Get there before 7pm if you want a more intimate experience. The pâté maison and the prosciutto & goat cheese salad hit the spot. Steak frites were exactly what you had in mind when you made the res :)
I had dinner with clients here last night. The food was so enjoyable it made me forget I was working. The Mushroom Risotto with Duck Confit was the best dinner I have had in a restaurant in years. Their Crème Brule was delicately light and the chocolate mouse was just as good. I can't decide which one was better. My guests got the Ribeye and I also tried a piece. It completely melts in your mouth. I loved my food so much that I am going back tonight. The waitress was friendly and helpful throughout the evening. Whenever I am in the area, this will be my go to restaurant.
Love this place. Good things do come in small packages. This is a very friendly and quaint bistro. Great food; soups (French onion, butternut squash, carrot ginger, ...), fine fish, mussels, escargots, scallops, great filet mignon... We always feel so welcomed..
A nice small French restaurant. We were the first customers right when they opened for dinner and they welcomed us right away. Our servers took very good care of us. We enjoyed the escargot, onion soup, duck confit, pork chop special, and crop monsieur. And we to top it all of, we had their pear tarte tatin that was displayed so irresiatable on top of the bar. It was a dinner to remember and surely a place that we look forward to dine again. Thank you for having us!
So very good. So smart in business. Good snails. Normal snails are too spicy. And way to slimey. Yuck. This places snail are better than any other snail. You can taste the love and effort put into the making. They are so good. I take boyfriend with me and he love snail. Good snail he says. We come back soon bye now.
We had a great French dining experience at Frenchies. Had the best onion soup ever!! Service was great and atmosphere was also nice. Would definitely recommend this to everyone 👍
You’re wondering how you should spend a solo meal on a Wednesday evening in Miami? I’ve been welcomed by a smily Mrs Brit at 9:25 pm ( just before they close the kitchen ) and offered a specialty of Frenchie’s: crusty pork chops and salad. Gabriel, the funny owner and pure Brittany gentlemen offered me a chat in French and kindly invited me to sit at his table on the terrace with his friends. Restaurant is not only about feeding your stomach with good food, it’s also about experiencing new experiments so you never stop fulfilling your best memories. This restaurant was way above any of my expectations.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal with family from out of town. The service and hospitality made us feel very welcome. The food was superb! The Charcuterie was delicious with the various house-made meats and pâtés. The French Onion soup is something I could have every day. The Boeuf Bourguignon made with short rib was succulent. The Moules Frites were tender and juicy. The Risotto Champignon had such delicate flavors. The fish of the day was a grilled salmon over pillowy gnocchi. It’s no wonder why Frenchie’s is always packed!
You’ll read this a lot, “Frenchie’s restaurant in the Gables is a hidden gem” and that’s not an overstatement. Frenchie’s is one of the best restaurants in South Florida and you will not regret making a reservation. The food is perfectly made and mouthwatering. The owners Gabriel and Shannon plus their staff treats you like family with the utmost attention and care. I’ve been lucky to have all of their menu items over the past seven years and honestly, I have never had an issues or regret on any of my orders. For first timers I would recommend any of following for lunch: Duck Club, Croque Monsieur/Madame, or Bacon Burger (Lunch) and for Dinner: Risotto of the day, Moules Frites, Steak Frites, and get the escargot if you love butter and garlic. Every time I go to Frenchie’s with my wife, we ask ourselves when can we come back. Frenchie’s is great for a date or just breaking bread with friends and family. The environment is relaxing, cozy and effortless. If you want to slow down and take a break for the hustle and bustle of your daily life, treat yourself and the family with an experience at Frenchie’s Diner. PS They also offer take out and I can attest that the integrity and final product when you arrive home is as great as you will get at the restaurant. So if you can’t make it to the restaurant check out their take out menu.
Delicious food! Was there for a birthday party with about 10 people and everything we had was spectacular. A little pricey but worth every penny! I recommend the escargot
This is the best local GEM in Coral Gables (in all Miami-Dade!) Impeccable delicious food, outstanding service, great ambiance to come with friends, family or a date. Its consistently Spectacular each time we visit!
I love this restaurant. Yes it is very small but the owner and staff they always make you feel welcome and confortable. Authentic French food and delicious specially the onion soup and escargots.
This is the sort of local gem everyone yearns for: small, simple, quirky and charming with wooden tables and chairs on a tile floor... menu on a single chalkboard that is presented to each table... great, personable service by Gabriel and his colleagues. So far everything has been a true winner! Duck confit, croque madame, onion soup, pate, Shannon salad, mushroom risotto, fried pork chop with arugula salad... all 100% on point. It's now a weekly regular in the rotation! Quick tip: Visit for a super relaxing, lazy mid-afternoon lunch and enjoy!
I went to Frenchies with two special ladies and the owner, Gaby and his staff, did not disappoint us. The service was excellent and our appetizer and main course were absolutely delicious. This little gem of French restaurant takes very good care of its customers and the food is authentic. We had escargot as an appetizer, and our main course of filet mignon, and sea bass on a bed of risotto were absolutely done to perfection. Our dessert didn't not disappoint either. Blueberry bread putting and a decadent chocolate mousse. We all loved the food and the ambience. We all spend a wonderful evening and hope to return very soon. Merci
Gilberto was the an amazing server! Very attentive, personable, and made the Frenchie’s atmosphere!!!! Food was okay
Love coming to Frenchies! We had an amazing dinner- thank you so much to Gilberto he was wonderful and had such a great time!
What a wonderful experience dining here. The service couldn't be friendlier, the food was excellent, and the restaurant provides a quaint atmosphere. Highly recommend their mushroom risotto with duck confit, escargot, and French onion soup.
Very cute, very French; loved the menu with classics such as coq au vin, canard confit, steak frites, fois gras, etc.; and small yet nicely crafted wine list. Great place for a date or quiet dinner with friends. Can’t wait to return!
Excellent food and ambiance!!! It’s our 3rd time here and it’s becoming one of our favorite places in Coral Gables. Everything we had was delicious, from starters to deserts. Service is also impeccable. Place is so cute and special. 10/10.
Food and service were phenomenal! Gilberto really set the bar high - he was attentive, kind, and made our visit all the better. Thank you to Gilberto and the rest of the team at Frenchies for what you do, it’s truly a labor of love.
We had a truly great meal & experience here. The food was great. The service was great. Kind of felt like we were in a Brasserie in Paris. We started off with a glass of Sancere each. We both had onion soup, I had beef Bourguignon & my other half had the croque Monsieur. For desert the most incredible decedent dark chocolate sea salt mousse. We got to chat with the owner. He was very nice.
The food was great and our server was amazing! We had the mussels and they were delicious. For desert, we had the warm bread pudding and it was the perfect finish to our meal. Everything we got was spectacular. Our server was also amazing at explaining all the dishes to us. Thank you, Gilberto!
Amazing French local neighborhood spot. Reminded us of our time in Paris! We would highly recommend. From the food to the staff(Gilberto was the best), you feel like you are at home with the best food. Don’t miss out!
Cozy little French restaurant in a quiet area of Coral Gables. Attentive service. Limited menu on a small chalkboard. The duck confit is very tasty and is served on a bed of greens with a delicious dressing and fingerling potatoes. Bordeaux is very good, and they give u a bountiful amount when ordered by the glass. The bread pudding was too tough, though. Prices are high.
The best frech cuisine in the Miracle Mile! Great for a business meeting or a romantic dinner. The mussels, escargot and duck confit is highly recommended.
Very nice place. Small restaurabt, small menu but excellent food and service. A perfect place to enjoy lunch with friend, family or love. PD: ***Don't expect low prices***
Excellent escargot, duck sandwich, butternut squash soup. Great friendly staff and atmosphere. Will be back for sure with my friends
Very unic place, small menu which makes the place more interesting. The staff could be more friendly when you ask for food recommendation.
The pate appetizer was delicious. We ordered the lamb dish that was one of the special of the day. The bartender and server was excellent. The total for one appetizer and one main meal with three glasses of wine was overly priced even for the Gables for a hole in the wall.
I wanted to love it but the food was good but not memorable. The service although attentive was annoying (the one waiter kept interrupting my friend's story). So great looking little place in the gables with good food.
First time and not did not disappoint. Great wines and classic French menue. Casual atmosphere.
1. Excellent waiter, super solicitous 2. Rainbow trout was dry and sauce was absorbed by the skin, which i dont eat. 3. Rib eye was tough. 4. Salad was delicious 5. Breadpudding was hard but had good flavor. I had eaten there before and it was A+, so they must have had a bad day. It happens. A good place for a date, intimate, sexy and French.
Have I really never reviewed this place? I've been coming to Frenchie's for over a year. The staff is pretty friendly if busy and kind of loud (you'll hear the manager (owner?) shushing then loudly every 10-15 minutes. We ALWAYS get the French onion soup, pate, and escargot. Love the mussels and French fries and the duck confit is excellent as well. I've taken my parents and my boyfriends parents there and they all love it! I will say their down fall is that they NEVER write down orders (at least not in front of you) so at least 3 times I've gone and had food I didn't order set in front of me. They're always fully and always busy which is a great sign
The salad was tasty, however the crust of the keaish was burnt and appeared to be warmed in a microwave.
Casual French bistro, great French onion soup, moderately good service. Fun place overall, a bit pricey though, given the modest overall quality.
We have enjoyed Frenchie's for many years . We dined there this evening were shocked at the price$ I had a dried out over cooked pork chop all of 4 ounces it came with fries and was $45.00 . When the average bill per person is over $100. They have forgotten they are as the name implies a " Bistro/Diner "simple dishes modestly priced , not gourmet cuisine with appetizers averaging $25. , entrees at $50. I feel they are trying to make up what they lost with COVID . I will gladly pay for good food but not pay for over priced average fare. Also patrons expect a cloth napkin not paper at these prices . Word of mouth spreads fast . Listen Frenchie !!! I will never return. M. Anthony
Most of these reviews talk about how expensive this restaurant is. The price isn’t so much the problem as the food lacks taste and flavor. Was really disappointed. I lived in France for 10 years and was really hoping this would be a go to spot.
They accept dinner reservations so make them if you want to go, as the place has limited seating. The wait staff is pleasant as the owner is usually there, but I would raise the amount of $$$ in the restaurant review. It’s essentially a French diner with paper napkins, paper table cloth, and a typical Brasserie atmosphere. The food is good but not to the standard of a fine French Brasserie/Restaurant for the prices. The wine list is extraordinarily overpriced, as other restaurants in a higher category have more reasonable prices (wine bottles start at $60.00). The servers are pleasant but the service is just ok. In our opinion it’s overrated. There’s nothing memorable that I would want to return for.
This place had all the makings of being a great casual dinner night out. It was a pretty slow night with a bunch of tables available but we hoped to sit outside. The only table available was set up for four and when we asked if they could be separated for two we were told there was a reservation. 20 minutes later another couple showed up and requested the same and got their way, while we were stuck inside. Said “reservation” never showed. The menu had all the classic French favorites. However, the $49 filet au poivre while ordered and delivered medium was dry and tough. Our feedback fell on deaf ears. If I had to guess this was pre-cooked and quickly seared and microwaved. We had ordered a side of green beans which actually came as part of the entree. We wish we knew so we could have ordered something different. Thankfully the company was good and saved the night.
Esperaba mucho más por el sabor de la onion soup, le faltó power y me pareció muy sweet.
I wanted beef bourguignon and found this restaurant . Even though it was ridiculous price , I insisted on ordering it. I’m not sure what the chef thought but this was NOT beef bourguignon, it was a bland , unseasoned braised beef over a cream sauce without red wine or pearl onions. He needs to watch Julia Child or go to a French Restaurant to get recipes.
-Onion soup too sweet but generous amount of cheese -Steak hard to chew and bernaise sauce not enough to flavor the steak, fries very good -trout with pure butter sauce, no lemon or other ingredients to improve the taste -slow service
Sept 2022 RIP Frenchies - we will miss you. I do not know what happend, new owner? We dined at our favorite resturant in Coral Gables this past Saturday and the staff, atmosphere and food has change and not for the better. Food is not as good, portion sizes are smaller and it does not taste as good. So sad. While in the area for business meeting, we dined at Frenchies. Absolutely the best dining exprience. Staff was exceptional friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The onion soup, pate de jour and duck confit was so delicious. Highly recommended.
Overcooked under flavored steaks that are good enough for shoe leather. The fish was good but for what they charged for the Filets that were ordered by three of us we could've eaten at any other restaurant in the Gables with a far superior result.
we went this weekend to try it out, the owners are very friendly, the mussels had absolutely no taste the same as the beef bourguignion no flavor...
Horrible service by waitress. Unsure if food is good because we left due to service prior to ordering. The waitress had an extremely bad attitude from the minute we walked in the door.
I will admit, that when you do finally sit down, the food is good. However, walk-ins are never welcomed. You can only sit if you have a reservation. Don't mind that the place is completely empty at 630pm (opens at 6pm), they are waiting for all their reservations that apparently are scheduled for 7pm. Imagine all the tables (12 or so) getting sat at once, I don't even think there kitchen can handle it. So, don't bother going without a reservation and of you call, hopefully they cleared their voice-mail so that you can actually talk to some one.
If you don’t like cigarette smoke; don’t eat here!!! I want to go to a restaurant that the owner appreciates my business; this is certainly not that place. At this restaurant, the woman chef/owner sat right next to our table and chain smoked… even though our waiter whispered in her ear that customers were complaining, she continued to smoke. Mind you, she was not eating; she could have easily moved but refused. And all of this happened just as we were being served our main meals. Not only did she ruin our experience, she seemed to enjoy doing so. So no, I do not recommend this restaurant; the food isn’t even that good. There are plenty other French restaurants that appreciate their clientele and have good food – go there, not here!!!
Nasty hostess!/server. We wanted to eat a sandwich which was listed on their menu online and at the restaurant. Flat out told us sandwiches were not available for dinner, but they were listed in the menu on both blackboards. We had already ordered wine and soda and paid for them and left. She was rude telling us that was the first thing she told us, even though none of us heard her say that through her fake French accent.
The food was mediocre and the worst of all is that we told them and they didn’t offer to exchange the dish. A Niçoise salad for $29.09 ! With no taste and the tuna was no fresh either. They charged my friend $16.00 for a house wine during lunch hour . My friend’s mussels didn’t have any taste either:( will never go back (absurd prices)
