My two sisters and I went in on a Thursday at 6:15 with no reservations. We were warmly welcomed at the host stand and told they could seat us at the bar. We asked the host who seated us what his favorite dishes are and he recommended the creamy polenta appetizer and the pork chop. We were then greeted at the bar by Maria who was friendly and extremely helpful. She recommended a few wines and dishes and we settled on the polenta appetizer, a salad to share then we shared the spaghetti pomodoro, the mushroom pasta and the pork chop. Everything was truly delicious and we would definitely return.

Fantastic Italian restaurant with casual artsy vibe. 4.8 rating. Food, service, and vibe were all on point. Highlight is the fantastic authentic Italian food, simply prepared with top ingredients. Simple dishes like pasta pomodoro are delicious - due to great pasta, tomatoes, etc. Hard to find restaurants that keep it simple but amazing - it’s not easy. Highly recommend the Burrata appetizer, the Macchialina pasta, and tiramisu for dessert. The Veal Milanese was exceptional - better than what I’ve had in Milan. It’s perfectly prepared. Service was friendly and professional. Design, menus, and other details have an artsy vibe. Favorite with local foodies. Highly recommend.

This inventive Italian restaurant is a beloved Miami Beach institution, and though the menu is smallish, there are always delightful surprises. This year, it gave us some new insight into lemon preserves. We earlier had loved the flavor of a pasta entree special with, surprising to us, lemon preserves. It wasn't on the specials menu this week, but we shared a salad which also had lemon preserves and was wonderfully flavorful (it's a good size, so sharing is fine). My husband ordered a specials entree with sausage and a type of rabe and tiny gnocchi which was bright and veggie-fresh (not bitter at all, as rabe can be) that we both really enjoyed. I had the polenta with mushrooms starter as an entree, which was so beautifully rich and creamy it filled me up and I had to take some of it home (and it was great the next day too). That said, know that this restaurant can be pretty loud. When we arrived at 7, it was full and the cacophony just from customers talking, dishes clanging and normal hustle and bustle was noticeable. At a table for two, we had to speak up significantly to talk to each other. The music was not loud, but so many speakers were hard to avoid. For easier conversing, I'd advise trying the very back of the terrace or coming at opening.

I wish I could give it more stars. The waitress was utterly kind. She patiently helped our group select a wine pairing with the meal, and guided me through vegetarian decisions and the customizations that could be made. I tried both the mushroom dish and the pomodoro pasta - and the pomodoro took the win. I’ve never much enjoyed a red sauce pasta, but it was immensely flavorful and rich. Hardly spoke a word the whole meal because I enjoyed it so much. The tiramisu was interesting, I don’t think I was a fan of the iced espresso on top, but it was still fun to try. I will continue to come back. Not to mention the interior and the exterior of the restaurant is stunning, with the tall banana, bird of paradise, and monstera plants (dare I say, trees) around the vicinity.

First restaurant out of a dozen we’ve visited in Miami that offered complimentary snacks/appetizers, which was a really nice touch. Our waiter was polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was both lively and relaxed

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our evening at Macchialina in South Beach was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we settled in at the bar, we were captivated by the vibrant yet effortlessly refined atmosphere. The food was simply exquisite—each dish a testament to thoughtful preparation and authentic Italian flavor. Every bite reflected the kitchen’s dedication to quality and craft. What truly elevated our experience was the impeccable service. Maria, our bartender, was warm, gracious, and exceptionally knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. Jackie, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our evening was perfect. Her attentiveness and gracious spirit made us feel thoroughly cared for. It is rare to find a place where ambiance, cuisine, and hospitality harmonize so beautifully. We will most certainly return to Macchialina and recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Miami Beach. Five stars all around.

Amazing experience at Macchialina. We had done some research looking for the best restaurants on South Beach and this restaurant kept coming up. We were so glad we decided to visit. We were expecting the meal to be good based on reviews, but our dinner absolutely exceeded our expectations. We had professional, attentive, warm, friendly service by the staff from star to finish. They were knowledgeable regarding the menu and gave great recommendations. I believe our server was Neil and he was training another gentlemen (can't recall his name) and both were wonderful. Our meal felt/tasted both high-end and yet reminiscent of homemade Italian meals I had growing up. I was not expecting to be transported down memory lane when we arrived, but it truly was a lovely, surprisingly nostalgic meal. Every dish we ordered was delicious. Every cocktail we ordered was also delicious. We will absolutely be adding Macchialina to our normal rotation when we are visiting South Beach.

I recently visited from NYC and had the pleasure of trying their tasting menu. They were incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and I couldn’t stop indulging! The portions were just right, and the service and atmosphere were top-notch. You absolutely must try the Tiramisu! I would highly recommend coming back here again.

The food here was exceptionally good—bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The mushroom pasta was absolutely divine. The restaurant offers an extensive and thoughtfully curated wine list, featuring an impressive selection of skin-contact wines. Each glass was vibrant, complex, and wonderfully expressive, making for a perfect pairing with the pasta. The atmosphere is lively, buzzing with energy, yet still relaxed and welcoming. The spacious outdoor terrace is elegantly designed and ideal for enjoying a leisurely meal. A truly beautiful spot with incredible food and wine—highly recommended!

My partner and I were looking for a special meal during a single night in Miami, and a quick scan of The Infatuation and Eater pointed us toward Macchialina. I’m very glad it did. We popped over the causeway, wandered South Beach for a bit, then made our way up the west side of the island as the sun set over the city — a lovely prelude to the evening. From the moment we arrived at Macchialina, the experience felt thoughtful and welcoming. The hostess and a few members of the team greeted us warmly, picked up immediately on a note I’d left with the reservation, and seated us at a beautiful, tucked-away table for two — exactly what I’d hoped for. The view (pictured) was perfect. The food is generous and deeply satisfying. We started with a shared plate of salumi, accompanied by gnocco fritto and a lovely mostarda. A dish of creamy polenta followed — absolutely divine, and possibly illegal in at least twelve states. Seriously: order it. The only miss for me was a lasagna special that skewed a bit too rich; it would have worked better as a shared dish. Everything else landed beautifully. The cocktails were excellent, the room had a great energy (buzzy but never loud), and the service deserves special mention. The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve encountered anywhere — attentive without hovering, warm without overstepping, and genuinely knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list. We felt like returning friends rather than first-timers. Overall, I loved Macchialina. The pasta shines, the service is outstanding, and the vibe was exactly what the doctor ordered. Get the polenta and thank me later. And to the team: thank you for helping create a truly memorable night.

Highly recommend Macchialina! This is one of my favorite spots here in South Florida. We tried out the chef's tasting and it was incredible! Will definitely be coming back here sometime soon! Great and helpful staff, delicious food, and fair prices for the quality and portion that you will receive. 5 Stars!

Fantástico environment, service and feeling of the place. Regarding the food, the taste, creativity and selection of food and wine have been excellent. It’s not cheap but you feel is worth it. Very good Quality-Price

Not only was our server Jacci fantastic, but so was the food and the ambiance. My friend and I got the chefs tasting menu, which is $70 for four courses. In reality, though we got eight dishes total. They are smaller portions than if you got them individually, but it allows you to taste Macchialina’s greatest hits. Also, shout out to the hosts for being flexible when I was running very late due to traffic. My stand out favourite dishes were the polenta, the Cacio E Pepe pasta, and the tiramisu. The tiramisu specifically has coffee shaved ice on top, which I think detracted from the wonderful cake underneath.

Outstanding Italian. From now on whenever someone asks for a recommendation in Miami I will start my list with this place. The place is small and cozy but very comfortable. It has dim lights so it does have a bit of a romantic feel while still somehow blending very nicely with a mixed playlist. Service was outstanding, every recommendation made by Trevor was on point. He noticed my wife is carrying our first baby and he went out of his way in accommodating her. Just straight up good service. Food was superb, salumi, pastas, dessert, everything was really really good. It’s easy to forget how good Italian can taste when you get used to the common places, this one hit all the right spots. Drinks were really good too, I had an Italian pale ale and the Nonna’s sour, both really good. Price is a bit high as it would be expected but the quality is undoubtedly there. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Miami so far.

Delicious food and quite a popular spot! So when you book a table you have to be there on time and leave at the time they tell you. You almost have to rush to eat your food. However, it is delicious and full of flavors. Loved the pastas and desserts!

Great Italian dining and service, tasty dishes all, from the apps to the dessert. Only taking 1 star away because of the noise level inside... Do _not_ try to have a quiet conversation in the main dining room.

Macchialina in Miami stands as a bastion of rustic Italian cuisine, a place where the authenticity of the food speaks to the soul of Italy. The restaurant’s selection of wines is commendable, featuring a range that pairs beautifully with the robust flavors of their dishes. Our culinary journey began with the Cacio e Pepe, a classic dish that, while good, didn’t quite hit the mark for me, lacking a bit in the depth of flavor I anticipated. However, any initial disappointment was quickly forgotten once the truffle pasta with mushroom arrived. It was a dish that reveled in its own richness, offering an aromatic and flavor-packed experience that can only be described as truly amazing. But the highlight, without question, was the short rib lasagna. It was a revelation, redefining what this traditional dish could be. The layers of pasta, tender short rib, and cheese were expertly balanced, creating the best lasagna I’ve ever had. It’s a dish that demands attention and fully deserves its status as a must-try in Miami. The ambiance at Macchialina matches the excellence of its cuisine; cozy yet refined, it’s a venue that envelops you in warmth and comfort. It is, undeniably, a must-try destination and earns its place as one of the top restaurants in Miami for those in search of an authentic Italian experience.

Great fresh pasta with amazing sauce. Highly recommend the Burrata and also the CAVATELLI MACCHIALINA. Probably the best meatballs I have had and the sauce has so much shredded meat. Excellent service as well.

Everything from start to finish was beautiful at Macchialina and you can understandably see why they received a Michelin star. We went for a martini masterclass, but they didn't shy away from their service and the drinks were top notch. All this and the space was absolutely gorgeous. I will def be back soon to eat!

Date night dinner!! We got a chance to experience their new outdoor dinning area (pictured). It was really lovely with the current temperature (low 60s). We did check out the inside and it was really cozy!! Definitely will try to score a reservation inside next time. Food: burrata 10/10, polenta (comforting) 9/10, lasagna 9/10, halibut,,. 8/10? It is not as tasty as the rest, but still good!! The problem is when you eat pieces without the sauce, then it feels like it’s missing something. But if you have it with the sauce, it will be tasty. Will be coming back!

M
Martha Olivia

Really lovely rustic Italian menu. We had the tasting menu for two with one wine pairing. Everything was excellent: simple, bright, flavorful. It comes with a *wild* amount of food and you get to try 8 dishes in what they call four courses. Definitely a good deal for the price. Waiter was very knowledgeable and the service was great - really noticed the small stuff that most wait staff don't seem to be trained in anymore. A pleasure to eat here.

Updated review: we revisited Macchilina last night to see the recently reopened patio and it was a fantastic experience. The food was top notch as always and the service was impeccable, despite having nearly doubled the capacity with the recent renovations. Note the patio is now covered so rain is no longer an issue. We also peaked into the new indoor dining room and want to come back soon to sit in there, especially in the summer when indoors is preferred.

Absolutely amazing experience! Great ambience and superb service made us feel like we were dining in a Roman trattoria. The pasta was the best we've had in Miami – fresh and perfectly cooked. The burrata appetizer was mouthwatering, and the tiramisu was out of this world. The spritz was perfect for a summer afternoon. A wonderful way to end a week of birthday celebrations. 100% recommended!

Had a great dinner on a Sunday night here. We loved all the dishes, especially the burrata with prosciutto, the branzino, and the tiramisu dessert. Service was quick and we had no problems. We'll definitely come back next time we're in South Beach

I had heard SO much about Macchialina over the years yet somehow had never made it out. That all changed when I some friends visiting from Toronto were staying on the Beach. I decided to make a reservation here & I could not have been happier! Our waiter, Manny, was great & entertainingly full of Miami facts! The restaurant itself is SO charming & romantic with a lush, dimly lit outdoor terrace. Definitely want to come back for date night! Now on to the food... THE FOOD!!! It was me & 4 men so lots was ordered (better for me since I was able to taste a lil bit of everything). Highlights included: -BROCCOLINI AL CESARE (yum!) -HAMACHI CRUDO (fresh & tasty) -INSALATA TRICOLORE (i was deeply obsessed with this salad & kept going back for more! so fresh & the dressing so bright! perfect compliment to the richness of the pastas & cheeses) -TAGLIOLINI AI FUNGHI (delicious umami bomb) -CACIO E PEPE (one of the best i've had & taken to another level when we added the available white truffle. absolutely decadent!) -TORTELLONI (loved this! the cauliflower & walnut made it so unique) Desserts were equally incredible! We had the BREAD PUDDING & the TIRAMISU. JUST GORGEOUS!!!! We had also ordered the MEDITERRANEAN BRANZINO but were so full, we were thankfully in time to cancel. Throughout the meal we had wonderful cocktails & Manny regaled us with funny tidbits about the Magic City all while great music played in the background & a fantastic time was had by all. It really is such a special place with such a great vibe! Can't wait to come back very soon. There's a BRANZINO there with my name on it ;)

We had a great dining experience at Macchialina! We went with the tasting menu which we loved but there are so many amazing dishes it’s hard to get everything but the tasting menu is $70 and you get an excellent selection of their star dishes. They have a good wine and cocktail list and specialize in martinis. So the tasting menu I think changes but we got: Creamy polenta (ahh-mazing and the mushrooms are so delicious). Street Filone (I think. Super surprising and delicious, loved the chili oil). Broccolini. Perfectly prepared. We did not get the buratta or the insalata tricolore but I think it’s just a testament to them having so many good dishes. These dishes looked incredible. For the pasta course we got to have the cavatelli- the meatballs were so tender and the sauce was great. The cacao e Pepe was very good and the gnocchi was particularly good. We did not get the lasagna but it looked really amazing as did the pasta with clams. But overall excellent to get a taste of 6 dishes across 2 courses. We then got the veal Milanese. The arugula and sundried tomato’s on top were good. The tiramisu was good. Overall service was top notch and the outdoor dining area was peaceful despite the restaurant being on a Main Street although the inside of the restaurant was really a great vibe. Make sure to ask for bread- it is incredible!

Went with two girlfriends, one had been there before and highly recommend the "chefs plate". We all ordered it and shared each portion. It was amazing food, I think $70 pp is a bit hefty but whatever. All of the pastas served had cream based sauce and would have been nice to try others as I personally am not into Alfredo or cream sauces but it definitely was good and ate more variety then I'm used to. We sat in the outdoor "patio" area which was nice and the service was spot on. PS - the risotto was my fav

If you have never been here before, what I strongly recommend is the tasting menu (with the wine pairings, if you partake). It was amazing. I tend to order food conservatively and feel I would have totally missed out on the amazing options without trying different dishes. What a fabulous, memorable meal with excellent service. Cannot wait to come back.

The food was amazing. At first I was concerned by the shabby frontage on Alton Road, but once inside the space is very pleasant. We shared some antipasti followed by the tuna carpaccio, tagliatelle and meatball pasta. All delicious. Dessert was great. The Sicilian white was very pleasant. Recommended.

Such a wonderful experience. We decided to do the chefs tasting experience which was definitely a great decision. Food was amazing, from the appetizers to the pastas, fish and dessert, everything was absolutely delicious. All dishes are delicious. The place is so cozy and warm. Service was outstanding and very professional. The waiters was so well versed with the ingredients and how the dishes were made and cooked. The price is not cheap but is expected at a place like that. To summarize, The food and service were exceptional, highly recommend!

Recently visited here for dinner while on vacation and it was delicious! I will say the music is loud inside, but we love that vibe but if loud music during dinner is not your thing, just letting you know in advance. The food was amazing and our waiter was great, and made an excellent wine selection for us. My favorite thing on the menu, funny enough was the bread that came with our charcuterie board. The bread was a cross between a roll and a sweet dough, I could have had ten of them.

P

We had such a wonderful meal and experience for our anniversary dinner! Our server Matt was so helpful and knowledgeable about all of the plates we were served and he very wisely recommended the chef’s tasting menu and a scrumptious bottle of white wine! Everything was so well done with perfectly balanced flavors that left you wanting more, it was almost impossible to pick our favorite dishes but I highly enjoyed and recommend the mezzaluna pasta, the polenta, panino, and the tiramisu!! Will certainly be back and already raving about it to our friends and family before we’re even out the door!!

I had really great experience here! Take a table outside and you’ll be in nice green yard. Food is amazing! Polenta is must have. Try ravioli, they are really special, the taste is open with every bite and combination of flavors is incredible. For dessert I highly recommend tiramisu. You’ll never guess what is on the top, and I won’t tell you, you should try it, it will be a great surprise. One of the best Italian places in Miami!

Visiting Miami on a work trip and found this gem of an Italian place just a 5-minute walk from my hotel, and their tagliolini ai funghi was the absolute best pasta I have ever had. Truly, I was savoring each bite, and I continued to think about it the next morning. If you're in Miami, it is a must-eat place. The cacio e pepe was also outstanding, the puff bread and broccolini also wonderful. The ambiance of the outdoor patio was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the general experience of the outing was perfect.

N

This little Italian restaurant has some of the best house made pasta! It was perfectly al dente, and the sauces were flavorful. Their wine selection and suggestions were also on point. Don't skip dessert because they have an interesting take on the traditional Tiramisu! Our server was so kind and patient with our large group. Prices are reasonable. I'd definitely come back!

J
Jackie Shtemberg

Food is clearly high quality here. The Tre colore salad was truly incredible and don’t sleep on the simplicity of the pasta pomodore. Staff was very accommodating to gluten and dairy allergy and not advertised but they do have corn fusilli gluten free pasta that you can combine with any sauce. Would absolutely go back.

Macchialina is a quaint restaurant with big tastes. We opted for the chefs tastings and wine pairing. AMAZING! We definitely suggest you go hungry. After all, this is an Italian Resteraunt where they make their own pasta. I must day, I do not like gnocchi…. Like at all.. and I already decided to order that dish the next time I go. The staff are amazing. Very knowledgeable on the wines history and tastes. Highly recommend it.

Our search for a late-night dining spot in Miami led us to Macchialina, a vibrant Italian gem that offered seating after 10pm. The decision to visit this restaurant was, without a doubt, a rewarding choice that my girlfriend and I will always cherish. Our culinary journey began with an enticing ensemble of appetizers served together. The Gnocco Fritto, a puffed bread from Emilia-Romagna, provided a delightful crunch, perfectly paired with the creamy Polenta and Local Burrata. Each component was a joy in itself, but together they created a symphony of textures and flavors. The burrata was paired with Prosciutto di Parma, offering a delightful balance between the creaminess of the cheese and the saltiness of the ham. Meanwhile, the Broccolini al Cesare was a pleasant surprise, carrying a robust flavor profile that set the stage for the main course. When the Gnocchi Con Chanterelles and the NY Strip steak arrived, we were already impressed, but these dishes took the experience to a new level. The gnocchi, bathed in a rich cheese sauce, were simply divine. The steak, cooked to perfection, challenged my usual preferences and gave me a newfound appreciation for this cut of meat. Throughout the evening, we indulged in a variety of exquisite cocktails. Each was crafted to perfection, serving as a delicious accompaniment to the gastronomic adventure we were on. What made Macchialina truly remarkable was not just the culinary excellence, but the exceptional service and inviting ambiance, even late into the night. It was an experience that left us craving more of their delicious fare. So, if you’re in Miami and in need of a late-night dining spot, Macchialina is a must-visit.

Wonderful food. Great staff. Nice room. Outdoor seating available as well. Had the short rib lasagna. A unique twist on traditional lasagna. Short rib ragu, and a pasta was soft like gnocchi. I'll try to duplicate this at home. Enjoyed a light and refreshing salad made of sugar snap peas, proscuitto, parmesan, and vinaigrette dressing. Also had the taglioni al funghi that was expertly prepared. Had the pork and veal polpetti that had a little too much bread in it for my liking. The sauce it was cooked in was great. Finished with a glass of their spicy homemade chocolate liquor.

What a great experience. The food here was made to perfection. We ordered a variety of dishes and there wasn't one we disliked. Flavors all went very well together. Would come back and highly recommend.

Really amazing hand made food here. The sidewalk vibe was fine, would have been really cool to eat indoors, high energy hip vibe. Only downfall was timing. Initial drinks and app took a while and one of the entrees arrived a minute after the second course anrrived and my partners didn’t arrive for another 10 minutes. All in all really good and would return in a heartbeat. Cacio Pepe and meats and cheese were favorites

Macchialina is hands down the best Italian restaurant in the city. The pasta is fresh and perfectly executed, the flavors are bold yet balanced, and the service is always friendly and attentive. The cozy, local vibe makes it feel like a hidden gem, whether you're there for a casual dinner or a special night out. Highly recommend for anyone who loves authentic Italian done right.

Phenomenal food and service: We do talk about Bruno! After reading a review of Macchialina in Wine Spectator I was very interested in exploring their food and wine. The wine list curated by owner Jackie Pirolo is fascinating: there are the typical Italian varietals one would expect, but what is really amazing is the attention to those varieties of wine that many people may not be aware of. Jackie’s mission is to present these wines with her brother Michael’s food in a way that draws people in and encourages them to seek out these not often thought of wines. A very fine mission indeed. I sampled the Chef’s tasting menu and top to bottom, it was superb. Incredible depth of flavor, excellent presentation, and the wine pairings were spot on (see my Instagram post at nostriamici_john for details). And the service was outstanding. Our server Bruno was extremely knowledgeable about wine and was able to explain the reason for pairing the food and wines. He was prompt, courteous, and attentive without being intrusive. A true professional. His helper always kept our water glass full, and cleared plates when appropriate. The attention to detail around service was quite a pleasant experience. If you are in Miami, like food, wine, and good service, go to Macchialina. You will have a wonderful time.

I would definitely recommend. Pasta was very good, you could taste freshness of the ingredients and very friendly staff. Antipasti options were delicious and their gnocco fritto so yummy. I had the tagliolini ai fungi and the agnoloti both dishes very flavorful. Dessert i tried the banana bread, was good but not my favorite. I will come back to try the miramos, which looked amazing too.

What can I say….firstly the negative diners on here, honestly don’t have a clue! End of! We were in town for 2 nights before heading out on a cruise. First night ate here. From the welcome to the servers to the food, it really was excellent, a real treat of a place. We were so impressed, yep we went back the 2nd and was expecting the same. Nope, it was even better than the first night. The staff remembered us and treated us royally. I spotted a chef and had to say how good the previous night was and my god did he (Trevor) make even more effort than I thought was possible…..we felt blown away by his hospitality! What a find!

Macchialina was incredible. Marina and Maria made us feel so welcomed. They were warm, helpful, and genuinely made the experience special. The food was unbelievable. The pasta tasted homemade and was easily some of the best we’ve ever had. Everything had so much flavor, and the drinks were perfect. Highly recommend! 🍝✨

I have been coming to Macchialina for years and it never fails to satisfy. Incredible food, drinks, service, ambiance, and music! The half chicken is cooked to absolute perfection every time, and the broccolini cesare has such a unique flavor I have to order it every time. Another favorite is the mushroom taglioni- incredible. I’ll never stop coming here. The chefs, Trevor and Tony, always put in the effort to personalize the dining experience. 10/10!!!! Salut.

Lively Italian, serving delicious food. Service was excellent. Very hard to find any faults, but I'm not sure why they would add a CC surcharge in this day and age. Perhaps a discount for cash would be a more customer friendly way, rather than thier "let's poke the customer in the eye" right at the very end of thier experience style of fiscal management. Deserves it's strong reputation otherwise.

Fantastic dinner here. Even on a Tuesday night it was busy on the patio. The polenta was unreal as well as the abalone mushroom pasta. Definitely will be back.

My wife and I had a great dinner. The food was fresh, interesting, and delicious. The atmosphere was nice. Our waitress Maddie was knowledgeable and kind. The staff were all attentive. I highly recommend eating here!

Macchialina serves tasty, no frills, classic Italian dishes. The pastas were fresh and slightly Al dente to perfection while the appetizers were equally as fresh and delicious. The desserts all looked great, but the bread pudding that we had did not disappoint. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant while in south beach.

Has to be one of the best meal I’ve ever had, my wife and I did the chef’s tasting menu, amazing value and great experience! 10/10

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. It’s a one of a kind experience, I would truly recommend to all of my friends. Food came fast, which is a big plus for me in a busy restaurant. We sat in the patio/outdoor area. It was perfect. Inside was great too, but a bit too loud (music) and cold (AC) for me. I’d recommend coming early at 5pm when they open so you can experience both the restaurant in the day and night atmosphere. Insalate Tricolore tasted like heaven, I could eat just this and already be happy. I also had Agnolotti Alla Zucca and it was fantastic. No room for dessert this time, but hopefully I’ll be back.

This is the best Italian restaurant I have been to in FL. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. If I did not live so far I would good much more often to enjoy a meal at this great establishment. We were fortunate to try several items and they all were very fresh, my favorite was Gnoccehetti Alla Norma and tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal!

The perfect destination for anyone who loves amazing food, natural wine and great vibes. We want to shout out Yana for their attentiveness and exceptional service. They were extremely knowledgeable and helped us with our selections. We even took a bottle home with us! We will definitely be back next time we are in Miami :)

Amazing Italian dishes. Cavatapi pasta with meatballs was delicious! We also had the Branzino which came in a butter sauce, it was cooked perfectly and tasted really good! We paired it with an Abruzzo do Montepulciano which was recommended by Maria. She was excellent with all her recommendations! We finished with the bread pudding and paired that with a Fred Jerbis Chestnut Barrel Fernet. We left fully satisfied and happy! I'll be back again when I visit Miami next.

Hidden gem in Miami! I attended a reception while in town for work at the darling restaurant. Not much curb appeal but when you sneak down the alley entrance you are immediately immersed in a wonderful covered patio with a buzzy atmosphere. The cocktails were clever and refreshing but the food is what really stood out. We enjoyed a four course tasting menu family style and I’m still torn on my best bite - it’s some where between the creamy polenta, warm and hearty meatball pasta, or the perfectly cooked steak resting in the most delicious an silky sauce. Clearly everything was going right. Dessert was just as fabulous, with a clever espresso granita. All in all I will be telling everyone to head here when in town. Congratulations to management- excellent service.

Fantastic! Went on Saturday, 11/8/2025. Was able to reserve two seats at the bar for 8:30 (only booked the prior evening). We had been twice before, but many years ago and had not been too impressed either time and stopped returning. A friend said they redid the space and we should give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised. The new space is enormous and has a great vibe. Sorry I did not take any photos but we started with a cavatelli pasta to share. I was then going to have the veal Milanese. I asked for a side of marinara because sometimes this dish can be dry or just a bit boring for me. The bartender/waitress let me in on a secret and said that they can prepare it like a veal parm, which I love. It was delicious. I’m so glad our fried told us about this place as we now have added it back to our list for favorite spots in South Beach!

Excellent pasta and amazing service from Jose and Nico. They were both incredibly attentive and made the whole experience even better. Without a doubt, some of the best pasta in Miami Beach. Highly recommend!

We loved everything about our dinner date at Macchialina. The food, the service, the wine selection, the ambiance. It is simply a top restaurant serving really tasty authentic Italian food. What else can be said!

Came here in 2019 and it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. Just came again in 2026. They have moved to a larger location next door. The food is still incredible, easily some of the best Italian food I have found anywhere. Our waitress and sommelier were super friendly and extremely helpful. I will say that at a certain point the service tapered off, though that appeared to be due to the waitress handling too many tables. Though absolutely worth the wait, It took a very long time for entrees to come. Keep In mind they ask that you order all items at one so they can properly space out the meal.

This is such a wonderful place for so many reasons. As soon as you walk in, it’s dimly lit, the patio has great music, the vibes are great. If you’re lucky, you get Maddy for a server who was essentially the star of the show. I’ve never been so dazzled by service so quickly before- she has the most incredible balance of professionalism and friendliness. Then the food was EQUALLY as amazing. The polenta- do not miss that. We will 100% be back. Thank you for a great experience :)

Had dinner at Macchialina Taverna Rustica on December 30 and had an excellent experience overall. The tasting menu was strong, well-executed, and full of authentic, comforting flavors. Service was a real highlight. Our waiter, originally from Sorrento, Italy, was outstanding, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, adding a special, authentic touch to the evening. A few minor points for attention. It was also an unusually cold day, and we were seated on the patio while dining with our 2-year-old son. We had asked for a more wind-sheltered table, but were seated near the parking lot with limited coverage, despite more protected tables being available. Some items on the tasting menu could have been better suited to the flow of the meal, for example the iced tiramisu desert was surprising on the cold day (the banana bread dessert would have been a much better option). The music was also quite party-like and felt somewhat out of touch with the otherwise rustic, intimate atmosphere. Despite these small points, the quality of the food and the exceptional service made for a memorable evening. A well-deserved 5/5, and a place we would happily return to when back in Miami

Madison (Maddie) was a true professional. Having dined at restaurants around the world — across Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia — I can confidently say I’ve never experienced service like this. She guided me through every course of the chef’s tasting menu with exceptional knowledge and clarity. I didn’t just eat the food; I understood why I was eating it. Each dish was thoughtfully explained, enhancing the entire experience. Madison’s wine expertise was equally impressive. She shared the region, vintage, and the story behind every pour — something that is truly rare and deeply appreciated by any serious diner. Beyond the outstanding service, every course was absolutely exceptional. This was a dining experience in every sense of the word. I will strongly recommend Machialiana to any discerning diner seeking world-class food and service.

PERFECT PASTA The four of us did the $75 chef’s tasting menu and it is a great way to explore the menu. We loved every dish we had and were so full we were unable to enjoy dessert. LOLzzz Had a reservation on a Friday for 8:30 and was not seated until almost 9pm… They brought us a snack as an apology, but they should be doing better at keeping the timing straight.

Having lived in Miami for years, I was surprised that it took me so long to finally dine here. We arrived for our 8:30 p.m. reservation on a Wednesday evening and found the restaurant bustling. Despite being busier than anticipated, the staff remained attentive and accommodating. While waiting for seats at the bar, we were warmly greeted by the bartender, who graciously offered us wine to sample before we were seated. Even in the midst of a busy service, she took the time to engage with us and made us feel genuinely welcome. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional and remained so throughout the evening. I came in with high expectations, and the experience exceeded them—this restaurant’s reputation is well deserved. The polenta was perfectly prepared, and if the lasagna is available, I highly recommend ordering it. While Miami offers no shortage of excellent dining options, consistently great service can be difficult to find. This experience stood out in every way. I look forward to returning soon, and my only regret is not discovering Macchialina sooner.

I’ve been dining here for a couple years and love the food and appreciate the expansion! The food is consistently good. Service is usually friendly but not consistent. Bartenders and hostesses are great and welcoming. Nice wine selection however they’re always out of bottles we like. Love the broccolini Caesar with poached egg, caponata, porchetta in gnocco fritto, caccio e pepe (the best I’ve had), cavatelli Macchialina, ravioli, chicken, branzino, and bread pudding. I would give this restaurant a five star however a few weeks ago their manager was very rude after a server spilt a bottle of red wine and had to replace it. She was incredibly apologetic to the table next to us and offered them comps, and kept checking on them and offered to dry clean the woman’s dress, even though she barely had any splatter on her, where my scarf absorbed the majority of the wine as well as my pants and shoes. The manager never checked on us and never offered to dry clean my clothes. Our server even got off shift mid service and never told us. No one came to check on our table, pour wine or ask if we needed anything. That was the worst experience we had there. We’ve been back a few times since that disaster and thankfully the experience was better. This week Jackie was our server and she was AMAZING! We appreciate her attention to detail and for being mindful of my allergies. We loved the four-course tasting. It was absolutely delicious with generous sharing portions and variety of foods and tastes. We love how the chef mixes things up on the menu but keeps some of the restaurant staples as well. Despite the horrible experience we had with that manager, we still come back and always have a nice time.

We made a reservation for 8:30 pm, and were sat down after 9:15 pm. We got no apology or compensation. It’s customary to at least serve something to drink to your guest who are forced to wait for over 45 minutes… After waiting for so long I was already prepared to hate the place, and the tricolor salad (basic lettuce/ cabbage salad) did not help my mood. Everything changed when we got our pasta. The mushroom pasta is one of the best pasta I had in my life. The rest of our dinner was a true joy. With such good food, they only need to improve their service and time management to become a really excellent choice.

Everyone kept talking about this spot so we had to check it out. Went with a few friends and we ordered practically the entire menu Short rib Lasagna was 🔥 the pastas were all cooked very well but all the food needed more seasoning. More "love" the rustic Italian presentations only work (in my opinion) if the flavors and textures are home runs. The brochollini ceaser was a cool idea but too bitter needed more lemon or cheese The burrata with the prosciutto was great, classic prep nothing special The Sullivan street bread was served cold....... The gnocco fritto was good texture but lacking salt The cavatelli was phenomenal. And the meatballs were proper. Another classic dish The cacio pepe wasn't bad but wasn't excited really lol The veal milinaise was burnt and tasted as such The desserts were all pretty sad .... nothing memorable there..... 6.5/10

Macchialina is a gem in Miami for Italian food lovers. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—the staff was attentive, friendly, and truly enhanced the experience. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant atmosphere, perfect for a special dinner or a relaxed night out. The food was simply delicious—every dish we ordered was flavorful and perfectly prepared. One of the biggest highlights is that the menu changes constantly, which makes it even more special since there’s always something new to try. However, there were a couple of things I didn’t love. They charge an extra fee for paying with a credit card, which not all restaurants do, and I personally don’t find ideal. Also, they don’t use plastic straws—a positive for many, but I prefer them. Despite these small drawbacks, the experience at Macchialina was excellent, and I would definitely return for the amazing food and top-notch service. Highly recommended!

A great restaurant for date night or family dinner. Seating is intimate and they have outdoor dining as well. Fine service throughout dinner. I appreciated the restaurant offered smaller portions of entrees which allowed us to try a few different dishes. The food was fresh. We weren’t fans of the texture of the bread pudding. It wasn’t a traditional bread pudding recipe.

Macchialina is a cute place to eat while on Miami Beach. Highly recommend eating in the garden, the atmosphere is wonderful and a super cool concept. Our servers were attentive and kind. We had the chef's menu which is a ton of food and varies in dishes. Only complaint is that our main pasta dishes came out a bit cold. Other than that, we enjoyed dinner here.

Spectacular weather with delicious food on Sunday. If you decide to try this restaurant Do not miss the polenta with mushrooms, it was amazing… it’s a 10+ The tuna tartar was ok…… I will say it was a 6 The entrees were a pasta called: Cavatelli Macchialina (meatballs and porchetta) it was yummy and the other one was Bronzino which was simple but yummy too with a special mashed potatoes. Our drinks were Big trouble… it was fresh… kind of sangria tasty: it’s an 8 and Medicina de la madre it was good. As a dessert a great and freshly homemade tiramisu with cappuccinos!! I know… we were really hungry!!! Lol Lovely atmosphere and great service.

Great place for Italian food. Polenta is one of my favorites here, although a tad is too salty, it comes with mushrooms and sausage, very filling. Veal Milanesewas great, and so was buratta, and of course pastas is what they are famous for.

I heard about this place a lot and saw it featured on websites. Therefore, high expectations. We had a reservation, but we waited about 40mins. People in front of us same thing, just they were vocal about it and made a show. However, the staff was apologizing about it, and they even comped our appetizer and dessert. The food? Good! I was expecting better performance from pasta, but it is probably on top in Miami. From the 3 pasta dishes you see in the photos, the Tagliolini ai Funghi was the best. Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe was decent too. I wish Sheep’s Milk Ricotta Ravioli were a bit better because it has great potential. What completely surprised me was the Tiramisu. Probably one of the best I ever had — mind-blowing! The staff is friendly and prompt. All in all, definitely try it out!

P
Phillip Romano

All in all, Macchialina fell ever so slightly short of our expectations. The service was exceptional. Every single one the staff were absolute gems- warm, helpful, and attentive. The atmosphere was nice, but there were a few small details that I felt needed reconsidering. There was a light shining harshly behind our table, and there was a planter in the path of the bathroom door such that when it was opened with too much force the door would clash into the planter. Now for the food. We went with the tasting menu and ordered a few wines by the glass throughout the night. With each glass of wine we ordered, our server went above and beyond, pulling several wines for our consideration and let us taste all of them individually before we chose our favorite. Our sever also made sure that some items we found interesting would make it on the tasting menu lineup. Both, kind gestures that we certainly didn’t expect. The three appetizer dishes were all divine, and we also added an order of the carpaccio to the apps and it was exciting and delicate. In my opinion the three pasta courses were all flawed in their own way. The sauce of our caccio e pepe was a little grainy and thick, the agnolotti shells we got were undercooked/chalky in parts and while yummy, the cavatelli just sort of fell flat and weren’t very exciting. The main course dishes we had were all wonderful, working hard to course correct the direction that the meal was headed with the aforementioned pasta courses. Dessert was a delightful banana pudding, and was a nice cap to our meal. While there were highs and lows to the meal, my partner and I left feeling enamored with the staff, and maybe that the food we had did not quite deliver the value that it should have, given the handsome prices we were charged.

M
Mikhail Gorokhov

Its not bad. But it’s definitely not great. On the good side, the wine list is impressive and has some rare selection. Pasta was very well made and really creamy and cheese, but 20 something dollars for a portion, which could be on the kids menu? Buratta salad also quite good, but the presentation is like someone puked on your plate. However, it’s really overpriced. 4 slim slices of mortadella (barely 10 grams) for 10$? Its almost as price of gold! Gnocchi with shrimps were are disgrace to Italy. They were a combination of a dish that looked bad, and tasted even worse. If you want to charge 30$ for gnocchi - at least put some love and effort into dish presentation? Compared to other reviews, the service was actually nice and attentive.

C
Caitlin Persch

Everything was good. Yes homemade pasta, but not the best I’ve had. Gnocchi was however the perfect texture but the sauce could’ve had more flavor. Cacio y pepe presentation wise was lacking and flavor was as expected. We sat outside, its simple and well spaced out with a nice sun roof. Cute italian spot but not my favorite.

M
Maya kast

We had not successfully evening - we order 2 appetizers one was good burrata and prosciutto with bread very good but cost 36$ all together and Broccolini Cesar that was cooked, serve warm and a little bitter. For main we ordered 2 pasta caco a pepe and very salty, kitchen say this is how it is and we ordered something else. After 20 minutes when it didn’t arrive we asked to cancel. Our server gave us Tiramisu complimentary. Total diner cost 168 for 2 appetizers, one paste and 2 glass of wine. This restaurant tend to be high scale and can not forget dish. Food was tasty but not justified the cost. Service was ok

G
Giuseppe D'Alterio

The restaurant offers good food and wine selection, but be prepared for small portions. The tiramisu was particularly disappointing, presented as a deconstructed dessert with coffee granita, an ice cream base, and served in a jar. Additionally, the pasta was not al dente and was unexpectedly spicy, despite no indication of spice on the menu. A final heads-up: there's an unwelcome 3% surcharge for credit card payments, to pay for their fees or something.

J
Jennifer P

The food was absolutely AMAZING! We ordered the bruschetta with prosciutto di Parma along with several other dishes, and everything was excellent. That said, the service was disappointing. Once we received our entrées, it took a long time before anyone came by to check on us or see if we wanted another round of drinks. After finishing our meals, we waited about 15 minutes before someone finally asked if we wanted dessert. When we declined, it was another 10–15 minutes before we even received the check. After that, we waited another 10 minutes before giving up and walking over to the register ourselves to pay and leave. Overall, the food was outstanding, but the service needs serious improvement. Since gratuity is automatically included, perhaps that explains why the service felt just “okay.”

I was recommended to check this spot out by a friend. They have moved into what appears to be a larger location next door to their old restaurant. The new location is nice, and the food is very good but the kitchen was rather slow. It also appears that they're subsidizing their expansion with a credit card surcharge on customer checks. Just casually passing the fees from their POS on to the consumer. I guess next I dine here, I'll just bring $250 in cash with me.

- Tienen buen servicio.

Could have been good. Service bad Food was ok to good depending on the dish. Went with 2 other people Friday night sat down 830. 850 by the time drink orders were taken - we just ordered everything at once because we could tell they werent on it. Drinks came at 910. First apps came at 925. Server kept coming over and thanking us for our patience 🤨 we’re hostages in this situation. Apps were better than entrees. The crudo dish was great so was the salad. Got the meatball cavatelli which was good until I bit into massive pieces of gristle? I’m not even sure what it was. Manager got involved gave us a dessert and a glass of wine. Appreciate the effort but there’s just too many, specifically Italian restaurants to probably come back for a round 2.

S

Baffling how highly rated this place is. Very average Italian food, everything is over sauced, over buttered, over cheesed. Feels like compensation for poor quality. If you have every eaten proper Italian in New york or Europe you will see that the emperor has no clothes.

C
Clara Delgado Rossell

The food was excellent. However, the service felt EXTREMELY rushed. Ironically, for a restaurant with an ambitious digestif menu, they seem to have forgotten what "dopocena" is all about. We arrived for a 5pm reservation (the restaurant had just opened and was practically empty) and were out the door again shortly after 6pm, so I don't think we can even blame the "dinner rush". The mains came while we were still on the first half of our aperitif cocktails, so two of us didn't even have a chance to enjoy a glass of wine with our meal. Then, our coffees came out well before the dessert, and our check was on the table soon afterward, with one of the wait staff (not sure if a food runner or busser) swiping our dessert before we'd even had a chance to finish it - there was bread budding and ricotta still on the plate! At $100+ per head (mind you, that's with only one glass of wine), it felt very insulting. I have been to Macchialina twice before and loved it, but this was truly a disappointing downturn. The excellent food notwithstanding, I will hesitate to return.

A
Adrian Martinez

The food and atmosphere were actually good, but the main dishes felt like a complete scam. When the plates arrived, they were almost empty tiny portions that definitely don’t match the price. It’s honestly embarrassing for a restaurant to serve “main dishes” that look more like samples. I left feeling hungry and robbed

A
Agustin Daniel Barrionuevo

I live two blocks away and would honestly love to be a regular here, but service keeps ruining the experience. We sat at the bar and from minute one you could feel the pressure to turn the seats. When I ordered spaghetti aglio e olio, the bartender (María) criticized my choice for being “too simple” and kept pushing the $75 lobster ravioli. It wasn’t about the money — it was the constant pressure and second-guessing of our decisions. Later, when I asked for bread for the pasta, she replied, “we’ll see, because the carpaccio you ordered already has bread.” The food was good, nothing more — about a 6/10. Also, $10 for four very small slices of parmigiano felt excessive. I live nearby and could easily come 3–4 times a week, but every visit feels rushed and tense instead of relaxed and welcoming.

J
J

Terrible. Ordered our food, went to the restroom and was surprised to see the food had already arrived when I got to my table. Also they “ran out” of bread. This was all of 4 minutes at most. Chaotic atmosphere, everyone’s in a rush, and the veal milanese was soggy and tough. Very expensive for what it was. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

M
Michael Jakob

Bad from A-Z ! Went in with high expectations having heard only good things about this place. Left deeply, like deeply unsatisfied. Staff was inattentive and inhospitable … we almost had to beg to put in an Aperitife order in! Sommelier or manager (not sure who she was other than arrogant ), told us to just tell her what we want because she doesn’t have time for us to taste everything and did not want to open too many bottles to taste. Wine was warm. Did the tasting menu and waited way too long between each course. Pasta came out cold and we only received half the milanesa (someone approached the table with the other half but then turned around). So overall an overpriced, subpar experience … and I could not in good conscience recommend anyone to go there!

Luis Felipe De Souza

I went to Macchiolina in Miami Beach last Friday and felt completely rushed. The staff came over several times asking if we were ready to order before we’d even finished our drinks and appetizers. Once we ordered, the attention disappeared. Then came the bill — a 20% tip automatically added and a 3.5% credit card fee that was never mentioned. For rushed service and hidden charges, 20% feels excessive. I’ve never experienced anything like this in Miami. Definitely won’t be returning.

I made a reservation on Monday to celebrate my wife’s birthday with her mother, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. My mother-in-law ordered an espresso martini that was poorly made and undrinkable. Her seafood pasta also arrived heavily covered in parsley or cilantro, which completely overpowered the dish and made it inedible. While the server apologized, the way the situation was handled felt unprofessional. At one point, she knelt beside the table, rested her head on the table with her hands under her chin, and spoke to us in a way that felt overly casual for a restaurant setting. The most disappointing part was that the reservation was clearly made for my wife’s birthday, yet the restaurant never acknowledged it. When leaving, I spoke with the general manager, who confirmed they missed the birthday note and said she would email me the next day, invite us back, and issue a refund. It has now been two days, and I have not received any follow-up. This was meant to be a special evening, but it ended up being a very disappointing experience. Places like this don't care about people.
