Matryoshka Deli is praised for its delicious and fresh Russian food, especially the variety of salads, stews, and fish. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and the option to buy groceries. It's a good spot for lunch or dinner, though some find it not very economical.
Tip: Good place to find lunch or dinner with a variety of Russian food like salads, stews and fish.
Wow.... Beautiful and clean Deli. Pictures speaks wonders. After a nice walk on the beach is nothing like a fresh breakfast made right in front of you. High quality food and service. Lots of parking. Congratulations to the owners for the excellence and presentation.
Update: They got rid of that guy, and everything is even better than it was before. I honestly feel bad giving only 2 stars, because I genuinely love coming here - I always enjoy the food and I love buying all the amazing products from the CIS. This has always been one of my favorite places. But today I had an absolutely terrible experience, something I haven’t encountered in almost 20 years, not since before I lived in the U.S. The young man who was making the blinchiki today was extremely rude. Not only did he speak disrespectfully, but he even insulted the sauce I chose - saying it was “bad” - and he himself suggested replacing it when I ordered a salmon blinchik. In the end, he gave me a blinchik with chicken, which I absolutely do not eat. When I asked him to replace it with salmon (the one I ordered), he suddenly demanded a receipt, even though I had literally just ordered it from him. He never gave me a receipt in the first place, and his tone was very dismissive and unprofessional. I eventually had to ask for a manager. I told him I would be leaving a review, and he said, “I don’t care, I won’t be here next week anyway.” This is incredibly disappointing, because I truly love this place - but what happened today was unacceptable.
Matryoshka is an absolute gem! As someone who isn't Russian, I find this store so exciting—it’s like a mini-vacation every time I visit. It’s the perfect place to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Today I picked up a grape soda that was delicious, and the prepared food is consistently amazing. I also have to mention the friendly atmosphere; the last time I was there, a regular customer in line ahead of me told me I had to try the red caviar, and he was absolutely right! If you’re looking for high-quality food and a chance to discover your new favorite snack, check this place out. 5 stars!"
Delicious, freshly made crepes with salmon and spinach (there are options available), plus friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Great selection and the prices are reasonable. The buffet has a large variety to choose from, salads, hot and cold items. Lots of fresh pastries, amazing cakes. We always get the Napolitan cake (delish). Made tomorder crepe station, pastries, coffee. If you are looking for variety, quality and quantity, this place has it all. Would I come back? Absolutely! And I do several times a year. Would more often if I lived closer.
Solid spot for Eastern European food in Miami. Great selection of familiar products like Roshen wafers, canned goods, and snacks. The food is definitely 5star quality fresh, authentic, and hits the nostalgic spot. The service was okay, not rude but could be a bit more friendly or engaging. Atmosphere is clean and organized, nothing fancy but feels like home. Will come back for sure.
Always fresh and delicious. Various of selection. Service is excellent. Cheese pancakes were awesome. The pilov taste is good but rice wasn’t cook well but still edible:)
Fantastic selection of Eastern European food. Unbelievable selection of cured meats, packaged & jarred food, prepared meals to go, huge buffet by the pound. Fruit, vegetables, dairy, sweets all to take home. It was worth it for me to travel from Miami Lakesm on a hot Saturday! I now have a huge supply of stuff in my freezer! I will definitely be back. Very helpful staff!
I find this place very pleasant, it is a welcoming family-run place, its products are delicious, its food is served in a varied and fresh buffet with exquisite Russian recipes, its selection of jams is unbeatable.
My friend and I went to try something . This place is aweso.e good atmosphere. We sat outside and had tea and a dessert it was delicious now I am trying to remember 🤔 the name of this 😋 cake but is not in the picture of your menu it comes with sour cream and some blueberry type like jam on the side. 5 stars from me 🤩
Huge Thanks for Cristina ! Called from Los Angeles asking recommend and prepare the best cake for our cousin to be ready for next day. Super patient and professional knowledgeable! Great place for fresh European deli .
Excellent customer service and atmosphere provide by Hanna .Tnks from Canada
Artem gave us a great experience! His food is amazing
Borch very delicious Chicken barbecue good A lot food and bakery Recommend
We are out of town and wanted something quick and delicious. We found this place online. It was perfectly on the way to the beach. Love, love, love this place. Very clean, amazing variety of food, great prices and buffet style food you can take with you. We had a delicious lunch. The only down side was not enough of the sitting area outside. Other than that no complains. We loved it so much we stopped by on the way back. They even changed some of the food for the evening. Gave us so many more options. We had a great dinner and even took more to the hotel with us. I wish we have a place light that in NC. Thank you so much to the owner and awesome employees. By the way thank you so so much for refilling everything so quick. We will definitely be back for our next vacation.
I want to say a huge thank you to the manager Ilya for his attentive attitude towards the store customers. My story happened a few days ago: I bought groceries, and then called a taxi to the airport. When the taxi driver arrived early, I had to hurry and in my haste, I forgot my bag with documents and credit cards. Thank you to the entire team, and especially to Ilya, once again, for the caring attitude towards their customers. Definitely I will come back to our store next time.
Guys, you are the best! Everything is always fresh and tasty! The staff is friendly, polite and responsive! Tanya is especially attentive, kind, cheerful and energetic, she has an individual approach to each customer, attention to every detail, she is ready to help at any moment! Alexey will also always help you carry heavy packages to the car. Thank you so so much guys! We love you! We wish you great health, happiness and good customers!!!
удивительный!!!!! this grocery store has everything you might want to have a Russian feast. the deli section is so big! so many options of delicious dishes. huge cake selection and caviar!
Great homemade food. We loved all the baked goods, soups, salads, cutlets. Saved me time so I don't have to cook while being on vacation. We will be back when visiting Miami area.
I absolutely love this store. It is the best Russian store in sunny isles beach. I have tried many other stores that sell Russian food, but none of them are as good as this one. The deli section has amazing meats and cheeses, they even have caviar! I was so happy when I found this store because now I can always find all the ingredients I need to make my family's favorite recipes. The staff is super friendly too, they are always willing to give me great recipes or cooking tips
Matryoshka is an excellent store. The food is always fresh and tasty. The variety of Russian products are phenomenal. The bar man, Ilya is an excellent asset to the store. He is always very polite, friendly and willing to help. When I visit the store I always stop by Ilya because of how great he is.
If you love european food this is definitely for you. This is my go to place for lunch it's delicious. Love the atmosphere and the staff.
Nice grocery store for russian and other european products. Also has european style backery. In addition, it does have a section for fresh veggies and fruits. Price is better than other similar stores in the area. It has also a deli and cooked food but I have not tried them, other people were buying there these cooked food and looked familiar with buying from there.
Delicious food ( buffet),salads, plov, pancake cooked for you Very nice store😋
Very good store, excellent service, wide range of products that Slavs love.
Very nice Buffet, also take out available, highly recommended!
Big store with buffet and very nicely organized. Enjoyed my time
Good News on Sunny If you want tasty, fresh, delicious shawarma 🌯 that cooks in front of your eyes go to Matryoshka store. Also they have breakfasts and pancakes. The best match of price and quality. Good Service,Recommend
Very nice store, big product selection, helpful staff, always ready to help. Bakery and buffet are so tasty. Will come back to this store. Recommending👍
Delicious prepared food Very tasty all pastries 🥐
A restaurant with outdoor seating including for people who buy ready to eat buffet at their delicatessen next door. The buffet was rich in choices but poor in written names and nonexistent in descriptions. But while there’s room for improvement the truth is that it demonstrates that this is one of those precious places that is authentic with a capital “A”! So we ate at the restaurant outside with our 2 dogs and we loved it. I had the beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes and it was just like my mother used to make. We also had the pelmini (small Russian dumplings) which they called “Siberian style”. The delicatessen/ grocery store was AMAZING. I wanted to buy one of each dessert and candy but my car was too small to fit them all in, lol. Cheeses and butters from everywhere, salamis dark breads, oh my. I’m getting hungry again and I just finished. Another great restaurant and bakery (Armenian) called Ararat is right next door. Listen to the conversations in this strip center and you’ll forget you’re in the States, I love it.
We had a very nice experience in this store. Sales people were very helpful and the food they recommended was very tasty.
Very nice food market. Great selection of European products, fresh buffet, pancakes, shawarma, fresh juice and many more. Good service and atmosphere. Love this place, will be back 100%.
Matryoshka is without a doubt one of the best Russian épiceries and delicatessens in Miami. The selection of imported products is truly impressive, making it worth a visit even just to browse. A special highlight is their large variety of smoked fish and herring, which stands out for both quality and choice. A must for lovers of authentic Russian flavors.
Best store Delicious food, lots of different salads, bakery. I like that they have so many choices in Deli, and gave me anything I wanted to try, so I could buy the one I like most.
It’s a Russian grocery store. So a lot food can seems to be weird for an American. But for me It’s like coming back home to mom. If you need to cook Borsht, to buy pelmeni , caviar or anything else from Russian cuisine- this is the place to go. They have a lot of Bakery, pastries, candies. 20-30 kids of ham and sausages Produce department and ready to eat section.
Amazing amounts of food in a nice size STORE ! . They even have some tables where you can have a outstanding fresh home made meals ! Highly recommended this store for anyone who is looking for great high quality meals !
Very pleased with the variety of products there!! So much to choose from! While shopping you can get the fresh hot made shawarma in front of you or stuffed crepes. Both really tasty, the fillings are amazing, and the lady who makes it does it really well. The prices are corresponding with the quality of products. You cannot get great quality products from overseas for Walmart prices honestly not surprised at all, to me its cheap.. Great store i shop here every week.
Found a gem. Their shawarma was incredible - we got everything on it. Also their lamb was super yum. Had interesting pastries and desserts. Was reasonably priced and seemed authentic.
Cholponai did the best juicy shawarma! Always fresh ingredients and well seasoned. She’s very polite and sweet . My new obsession lately is crepes filled with salmon and spinach, y’all need to try it ASAP
💛✨👌what an incredible place! Their buffet is simply amazing — everything is so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere feels cozy and almost fairy-tale-like, full of little lights and warm details, like something from The Nine😁 The eggplant, the salads, and especially the fish cutlet — all absolutely delicious. You can really taste the care and freshness in every dish. The tables are comfortable and welcoming, so it feels like sitting in a charming restaurant rather than a deli. Thank you so much to the team — you’ve created such a beautiful and heart-warming space ✨
Just recently was there and saw that they set up a whole new breakfast station, and cooking everything right in front of your eyes! There 3 different kinds of scramble eggs, sunny side ups, freshly baked crepes with multiple fillings, a whole shawarma/doner station, freshly squeezed juices! Delicious! Loved it! Definitely recommend! 👌
I bought borsch today on Sunday . It's weird taste. No beets inside couple of carrots . Taste is absolutely has anything to do with Russian bortsch. May be a kind of soup but not borsch. I don't know whom they are trying to trick. Where they got person who made it it's a shame . The worst soup I ever tried . Never again I would like to add . After I complained on this product that time the owner of the store contacted me and returned my money for purchase. I was impressed. The owner is really taking care of the reputation of the store. May it was incident or my friends for whom I bought soup were too demanding . So anyway this is a very good store with variety of Russian products. Very clean . The staff is polite and helpful
An excellent store with amazing cuisine and a great variety of delicious dishes — everything is fresh. The location is perfect, right in the center of Sunny Isles, close to the ocean and within walking distance of everything. They also have the most delicious shawarma on the coastline.
We always go back, every time we are on holiday in Florida. It s a fantastic experience, not only to the eyes but also to the smell of spiced food and crepes! Always delicious options to choose from. Nice and helpful service also.
Adriana,
It's a European market. The place is very nice and clean inside. It is a place worth checking out. It has interesting things to try. I like discovering new places and trying new things and so I liked the place. It has an area with fresh produce and at a good price. I also saw a good variety of chocolates. I was surprised to see the food station. It is a good size. With a good variety of hot foods. It is buffet-style. I saw a large assortment of teas and cheese. I was not here long. The market has plenty of parking all around. It is located in a strip mall. It is easy to spot from far.
This food market is a nice find. They have a self-serve section with ready-to-eat food, and you pay by weight. Prices are fair, and there are tables outside if you want to eat there. The market itself has a good selection of items from different countries, especially Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
It is a food buffet in a store, not much to talk about atmosphere. The selection is not bad, especially if you are interested in Russian cuisine. It is a dollar more expensive per pound than in Whole Foods.
I love your store very much, a very good selection of products, everything is always very tasty and fresh food. Nice and friendly staff, but today an unpleasant situation happened. The lady couldn’t give me any information on your cakes and pastries, and was giving me a bad attitude. Come to find out that she is also the manager in that store… No customer service and no respect to the people older than her. Never could imagine this happening to me in this store. I bought cake at nearby store.
Quality of the selection is good but prices are higher than most of the others
For me it’s the best market with Eastern European delights. Great choice of everything, fells like home. Tasty and fresh food, chicken Kiev and olivier salad 10/10.
The food was satisfactory, but the plov did not reflect traditional Uzbek style and was dry. The salads, however, were exceptional and had an authentic taste. The cakes were also excellent. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking. The cashier appeared upset and was unable to accommodate our request to use two cards for the payment, resulting in us having to use only one card..
Pretty good store, but the food could be better Matryoshka is a nice store overall. They have a good selection of European products, and it’s great to find familiar things you don’t usually see in regular supermarkets. The staff is friendly and helpful too. The only thing I didn’t really enjoy was the food at the bar. I tried a few dishes, and while everything was okay, nothing really stood out. It just didn’t have much flavor. If you're looking for European groceries, this is a solid place. Just don’t expect too much from the hot food.
Stopped by the location at a whim. Looked around and saw some great food in the buffet section (they have to serve you). Reasonably priced. No problems there. Food was good too. Only reason why it gets a three star is the service. It’s probably due to a language barrier between the workers and me. They are from an Eastern Europe country and I don’t speak their language. Another patron was so upset with the service that she eventually left not knowing from whom to order from. I was able to get my food only after careful persistence towards a deli worker. I’m a patient man but many others are not. Just get some good workers with some great customer service and no language barriers and they will be a five star.
It's a Russian grocery store. The ladies who worked there were nice. But in such a small place to have so many things... Hard to find anything. The choice of cakes is not as I'm used to see in other states. Compare to other stores in different states I would give it 3*.
Russian food selections are sufficient for the neighborhood and quick buys. Buffet or prefixed food is much better across the parking lot, especially when sampling the same soups and breads. Appreciate having this place right across the street but I would pass on eating there or takeaways.
You can shop here if you want the most expensive but decent Eastern European food experience. And please finish your shopping at 9:55pm (They close at 10pm) or else you’ll be treated like a trespasser for the remaining 5 minutes.
Used to be a nice place to get good food and eat at a table outside and relax with a cigarette and a beer. Now it's non smoking outside?! Not worth it for these new prices. We spent over 100$ for 2 and were told no smoking while people next table brought their own hard liquor and were obnoxious. That's somehow is ok? But 2 cigarettes with 2 beers isn't. Sad. Not coming back.
It's not like it used to be, the food is still good, made by Ukrainian refugees (like me!) Wonderful ladies. It's the staff on the cash registers that are very snobby. I moved here 30+ years ago, and they act like they can't understand me when I speak fluent Russian, and when they barely speak English theyre gonna judge me and be rude. What other store do you go in where the cashier can't even look at you because they are on their phone. Skip the produce, it's over priced, publix is a block over. They don't clean the tables outside, and lots of birds come to eat people's left overs. They have lots of selection, so if you go in not expecting to go for the experience and you're in and out you should be fine. The ladies that make the food are so nice even though they literally just came from a horrible war zone and these kids at the front on the registers are pretty rude for no reason. We did meet a very nice man from the marina that was just having a sit at the table next to us, I offered him a plate of food i had bought for my son, that he didn't even touch and he declined. He is a vet and had his leg shot through in the war, and he showed my son and we told my son it was because he didn't use his car seat when he was little. Now my son doesn't fight me when I put him in his car seat. That guy deserves all the stars! And the Ukrainian cooks!
The choice is certainly not bad. But the prices among similar stores located nearby are very biting ... I don't think I would like to go back...
The staff was very nice, however seemed a little surprised to see a bunch of American White Girls in their market. We ordered as much of the “local” options as possible. The desserts were divine, I found the pastry’s with meat and cheese to be extremely greasy but that’s not to say they’re not supposed to be that way. I’m a huge fan of truly ethnic options so this place is awesome if you’re looking for Russian Market options.
Unfortunately, found a loaf of bread with multiple spots of mold. Dear customers, please, check food’s expiration dates (best before dates) and the state of the package. This bread was OK date-vise. Minus one star. Also I find the pricing policy of the store little bit too high. Minus another star. Thanks a lot, hopefully was helpful!
Pre-made food is disgusting. it smells like it's been sitting on the counter for a week, everything that could be dilute with water is diluted as much as possible, so mashed potatoes and every sauce looks literally soup. Not fresh. They definitely need to get checked for a food safety. Anyway. People who works there are super nice and friendly.
New to Miami so was excited to pick up some comfort foods that remind me of Poland, I asked the staff at deliif they have kielbasa, they had only v dry one, don't expect them to crack a smile or try to be helpful, very dry in answers, no different cashier. It almost felt like she was doing me a favor. So it's not a store I'll go back to, tried euro deli and they were much nicer. Surprised bc I always try to support small businesses and there is definitely more than one place in short distance. So they just that quickly lost at least 100$ a week.
I never ever felt as disappointed as a customer until I walk at this store. Service is awful…. We waited at the bakery counter for Service, and the lady came and told us to hurry up because she’s going to clos ( which, according to their schedule was another 25 minutes ) we decide to not get anything since they were closing, customer who came after us she knew him she start talking to him and start serving him. Not one time she told him they were close or they are about to close. We told the guy at the register, and he didn’t even understand English, he never offered to call the manager or anybody. I will never go back there to spend my money if they are not gonna serve me. Customers like me are the one who is keeping your store going, you need to serve them.
we bought ready-made food, the soups were stale, sour, the pancakes with meat were spoiled, we returned them to the cashier. I did not receive an apology, much less a refund
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food quality was poor, leading to a day of discomfort. Additionally, I found the staff's behavior to be discriminatory; they were noticeably friendlier to those dressed in high-end attire. Moreover, the constant surveillance made me feel unwelcome and suspected of theft, despite having no such intentions. Overall, I had a negative experience and cannot recommend this establishment. -10/10
I'm extremely disappointed with my experiences at Matryoshka Deli Food On two separate visits, I encountered cashiers Oksana and Ksenia, who displayed unacceptable attitudes towards customers. They spoke to me in a condescending manner, making me feel disrespected and unvalued. The final straw was when I attempted to take advantage of the advertised discount on buffet food after 8 pm. Instead of being treated with courtesy, I was made to feel like a criminal. The cashiers' behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. I also had a difficult time getting assistance from the staff, including Oksana, who seemed put off when I asked for help with purchasing Perogi and sweets. Her reluctance and attitude made me feel like I was an inconvenience. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and kindness. Unfortunately, this store failed to meet my expectations. I will not be returning and will share my disappointing experience with friends and family. I hope the management takes necessary steps to improve the customer service and create a more welcoming atmosphere.
Over expensive for no reason, same products as you can buy in other stores doubly expensive in this store. But main disappointment is their hot food and salad selection. It’s not fresh, I bought some food and didn’t have it same say and the next day it was already spoiled.
Cold cuts department sales people are strange. No rush, no attention. Two people fixing caviar boxes wile customers waiting for their attention. Asked quarter pound of cold thin cuts, got half pound thick cut instead. Price per pound about $35. This an adding to my previous review. Bough veal tongue in deli department and glass can of mushrooms. Got poisoned and so sick to the point have to see the doctor, who confirmed it. Will take them to the lab to confirm. Will see what comes out this case.
Ive been a client to this store for couple years now. Also ive been reading the reviews lately that some people has found expired product on it. And now it happened to me also. I bought something at the store took a bite and it tasted weird. I checked it and its rotten. The picture is attached for everyone to see. I dont know if management changed or what is it. But its not anymore a coincidence the times people has found expired product. Just watch what are you gonna buy if you come here. Sad to see what happened to this store.
I’m honestly shocked… You’d have to try hard to find food this bad, and I won’t even try to sugarcoat it. We picked up quite a lot of prepared food from the buffet (it looked decent) for several people. The result: no one could eat any of it. Everything tasted off — not just bad, but literally inedible. And the worst part is that the kids asked us to try the mashed potatoes because “something was wrong with it.” We were stunned to discover that it was unbearably sour — like spoiled kefir! So they’re basically selling rotten food. This is outrageous. If we hadn’t thrown everything straight into the trash, who knows what could have happened. There was also clear deception in the store: on the sealed salad package, the “packaged on” date was a date that hasn’t even come yet — it was for tomorrow. They apparently “packaged” it in the future.
