South Beach Cafe Miami Reviews
An amazing experience to have whenever you want to go to the beach and enjoy some drinks and food! The staff is so so friendly and kind and the food and drinks are amazing, at a reasonable/affordable price. The vibe inside is welcoming and cozy, very nice to enjoy with partner/friends/family. Clean toilets, tables, everything clean and nice. The menu has breakfast, lunch and brunch, with lots of drinks❤️ Will definitely come here again, especially on sunny days like today☺️
I’ve been here a few times now and I have been impressed with the polite and prompt service every time, as well as the quality of the food served. I do wish they would pay a little more attention to cleaning the tables and restocking cutlery in between customers when it’s busy, but they are always willing to sort if pointed out. They are good with allergy information and happy to adjust dishes as needed. I especially enjoyed my pistachio latte this morning.
Exceptional service, kind and warm welcome stuff, great SouthSea beach view !!
We had coffee and lunch. Both options were delicious. Wonderful views, warm and cosy.
Christmas Eve went there sunny day but cold wind blowing, warm inside with the log burner stove doings it's thing. I had the soup of day which was far better than any soup I had in the previous week on a cruise ship. Interesting the adjacent sea defence work that has been ongoing.
Came here for breakfast it was perfect! We had the vegetarian and vegan breakfast although it was a bit pricey for a vegetarian breakfast it was faultless and delicious! Lovely atmosphere and lovely people, nothing was too much of an ask. Thank you ☺️
What a lovely place nice view and the food was excellent and the butter was lovely
Such a lovely cafe, right on the beach and serves the most delicious breakfast I have had in Portsmouth!😊
Open throughout the year, perfect location on the beach and food and coffee lovely. One half is dog-friendly. Large wood burners adds to the atmosphere (and warmth). Good selection of breakfasts.
We came for the outdoor sauna but had some food first, amazing location, french toast with bacon was so tasty. The sauna itself is nice and hot and the sauna hats are a great touch! Would definitely recommend :) On another visit: 10/10 chicken sandwich!
Popped in for breakfast afterca dog walk on the common. Great food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, what's not to love. Outdoor seating is comfortable and sheltered from the wind and perfect for a summer sitdown with the dog.
Just the best place to have lunch on a sunny Sunday after walking the prom. Well done the team and the “Captain” for taking great care of us again.. we appreciated it was busy.. but you took the time to work a table solution.. most places wouldn’t.. so thank you. See you again one day.. R&M
Good food. Excellent post parkrun.
Lovely food, very well presented. Great staff who were very helpful as one of our party has a lot of allergies so has to be careful. Feels like a temporary structure so in the wind it was very noisy. Didn't detract though, really great place. Will go back.
Fantastic place to eat. Staff are very good and ambience, looking out over the see is beautiful
Yum. Attending the parkrun this place is on the course, it looked busy so we went back post run. The food was excellent, a really good atmosphere, fantastic location. Lola looked after us she was brilliant, polite, efficient. 2 breakfast baps, coffees and a side £25 including tip. Highly recommended.
The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Super accommodating and nice staff, exceptional food quality. Flaky fish, crispy and soft inside chips and very tasty pea shot purée + home made tartare. You’d think the dessert is where they’d slip up seeing how the mains were so good... wrong - see exhibit b :)
Delicious food and lovely views across the Solent! Came with a friend and we both have various food allergies (gluten, lactose, etc.) and staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Menu has good variety available and there are different menus for breakfast and lunch. I had gluten free fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce (pictured), priced at £13.50 (I think) and was very tasty! Fully wheelchair accessible, plus toilets + an accessible toilet with baby change facilities.
A lovely spot on the beach but nicely sheltered from the wind. It was busy but we can't fault the friendly service. The food was delicious (fish cakes, Caesar salad and lemon tart) and reasonable value for money. We were surrounded by well behaved dogs/owners. All in all a good experience.
Came for lunch. Had the crab linguine, really really nice. Prices are sensible but slightly on the higher side, however you do get what you pay for, the quality it's excellent. Lovely views right on the seafront. Would come again.
I had heard about little beach cafe on various sites and friends. We travelled for just over an hour to come and eat here. We managed to park with in a 5 min walk of the Beach Cafe. Upon entering we were greeted by a well mannered young lady who advised she would be with us shortly. With in two mins we had been shown our table and were given menus and a complimentary jug of water and glasses for the three of us. We were not disappointed with the food it was amazing and worth the travel and cost. I would highly recommend this beach cafe to any one passing bye or looking to travel to eat some good locally cooked food. My only gripe and it is minor, not enough staff on a Sunday morning to serve customer’s and they took their time to take our money after we had eaten. We will be back as it was amazing well cooked food, my compliments to the chief
A warm welcome awaits, literally from the roaring fire as well as the staff! A perfect place to warm up, enjoy delicious food after enjoying some fresh sea air AND the best bit is you can take the pooch in too!! A water carafe is brought to your table along with a bowl for your dog too! Service was fast and friendly, food was delicious and although it doesn't break the bank, it is a tiny bit more expensive than some of the other cafes; but hey they don't have the fabulous view of the sea, so for me worth every penny. Advisable to book in high season or weekends as it's very popular with locals. Booking is easy in advance on their website. Enjoy! We certainly did!
Lovely place, very sunny and cozy. And it has amazing sea view. Absolute gem! We did not have a reservation, but they manage to find nice table in 5 min. Had a nice breakfast. My breakfast was quite heavy though, too much salmon and had fried base underneath. And not many vegan options, my friend is vegan and she end up eating just a toast with jam. Would be good to update their menu.
Visited for breakfast on my birthday, managed to get a table outside on a glorious sunny Sunday morning. My order was coffee and the french toast - pan-fried buttery brioche dipped in egg, espresso mascarpone, toasted almonds, rhubarb compote & maple syrup. I also opted for optional extra of dry cured Smith's bacon. I am salivating again just writing that - it was cooked to perfection and every mouthful was an absolute delight. Well done kitchen team! My dining companion had the avocado toast and was equally glowing about their meal also. Atmosphere was very chilled out and everything a beach side cafe should be. I will be returning.
A local Southsea favourite, their take away chips are incredible, only wish they bought back their thick milkshakes. Great view too.
Southsea Beach Cafe is one of those rare spots where the setting is just as memorable as the food. Located right on the seafront, it offers stunning panoramic views of the beach and the water, making it a perfect choice for a sunny day or even a cosy visit when the weather turns. The interior has a relaxed coastal style with plenty of light and space, while outside seating lets you enjoy the sea breeze. The menu focuses on fresh and seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on quality over quantity. I started with smashed avocado on sourdough topped with poached eggs, which was colourful, fresh and full of flavour. The seafood chowder was another highlight, creamy and hearty with plenty of prawns, mussels and fish. My companion had the beer battered haddock with chunky chips and minted mushy peas, all cooked to perfection. For dessert, the lemon tart was bright and zesty with a buttery base that melted in the mouth. Service was friendly and relaxed, matching the laid back atmosphere of the location. Prices are fair considering the quality and the unbeatable view. This is a place that works equally well for a lazy breakfast, a light lunch or a sunset dinner, and it is somewhere I would happily return to time and again.
Waitress/host attitude poor, the table Waitress was great knowledgeable and advised on our choice of food, The reason i give 4star on food, becouse fryer was broken, we been served soggy chips first time, when we ask for second serving we have been told they are not able to cook them. Could be informed in first serving. Its not big issue just communication! And pork tomahawk was 5oz size i left hungry after that!
This is a lovely place, right on the seafront so you can watch all the marine traffic and people and their dogs on the beach, and enjoy a drink while the kitchen prepares your tasty dish of choice. It's been a while since I was able to call in for breakfast but I can still remember their classy twist on eggs Benedict (with ham hock, rather than packet ham or bacon) and just writing about it makes me want to go back and have it again! The last couple of times I've been were at lunchtime, and my wife and I enjoyed some decent wine along with a burger and a doorstep chicken sandwich, both of which were excellent. Unsurprisingly, they can get pretty busy, so booking is probably sensible for peak times, and you should probably allow yourself enough time not to fret about how long your food is taking - it's always been worth the wait, in my experience. They have a takeaway counter that seems very popular, offering hot & cold drinks and ice cream for both humans and dogs! An excellent policy they have is that anyone can borrow a little bucket to collect litter as they walk along the beach and then swap it for a free hot drink when they get back (kids can swap theirs for free ice cream!).
Love love love this place! Our favourite each time we head down to Portsmouth and Southsea. Fantastic selection of food and drinks, located right on the beach. Beautiful setting for a fresh autumn day, the log fire burning and blankets available for you to use. Looking forward to our next visit!
Southsea Beach is beautiful and there’s always plenty to do. On a hot sunny day there’s always room to move - nothing like somewhere like Brighton. The coffee shop is great, it’s only a short walk to somewhere like the pier or the shops, there are parks to walk the dog and just down the road is eastney where you can walk them on the beach. Lovely day out for all! Edit: went in for food this time and booked in advance. Service was amazing - lovely waitress who checked in regularly and looked after us. Food was excellent and of a higher standard than I expected. Not just a cafe - also a great restaurant! Really tasty and lots of room. Dogs allowed and very friendly.
Wonderful experience! I went for a sea swim then used the sauna. Our host Zak was very accommodating with setting up the sauna and squeezing us in for breakfast on a busy Sunday. The food was also great. Thank you!
Dog friendly! A beautiful place for lunch, right on the beach, it was lovely watching the sea. We were sat quickly and given water and menus. Lots of choices for food, and a mix of alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks to choose from. We had a pilsner and an Atlantic ale but there was also cider, cocktails, spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks. We had the watermelon/Feta and mint salad and the peach/hazelnut and goats cheese salad with a side of buttered new potatoes. Everything was really tasty and we loved trying these flavour combinations that were completely new to us! The atmosphere was relaxed and the music was great, the service was friendly and efficient. We had a rhubarb trifle and coffee for pud and that was also very delicious! Bear was given a bowl of water. We would definitely come again and recommend to others!
Great tasting food and drinks served my friendly staff. Running a late due to young children the restaurant called us to check if we still needed a table and I let them know we'd probably be an hour. They were super understanding and reserved a table for an hour's time instead. Upon arrival they were still very warm and welcoming. I ordered the chickpea fritters which was bursting with flavour, I would recommend this dish especially if your vegetarian. My wife requested a decaff iced latte and loved it so much she ordered a second. I was recommended this restaurant due to the ice cream and it didn't disappoint. I got 2 scoops salted caramel and mint choc chip and both were delicious. Wherever you sit you should be able to get a view of the beach and possibly the pier. I would definitely go back here a must if you're in Portsmouth.
The young man who served us was very polite and friendly I didn't get his name sadly ( blond hair) he made sure we had everything we wanted, the wild mushroom on toast from the brunch menu were the best I've ever had! Will definitely return 😋
Just the place for a lovely Brunch! Every time we come over, the place is always packed, which kinda speaks for itself! It’s a very popular place to eat! The customer service, most of the time is very good! Of course there are times where it’s hit or miss, but there’s no such thing as perfect! One thing that is pretty much perfect, is their food! I could not fault the food they serve! It’s wholesome, filling and tasty! I’ve been here so many times, I can happily recommend this place to anyone who’s in and around the area!!! It will not disappoint, I’m sure!!!
Title: Beachside Bliss at Southsea Beach Cafe! Rating: ★★★★★ Review: Southsea Beach Cafe is a hidden gem! The food is delicious, especially breakfast. Staff are friendly, and the beachfront location is unbeatable. Perfect for a chill hangout with great views. Pet friendly too. Highly recommend! 🌊🍽️
Visited for a coffee and cake and it didn't disappoint. We were seated in the 'snack area' outside looking into the beach. Great coffee, lovely cakes (highly recommended the carrot cake) and very nice views! Reasonably priced and staff very friendly. Would return and definitely recommend.
The Southsea Beach Cafe is the best cafe that I have been to. Situated on the beach itself, it is a perfect place to visit after a walk along the beach. The cafe offers a great food menu, including breakfast and lunch. It is also dog friendly. The service was excellent and friendly. It's possible to book a table during weekdays only. At the weekends, it's walk-in only.
Warm friendly welcome stunning views out to sea Staff are friendly and helpful, the food is very good, a good selection to suit all tastes and fairly priced too. Nice selection on drinks menu too if just wanting to go out for a few drinks weather it be couple of beers wine or cocktails.
A cafe that is lovely to visit and eat in. The cafe area is glass windows so you can look out at the beach and sea. The food was fresh and hot. I had fish and chips (my fave) and the fish was delicious. The batter was lovely and crisp. Well worth the visit
Ambas opciones estaban deliciosas. Vistas maravillosas, ambiente cálido y acogedor.
Amazing atmosphere at this cafe! With lovely views especially during summer. The food was quite nice. The service was unfortunately very slow, inattentive and seem a bit untrained as they forgot to serve us with menus or food until we reminded a few times. We didn’t mind as we were happy to have conversation with one another but this was still very noticeable.
The location of this place was brilliant. The food was hot and well presented. The chai lattes were delicious! The avocado on toast was a little too chilled for my liking but that's only a personal preference.
Visited during long bank holiday weekend. The restaurant was nice and clean. The staff weren’t as attentive as could be. Had to repeatedly ask to get water etc. The staff appeared very young - teenagers picking up holiday shifts probably? The ambiance in the restaurant was perfect. There was a young and trendy crowd. The fish was very good. The chips were cut so that they were not soggy and far more palatable. The sauce was good too. Will definitely come back here again.
Location, location, location! Great place for a meet up. We had the only three vegetarian items on the menu, bruschetta (£12), watermelon salad (£12), vegan burger (£15), and onion rings, and three ice teas. The tea and mains were good but nothing special, the onion rings were terrible, tasteless and oily. Overall struggled with the debate of price v value, at £65 for 3 of us on a midweek lunch treat was expensive for us.
Lovely location on the beach front opposite Canoe Lake for a bit of lunch. Some of the best chips I’ve ever had! Great food at a good price. Lots of drink options and they serve alcohol. I really fancied a Sol but I got told they no longer offer it unfortunately. Out and inside seating. If your inside and the sun it hitting the canvas/ wall thing (don’t know what it’s called) directly it can get very very hot. All staff were friendly but could smile once in a while.
Love Southsea beach cafe! It's one my fav places! The autumn menu selection is good. And they have some really good Christmas / winter coffees and hot chocolate too. The chair with bourbon was really good. Downside was my hot chocolate was ice cold. The wait staff could use a little cheer that's the only thing that's dragging the place down atm. Wish this place was open a little later.
Food was good, boujii'ish cafe cusine which was a nice surprise for a first time visit as I was not expecting it. Weather was fine so we ate outside..nice music playing added to the pleasant overall ambience of sea waves and gentle breezes et al. Service was ok....I found that whilst all the usual pleasantries were engaged, after asking me how my meal was, he promptly walked off when I was about to comment further which demonstrated that he actually wasn't listening to my response at all and was merely enquiring out of practice and probably on company policy instruction. I would return however to experience again, probably inside seating next time to see if the experience is same/better/below expectations.
Tasty food and lovely beach views I ordered the gluten free fish and chips and it was delicious. There are quite a lot of gluten free options too. The staff were very helpful and friendly, however the food is quite expensive
Update 2024 We had the sharing seafood platter. Just lovely, with a really nice sauce. Attentive service, and a chilled atmosphere. Perfect. First visit 2022 A sweet place to eat with a sea view. We had the fish sharing plate with a side of vegetables. On the plus side, nice prawns, and very polite, friendly service. On the down side, knives forgotten, paper towels forgotten, water forgotten, butter forgotten, table very dirty. To be fair it was a very busy day, but even so maybe have someone working on keeping things clean and well stocked. Had a takeaway coffee later, and that was super. Staff kind, polite and thoughtful, and excellent coffee done exactly as asked.
Couldn't ask for better views from an eatery. Only had a breakfast bap which was put together very nicely. They cook to taste so be sure to let them know how crispy/well done you want your food. They were so busy we couldn't eat inside so get there early or book ahead. They could do with a better system for takeaways. The server didn't take any names so it was a free for all when the food was called out. Overall it was nice and I'd go again. Especially on a day with a nice view.
Not a fan of the new menu, ordered the seafood platter for one, which is not good value and taking the mickey. This dish was £20 consisted of x 3 frozen prawns , which when peeled were mush, x 1 small slice of french toast a blob of crab pate and x 4 small calamari rings....photo included. Staff were lovely and agreed it was not value for money and rectified the problem by giving us another platter, which still didn't fill us up , so ordered a small portion of chips. Tandoori skewers were good and service friendly and polite.
Shocking service! I had to collect my own drinks from the service hatch after 10 minutes of them sat there while all staff ignored the bell. To get our bill at the end was a struggle too. Sad, as this place could be amazing.
So having been here a number of times for breakfast and really enjoying our meals (which I still highly recommend), we decided to try out the summer BBQ they have just started in the evenings (as of June 2023). There was no menu available online, so we took a gamble based on the Instagram videos of what was on offer at the BBQ, it looked promising. However these videos on Instagram now feel a little misleading… the menu price for the fish or meat platter was £60 per platter (for two people). We went for the fish platter, which came with two side salads. As you can see from the photo (for scale, those are small side plates), we were a little surprised at how little you got for £60; 6 jumbo prawns, a small fillet of Halibut, 2 scallops and a dollop of pate. On the side were two large bits of focaccia and 2 side salads. In fairness the food was all really tasty. But the portions were rather lacking in size. Considering only three of the prawns and the halibut were served hot off the bbq, the rest was cold served, it took over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Perhaps larger salad portions or a third different salad could be added for better value, and more than 1 scallop per person.
Strong pricing and a slightly sticky table and menus took the edge off what could be a really excellent place. We visited after an apparently very busy lunch service on a Sunday. Tables were complaining about long waits and missed orders. We waited a little while to be offered drinks but the staff were friendly and helpful. We had an Aperol spritz and a mojito, which came with black and limp mint in the glass. This was sent back and a fresh one was made. Who decided that was acceptable to send out… I had a salmon and crab open sandwich, which at £17.00 was a lot for a piece of sourdough toast with crab, salmon, avo and tomatoes. The Gf fish and chips was very nice though. There are a good range of GF options here Sticky menus, dirty tables and lack of cutlery did let the side down a little and other tables got up and left their food after waiting so long. In the sunshine I can see the appeal and would hope that things were kept on top of as it’s the only beach cafe/bar like it along the front. Nice that dogs are allowed and I’d visit again.
Jojo: Very beautiful location whilst eating , highly recommend cafe we heard of by the locals, classic sea side decor but at the same time modern feel to service, staff friendly. Shem : But We had a long wait , order was incorrect and a shell in my fried egg plus they forgot about our drinks -_- 1 toilet for each gender so expect a long wait. But we came to the conclusion 3 stars rating is more than generous for our experience.
We attempted the Southsea jazz collective. A sold out event for months. It was good, not great but good vocals and band. The host on the door for the Southsea beach cafe was abrupt to us when we turned up at 7.15pm. Doors were to open/ show start at 7.30pm. we were told that doors and the show start at 7.30pm. We noticed people being seated not long after us however and by 7.25pm most people were seated. We were then directed by the same host to a table at the back. We had to ask to sit at the clear seats nearer the front and the host seemed put out. However, Zach, our server was very helpful and thoughtful. He came at the right times, was attentive and also offered a complimentary side when our original order of squid was overcooked. Professional and friendly demeanor. Good service which changed our final opinions on the evening as a whole. Thank you!
Great for a summer drink, but I won't be eating here again any time soon. The food arrived randomly, with some sides twenty minutes before the main. The waiting staff did recognise this and brought out fresh ones. A £4 bread selection was 3 small bread rolls, one of which rolled onto the floor as it was plonked down on the table. The salad we were told with the main was a tiny bit of watercress. Menus and tables were sticky and dirty. Hit and miss, both on food and service, and certainly poor value for money.
Came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon in the Easter break. After being seated and having orders taken for food and drinks, we had a bit of a wait for the drinks. After these arrived we had an even longer wait for food. After the cafe had pretty much emptied, we had started to wonder whether the order even went through. Eventually someone noticed we were still there and checked if we were waiting.. We reminded them of our order and were assured it would come out soon. The staff sadly didn't seem very sincerely apologetic. When the food arrived we were still missing an order for our party, which we reminded them of. They brought out the wrong order, despite now being in a pretty much empty cafe with few other orders to compare with. As a gesture for this delay, we had one of the orders deducted from the menu. However, when it came to pay for the order, we still ended up having this order on the bill and being charged for it. When correcting them on this issue, they justified and explained that this whole debacle witnessed by the whole team was actually the fault of a new member of staff who had started that day. I didn't think this was very kind at all. The food and drinks themselves were very lovely, I can't fault this front. However, the service and throwing a team member under the bus with a blame game means this can't be more than a two.
Edit: Went here again and the flies 🪰 outside ruined the entire meal - a couple of flies are understandable but these were endless and going straight for the food. We suspected bins around the corner, possibly not cleaned for a while? I ordered the same meal and the quality just didn’t seem the same as last time - the mackerel pâté was bone dry, and the popcorn crayfish had been removed, so less on the plate despite prices having gone up. I believe the cocktails went from £7 to £8.50 and the fish platter from £16 to £19.50 One drink and one course and a load of flies 🪰 for £28 - won’t go here for lunch again Service friendly and the views are still great. Old: 5* Amazing drinks amazing food amazing view 👌
So I have to say, the view is gorgeous from the restaurant. We had a very good waiter, but after she knocked off, we had other waiters who I had to ask to please give us cutlery to eat our food with and then sauces, and when we wanted dessert, we had to call as well. So that wasn't very nice. The food selection is very minimal, every dish contains fish except for about 3. And the items are not common things one would eat. It also didn't taste great and the brownie was burned on one end. Extremely pricey as well and food just was not worth it. Frkkels are just a load of batter that has been over fried and tastes of just oil. Also enquired about entertainment and was met with a line that summed up that the conversation was closed, so that wasn't very nice either.
Visited Southsea today & the first place we came across for a coffee was this beach cafe. Using the take away kiosk on the outside, we ordered coffee's & a tea. Obviously, they were short staffed as it took so long to get served, even though there was only a couple of people in front of us. During this time, 4 people walked off due to the long waiting time. When we did finally get our drinks, after waiting for 20 minutes, the americano I ordered was very weak if had any coffee in it at all & it just tasted like hot water with milk on the top, & the tea wasn't much better either. I hope sitting in the cafe has a better service than the kiosk.
The food was awful and extremely expensive for what it was. After 30 minutes wait we then watched our food sit cooling for another 15 minutes at the serving hatch. When we got it the portions were small and the food itself oily and fishcakes practically inedible. Surprised as the reviews on here were good. Some of the staff were friendly and the atmosphere felt cheerful just a shame about the food and how pricey it was.
