The ScapeGoat Miami Reviews
Stephen is incredible! Amazing drinks, great personality, and top-tier service. He made our whole experience at Scapegoat even better. 10/10 recommend sitting at his bar! 💯
Walked across this place and so glad we did! Amazing cocktails and great service! The server was super knowledgeable and friendly
A TRUE CREATURE COMFORT BAR! When you are exhausted from the beat booming', dance light flickering, 100+ chair joints along the several main strips of South Beach, and you are all about to give up on finding the bar you have yet to find and finally have that cocktail you've been pining for all day in a space that says exhale and return to sanity, you will do best to do yourself a favor and GO HERE!!! The cocktails at The Scapegoat are bespoke, intuitively designed for your palette, delivered by a server who truly provides the service that service workers respect, tip their glass to and customers should appreciate and look for from other establishments. Not to slag off any other Miami bar servers, because it's a tough gig to always shine within, but Tom Lasher-Walker (the owner) was amazing and provided me with an evening of cocktail bliss, phenomenal service and industry-sympathetic chat (it's rough out there right now folks, SUPPORT THE SERVICE INDUSTRY! DRINK MORE!!!). Where this man goes for future pursuits, you should follow, for his drink list is specially curated and gives props to the establishments and individuals that have gifted theses refreshing & complex delights (punk rock cred matters to some of us). This review may seem lofty with the compliments, but they are all true and deserved. The only shit part of this review is that I found a great new spot, but live on the west coast so cannot attend in the frequency I'd like to. Thank Tom! Cheers and come to SF with your wife!
This place has a great vibe and an excellent cocktail program. Stephen really makes this place even better with his eagerness to create the best experience for customers. This is our second time back in two days, highly recommend!
Walked in a Friday night and loved it! Tom, Nate and Stephen were delightful. Felt like a friendly get together vs. a traditional bar. The bartenders checked up on me a few times and I felt extremely safe and comfortable there as a lady. The drinks are fire and go down very easy. Def make an effort to pop in and say hello if you’re in the neighborhood. :)
Stephen took stellar care of us. The drinks were carefully crafted and delicous. My girl convinced him to take pictures of us and he went above and beyond with the photo session. We'll be back!
Wasn’t my first time going to Scape Goat and won’t be my last. We came for a master class on daiquiris and we learned so much! Beyond that, the atmosphere was amazing and the drinks were beyond. Can’t wait to come back and get the full experience.
Great hidden spot. From outside looks closed. Definitely worth a stop. Music a tad too loud but service and drinks are great
One of my favorite bars in South Beach! The atmosphere is dark, cozy, and romantic perfect for a first date or an intimate night out. The bartender took real care in crafting my drink and made me one of the best Last Words I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for top-notch classic cocktails with great attention to detail, this spot is a must.
Super boujee cute little bar. We are walking around the area and stumbled upon their Happy Hour sign outside (5pm-8pm). The drinks were amazing we had a Paloma and Manhattan, made by Max M. He is very friendly and have great energy. At our check out he mentioned that the 18% gratuity is included, unlike the other restaurants & bars, they won't. We appreciated people like him. It definitely would make you wanna tip more, which we did. Ambiance is super chill and great playlist. Will definitely go back.
Nicely decorated, welcoming bar with classic and more creative drinks. Bartender was very kind and made excellent cocktails!
Amazing bartender, loved the atmosphere and the cocktails.
Great local hangout. Small little bar that serves some pretty awesome tasting craft cocktails. We’re staying just around the corner and needed an after dinner drinks so this was it. Met some pretty friendly locals and bar staff was amazing. Very accommodating and drinks tastes great. Most definitely need to check it out if you’re in town.
May not seem like they are open from the outside but go inside. Good atmosphere. Simple cocktails and goose service. Worth it.
Great service, fantastic cocktails. Kenny was a delightful bartender- so much so that we came back two days in a row. If you're vacationing in South beach this place is a must-go. We went earlier in the evening when it was a little quieter
Highly recommended! A real cocktail bar. The drinks were truly amazing and innovative; they played with our senses in the best way. The design of the place is really cool. We really had a great time.
It is a smaller place, but it's a nice one. The menu was a bit limited, but the drinks were fantastic. The bartenders were friendly and good at conversating. I recommend trying this place out.
Perfect for a Great early night cocktail to vibe out in one of miami's elite neighborhoods. Service was great especially Kenny! master of his craft.
Hit this place on New year's Eve. Great cocktails, Great service. I was surprised how fast I was served, even though the place was crowded. Bit pricey for me, but still felt reasonable considering the location and the good cocktails you get.
What a find!! It was 2 am when we stopped in and was amazed with the drinks prepared by the bartender Vicki. It was 4 of us and we told Vicki to surprise us using the herb display on the bar...and boy she did!! The drinks were awesome with some incredible flavors and aromas!! They press and make a number of their juices, like lime, cucumber vodka and much more!! This place was fantastic...including the music mix!!! Thanks Vicki!!
Go ask Alex for a dealer’s choice. He made us the most amazing cocktails. We’re from Chicago and came for one cocktail- now were closing the place and we want to come back. This place is incredible because of the talented and creative bartenders. Bougie b’s from Chicago in terms of cocktails… the real deal is here.
Awesome bar! Very tiny and cute and comfy. My guy and I sat outside. It was really great AND we had a delicious IPA that starts with a 'V' 🙂 ask about it!
Great atmosphere, little cozy place with phenomenal drinks. All drinks are recommended other than espresso martini
Finally, a good cocktail place in Miami beach. If you're looking for quality over quantity, you're in the right place. Well-balanced original cocktail, cool staff, and good music.
Really small, intimate bar with a few tables and bar seats - great for chatting and enjoying a few drinks with other patrons. The barmen make some great cocktails. Highly recommended
Know what you're going for....The ScapeGoat is like an Old-School Speakeasy...it's not about the atmosphere - it's about the Cocktails. And they are True Crafted Premium Beverages. These are REAL Bartenders making REAL Craft Cocktails and offering unique premium spirits. These include local spirits aged with Florida citrus - creating unique and delightful flavors. To be clear; this is not a "Showcase" atmosphere, it is a chill, low-key spot with exceptional beverages.
such a cutie little spot that we were able to enjoy a drink before dinner! servers are super attentive and checked in quite often. would come again when i’m back in south beach :)
My partner and I came here before dinner nearby, and loved it. Our bartender Kenny was knowledgeable, friendly, and provided recommendations of different cocktails. The drinks were excellent as was the service.
Incredible experience here. Great bartenders who really know their cocktails. I just told the bartender what types of things I liked and he made me an amazing new drink I’d never had off menu. If you are into the craft cocktail experience this is the place you want to come.
Amazing spot! Drinks were delicious but most importantly the service was great. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome.
Favorite spot in Miami Beach. Great date spot or to just grab a nice cocktail. Dope vibes, cool people. Drinks are really good and fair priced, Kenny, the manager, makes amazing cocktails and keeps the good music and vibes up. Gotta stop there if you’re in town.
The Scape Goat is a tiny bar specializing in cocktails that have some love in them. The flavors are clearly well thought through and never made in haste. I enjoyed a thyme and rye concoction that provided just enough that was intriguing to the palate but didn't take away from the distiller's presence. Here is where an evening should feel slow to appreciate the craft and get to know your neighbor. The small atmosphere creates and cozy but at times crowded space. Bartenders are easy to chat with and they definitely take their skill seriously. In a location surrounded by others that serve flashing fish bowls of alcoholic sugar water the Scape Goat is a beacon and worth a visit. I was a stranger in a strange land that night but thanks for making me feel briefly like a local!
Hip bar that’s not pretentious. Tucked away off the main drag with nice atmosphere. Great cocktails and they let you bring outside food. Perhaps a little too much JaRule on the playlist but the drinks and vibe still make it worth the visit.
We tried their Benny’s Diaquiri and classic mojito. The Diaquiri was ingenious with a hint of Banana liquor. The mojito tasted better than the classic recipe. All the ingredients were mixed to perfection. Must visit for drinks!
Great little local bar where you can always find a good drink and conversation.
This place is Amazing. It's a blend of local feel, Sexy ambiance, and craft cocktails. If you are tired of over paying for drinks and the relentless high bass music of Ocean Drive this is your place. Our bartender Bobby was super friendly and made some amazing drinks off the cuff. He also pointed us to some amazing restaurants to try. I can't recommend this place enough.
Great place for a drink!! Bartenders were great. Super personable and even suggested a few really good dinner spots. (Thanks Bobby Macchialina was fabulous!!). The drink selections were perfect from pre-dinner cocktails to a nice stiff drink you can’t go wrong. They had outdoor seating too if you didn’t want to sit inside. But if you do I highly recommend it so you can talk to the bartenders!!
This is a great low key classy place to grab some really good cocktails. The service was absolutely great and the drinks were very good. The staff were all amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out and taking for a few drinks. I am definitely coming back next time I am in the neighborhood.
Incredible service, amazing drinks, a perfect cocktail bar. Immediately on my shortlist of places to visit next time I’m in Miami.
ScapeGoat is incredible! Stephen and Nate behind the bar make ridiculously good drinks and you can’t beat the vibes. Highly recommend you check it out!
Amazing experience. A small cocktail bar with a great atmosphere. The bartenders were excellent and friendly. The drinks we ordered were carefully made and very good. Once we were all set the bartender made special cocktail shots for us all to take together. I’d definitely recommend and would go back.
Legit one of my favorite bars in Miami. The vibe is immaculate, great lighting, amazing music, and the drinks…all their bartenders are truly talented. I go there as a solo woman all the time and always feel safe and comfortable. The owner truly cares and it shows.
Clinton & Tyler (the bartenders) deserve a raise, these two make the place better than it already is! The happy hour is truly that: happy! I thought I'd stay for maybe an hour when I got there around 1am, I stayed until they closed past 3am! And it would've never happened if the craft & charisma of these two didn't exist. The clientele & atmosphere was solid, making for an unforgettable evening (despite me drinking quite a bit). I would certainly recommend The Scapegoat to anyone looking to make the most of their time, money & trip to South Beach!
I had a really good time at this bar. Edwin was a great bartender...very personable with good conversation. As a solo traveler it's always nice to find. He gave me drink and restaurant recommendations in the area...I was staying downtown and ventured over to try a place.... I showedbuo around 500p....ot was relatively empty..when I came back around 1000p it was packed and booming... makes sense... but if you get a reservation at stubborn seed....or anything in the area... this a good stop for 'before dinner drinks'
Love this bar. Bartenders are awesome and they turn out some killer drinks!
Only thing better than the drinks is the service. Go if you want a perfect, real cocktail.
Nate from Boston is very nice and kind. He made me a hot toddy, cos I was sick, even thoigh it is not offered on the menu
Up there with Cafe la Trova and Sweet Liberty for cocktail quality, maybe even better. Really friendly, passionate and knowledgeable staff. They're not cutting any corners here, even cutting and shaping the ice by hand. Drinks came out quick and looked beautiful. My only criticism would be that for a small place it was a bit too loud, and that made it hard to have a conversation - I think striking a good balance with the volume or adding some soft furnishings to absorb some of the echo would make this the best cocktail spot in South Beach.
Great atmosphere, smaller place this is not a huge bar for a ton of people. If you want fantastic drinks that are priced well. A place that you can sit down and enjoy the music in the background but still have conversations with your group and bartenders that know their craft this is it.
Really amazing bar. The “El Tipo”, which is a really unique take on a traditional negroni, is unbelievably delicious and highly recommended. The bartenders are super knowledgeable, sociable, creative and attentive and this definitely will be a talked about bar on Collins Ave for an intimate drink with family or friends at any time of the day!
One of my favorite nights ever was spent here with the bartenders and patrons singing along to every pop tune that came on. The prices are fair and the atmosphere immediately sets a party tone. The cocktails are well made but what I like most is that if you just want a beer and a shot, that's no problem either. It's just a great mixed bag that you'll have a great time without all of the traditional South Beach glamour tribe.
Stopped here for a couple of drinks before a dinner reservation around the corner. The atmosphere was super nice. Out bartender was fantastic! We chit chatted and he was playing great music. The place might seem closed when you first walk in, but it definitely isn’t. Great place for a quieter vibe.
I got attended by Stephen and he was amazing! Service was extremely fast and the drinks were great and affordable. I will definitely be asking for him the next time I visit!
Who doesn't love a great, fun bartender...small place....and good cocktails? Plus happy hour normal prices.
First time to The Scapegoat. Looked it up on google maps, saw it was 4.6 stars, figured it was a cool spot to visit before going to Joe’s Stone Crab for dinner. Have to say, the bartender was fantastic. The owner happened to be there and he came over (not realizing he was the owner). He was the most hospitable person I’ve come across in a bar. Someone who clearly cares about his customers. Drinks were great, atmosphere is a smaller old school kind of place. Would come here a thousand times again. Great people. Great ownership. Great spot.
The drinks were really good, I recommend the daiquiri and the penicillin drinks. The music was a bit too loud tho and talking was hard. Otherwise, great atmosphere.
This place is super charming ~ emma && and clinton hold it down at the bar. The drinks are so yum and the vibes are highhhh. Go get blessed!
Exitante !
Muy buena atención la música muy buena
ScapeGoat = rare neighborhood gem 🌿🍹 Friendly vibes, laid-back energy, awesome people. Perfect escape from the South Beach hustle. Highly recommend! ⭐️✨
The bartender was very sweet and charming. It was just too warm in there for me and I had to go after 1 drink.
Very cozy place I like the atmosphere & they have a really good drinks. The reason I gave them 4 stars is because the music is so loud! You could tell the bartenders really liked the playlist.
Hidden gem in south beach, but they tried to rush us out by bringing the bill when it wasn’t asked for. Drinks/vibe were good, service was off though.
Didn’t eat. Place has good vibe service was good, cocktails as well. Good beer! Bus did not have some of the brands.
Solid cocktails, very good service. Chill, relaxed, intimate vibe. Kinda small so it can fill up, bar seats are at a premium.
Craft cocktail bar we found during our recent trip to South Beach. Off the beaten path on a side street and tucked away so you’ll probably have to seek the place out rather than stumble upon it. Small intimate spot with limited seating. The photos on line and menu looked appealing and what brought us to the bar. We got a Rose Petal and a Fancy George. The bartender advised that the drinks were strong and alcohol forward but we didn’t find that to be the case. The drinks were okay but came in small glasses and weren’t even full. The RosePetal didn’t taste like much of anything to me and the Fancy George was tastier but still nothing special. We finished our drinks and moved on.
They were quite busy and their quality of service suffered. Sat at the bar with several friends. We asked to be put on a wait list to go upstairs to order dinner. We got a text at 11pm saying our table was ready. humorous, better luck next time.
I hate to say I didn't have a great experience here. It was very likely because they just recently reopened after having been closed for C19 precautions. It may have been that they had to hire new staff, who did not have a lot of experience. The atmosphere is great, that's obvious from the pictures. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The staff also seem to have a good knowledge of their liquor inventory. However it seemed the mixology skills were that of a beginner, or a person in training. For example, we ordered an old fashioned, a boozey cocktail staple, that came out watery, put together with typical restaurant ice, and tasted like it was made with store-bought premixed old-fashioned cocktail starter. Also, maybe I'm splitting hairs at this point but, I asked for a two-finger pour of blended Scotch whiskey, Monkey Shoulder, got less than I asked for, but was billed full price.
The atmosphere in the bar was nice. But after visiting I would be surprised if I returned as the bartender seemed in a bad mood. Slamming drinks down. Amazing the door open. He was in an unpleasant mood for sure.
Spent $130 for 6 drinks, finished them and left within 30 minutes, our party was polite and kept to ourselves. As I was closing out I grabbed a toothpick from a shot glass right in front of me. The bartender (blonde guy) gave me a dirty look and snatched them away so I assumed they were for cocktails, my mistake. Just spent a solid penny here to be disrespected over a toothpick that costs you nothing. Won’t be back or recommend.
Tom is the worst bartender I ever met. I came in, sat down, and ordered a drink from him. Then he walked away and never made my drink. Came up to me 5 minutes later and said he decided to serve a table and someone else is going to make my drink. I left and went around the corner to Lucky Cat restaurant/ bar. Lucky Cat was upscale and had great service!
Very expensive for the cocktail quality, no esthetics at all. Female bartender was unfriendly, disinterested and rude. Ruined the experience for us. The 20% tip was included in the bill, but not deserved. Disappointing.
