The South Pointe Tavern Miami Reviews
Dropped in for lunch and beers, nice place. I had excellent service with prompt food order and beers replaced as needed. Cuban sandwich was good too. Plenty of TVs were showing sports. Recommended.
This place had a real intimate feel. Outdoor seating where you can smoke and bring pets and the inside had beautiful decor with dim lighting. Service was amazing we were greeted with ice water and ordered a couple gin and tonics a Bloody Mary and an amazing dirty martini 🍸
Best guac ever!!!! South Pointe Tavern, located in Miami Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood, is a local spot known for its inviting atmosphere. The menu is segmented into "Pirate & Boozy," "Shaken & Refreshing," and "Highballs & Tropical," ensuring there's something for every palate. The food menu features popular items like the Cuban sandwich, praised for its flavor and quality. Patrons appreciate the homely atmosphere, making it an ideal place to unwind. The gracious staff further enhances the experience, contributing to the tavern's reputation as the "Cheers of South of Fifth." For a dependable spot with chill vibes, solid cocktails, and delicious food, South Pointe Tavern stands out as a top choice in Miami Beach.
Very nice bar near South Pointe, big screens for watching sport, bar, lounge area and lots of outside seating, staff very attentive, we didn't eat, only had some drinks but food coming out looked good.
Had a great dinner while watching the football game Very cool interior and the food was excellent
Found this gem walking around South Pointe Beach and it was delicious. We had the grilled steak sandwich and it was simply a delight. The caramelized onions truly sent it over! We also had the nachos with carnitas and they were absolutely sinful! Will definitely be back! Our server was wonderful as well.
Came here purely due to it's short walk from the Stanton South Beach hotel. Every bit of the food was outstanding. It's very casual with decent outdoor seating too. We had several appetizers and two mains for lunch. Size wise, we could have split one and one and still have been full by the end! Service was certainly laid back but very competent. Nothing but praise for our visit.
We had the best experience at the tavern. Lauren and Kat really took care of us, helping us find the best table for our large party and be able to enjoy the copa américa final game. Besides the amazing service and atmosphere, the food and drinks were also delicious. We loved everything we had tonight including the nachos and ribs we started with. The adults in our party enjoyed the great frescalita and the Miami State of mind. The cuban sandwich, burger, and panini made everyone happy. To top it all, we devoured the cheesecake and brownie ala mode. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Miami Beach.
This place surprisingly has really good matcha for a bar. Get the iced mango matcha, you won’t regret it!
This place is awesome. Great food! 🥘 i Definitely recommend stopping at this place to share a quick bite. The charcuterie board here is at another level, good cheese and jams and hams. Quality at its best. We had a couple drinks as well , that were good, margarita could have been better but it was still ok. The server was nice. Ambiance is cute , vibrant and the atmosphere invites you to talk and have a nice evening with friends. I definitely recommend this one
Let's get through the quick and obvious stuff first--the food is delicious and they don't skimp on flavor or portions. It's a menu that's got a wide range of options and is what you'd expect from a neighborhood spot...but just executed really well. I also use the term "neighborhood spot" lightly, as you are steps from the pristine beaches that Miami, and more specifically Miami Beach is known for. Locals frequent this place and for good reason. Find me a better location for a tavern anywhere in the country.... THAT ALL BEING SAID, the real attraction of this place is the staff and service they provide. Attentive, friendly, and exactly what you want from bartenders and servers. They are rockstars in every sense of the word and while you may only visit once, you'll leave feeling like you've known them for years. Lastly, ask for Sofia and have her make you a spicy Paloma--it was dynamite. Alissa brings the heat behind the bar as well. Both will have you coming back for a second, third, and fourth visit. 6/5 stars.
This place is great. Staff is lovely and nice. The vibe and the music is groovy. The food? Amazing! We started with the shrimp ceviche which I could have eaten a whole large bowl of. I’m serious. It was so good all I wanted was more. It is served with plantain chips and would recommend to everyone. I got a fresh pressed juice which was great. Hubby loved his gin and tonic which was how he makes his. We got the house made pasta with ragu. It was also great. Son got a Reuben and LOVED it. Everything was wonderful. We did have a little trouble getting our waitress, which can be a good thing. The eye didn’t pester us. The problem was we were ready to leave. The problem was a customer’s car was towed and he didn’t want to pay his bill so there was a slight kerfuffle that kept her attention away from us. She was great though. If you are in the area, I highly recommend. It’s a nice quiet alternative to all the bar/restaurants up ocean drive. Prices were better too.
WOW! This place is AMAZING!!!! Thankyou so much to our servers and our bartenders Maria and Antonella! They were beyond kind and are by far the best on south beach. Located right at the end of ocean drive you cannot miss it!! This place is like the fountain of YOUTH! As soon as you walk in your skin glows a little brighter, your mind feels sharper, and you look a lil slimmer 🫶🏼
I had a fantastic time at South Pointe Tavern. I had the pleasure of getting to talk to Antonella and receive great drink and food recommendations from her. I would recommend this bar/restaurant to anyone in South Beach who wants to spend time at a place that cares about their customers.
I went yesterday for a glass of wine and the bartender Paula was so nice! Had a great time and Definitely will be back.
Initially the first waitress I came in contact with was dismissive but Camilla came right along and changed my whole interaction. Camilla was so helpful, she provided us with extra space and the service was exceptional. We let the manager know our experience didn’t start off great and she made it a point to order us drinks for the discrepancy. I would come back just because Camilla was so pleasant.
Great food and service. Had the churasco plate and it was perfectly cooked (medium rare). Can't beat well cooked steak, rice, and beans. It's nice to find a local place for dinner that has a healthy balance of locals and tourists. Quick and pleasant service at the bar, too! Antonia and Nani were the best :)
Beautiful and relaxing setting on the outside patio! Delicious drinks! All of the staff were absolutely fabulous!! I forgot something and they went out of their way to help me. Lauren, the manager, is a Rock Star!! Very professional and beyond helpful!! Will definitely return!!
Loved the vibe here! The flatbread was super flavorful, and the drinks were refreshing. Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some good food and cocktails!
Went with my friend for drinks and we had a wonderful time at this tavern. Thanks Sofia and Alice you were so kind and made us feel so comfortable
Nachos are great, big and baked. We go here every time we’re in south beach. Service is nice, but slow. Atmosphere is good, but who brings toddlers to a tavern? So frustrating to go have a beer and some kid is screaming. Shuffle board inside, bar seating is tight. Sit outside and people watch, great spot.
Loved the burger, drinks and service were good.
Very friendly staff. They always make you feel welcome. I come to Miami Beach several times a year for work and always stop by.
Had a great time; Florencia and Ali were amazing, great service, 5 stars all the way. They recommended the nachos to share and they were right. The nachos were the best I’ve ever had, no cap. Beautiful bar. Their mezcal selection was extensive and tasty. One of the best low-key bars in south beach.
Excellent service great setting. Definitely somewhere I go back the service for spectacular
One of the best and my favorite places in South Beach. The kitchen closes at 1:20 am and the food is amazing. Candela is a great bartender. The owner is really nice. Always come by to say hi. They make you feel at home is really a great local spot.
I decided to stop by with my wife after having a bad experience at another restaurant, and SPT offer the best experience we can expected, Antonella and Nanny our bartenders gave us the best Old fashioned we can find in Miami Beach zone, we defend are coming back and if you are in the south beach zone and. want to have the best drink just forget about the main blvd restaurants and stop by South Point Tavern.
This place hits the spot right after a full beach day. My family and I got burgers, tacos, nachos, and it was perfect. Covered in sand for the ride home, but bellies full.
South Point Tavern stands out as a hidden gem, offering delightful food, enticing drinks, and exceptional service. The inviting ambiance adds a cozy touch, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a casual yet extraordinary cocktail & tapas experience. Five stars without a doubt. The atmosphere makes it a standout in South of Fifth neighborhood. Whether you're looking for a chill evening or a lively night out, this place has it all. The diverse drink menu caters to every taste, and the cozy ambiance adds to the overall charm. The attentive and personable staff enhance the experience, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. Highly recommended for a fantastic time and five-star hospitality!
Food was amazing, also was the service. The atmosphere is old but modern and the alcohol selection is extensive. As a non-drinker, my brother and I had a selection of non-alcoholic beers and mocktails that weren't filled with a bunch of sugar. I highly recommend this place for not only a quick bite, or a drink or a non-drink for that matter. Nothing that you order will be anything but great!
Great tavern. They have an excellent selection of wines and beers. The waitress even knew how to serve Stella ( logo in the glass facing the customer like they do in Belgium). Lots of choices for vegetarians. The cheese board was very good. My wife said the burger was great. The chef really cares about the cooking as it is obvious from the quality of food. Friendly waitresses and the ambience is pleasant. Music is not so blaring that it was possible to have a conversation, a rarity in Miami. I would certainly go back when I am back.
My wife and I are fans of heading to the rail. We had great service and would recommend this place for a drink. It's also close to the south point Pier (hence the name I am sure), really cool area to go explore and walk if you have not. I would recommend this place if you enjoy taverns! Cheers!🍸
Great, delicious nachos. Great drinks. Amazing ambience and space. Fabulous service, kind and helpful. We were dying of heat, and the first thing they did when we got seated was give us a huge vase of cold water with ice for free!
We went to South Pointe Tavern on Saturday to watch the Iowa Vanderbilt Game with a group of people. The set up, the service, the food and atmosphere was amazing. Lauren and her team (as always) did a great job! A great place to dine, drink and watch the games!
Without a doubt, the best spot for craft cocktails in South Beach. The cozy bar, expertly designed with eclectic decor, is impressively stocked with all manner of popular liquors, as well as rare top-shelf specialties. Their mixed drinks are creative and perfectly balanced. For the beer aficionado, the have an excellent selection of IPAs on tap and in can. Top off this excellent quality with friendly, fast services. I was here with two other women and we felt very comfortable and safe with both the staff and clientele. If you’re looking for a low-key yet classy place to spend the afternoon and evening, this is your place.
We decided to stop by before our flight back. They were so accommodating by keeping our luggage aside, and we had a great time watching football all afternoon. The drinks were amazing, and the food was incredible.
The service and food were both 10/10. We were taken care of by two Argentinian sisters who were absolutely amazing. Since it was my birthday, they even surprised me with a free dessert. Highly recommend!
The nachos were great and also the lemonade! Kat and Antonella are the best there! I have been 3 times to this place and these girls are rockstars! They had a halloween dog party and a lovely gentleman gave me some treats for my dog! How cool is this place?! Definitely a must visit! They make you feel at home!
I stopped by this place last year on a complete whim while on vacation. I was strolling around South Beach looking for a quick bite, and it was among the less expensive places without a huge wait. The atmosphere is nice, the staff were all wonderful, and I want to shout-out the bartender in particular for holding my seat at the bar when a large group came in and asked me to make room for them. I feel bad that I don't remember her name. That kind of customer service got me to come back the following night with one of my friends. I got a Cuban sandwich the first night, and the garlic shrimp pasta the next night, while my friend got the Bolognese. Both of us cleaned our plates. I'm looking forward to stopping by again during my next trip.
This hidden gem south of fifth is one of my favorite places in Miami Beach to watch a football game. This time around was exceptional when I experienced great service from my server Pau she recommended some great dishes and even found me a non alcoholic beer. She gets five stars for service!
Kids were hungry and decided to stop here as we saw it on one of our bike rides. The place has your typical pub food. Everything was well made and they had a good selection of beers on tap. Solid place, go with confidence.
Clean locals bar with plenty of TVs showing sports. Good range of drinks but the service was lacking somewhat. Regardless, I'd go back as we all have off-nights.
Nice little bar with kind of an old school tavern feel-- Think an 1887 San Fran wharf bar, even though it's only been there for a few years (less than 10). The beer is nice and cold and they have surprisingly good food that is definitely a step above your standard pub-fare. We usually get their grilled reuben or the fish tacos, but pretty much everything there is good. Definitely a casual atmosphere and not a slamming sports pub or the like so be patient... they never quite seem to be in a rush getting around to you and they definitely take their time at the bar there for drinks or food. They also have some outdoor seating with a comfortable couch area where you can have a beer and a nice cigar and watch the eclectic South of Fifth crown pass by walking their dogs or shuffling down to the beach at the end of the block.
We had a good experience at SPT. Not too busy on a Wed night, seated ourselves and were seen promptly for drinks. Wish they had a wider beer selection on tap. We ordered a couple of their platters with chicken, salad, and sides. They were both good. Got a weird question about how we wanted our chicken cooked when ordering (medium, medium well, well done) but we said well done, fully cooked, and that's how it came tasting great. The Buddha bowl with the Corvina was also very good but was missing the avocado. Regardless it was good too and came with a nice dressing. Our server took their dinner break while we were eating so we went to the bar for another drink. It seems to be a bar where at least in a Wednesday night was filled with regulars who knew the servers. That added to the ambience a bit because it felt more like a neighbourhood hangout than a place tourists would frequent. We found parking on the street ($4/hour). Looks like lunch or afternoon drinks would be good here too with an opportunity to hit the beach next door. Overall we had a good experience.
Went for lunch. Quiet. Good food. Decent portions. Service was good and easy on the eyes. Don't know what it would be like when it is busy.
very close to the south point pier, amazing location, food was great. Has a bunch of vegetarian options and decent drink selection. We sat outside with the nice breeze, apparently that was right next to the smoking area which kinda ruined the experience. Otherwise great place, food and okay service.
I recently visited South Pointe Tavern for a quick beer and some food. The location and ambiance of the tavern are quite appealing, which makes it a potentially great spot. However, my experience with the service was unfortunately less than satisfactory. It was a busy Saturday, which might have contributed, but the wait times were excessively long, both to order and to receive my meal. On a positive note, the nachos I ordered were really good, suggesting that the rest of the menu could be worth trying. While the food showed promise, the service aspect definitely needs improvement. I hope to see enhancements in their service in the future, as the place has a lot of potential given its excellent location and ambiance.
Cool place for watching sports - but not to eat. Food is terrible yet they charge like it's gourmet. Always good people watching. Staff is made up of young forign girls who are on top of your needs.
It's a great place to stop for a drink and a snack. The appetizers were okay. We got the shrimp cocktail and pigs in a blanket. The beer was good, but the margarita could've been better.
The food was just alright. Not a lot of bursting flavor. However the drinks, beer, and cocktails were on point delicious.
Great breakfast and pleasant bartenders. But, I was there everyday for three months and repeatedly told them the beer is flat. They never made any effort to fix it. It’s a good place but they need to meet the demands of their regular customers.
Shrimp cervical was excallent, flavorful, quality ingredients, large portion, $18. I scored 3 instead of 5 stars because grilled fish sandwich was not edible. Advertised homemade tartare so I thought the whole dish would be special. Soggy bun, soggy fish. Awful. I didn't like the tartare sauce either. Some ceiling lights pointed directly on to TV which caused glare.
Prices are so high for no reason. Food was subpar and the prices for high dining. The atmosphere was great wish the food matched it.
Service was mediocre bartender did not know what salsa was lol we ordered chips and guacamole, bad chips but guac was great, and I asked for a side of salsa; sorry no salsa but if you order nachos you can get salsa.. Serving size of food was laughable how tiny in was. Would never come here again. Ambiance was the best Drinks were good but way over priced but seems to be anywhere in Miami Beach area
Went to Southpoint Tavern to watch the game. The bacon cheeseburger had an off, almost rancid flavor, similar to ground beef that had been sitting out, and it was cooked closer to medium-well despite ordering medium. The Guinness had a nice pour and head but tasted flat and lacked the depth and bitterness you normally expect. Atmosphere was fine, but the food and drink were disappointing.
Service was slow and indifferent; the $16 fruit cocktail wasn't fresh squeezed, it was bottled; and most disappointingly, the cafecito had a spoonful of undissolved sugar in the bottom. I expect a decent cafecito in Miami and they clearly didn't care about the proper technique at all.
I was recommended this spot by a friend, and really had some hopes of it being good. Unfortunately it was not. I ordered a fish sandwich, and it was possibly one of the most bland tasteless Sandos I have had in a while. The bread was tiny and overall not a pleasurable experience. My cousin ordered a pasta shrimp dish. He loved the shrimp, but the pasta was really not great. Overall I felt like it was a tourist trap with great location, and lackluster food execution. My cousin also ordered the house Malbec, and (he is an avid wine drinker) he said it was awful Malbec… so much so he didn’t even finish it. Let me tell you, he never leaves a wine glass behind ever! He did get a margarita, he didn’t complain about that! Just wanted to share my experience, felt like I could have eaten anywhere else for that price, or even paid more for something good. Sandwich was 22 dollars and pasta 27… really not with it. Wine was 15 the glass.
Terrible customer service. Server looks like she doesn’t know what she’s doing here. Doesn’t even present herself, removes our menus after we ordered drinks and an app, (we came for lunch) . It guess this place is more for drinks because they don’t even have fries for their sandwiches it’s just a house salad (extremely small portion) or some a handful of chips ( but hey, it’s Miami🤣). Asked for a burger with salad and one with chips, they both came with a salad and when we mentioned that one was chips, it took them 10 minutes to bring some chips (we were the only table in the restaurant). Also the food got out in 30 minutes , and it was just sandwiches so pretty quick to make. We also asked for a second beer, server forgot about it and we had to ask again and wait more time of course. If you come for a quick bite, there’s plenty other options, it took us one hour and a half to get an app and a quick lunch, terrible service. Food was very good though, so I feel bad that the servers/bartenders don’t put more effort into it.
This is a beautiful location on South Beach, unfortunately that is it's only redeeming quality. The tuna was way over cooked and extremely dry. We asked for the salad dressing on the side, but the salad came heavily dressed with dressing on the side. Our little blonde waitress was in a hurry to take our order but seemed to deliberately ignore us after I raised my hand she would look away, as she walked by I would call out to her loud enough people several tables away could hear me but she would just walk by and the patrons at the other table would shake their heads. At the time of our order we asked if several dishes were gluten free but she never came back with an answer!
The flame on our table was dangerously high, so I calmly adjusted it myself. Instead of handling it like an adult or a professional, a staff member rushed over, snatched the flame device off the table, and said, “You can’t do that,” in a childish, hostile tone in front of everyone. No explanation. No courtesy. No respect. This wasn’t about safety — it was about ego and control. The way it was handled was embarrassing, immature, and completely inappropriate for a hospitality environment. Management allowed the situation to escalate instead of de-escalate. Service was effectively refused, and the tone was confrontational rather than professional. I will never return, and I would strongly caution others who expect respectful treatment.
I was recommended this place, but I had never had the chance. I had a date recently, and when we left we needed to continue the night and get a drink to get to know each other. I recommended going to this place. We arrived and no one welcomed us, they stared at us in a bad way, they were two girls. It was about an hour before they closed (I imagine that was their annoyance at seeing us). We only ordered a few drinks and something to snack on. They brought my partner's drink, and my glass of wine was left on the bar, both of them didn't pay attention to that! And there were only two tables in the place!!!. One was distracted flirting with a man, and the other girl was doing cutlery at the bar!! (Unprofessional, can't they do it inside, or when we leave?) I had to call one of them and ask her to bring me my drink, which had been at the side of the bar for a while!!!. Not at all friendly and welcoming. We only liked the decoration and the music of the place. The attention is HORRIBLE (To forget).
Unprofessional Staff. Of all my years going to the Tavern, it’s been amazing. Last night was the first time I went with a male friend and the young girls who now work there are savage. Both times I went to the restroom, they all took the opportunity to talk to the male friend I was with on the first go round and the second time I left for the restroom, they exchanged numbers. Considering the families and couples who reside in the building above and visit the restaurant frequently, it’s truly sad that you cannot even relief yourself without being disrespected. This was unprofessional on every level and took place in front of what appeared to be a supervisor. The shenanigans of one of them only stopped when her boyfriend arrived. If you’re the owner, check the cameras. Please hire a professional team who are respectful of others and do not fraternize with the guest. I love the Taven. It’s a beautiful place to watch sports on game day and connect with friends. When I said I visit all the time, the nerve of the culprit to say “I’ve never seen you here”. The prior staff of Tavern was more appropriate, professional, and mature.
I ordered the Pizzella. It was horrible. I didn't even eat half of it but still got a stomach ache. My hair and clothes smelled like rotten, roasted peppers. Even my ginger ale was watered down, mostly ice. The service was slow and insincere. The restroom had blood splatter in the corner on the floor. It was 2 solid nights after Halloween but they still displayed dollar-store quality Halloween decor. Also had dogs inside the dining area which was cramped and too dark. Seriously the worst dining experience I've ever had in Miami Beach. Zero stars, don't go there, you'll be better off not eating at all. I hope I don't end up with an illness from this place.
