Versailles Miami Reviews
Oxtail dish is very tasty. Paella was also a highlight. We were particularly surprised with their speed of all dishes. From order to table is less than 10 min. The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommended place to visit in little Havana for a taste of Cuba. Love it and will visit again.
Came from Orlando for my bday dinner. Customer service excellent, our server was friendly and fast. I thought since it was a Sunday in miami there would be a long wait but we got seated as soon as walked in and the food came out within 20 mins. The food is nothing out of this world BUT it was delicious and seasoned well and felt like home cooked meal from a Cuban abuela. I would definitely eat here again the next time i’m in Miami.
My father and I had a wonderful Victory dinner the day after the Louisville Cardinals mopped up the Miami Hurricanes! Everything about the dining experience was wonderful from the wait time to the food! The food is perfectly priced! The portions aren't huge, but they're not small either. You may not have leftovers but you will be full. The cafe con Leche was heavenly! The bread pudding was delicious but not after refrigerated. From now on if I'm ever in Miami it is a must to dine here!
This is a very famous Cuban restaurant so we had to come here to give the food a try. The restaurant is massive and seats around 300 people and yet the service is extremely efficient – you have people dedicated just for delivering food to your table, staff just for cleaning the table, staff just for getting the orders, etc. I am impressed by how well oiled the system is. With regards to the food, we got the Cuban samples plate – if you are not American or you have not been exposed to the sheer size of the dishes here, be prepared because this feels like it could feed for two people. The food however is extreme tasty and I would highly recommend this because it gives you samples from different types of meat.
Legend has a reason. We ordered Cuban coffee and guava pastry. Both are of high quality and the prices are shockingly low. Not aware of any other place you can have an espresso at 1.05 and two pastry items at 3.80 with such high quality. The service is surprisingly good. Even we don't speak Spanish, the waitress was very patient and confirmed what we really wanted before placing order.
Waiting outside was fun. There was a bar with some Cuban music being played. The food was good, but I’ve had better examples of the dishes elsewhere. I would have liked the Picadillo a little more savory. The Cuban sandwich was tasty. Service and prices were excellent. I also liked my cafe con Leche
Super busy, but for a good reason. The food is fantastic. One of the better Cuban sandwiches I've had, and the picadillo enpanada and yucca fries were spot on. Friendly and attentive staff added to the enjoyable experience. Don't forget to grab a café Cubano and a pastry at the outside counter on the way out
Calle Ocho Royalty: Why Versailles Still Serves the Most Glamorous Cuban Soul in Miami . MIAMI, FL - There are restaurants you visit — and then there are institutions you step into like a well-tailored suit. Versailles Restaurant Cuban Cuisine is firmly the latter. Sitting proudly on Calle Ocho, this place hums with the kinetic energy of Miami’s Cuban heartbeat — a restaurant that feels as much like a cultural clubhouse as a dining room. Walk through the doors and you’re greeted by ornate, old-school flourishes, marble gleam, and the sort of lively buzz that says: yes, this is where people come to see and be seen. It’s loud, warm, slightly chaotic — but in a charismatic way, not a chaotic one. Think vintage Havana meets South Florida confidence. . The crowd is a mix of sharply dressed locals, multi-generational Cuban families, curious travelers, and regulars who look like they’ve been ordering the same plate for twenty years. Service lands firmly in that classic Cuban rhythm: fast, friendly, and efficient, with servers moving like seasoned pros through a packed floor. Even reviewers who debate details tend to agree the experience feels authentic and bustling — generous portions, plenty of movement, and a distinctly “Miami” energy. . Now, the menu. This is where Versailles flexes. The ropa vieja is deeply savory, shredded beef soaked in tomato, pepper, and spice — soulful, nostalgic, and unapologetically rich. The vaca frita brings contrast: crispy edges giving way to citrus-marinated beef, loud with garlic and lime, the kind of plate that demands a cold drink and zero regrets. And yes, the famed Cuban sandwich — pressed, golden, and stacked — still earns its reputation when it’s firing on all cylinders. These dishes show up repeatedly in reviews and for good reason: they taste like history served hot. . Don’t skip the adjoining bakery, either — a ritual stop for pastries, croquetas, and a punchy cafecito that snaps you back to life. The attached local buzz gives the whole experience an extra layer of authenticity, the kind you can’t manufacture with trendy lighting or curated playlists. . The Damage: surprisingly civilized. Expect a comfortable $$ range with hearty portions that often outsize their price tag — one reason travelers keep returning even as the crowds grow. . The Verdict: Versailles isn’t trying to be modern Miami — it is Miami. Bold flavors, unapologetic personality, and an atmosphere thick with nostalgia make this a five-star, masterful experience. Come hungry, lean into the noise, and let the rhythm of Little Havana take the wheel.
We celebrated my mom’s birthday at Versailles, and it couldn’t have been sweeter. My family and I enjoyed their classic dishes. The kind of flavors you grow up with and always come back to. The team surprised us with a warm “Happy Birthday” tres leches treat that made the moment feel extra special. It’s a very family‑oriented spot and they made our celebration feel genuinely cared for.
You will leave happier than when you arrived. Founder Felipe Valls Sr. long standing goal achieved! The restaurant and location are genius, restaurant, walk up “La Ventanita”, bakery and outdoor, casual seating make one imagine the storied 50+ year history. We went for lunch on a Monday. The large restaurant was packed with mostly locals. The Mojito with a piece of sugar cane was one of the best my partner has ever had. The food was very good. Ceviche, a Sampler Plate with Empañadas, Croquettes and Fried Yucca started us off. Mains were the Specialty Cuban Sandwich, and a Mixed Plate of Roasted Pork, Black Beans, Rice, Boiled Yucca and Plantains. We ended with Coconut Flan and Cuban Creme Caramel. And of course a Cafe Cubano. A feast that exceeded our expectations. Finally, prices are incredibly reasonable driving great value. Lives up to its’ motto “The World’s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant”. If you have never been, add this to your must visit list including a Mojito as well. We will next go on a busy evening as I imagine that this is a very lively place once the sun sets.
We went to Versailles for the Cuban Sunday breakfast buffet, and we were pleasantly surprised. The flavors were very well balanced—nothing was overly salty, which we really appreciated. Even the fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and honestly one of the best I’ve had. The service was good, attentive and friendly. The croquettes and picadillo were especially tasty, and of course we ordered café con leche, which was just right. My last visit was back in 2023, and I can definitely say there’s been an improvement. There was more variety of desserts this time, and the Quin dim was the best—absolutely delicious
We visited Versailles Restaurant after reading so many amazing reviews over 26,000 people have rated this place! As tourists, we decided we couldn’t miss it, even though we had to take an Uber for almost half an hour from our hotel. It was totally worth it! Even though the restaurant was very busy, everything was well-organized and smooth. The place was super clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious the rice was fragrant and tasty, and the meat was tender and full of flavor. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the great quality and generous portions. After our meal, we decided to order dessert and coffee, and the staff kindly guided us to their own bakery, which is located right on the same property. The desserts there were fantastic fresh, flavorful, and high quality, and the coffee was rich and smooth. The dessert we ordered was one of their most famous ones, and it’s meant to be enjoyed with their strong Cuban coffee. Since I ordered black tea instead, it felt a bit too sweet for me but that’s just a pairing thing! We also ordered a few items to go, and even though we ate them later when they were cold, they were still very tasty and kept their quality, so we wouldn’t deduct any points for that. The only thing I didn’t really like was that the area for adding the tip was already highlighted with a pen, as if to remind customers not to forget it. I think that’s unnecessary because most people already leave a tip unless they’re unhappy with the service, which definitely wasn’t the case here. Overall, this restaurant truly deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Everything from the food to the service and desserts was excellent. We really enjoyed our experience, and we’ll definitely come back here next time we visit Miami.
I LOVE this place. Best mojitos I've had. We ordered the Shrimp in Creole Sauce and Roast Pork Cuban Style. The shrimp was cooked very well, but I ultimately preferred the roast pork dish. In the past I've ordered the Churrasco Versailles steak and that has prob been my favorite dish. Also make sure to stop by the bakery after for some espresso and baked goods. All were tasty and affordable
BEYOND!!! Vaca frita was out of this world. Perfect combination of juicy and crispy, not to mention ultra flavorful. Stuffed plantain appetizer and ceviche were nothing special. I adored the ham cheese croquettes. The service is fast and friendly. The decor is fabulous. It has the same welcoming feeling as a diner while still having a bit of “special occasion” edge. The prices are approachable. I will be back!
The Versailles Restaurant is typically a must-visit in Miami; it's an iconic spot located in the heart of the city. It features a traditional coffee shop and its distinctive walk-up window where they serve Cuban coffee and the classic Cuban toast. It's a traditional restaurant that preserves its Cuban roots, maintaining a completely Latin and welcoming atmosphere. It's evident that people from diverse cultures frequent the restaurant to experience what Miami is all about. The food they offer has an exquisite flavor, complemented by their exceptional pastries. As a historic establishment, they have a great opportunity to continue growing and reaching even higher standards.
YUP! Versailles lives up to allllll the hype! 🔥 Amazing cuban sandwich. Empanadas were super flavorful and extra crispy. 😋 OF COURSE we had to get the cafe con leche. Make sure to get it with evaporated milk; it gives it an extra richness and creaminess. We visited La Ventanita to get some drinks to go as well! On our last day in Miami, we went back again for one last round of Cafe con Leches and empanadas. We also tried the Media Noche that time and it was SO delicious. 🔥 With all the popularity, definitely expect a wait. We waited 30 mins but it felt like less than that. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was sweet and kind to the whole family, but she didn’t come around much to see if we needed anything. Might’ve been covering too many tables. Not sure but it was still a great time.
Absolutely phenomenal. A good friend of ours that’s a local in Miami suggested this location. Indeed it is magical. The bar staff outside on the patio was wonderful and the drinks were spectacular. Once inside, Nelson was an amazing server, and he guided us through a very extensive menu to point out some of the best sampler dishes to try. Each of them were spectacular. I wish I would’ve taken more photos of everything we ordered, but it was all 100% perfect. I was absolutely moved to see the Cuban community come together in such a unique display. To see the local community, and world arrive at the doorstep at this location was really a sight to see. They might have amazing food, but the culture and feel, an overall vibe of the staff was something I have rarely seen in the United States. Truly a community restaurant to every definition. Highly worth attending, and we will absolutely make this a stop every time we come to Miami for a cruise. We headed over to the bakery for dinner and had an exceptional time there. Don’t miss both locations since they’re adjacent.
There's a reason people wait in line to eat here. The food is magnificent. This restaurant lets the food speak for itself. The Cuban Sandwich is sooooo good. The bread is perfectly thin but still soft and crispy. The mixture of ham and roasted pork, cheese, mustard, and pickles was just an incredible combo. The table bread they gave us were so buttery and warm I could've just eaten that and be satisfied. The Paella Versailles was also very delicious! Just note that it takes 45 minutes to make so order it right away if you plan on getting it. Everything was 😙🤌🏼 I can't wait to come back to try the pastries at their bakery
As always a reasonable wait is expected. Roberto H was extremely hospitable, his deliverance and well orchestrated food timing on point! Food from the Cod Croquettes, Crispy Mariquitas, Caldo Gellego was amazing!!!!! Crispy Fried Whole Snapper and Breaded Steak with Moros and Fried Plantains couldn't get any more traditional... Great flavors, as of my perception from everyone that I was approached by from the hostess all very hospitable. Thank you Versailles Team for a great experience. See you soon Roberto
Bayside is a fantastic place to spend a few hours in Miami, especially if you enjoy having a cocktail during the day and soaking in the waterfront atmosphere. The bar area is lively, with great music and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to unwind and enjoy the view. Service is generally friendly and efficient, and there are plenty of drink options, so you can always find something that suits your taste. The only real downside is the parking: it is very convenient and close, but it costs around 10 USD per hour, which can make a longer visit quite expensive. Overall, it is an excellent spot for daytime cocktails and people‑watching, as long as you are prepared for the high parking fees.
Wow! All around what a perfect experience. Im a Yankee who doesn't know great Cuban food, but I loved everything I had here. One of the best Caesar salads and dressing. All the prices were beyond reasonable. The empanadas, Cortadito, guava pastries are to die for. The ambiance and service feels upscale. This place is beyond words. We will be back. There is so much more I want to try.
Very good restaurant! The food was delicious. I ate the fried pork chunks. They were so tender and flavorful. I definitely would eat and order it again. The plantains were sweet and the white rice was very good. The rest of my family didn’t leave anything, which says a lot! This place is family oriented. There were a lot of families eating which is nice to see! The waitress was very nice. Thank you for the fabulous meal.
We loved Versailles Restaurant! We knew how famous this restaurant was and have been wanting to try it out for some time now. A small part of me wondered if Versailles may turn out to be a tourist trap but Versailles delivered as promised. Our table ordered the Roast Pork Loin Au Jus, the Braised Oxtail, and the Special Cuban Sandwich, with a variety of appertizers, including the Assorted Croquet. Every dish was superb! We especially loved the Roast Pork so much we ordered another one. It was so well prepared...tender and juicy. My wife is a connoisseur of Latin food and she said the Cuban Sandwich was the best she's had. Besides the wonderful delicious Cuban cuisine the service was fast and professional. The food came so fast. Also, don't worry about them not taking reservations...the wait to be seated was not long...even though it was packed. Extras to this restaurant was the little window side shop where you can buy hot hand held foods like Croquets and coffee. And also a full Bakery. Versailles Restaurant has it all.
This is a must go if you’re in the Miami area. This is not just a tourist trap. First off, there is free parking. This is a godsend in Little Havana because parking is either scarce or expensive. When you first walk in you’re greeted by vintage decor that matches 70’s Miami vibe. Everything looks updated but you will notice a mix of locals and tourists here. There was plenty of old school Cubans here eating and hanging out. The prices are incredible and I order plenty of food for only $25. I also decided to take a few pastellitos with me, they do have a great danish. I ordered the staple breakfast and service was quick and simple. The waitress recommended the watermelon juice and it was perfect to go walking in the hot sun later. I will most likely visit this place each time I come back even though there are so many good restaurants in the area.
BEST CUBAN RESTAURANT IN MIAMI!!! My family and I recently took a vacation to Miami this past week, and decided to try this restaurant out, based upon online reviews. We had previously been to Havana 1957, which is also a very good Cuban food restaurant. No reservation was needed, and the attire was casual. We arrived for dinner at around 7 PM on a Thursday night. We were immediately shown to a table, and our server greeted us within about five minutes of arrival. The server‘s name was Elizabeth, and she was very polite, friendly, and helpful. The ambience was very nice, and the restaurant had a nice open feel to it. My wife and daughter ordered strawberry daiquiris, which looked very nice, and I had a regular Mojito and a mango Mojito. All of our drinks had a little bit more lime than we usually prefer, but the drinks were good nonetheless. For appetizers, we had the assorted empanadas and the Yuca fries with cilantro sauce. The sauce was amazing! The empanadas and Yuca fries were good.m as well. For entrées, my daughter had the braised oxtail, served with White rice and sweet plantains. I tried her oxtail, and it was as good as any I had eaten previously when I lived in Cuba. My wife had the Classic Cuban sampler which included White Rice, Black Beans, “Picadillo” Ground Beef, Roast Pork, Sweet Plantains, Ham Croquette, Cuban Tamale, and Cassava with Cuban Mojo. She enjoyed everything on her plate. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Picadillo ground beef, however. Everything else on her plate was similar to mine. I had the Criollo Cuban sampler which included Yellow Rice, Black Beans, “Ropa Vieja” Shredded Beef in Tomato Sauce, Fried Pork Chunks, Ham Croquette, Sweet Plantains, Cuban Tamale, and Cassava with Cuban Mojo. Every. Single. Thing. On. My. Plate. Was. Delicious!!! My son had the Breaded Beefsteak Milanese with Moros Rice and Sweet Plantains (we think that’s what he had). He is a picky eater, and this was what he was able to try. He ate about half of it, but said it was not for him. I did not try it. As we were finishing up dinner, live musicians in traditional clothing came around and were singing and playing their guitars beautifully. It made the restaurant liven up and made it feel very festive! After dinner, we decided to go to the adjacent bakery, which is also a part of that restaurant. The bakery selection was out of this world! I can’t tell you exactly what we ordered, because honestly, I don’t know the name of everything, it just looked tasty, so we purchased it (see pastries in the box). We had a chocolate eclair, a guava tart, a powdered sugar pastry, a half-and-half cookie, a mini pecan pie, and a dulce de leche pastry. I also had a small cup of Cuban coffee with sugar, which was amazing! All of the pastries were delicious, and we all tried a little of everything. Our dinner came to $174.70 before tip, and our pastries and coffee came to $44.43 before tip. This amazing restaurant was absolutely worth every penny, and I could not offer a higher recommendation for a Cuban restaurant than this! If you are coming to Miami and want to try an amazing Cuban restaurant, then this is the place for you. I 1000% recommend this to anyone, and we will absolutely be coming back here next time we come through Miami! Definitely “Best of Miami” material!!!
We had a wonderful Cuban dinner experience at Versailles. The outdoor patio/bar waiting area and mojito was a nice way to start the evening. We only had a 20 min wait. The menu was extensive. We had the ceviche and shrimp cocktail appetizers then a Cuban sampler and the creole snapper. Everything was fresh, tasty and well seasoned! The service was excellent. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the portions generous. The only thing I wish they had a better selection of hot sauce. Tabasco just doesn’t do it.
Today, the service and food was amazing and deserves 5 stars. Two nights ago, the service was trash, the food was dehydrated, and this place deserved zero stars. Thank you Jorge for making our breakfast experience incredible. You sir, are doing an incredible job. Versailles needs to put you in charge on training servers on how to be with their customers. Respectful, polite, kind, thoughtful, and on top of your tables as you should be. Incredible service. Ask for Jorge because he was amazing.
Sensational. Went for croquettas, and a simple steak, rice, beans and plantains. Black beans were world class, almost creamy. Best Mojito I've had (not too sweet), had an empanada from the bakery on the way out just to try - and it was stuffed to the gills with delicious shredded chicken. Friendly and efficient service. Prices insanely cheap. Go.
We finally made time to eat here for dinner around 7:00 and it’s was so good. We have talked about going here for years when we’re in Miami from Ohio. We had about a 15 minute wait but you can always grab a drink at the outside bar while you’re waiting. Don’t forget to stop by their bakery on your way out. Everything was excellent and service was quick given F1 was in town and they were slammed. The prices were ridiculously low for the quality of food, we ordered a ton for under $60.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Miami. The food is all amazing and very original. The staff are also all great. Depending on when you go, there will likely be a line and they do not do reservations. However, you usually can get a drink or yummy mojito by the outdoor bar. I highly recommended the Oxtail (the best you’ve ever had), the yuca frita & the ropa vieja. The flan dr coco & the pastelitos were also really good!!!
Versailles is truly a Miami landmark, and it lives up to its reputation in so many ways. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of energy, offering a classic Cuban vibe that feels both authentic and welcoming. The service was exceptional—friendly, fast, and attentive from start to finish. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the food. While it was good and satisfying, I expected just a bit more flavor and wow factor considering the restaurant’s fame. Still, it's definitely worth visiting for the experience, and I’ll be back to try more dishes.
Dining at Versailles Restaurant in Miami was a true cultural and culinary experience. The interior has a classic charm, complete with elegant chandeliers that give the space a timeless, iconic feel. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated, and the courtyard provided a comfortable and inviting place to wait, setting the tone for a great meal ahead. The menu is extensive, filled with all the Cuban classics you could want. Portions are generous and prices are more than fair, especially considering the restaurant’s popularity and location. The ropa vieja was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the croquettes were hearty with just the right touch of smoky ham. The cassava, plantains, and yellow rice were also cooked to perfection—each dish felt like a true taste of Cuban home cooking. Don’t miss the fresh baked Cuban desserts and their wide range of coffee selections—the perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend visiting this Miami landmark—it’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a piece of Cuban-American history.
Versailles Café and Bakery is an absolute Miami classic, and it definitely lives up to the hype. The guava pastries are incredibly fresh and delicious, and the croquettes are some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The café con leche is fantastic — smooth, rich, and perfectly made every time. It can be a little confusing at first since there’s both a walk-up window and a full bakery area. I’m still not entirely sure what the walk-up window serves, but we went into the bakery each time and everything we ordered was wonderful. If you’re in Miami, this spot is a must. Delicious food, great coffee, and that iconic local charm. Highly recommend!
There is a reason this establishment is a destination. If you are in Miami, this is a must to enjoy. From coffee to dessert, your palate deserves this experience. Update 1/2026: I brought friends this time. They absolutely loved it. The crème brûlée is a must. Food was phenomenal and walked the complete location. The pastries look amazing and had coffee at the coffee bar. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. Highly recommended.
Great authentic Cuban food and fantastic service! Ordered the Calle Ocho Special and the Versailles Special sandwiches, side order of fries, and a Cafe con Leche!! And to finish it all off, Guayava pastelitos and Cuban flan! I have been coming here for years and picking up pastries for family and friends often. A local institution for a reason.
Very spacious and the atmosphere is beautiful. Plenty of tables. The food was delicious. The steak had no flavor. The oxtail was delicious the sauce is marinated just right. The shrimp meal was delicious in the marinated sauce it was made in. The steak and cheese was meals was also delicious.
An Italian on vacation in Miami can’t miss out on Cuban food! A charming and unique restaurant with traditional decor and the chance to enjoy live music from Cuban artists. Friendly staff and lovely hostesses, ready to serve you with the warm hospitality that perfectly matches the vibe of the place. Great spot for a meal! Portions are generous, and the cuisine truly captures the essence of Cuban flavors. The paella and empanadas are highly recommended.
Delicious!!! Amazing service & quick wait! The food also came out really fast! We ordered a variety of food & everything was so good (and I’m picky but tried everything 10/10) The drinks were super good too. I would recommend this place to anyone! 5 stars all around. Between the drinks, food & dessert, my entire family enjoyed this place
Versailles Restaurant Absolutely incredible. The cortadito was deep, rich, and perfectly balanced bold without bitterness. The guava pastry was delicate and flaky, not overly sweet, and the unexpected burst of cheese in the center was a delightful surprise. We also tried the spinach and queso empanada and were genuinely impressed: fresh spinach, beautifully melted cheese with a satisfying pull, and a crisp, well-executed pastry. I sat outside at a small bistro table, barefoot, soaking in the atmosphere it felt relaxed, authentic, and grounding. This wasn’t just a meal; it was a moment. A must-stop for Cuban coffee and pastries in Miami.
**Colby Restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. Due to its high popularity and large number of visitors, a reservation is required or guests may need to wait approximately half an hour. It is a wonderful and distinctive dining experience, and a highly recommended stop for anyone wishing to experience Colombian cuisine.**
I grew up in Miami so I am biased. They used to bring out a basket of garlic bread, complimentary. Obviously the place took off to the stratosphere… so quality has come down a bit. Still very good. But on a Friday AFTERNOON my food wasn’t even hot. Mojito needed to be mixed (still the best in town). Prices have gone up, but still a great value compared to everywhere else. Line goes fast. Recommended! It’s iconic.
I love exploring new cuisines and spots. Then I came to know this is one of the oldest and most famous Cuban bakery in and around Miami. We tried bakery items like "Pastelito de Guayaba, cheese pastelito, empanada. Out of these cheese one was good. Since this is first time, I tried it once and felt its taste is okay.
I went to this local legend for breakfast. The cortado was the best espresso I’ve had in a while, and the side of bread was delicious. The rest of my steak and eggs meal was pretty bland, and I wouldn’t get it again. No wait at 8 am when I arrived and still no wait when I left around 8:30 am. The place still evokes a retro mom & pop feel, even down to the prices.
As a tourist, the hardest part of exploring Miami is trying to figure out where to eat. There are so many choices and all of them have top ratings, so how do you choose? Fortunately we chose Versailles, and we were rewarded! It has everything - easy parking, Cuban menu, excellent food, awesome drinks, and a bakery next door for dessert Do yourself a favor. Go to Versailles. You won't regret it
Decided to bring the family here during our vacation in August. The place has great food and atmosphere, along with a Mariachi band. Dielker was our server, who didn't speak English very well, which wasn't a big deal, because I spoke enough Spanish to make ordering easier; however, he failed to check up on us to ensure the food was good, or bring us refills on our drinks until we asked. He did provided water upon request, but without any ice. The place does not have a military discount. I would still recommend stopping by for the experience and great food.
This is one of the top rated restaurants in Little Havana, Miami and I see why! The decor is beautiful, food is delicious and nice ambiance. The server spoke mostly to my friends in Spanish so I’m assuming service was good. Mojitos were ok, a bit too sweet for my liking. But every dish that I was served was delicious 😋 I enjoyed the bean soup, tostones with shrimp, seafood paella, and cheese flan! Live entertainment was a treat.
This place is evidently a Miami institution, so I obviously had to try when in town. The restaurant itself is quite large, and the wait moves quickly. Service is friendly but very efficient. I got the roast pork Cuban style, and it was tender and flavorful. The pork itself was a bit salty, but the boiled yucca balanced the saltiness well.
Versailles is a cultural and historic landmark in Miami and holds deep significance within the Cuban community. While the overall food quality has declined in recent years, it still shines in certain areas...especially the empanadas, which remain some of the best. The staff at the take-away counter are consistently friendly, efficient, and welcoming, which keeps locals coming back. It may be just average cuban food but its cultural importance and a few standout items make it worth a visit.
Highlights: historic restaurant vibe, food value, delicious sweets/pastries, free tap water Lowlight: cold service, okay entrees To clarify regarding the service - the service is quite timely within the restaurant. It is just that this place is a tourist trap and the servers are all serving high volume customers. Therefore, you will not be getting a southern-hospitality service on your visit. The movie “Chef” brought me here to this restaurant and thoroughly delivered on the vibe seen in the movie. I ordered the Whole Fried Snapper (w/ Yuca) and Cuban Sandwich. The Fried Snapper was good overall though I wish there was more seasoning/flavoring, either through seasoning the fish or via the batter. The fish certainly tasted fresh. As for the cubano, I would forgo this one as I think you can get better ones elsewhere in Miami. If you’re looking to just check it off your list, this one isn’t too bad. My sweet tooth had me ordering the Guava Cheesecake and it definitely topped this visit for a West Coast foodie like myself. I also got the Guava Turnover and the Guava Cream Cheese Turnover for the road. Both are excellent - especially paired with a Cortadito (no lattes fyi) The value you get for your food is darn good here so that’s what had me giving it a four star. Definitely a huge consideration for those visiting Miami and want a somewhat historic Cuban food experience.
I heard this Cuban restaurant is famous in Miami so I decided to go. I got in from the bakery side and one of the customers of the bakery taught me I can go to the restaurant through the hallway. Restaurant was about 2h to closing time. Some vacant tables, waiters and waitresses were keep back and forth in front of me but no one greet or take me to the table even talk to me. I was standing more than 10mins. I asked one of them "may I dine in?'' Ignored. Probably she doesn't speak English. In Miami it happens often. I was checking the menu till someone take me to the table. But no one. 10mins later finally one waitress asked me in English "take out?'' I said dine in. She let me sit the table nearby. I didn't know the system that just take an any table and waiter/waitress comes to get an order??? It got me confuse. I don't recommend to get in from the bakery side lol food was good though. Also after eating at the restaurant I went to the bakery to buy some pastries. Again, ladies in there didn't speak English so I used the google translate to Spanish.
Came here as a tourist, first time trying Cuban food in Miami and it did not disappoint. Again, my taste buds dont have much to compare it to, but everything was delicious and well portioned - good value for money. Only gripe was the Cuban sandwich was a bit stale. We also came on a monday, so there wasn't really a wait, but the restaurant was absolutely freezing. The avocado was delicious though lol
Stopped by Versailles Restaurant for a pastelito de guayaba y queso and a café con leche because apparently I’m doing a full Miami pastry tour now. First off, the pastelitos here are the real deal. Softer, flakier, and the cheese tastes like it actually has a passport. 😂 The guava was fresh, the texture was perfect, and it didn’t feel like it had been sitting around waiting for its big break. And the best part? The price was better than at Karla’s. Always a win in Miami where your coffee can cost as much as your car insurance. Now, the café con leche… whew. That thing was STRONG. Like, “I can see sounds now” strong. 💪☕️ I get why people love it. It’s bold and full of flavor. But personally, I prefer the smoother coffee at Karla’s. My heart rate definitely disagreed, though. Still, Versailles never disappoints. Iconic spot, top-tier pastelitos, and coffee that’ll keep you awake through the next hurricane season.
Good experience, solid food, friendly service, dated but charming interior. We enjoyed our visit. It’s nothing to write home about, but it was interesting visiting what they claim is the world’s most famous Cuban restaurant. Ox Thai was excellent, but Paella Versailles was not good though in my view, perhaps, other paellas are better.
I was really looking forward to coming back to Versailles on 8th Street. I ate here about five years ago and it was an amazing experience, so we even took a $25 Uber from Miami Beach to come back. Unfortunately, this visit was a disappointment. From the start, the service felt cold and impersonal. When we arrived, the hostess asked for my name, wrote it down, and that was it. No smile, no “welcome,” no estimate until I asked how long it would be. She said 30 minutes; we were seated in about 15, so the wait itself wasn’t the issue—it was the lack of warmth. Once we sat down, our server said hello and immediately jumped to, “What can I get you—drinks, appetizers, are you ready?” She didn’t walk us through the menu, didn’t mention any specials, and didn’t seem interested in helping us choose. We told her we definitely wanted ropa vieja and asked for a seafood recommendation. She suggested the shrimp al ajillo. The shrimp dish was the biggest letdown. The garlic sauce had a strange, thick consistency and almost no flavor—adding salt didn’t really save it. Several of the shrimp were undercooked and still a bit translucent, which is not what you want with seafood. The rice also didn’t taste fresh; there were some crunchy bites like it had been sitting for a while. The tostones were okay but not hot and fresh—I can honestly make better ones at home. On the positive side, the ropa vieja was excellent, exactly what I remembered and easily the best thing we ate. Both the Caesar salad and the Versailles salad were also very good. Overall, it ended up being a very average meal with a few highs and a lot of missed details—especially for a place with this reputation. Between the underwhelming service, the disappointing shrimp dish, and the long/expensive trip from the Beach, I’d give this experience three stars. Sadly, based on this visit, I probably won’t be coming back.
It was too salty. I was really looking forward to this place on my first night in Miami. I ordered the vaca frita and was looking forward to what the hype was about. While the plantains were delicious, the rice came out bland and the shredded beef was dry and overly salted. I tried squeezing the whole lemon over it, I tried drinking 2 glasses of water, but the saltiness of the beef was borderline inedible. I refused to believe this is how the dish is supposed to taste. Someone must accidentally spilled a whole bottle of salt into my plate. Needless to say, I took it to go after a couple of bites. I tried to finish the food at the hotel but that much sodium is not worth the risk. Very unfortunate experience on my end.
I had high hopes for Versailles given its iconic status, but unfortunately, the food just didn’t live up to the hype. The chicken sandwich was dry and lacked flavor, and the Cuban sandwich was… fine. Nothing special—definitely not memorable. The avocado salad was especially disappointing—it was literally just slices of avocado with some onions. Not what I’d call a salad. The only real highlight of the meal was the fried calamari—crispy, well-seasoned, and actually delicious. Overall, it felt more like a tourist stop than a must-visit dining experience. Not terrible, but definitely not what I expected from such a famous spot.
I was staying at a hotel and Googled places nearby. The ratings were high so I chose to give it a shot. I ordered for delivery. My hopes were high but sadly was disappointed. The Cuban sandwich was dry and subpar, the chicken with the rice and sweet plantains were ok. The shrimp plantain cups were delicious. Maybe next time I'll try dining at the location instead.
Overrated restaurant overall. Sandwich wasn’t amazing and barely had any bacon. Came with fries which could not be substituted which was a bit of a joke as it’s not hard not putting fries with a sandwich. They tasted and looked like the ones from McDonalds, not fresh or homemade. Plantains were decent but not great. The cafe cubano was the only great thing. Service was fair.
This place is pretty huge and the inside is pretty nice. The waitress we had was super friendly and attentive. I ended up getting a virgin pina colada that was yummy. As for the food, I feel like the meal I got was just fine. The steak didn’t have much seasoning and the beans were kinda bland. I did like the rice and sweet plantains. I also got cheesecake to go and wasn’t thrilled by it. If I am ever in Miami again I would definitely give them another try because the menu is actually vast and there are many other things to choose from.
Not my favorite place to begin with but I agreed to go with my friends. If you have a car you care about please do not park in that ridiculous parking space they have right outside the restaurant. I came out of the restaurant and found my car hit and scratched. A witness told me that a man was attempting to park but couldn't make it and basically hit my car and ended up on top of it. I asked the restaurant for the footage so that I can report it to the police if there was a visible tag, but they said no and did not bother to help with anything at all. The manager did not come to talk to me, the workers were pretty much being very dismissive as if it was not a big deal. Definitely not returning.
I’m from Connecticut and was really looking forward to trying this place since I’ve read so many good things about it. Unfortunately the food was average to say the least. I’ve had much better Cuban food in New York City. One of my meals was given to us COLD and they had to remake it. We waited another 20 minutes and it definitely was not worth the wait. I tried 3 different dishes, I wouldn’t recommend any that I had. I would like to add that the pastries and coffee at the take out counter was excellent and if I ever come back to this place I would only go for the coffee and pastries.
Yuck. Food was cold, nothing good about it. I had some shredded beef type stew. Husband got the lamb. It all came out COLD! The waiter was busy so we ate, paid and left. When we got up a table next to us asked how we liked it. I said we didn’t. She said it’s a hit or miss at this place. I feel if you like mediocre food you may rate this as a 4 or 5. But anyone who knows good food will not be impressed.
We were so excited to dine here after being told how good the food was. We were sooo disappointed. First, while we were waiting for our table, we attempted to buy a pastry. No such luck after waiting at the counter (not in line) for 10 minutes. We never were waited on! Next, our server Louisa, has the personality of cold oatmeal. No attempt whatsoever to make us feel welcome. In fact, we felt just the opposite. I ordered a sangria and a cup of black bean soup to start and then my husband and I both ordered a Cuban sandwich. Louisa brought the drink, a minute later the soup and then 30 seconds later, the sandwiches. The soup was decent but not great. The sandwiches were not good; not hot and the pork tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for days. We watched Louisa wait on other tables around us and she appeared to be very friendly to those that spoke Spanish but treated us gringos as if she couldn’t get rid of us fast enough. Save your time and money and go to Puerto Sagua on Collin’s Avenue in south beach. I had the pork stew with rice and plantains and my husband had the roasted chicken, rice and plantains. Much better food and very friendly service.
The food has lost the quality it had years ago. I ordered a "diplomatico" dessert, and the size was ridiculous($4.75). And the tamale tasted awful. They used to include small tostadas with every order, but they don't even do that anymore. And the prices are outrageous. They need to hire qualified staff; I think that in their quest to create job opportunities, they're hiring just about anyone.
