Krust Pizza & Bourbon Bar Middletown Reviews
Came here to watch a family member play basketball for Wesleyan. He made dinner reservations for all of us to eat after the game. The pizza is very good, along with the arugula salad. Ordered hot wings to start and I was told that it was served with ranch dressing (who the heck does that?!) instead of the classic blue cheese. I was very surprised when I ate the wings - it was very good. And the ranch dressing did not taste like ranch dressing at all. Would come back!
Very good pizza, had the equivalent of a hot honey and a Hawaiian. Both very good and crust was just right, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Pizzas are personal size which is nice, if you’re with someone else you can try a couple! Drinks were good too.
Fantastic happy hour menu and prices, including food and drink. Huge selection of bourbons. The happy hour craft cocktails were delicious and not just run of the mill. We watched the bartender make/finish the drinks with fresh ingredients. The wood-fired oven is there for all to see (and it generates heat) and it put out great charred New Haven style pizza. As a pizza snob, I was very impressed. With the happy hour start that we had, the dinner was unbelievably affordable. The place has a nice vibe, and as it filled up, so did the noise level. The interior is largely wood - walls, floors, and tables all made from a similar wood, allowing sound to bounce across the room. The place felt vibrant! I will absolutely be back at Krust.
AWESOME happy hour 5-7pm. Love how it’s extended hours (I work until 6pm and most happy hours stop at that time). We pretty much got every HH app, and everything hit the spot! Cheesy garlic bread, wings, cauliflower, and the hot dog all hit the spot. 100% will definitely be back. Kiyah was attentive and super friendly. Thank you!
It has been a few years since the last time I've dined here & I have to say that I feel it has improved! The options have expanded for both food & drink and quality of both upgrading. I really enjoyed my meal, the staff was pleasant and knowledgeable and I'm now looking forward to returning. I appreciated staff being able to make recommendations and discuss menu options.
It's located in the heart of Middletown, right opposite Eli Cannon's. The pizzas are fresh and yummy! It's New Haven style pizza, thin crust and a characteristic charring. The service was quick and courteous. They have a long list of beers and cocktails available, however, I think they're famous for their humongous selection of whiskeys and whiskey cocktails. Definitely worth a visit!
I’m really picky with my pizza, and food in general, and this place has some of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten! I don’t like the traditional pepperoni greasy family restaurant style pizza. I need my pizza to be non greasy, with tons of toppings, and flavorful - this checks all the boxes and more! Their appetizer menu is unfortunately a bit sparse (it’d be great if this place had wings). But the real star of the show is their pizza. It has a thin crust that is crispy on the outside but yet somehow magically chewy. They also have really good toppings and they allow you to split pizza flavors 1/2 and 1/2 on one pizza. First time I came here I had 1/2 sausage pizza and 1/2 mushroom arugula 😍🍕 next time I had 1/2 cheeseburger (it had a dill aioli, beef, and pickles - surprisingly tasty!) and once again the 1/2 mushroom arugula. They also have a decent local beer menu and the bourbon flights. They have a Nutella pizza too! - pricey for what it is but I enjoyed it too. They should also get more dessert options imo.
Great place for young people and the pizza enthusiasts! They have a book .... a book! Of whiskeys, burbouns, scotchs all kinds of dark liqour. Pizza was great also. For my taste though it was just a little wet/soupy in the middle but that's it other wise great blend of flavors and fresh ingredients. Try it out !
Went with friends. From walking in we all felt welcomed. The service is great. Server shared information. The owner stopped by our table. Salads, chicken wings great pizza...cold beer, great cocktails. A fun place.
Krust is great in that it offers some uniquely flavored thin crust (and I mean THIN, thin) pizza - pictured here is sweet & spicy roni and dill bacon and ranch. Surprisingly, the dill bacon pizza was spicier than the sweet & spicy roni, but both flavors were good. They only offer one size, but this one (at $17) was enough to feed two adults with no leftovers. The wait for takeout at 4:45 on a Saturday was only 20 minutes.
Two words - craft cocktails & AMAZING pizza ( actually that's like 4 or 5 words! ). With the menu that's changing daily Krust's offer rotates around locally sourced ingredients and small batch beer. The restaurant delivers a very cozy personalized experience, with a true CT touch. Pizza is always incredibly tasty and creative, beers surprise and delight and cocktails are strong and fun. All wooden interior and lots of community table seating encourage conversation and give the restaurant it's unique look. Took one star off for take out - pizza was much smaller than when ordered table side.
Pizza was somehow soggy & burnt, not sure how thats even a thing Atmosphere was nice, but food needs work. Crisp up those pies and less sugar in the sauce Wasn't impressed, likely wont return
We go to Krust regularly and have a great time, but tonight was an exception. Not only was our server, Kiyah, inattentive, but rude. Once we were sat and ordered, she did not bother to check up. After 40 minutes we asked about our food to which she replied "I didnt realize you were in a rush". As we were leaving, not even out the door, we could hear her complaining to the bar about us. Again we really do enjoy Krust and we hope tonight's experience is the exception.
I was excited to find a Gluten free/Vegan pizza place near me, but so disappointed when I got my pizza!! Crust tasted ok but little sauce, ?? Cheese. I don’t know what they used for cheese but as you can see it was very scarce. I counted the peppers as there were only a few. I feel if they got a good quality vegan mozzarella with the brick oven taste it would be much better! (Try Vio life it melts great) At 20$ it was more like an appetizer than a meal, we split it and still was hungry. Krust Pizza and Bourbon Bar is located on 686 Main St Middletown ct 06457
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally address a serious incident that occurred during our visit to your restaurant on February 12th. We chose your establishment based on the gluten-free safety protocols advertised on your website, including dedicated ovens and non-contaminated utensils. As my wife has celiac disease, these measures are essential for her health. Unfortunately, your staff served my wife a regular pizza instead of the gluten-free one she ordered. She consumed half of the meal before the error was identified. Consequently, she is now facing immediate health risks and potential long-term autoimmune complications. We were seated at Table 8 and our waiter was Alex J. It is deeply concerning that such a critical failure in safety protocols occurred, and we feel the situation was handled with a complete lack of competence. Given the severity of this incident and the health risks involved, we are currently considering all available options, including legal action regarding FDA regulations. I expect a prompt response detailing how you intend to address this failure in your safety protocols and what steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen to other patrons James V
