La Boca Middletown Reviews
Spent the weekend in Connecticut… or should I say spent the weekend at La Bocco 😭 Between Anastasia and Steven the Vegan (who makes the BEST lemon drops), I’m about to start leaving Pennsylvania every weekend. They’re both truly remarkable people and I recommend this place to everyone. And listen… $5 Coronas in a state that charges per bottle?? I’ll take it 🍻🔥
We always enjoy our food here. Items are well prepared. Portions are big. Atmosphere is lovely. We only eat pescaterian food here because we can only eat halal meat. And there are plenty of options for us with shrimp etc. Or we can order a dish and ask them to make it with shrimp only. There's is open mic on Wednesdays in the bar area. But we don't drink so we stay in the dining hall side. But it gets crowded quick there after dinner time. Adding some pictures of our food.
Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. They had place on the patio but it got windy so we moved inside. Service was a bit slow despite the fact that they were not very crowded. Their tap list was pretty impressive with plenty of local craft options (I'm not used to that at Mexican eateries). We both ordered salads which were delicious and portion size was considerable. I would definitely recommend the Chipotle ranch dressing!
Amazing fresh salsa, great Trivia - but be careful how close you are to the speakers which are very loud
We haven't dined here in awhile but decided to go. This was prior to a movie so that was where we parked. Good selection of local beers and ciders. The menu had plenty to choose from. Stuffed jalapeños was the appetizer followed by a burrito mojado also known as a wet burrito. This was Stuffed with chicken and topped with a Chipotle cream sauce. More than I could eat but made for a great breakfast the next day. Service was a little slow for a slow night and had to ask for our appetizer. Overall a good experience.
The food was delicious, this place is not a authentic Mexican food style they have taken Mexican dishes and added a American style mix which gives the food unique and amazing taste.... I had 'la boca classic burrito' which was very good. It comes with corn and fried beans I think... :) the combination of that plus the flavor of the burrito gave it an assume taste. The staff was friendly an helpful. I would definitely be coming back to try one of their other dishes.
I'm sure better spot on Fridays or Saturdays but went for Sunday dinner and it was out party plus 2 other tables at 6. Server was great she was super friendly and on point but main food was mediocre at best. Good portions but just really no flavor to be honest. Had their signature burrito. Margarita was not good unfortunately. Apps were decent.
Was excited to try. Our waitress was the sweetest ,bartender was nice its more of a bar atmosphere. We went on a Friday 630 7ish Christmas department store music. I ordered tacos all 3 chicken beef and pork the meat was dry the flavor was there but not authentic my husband ordered a burrito again dry meat. My margarita was in a glass with club soda different....Not a terrible experience but wouldn't go back.
This is the second time I've been here. It's been a while since my first visit. I was super excited to go this time as I couldn't wait to get to dessert! But first there was appetizers and main meal. I should begin by saying it seems the menu is going through a transition. There are some items that are being cut. One item is chicharrones. Soooooo excited to see these on the menu only to be told they are no more. With that huge let down we opted for quesadillas, not from the app section, but from the dinner portion because they offer a crab & bacon quesadilla. This was excellent, plus it came with refried bean as well as rice. I do have to say I was under the impression that this was a late night option but that wasn't the case. After being impressed with the crab & bacon quesadilla I was really excited to get my duck burrito! Wasn't expecting this on the menu so it was a must have. I'm a big fan of duck. Fortunately service was a little slow, or times just right? Not sure if it was meant to be or slightly poor service? But either way it worked out for the best. Upon receiving my duck burrito I cut into it and saw the beautiful duck meat inside. The seasoning really came through. Super happy at this point. But the more I got into this burrito the more it became the red onion burrito. The amount of duck inside was pitiful. My first bite had the most duck in it and it was hardly that much. As the realization was coming to light that I wasn't going to get more duck than what I in my first bite I was very disappointed. How can you call it a duck burrito with barely one bite of duck inside? This was to be not the last disappointment to be. So no chicharrones, barely any duck meat in a duck burrito, but the dessert I came here for had just sold out! This was middle/ late afternoon, there was no one in here but us. How this happens is beyond me? I was informed that someone was out getting more plus other things but I wasn't interested in waiting who knows how long. At this point I was over this place. It looks great, nice patio that we sat in. Cool looking interior, but just a little uncertain of what should be on the menu. There is a fair amount of items, they probably don't need all of them. I'm sure I'll be back here again, even if it's not for a while again. It doesn't seem to be the standard fair Mexican food so I'll try more. I just won't have high expectations for them. The other meal in the pix is the steak fajitas. I had a bite of the steak and it was good. While i'm not a big steak fan it was perfectly done, least to me....
I forget that you shouldn't come here to eat but it's always an experience. Service was fine. The disposable dishes were fine- Im guessing it was for covid protocols - thats cool. Keep everyone safe, ya know? But, the food wasn't great. The queso blanco was watery and underwhelming. The special wings were scrawny and the sauce didn't contribute what it was supposed to. The relleno said that it had spinach in it but they tasted like chard and there was barely any cheese. But the real ride was the shot of Knob Creek that came in a tiny cup and had lil black flecks in the bottom. I told myself it was pepper but it wasn't. Ol quarter for scale. Drinking is fine here. Just not food. They've been open for a while however so its cool to see them still going.
If you like overpriced food and hair in your meals, this is the place for you. Do you like a wad of hair with your chips? How about some wrapped up in your wings? Had this happen multiple times so will never go here again.
they don’t Id people and don’t follow along with the cops and just ban peoole when they try to figure out what happened to them. Me being ALMOST 21 at the time clearly wasnt the issue of they're still allowing people are under 21 to do things
Sat at the bar last night 10-15 min waiting to be acknowledged by staff behind the bar for a drink, we understood that it was busy but when we finally got the attention by saying excuse me, she gave us a dirty look and turned around so we decided to leave.
The food here is honestly disappointing. If you like bland, flavorless dishes, then this might be for you, but I was not impressed. This plate alone cost $50, and it definitely wasn’t worth it. The service was terrible, and while the place advertises itself as a “Mexican restaurant,” it doesn’t feel authentic at all. The music choice was off, —it just feels like they’re profiting off Mexican culture without actually representing it.
I am beyond upset and embarrassed that I brought my family here today. The service we experienced was nothing short of disgraceful. The man who was our server — grey hair, wearing a hat — left us waiting endlessly for drinks while other tables that arrived after us were already being served. My family sat thirsty and uncomfortable, and I eventually had to get up and ask the bartender what was going on. She was the only one who showed any professionalism and took our drink order while our so-called server was nowhere to be found. When he finally came over, instead of apologizing or checking in, he rushed us, demanded to know what we ordered, and made us repeat ourselves like he couldn’t be bothered. He wasn’t helpful in the slightest, just clearly wanted to get away from our table to go to the next table. Throughout the entire meal he never once checked on us, never refilled waters, and didn’t even bother clearing plates. We even had to stack them ourselves just to keep the table tidy. The food itself was delicious — credit to the kitchen — but the service ruined the whole experience. (Tratando la rasa como si no somos nadie) To make matters worse, at the end of it all, this man shorted us and essentially stole money. That is absolutely unacceptable. It’s a shame, because this reflects poorly on the restaurant and the owner, who I’m sure works hard and had vision for this place. But one rotten employee can ruin everything, and that’s exactly what happened here. I will never return, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they enjoy being disrespected and ripped off.
My first time here and I was already skeptical. I know this wasn’t going to be real Mexican food. The salsa was tomato juice with water in it. I ordered the pork tacos. They came with chunks of fat an a little meat. I sent those back after looking at them. The wings were ok nothing spectacular. Ill go to sliders or eli cannons for those. We ordered the empanadas they were dripping with oil and when my son was done we found this in the lettuce. Please read this and don’t waste your time coming here even if it is happy hour. If i could give it negative stars i would
