Udupi Bhavan Middletown Reviews
We’ve been ordering from Udupi Bhavan for years and I recently decided to write a review after a small mix-up with our latest order. The team didn’t just correct the mistake, they went above and beyond to make sure our next order was perfect. Their care and customer service really stood out. If you’re looking for traditional Indian cuisine done well in a friendly, attentive setting, this is the place to go. We’re already looking forward to our next meal.
Udupi bhavan is a vegetarian restaurant where you can enjoy multiple dishes of Indian cuisine. Food taste is very delicious 😋 mouth watering If you are looking for vegetarian restaurant you must go there & enjoy the food at reasonable price. We ordered dosa with different stuffing ( Rava Masala dosa is the best) samosa, pakoras, chole bhature Everything was really delicious. I'm surprised that I got real authentic taste in America Which am looking for last 2 years. Good atmosphere & staff is really nice, helpful & kind. Cash & card both mode of payment are available Next to this restaurant Indian grocery store is also there Parking is available also.
It was my visit to Udupi Bhavan, and it was awesome. We tried a couple of dishes, mainly South Indian, like Plain masala dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Uttapam, Curd Rice, Besi Belli Bhat, tamarind Rice. We also Methi Matar Malai, Potato Bonda, Dahi Vada, and Vegetable Cutlet. I visited this place on a recommendation from neighbors and friends. It took me a while to drive to Middle town, which is worth it. Compared to other Indian restaurants in CT presentation of food is not good, and it has self-service. Self Service means; first, you need to order at the counter and pick your drink. Also, once the order is ready, then you need to pick it up from the counter. Also, after having food, you need to pick all your disposable dishes and throw them in the garbage bin. Generally booking is not required for this place by if you are planning to visit during the weekend or on any holiday then take your proper time as I was on time but saw a couple of folks had to wait for dining. The person who was managing the counter was very humble and of welcoming attitude. Even he suggested that what we should try, which we don't much nowadays in restaurant industries. Overall pleasant experience and cost-effective and recommended if you wanted to try some good south Indian food.
Very close to Authentic Indian food. I could even say it was one of the best I had in CT. Yep, they are not into fancy presentation or such, but what else do you expect for such price. Come to Stamford or Darian and check the price if you are very much into fancy plating and great customer service, but food will be Americanized. Drove for an hour, all the way from Fairfield, and every bite was worth it. Indians who came straight to corporate US without seeing the other side would not know how blessed they are to get this kind of authentic food. You are on the other side of the world and you are in a small number. If restaurants start serving this kind of authentic food, they will only have to be at the mercy of the community where majority believes in saving $1 = saving 70 rs. So be grateful and dont forget to tip. 15% is minimum in USA. No ducks given if anyone felt offended! 😇
Consistently delicious and fast South Indian Restaurant! The paper dosas are very crispy and made perfectly every time. We also get a refreshing mango lassi or hot chai to drink with our meal. It’s a casual, no frills interior but highly recommend for vegetarian folks or just if you’d like to try South Indian food!
A place for South Indian food lovers!! They have amazing dosas vada idli and even bisi belle bath!! Their taste is very very good! The vada were very crispy and their dosa masala was just amazing they dosa was also crispy and soft both!! Sambar and chutney gets a thumbs up!! But to be honest the payasam was not that great but over all a must try place for all good tasty and amazing South Indian food✨👍🏼
Food was authentic indian but a little too spicy for my taste.
Let me tell you about Udipi Bhavan. Incredible place. Vegetarian, totally vegetarian, and people love it. The smell when you walk in? Warm, beautiful food. It hits you and suddenly your appetite is winning again. Absolutely winning. You’ve got people going to temple, very devoted people, they come over to eat. Great people. Really great people. And the students from Wesleyan? They’re there all the time. Smart crowd. They know where the good food is. Everybody should try it. Everybody. Be patient, okay? Great food takes a little time. That’s how you know it’s serious food. And I hear, if you pay in cash, no tariffs. Zero. We like that. We love zero.
One of my favorite places for South indian dishes. Samosas are freshly prepared unlike many places offer the frozen ones. Good snacks!!
This is famous Indian restaurant in middle town, CT. Their specialty is South Indian food such as Disa, Idli, Mendu Vada. Also they have variety of North Indian food. You have to order first and then you’ll get your food. Usually they call your name and you have to go and take your food from the counter.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all. First Zero ventilation and no fan was on. Tables and everything were not even that clean. They never told when the kitchen closes and when we went to order the second time they didn’t take the order . I ordered onion masala dosa and it was a disaster . They just chopped onion and put over dosa and never cooked it. And gave the masala separately which is okay but they chopped onion was so much like to make curry. Medu vada was also fried twice and not fresh. Andra masala dosa and ghee podi masala was same and no different. Puri masala was ok but masala was dosa masala only! Would rather drive 15 min to Dosa Hut.
Potato samosa was not fresh and was clearly just a frozen reheated version you can get from any supermarket. Disappointing.
