OMG, amazing authentic indian food 😍 we enjoyed various north and south indian dishes for three days 😋 although they should improve their service as for all the 3 occurrences they never serve the food together to 3 members of my family. It was awkward that 1 person start eating and others are waiting. Even we tried to wait but it took long time and there was no point to wait. They should serve by table instead serving various tables based on whatever preparation is ready.

I just got back from Milan and I am typing this as I enjoy the mix veg Parotta that I had packed to eat in Zurich. The food, the people who serve - all too good. Zurich HSB has to learn from you guys what HSB really means. We had THE BEST vada, South Indian meals and ghee roast masala dosa. Please keep up the good work. The experience was the same back in August too.

We had an Idli, Dosa and spring roll dish and were really happy with the mild, aromatic and flavoursome spicing. Neither too salty, nor too greasy. Both, the Dosa and Idli were fresh/crisp and soft/spongy. Service personal was friendly and food was served fast. Overall we leave with a good feeling. Only picky minus point would be the slightly dated interior. But I don‘t care about that😊.

Saravana Bhavan, being a renowned vegetarian restaurant, uses a wide variety of fresh vegetables in its dishes. Based on their menu items, here are some of the vegetables commonly featured: 🥕 Core Vegetables Found in Many Dishes • Potato (Aloo): Used in Masala Dosa filling, Aloo Palak, Aloo Pepper Fry, Aloo Jeera, and Vegetable Kofta/Kurma. • Onion: A fundamental base for almost all curries, uthappams, dosas (like Onion Dosa), and biryanis. • Tomato: Used extensively in curries (masalas), Sambar, Rasam, and in Uthappam toppings. • Cauliflower (Gobi): Popular in dishes like Gobi 65, Gobi Manchurian, Gobi Masala, Gobi Mutter, and Chilli Gobi Fry. • Green Peas (Mutter): A common addition to mixed vegetable dishes, Gobi Mutter, Palak Mutter, Vegetable Biryani, and Kurma. • Carrot: Essential in mixed vegetable preparations like Vegetable Kurma, Vegetable Biryani, and Vegetable Dosa stuffing. • Beans (Green Beans): Frequently included in mixed vegetable curries and Vegetable Kurma. • Capsicum (Bell Pepper): Used in Aloo Capsicum Masala, Kadai Paneer, and Chinese/Indo-Chinese style preparations. • Spinach (Palak): The main ingredient in Palak Paneer, Aloo Palak, and Plain Palak. 🍄 Other Noteworthy Vegetables/Ingredients • Mushroom: Features in dishes like Chilli Mushroom, Mushroom Pepper Fry, and Mushroom Masala.

I had been craving proper Indian food, so when I found Saravanaa Bhavan in Milan I decided to give it a try. The place is vegetarian/vegan, clean and modestly decorated, with a calm, welcoming vibe and friendly staff. It’s part of the well-known South-Indian chain and sits at Via Flavio Baracchini 9, not far from the Duomo. I ordered a thali, plus a side of chole bhatura, vada, sambar, filter coffee — and a chana dish. To my surprise, the chole bhatura was genuinely delicious: the bhatura was puffed and soft, slightly crisp on the edges, and soaked up the chole nicely (especially impressive for a place that leans south-Indian). The rest of the thali components were solid — the sambar was aromatic, the vada had a good crunch yet stayed tender inside, and the filter coffee at the end was a comforting finish. That said, there were a few small hiccups: the menu is extensive (lots of South and North Indian options) and some of the staff speak mostly English, which made choosing a bit of a guesswork. Still, the service was reasonably prompt once I placed the order, and the portions felt generous. On the whole, Saravanaa Bhavan in Milan delivered a satisfying experience — especially for someone yearning for Indian flavors — and its unexpected strength in chole bhatura won me over. If you ever feel homesick for Indian food in Milan, this is a place worth going to.

This hits home! One of the best south indian meals i have had in milan! Taste , flavour and service it was all perfect! It was really fun to see a Bar in this traditional restaurant but that was a good kick start. Really loved the lassi and the kesari bath! I am in love with spices so i can say they do serve good flavours, the rasam and sambar was a good highlight! Probably might drink the rasam as soup😂😉 dont forget to try the crispy dosa as well! Overall this is one of the restaurants I would go back again over and over and the waitress pooja.A made it a day! Fun for me hope it is for all of you as well!

Finally the long awaited Saravanaa Bhavan is in Milano city. The restaurant represents the South Indian Cusine from Tamil Nadu. However South Indian the entire Indian community recognize this restaurant. Tried the very second day of opening and the nostalgia kicked in. The food and the taste brought back memories from home. The spread and menu is expansive and the restaurant is open all day long. You can walk in and relish any time of the day. The Dosa Idli Pongal and Vada are the speciality dishes apart from the Meals, mini meals. Not to forget the filter coffee, although Italy is famous for coffee the spunto Indian filter coffee is unique. Now we can visit and enjoy the food often in Milan. 100% Vegetarian restaurant in Town, visit relish and enjoy.

Food was average Service by students was really good. Proud to see those students working hard along with studies. 1) I ordered spring roll which was below average. 2) Veg biryani which was good 3) Tomato onion uttapam which was preety below average with 0 taste.

Saravanaa Bhavan in Milan was a pleasant surprise for us! As Indians, we were genuinely thrilled to find an authentic South Indian restaurant right in the city. The service was good, and we tried their meals, filter coffee, and masala dosa — all of which were quite satisfying and true to taste. A special mention to the person at the reception, who was kind enough to help us arrange a taxi back to our hotel. A great spot if you’re craving a bit of home-style South Indian comfort food while in Milan!

I recently visited Saravana Bhavan near Duomo di Milano. The place had a pleasant atmosphere, and the service was very good. The staff, especially the service ladies, were polite, well-spoken, and welcoming. The food tasted quite good — I particularly enjoyed the vada and rasam. Personally, I would have preferred the dishes to be a little spicier, but overall it was a satisfying experience. Thank you, Saravana Bhavan, for serving authentic and tasty South Indian food outside India! #kannadiga #karnataka #india #gowdruatgermany

We ordered Ghee roast Dosa and chilly paneer + noodles. It was clear that Dosa is their USP as it was very good. But Chinese was very average. Butter milk was also awesome and very refreshing.

I had a South Indian meal in this restaurant. In my opinion this is much better than any other South Indian restaurants out of India. Almost all gravies, sides & even the appalam is upto the mark. Price should’ve been little less but the taste & service was too good. I have seen some comments on disappointment for North Indian cuisines. But in general South Indian restaurants are not always good at North Indian curries or rotis. Nevertheless it’s an opportunity for the restaurant to make it better. The service was very good. A person named Sanjiv has did a great job, his explanations & suggestions were really helpful before ordering & tasting a good food.

Here’s a clean, honest, Google-appropriate review that keeps your message clear, removes profanity, and won’t get flagged, while still making the point firmly. Written in UK/Australian English tone. ⸻ ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Review for Saravana Bhavan Milan Went to Saravana Bhavan Milan today, and we had also visited yesterday. Being New Year, the restaurant was extremely crowded yesterday, yet the food was served quite quickly. Today it was comparatively less crowded, but the service took longer. That said, on both days the food was very fresh and tasted excellent — absolutely no complaints on food quality. I really appreciate Saravana Bhavan for maintaining the same authentic taste and consistency you get in India, even here in Milan. In terms of ambience, it honestly feels like a busy South Indian eatery back home — something like Madurai Muniyandi Vilas or the Maattu Thavani food spots. The kitchen door is kept wide open, so you hear the full cooking sounds, metal sounds, along with strong burnt masala aromas spreading throughout the restaurant. While this adds to the street-food vibe, the smell carries heavily onto clothes and jackets, thermal inner wares, which is not ideal, especially for travellers with flights the next morning. A simple improvement would be to keep the kitchen door closed or improve ventilation, which would greatly enhance the dining experience. When complained to the Chef inside, we heard him saying loudly, if you don’t like smell why coming to our restaurant? Never had this smelling experience in any of the Saravana Bhavan restaurants back in India. Overall, excellent food and authentic flavours — just a small operational tweak needed to make the experience more comfortable.

We tried the Kaima Idly, thali, and a few drinks. Overall, the food was average. The dosas, in particular, were a bit disappointing. If you're really craving South Indian food after days of Italian cuisine, it's worth a try, but don’t expect to be wowed.

My experience at Saravana Bhavan was extremely disappointing. The food quality was far below expectations for a restaurant with such a reputation. Dishes were poorly prepared, lacked freshness, and were served lukewarm. Basic items were either overcooked or bland, and presentation was careless. Cleanliness was also an issue, with tables not properly cleaned and overall hygiene standards not meeting expectations. Considering the prices charged, the value for money was very poor. Overall, this visit did not reflect the standards one would expect from a well-known South Indian restaurant. I would not recommend this location based on my experience

Pongal is pricey but quantity is not even enough for a child. You can see picture attached and say is this worth for 9 euros? And I was so expecting about Filter Coffee but completely disappointed with quality and temperature of coffee is cold.

The taste is not upto the mark its just a brand. We ordered chilly mushroom and mushroom Manchurian and both tasted same with no difference. Ordered channe and bhature taste wise was good but we ordered 2 and got one within 2-3mins and that was already made and kept the channa looked really dry and also the salad was really dry and also quantity compared to taste and price was very less. we ordered falooda and it came out to be fruit and on reconfirming it was said it is falooda only and we were not able to find falooda in it. Service was good but overall experience was not upto the mark as the name Saravanaa Bhavan.
