Taberna Vasca Milano Reviews
Posto molto originale spagnolo paella e sangria buonissima cosi come la crema catalana. Sicuramente ci torno. Merita.
I've been going there for years and have always had a great experience. I've always enjoyed the service and the staff. The appetizers and paella are delicious.
I went to Taberna Jai Alai last night and had a really good meal. As a Basque living in Italy, I can say I felt at home. All the food is top-notch, and the quality is always right. Sabino, Mariví, and the entire team are delightful. I recommend the Basque chorizo, the gulas del norte, the shrimp... I'll definitely be back soon to try the pimientos rellenos de cod!
The paella was well-made, and I recommend the pescado (fish paella). The sangria is truly delicious. We also had the shrimp cooked with oil, garlic, and chili pepper...must try! In short, excellent food in a simple, family-friendly atmosphere, with a friendly and helpful owner. Recommended.
It was delicious. We’ve been to Milan for 3 nights, but after 1st evening we decided that it’s impossible to find better place for evening. Parlla, chorizo, sangria, and of course flan. ;)
A genuin Spanish restaurant
A very pleasant evening with friends: the place is very welcoming, the food very satisfying, and Sabino, with his friendliness and expertise, won us over immediately (but don't address him formally, or he'll get angry 😜). Special mention for the sangria, the crema catalana, and, sorry, but it has to be said, they have a beautiful bathroom: it feels like being in Provence 😍
Evening with friends, we ate well. A unique mix of typical Spanish appetizers...perhaps the prosciutto could still be improved. The mixed paella and sangria were very good, although I have to say that for those lucky enough to eat it in Spain, there's obviously no comparison. Service could be improved; the waitress wasn't very friendly; in fact, it seemed like she was bothering him! The quality/price ratio wasn't very good. Maybe check to see if it's available on The Fork!
We went last night with the family. A casual place, with rustic, homey decor. I enjoyed both the cured meats appetizer and the excellent paella. The sangria was excellent. The prices are moderately high, but fair for the quality of the products. I would return and recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the flavors of Spain.
A little bit expensive
It's been a while since I've been there. The chef must have changed, so the meat paella—where's the meat? The fish one is fine. For starters, they brought two slices of ham and an omelette. I remembered it much better. For the disabled, no problem. Thanks to the lady's service, we had a great time!! Let's leave aside the price, because for a meat paella—I repeat, two slices of ham and a small piece of omelette—€50.
I had dinner on Saturday evening with friends. The atmosphere is very light, typical of old-fashioned trattorias, and I'd say that, in my opinion, is a plus. The tables are set very simply, and that's another plus. I'd say the food is good...in fact...in my opinion, excellent. The waitress, Marta, is a very colorful woman, with a colorful way of speaking, but that said, very good at her job. The thing that struck me most was the cleanliness...there was a problem with the door, and we had to leave the kitchen...I've been working in the restaurant business for 45 years...and I can assure you that a kitchen as clean and tidy as that is hard to find, even in places where you spend over €100 per person. CONGRATULATIONS
I celebrated my birthday at this tavern. The space and atmosphere are welcoming, and the person who recommended it was good. The restaurant and its restrooms were spotless, super clean. However, I didn't like drinking wine in a glass, and the paella was a little dry. I understand they have areas for improvement in customer service; it could be better. Overall, my experience was just okay.
Ambiente molto informale. Paella alla valenciana ricca di pollo ma carente di pesce. La paella vegetariana aveva il riso crudo. Buona la crema catalana. Molto gentile il proprietario, mentre la cameriera che ci ha servito al tavolo è stata al limite della maleducazione.
Very dry paella, not as it used to be. Sangria good but very expensive. Starters not impressive and far from what can be found in real spanish restaurants. I am afraid the whole place has to improve to be competitive.
Pessima esperienza
Poor-quality ingredients. The seafood and meat in the paella are flavorless and clearly not fresh. Prices are absurd (just because we're in Milan, who cares). Unfriendly staff: every time you order, it feels like they're doing you a favor.
I feel compelled to change my review of this place despite having already been there twice and having received nothing short of excellent service. This evening, we were greeted by a South American woman who treated us very rudely and became very familiar with us. We specifically requested two paellas without shellfish because two of our diners were allergic. Just when we were ordering, she showed a hostile attitude, completely unbecoming of a table attendant. The paellas with shellfish were brought to us, and, having immediately noticed the mistake, the owner simply passed them off as new paellas. Unfortunately, there were still some shrimp left inside. The likelihood of multiple people with shrimp allergies being in the restaurant at the same time as us on a Saturday and ordering at the same time was almost nil. I was extremely annoyed to hear "the next ones will wait," as if to emphasize that the paella wasn't the same as before, which in fact it was. The service was truly lacking, and the waitress should definitely learn to respect the customer more. I'm truly sorry I had to change my review, but having introduced new people to this cuisine, I felt I had made a mistake in choosing this place. Despite the food being excellent, the evening left me feeling very disappointed. Out of respect for my fellow diners, I avoided mentioning this either during or afterward. But we left with a bitter taste in our mouths.
Truly poor service and rude waitress. They don't have menus and can't control the prices. They even steal the sangria quantities. They claim the sangria is a liter and a half, but we filled three normal glasses. Truly disappointing place. Astronomical bill.... Spanish people in Milan????? Please....grilled prawns???? They're just 4-centimeter shrimp. Shame on you. The paella? White rice with peppers and three fish...
