La Milpa Milpitas Reviews
I have been enjoying the food at LaMilpa since the early 80's. Never a bad meal.
They may have a new chef because our meals were great after a few visits where the food was so so.
It was my first time here, some friends and I were in the area and wanted Menudo. It did not disappoint. Staff was extremely nice and attentive, chips and salsa were good, and we ordered chavelas they brought the lime juice in the cup and the beer bottle on the side we added the beer ourselves which was a nice touch so that you know you're getting the full beer, something about the lime juice they use made that one of the best chavelas I've had.
We have been coming here for years and have always had a great meal. After their generous portions, save room for desert the flan and sopapillas are also wonderful. The staff is friendly and efficient, the perfect place for a quiet lunch or dinner.
The food was delicious!! The portions were pretty large and the people here were very sweet and friendly. The restaurant looks really cute and it's a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed all of our meals :)
I love coming here. I always come with my family Sundays after church. The workers are amazing, kind and quick. You definitely get treated as if your at someone's home. I love the menudo and the mechaca.
They serve amazing Mexican food! It was my first time trying out real Mexican food here in California, and this place really gave me a nice experience! Their decorations and the atmosphere made me feel calm and relaxed. I will definitely revisit this place whenever I am feeling like some Mexican food. Please also note that their pudding (dessert) was yummy too!
The food was so good! I moved out of California decades ago and of course it's difficult to find good Mexican options. I got the enchiladas and the flavor took me right back to childhood and that taste that I've missed for so many years! So glad we found this place. Will gladly go back if in the area again.
Mexican restaurant in milpitas with generous portion sizes. The price is high but if you can make it 2 meals then it's worth it in my opinion. Carne asada chimichanga ⭐️⭐️⭐️: the carne asada inside was alright and the outside wasn't as crispy as I'd like. Personally I like my carne asada to have a light char or crust on the edges for some texture. That being said the portion size of this was ridiculous and was 2 meals for me. The beans were actually pretty delicious. I'll probably try something else next time Chips and salsa ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: classic pico de gallo and red salsa. Personally really loved the red salsa as it was different from a lot that I've tried before. Got a medium heat to hit with a slight hint of sweetness I've never tasted in it.
Was last here over 18 yrs ago and the food and quality are the same. Customer service is excellent, and the furniture is all the same as back then. I usually go for the chicken floutas, the chicken mole enchiladas, or just the chicken quesadillas. I had the taco salad and the red sauce enchiladas and they did not disappoint, their marinated chicken is so good. Price are fairly decent and you get a good portion of food. The food literally came to our table in less than 4 minutes from placing our order. You can't go wrong here, I highly recommend coming here for the great food and service.
Came in on a Sunday afternoon. It was decently busy but we were able to get seated right away. The server was quick to drop off the complimentary chips and salsa and offer beverages. (Beware only one free refill for soft drinks. Menu does let you know as well.) After ordering the food came out super quick. Everything tasted great. Good Mexican food for a good price. PS.. Just a heads up.. We came in with two small children and strollers are not permitted. We had to make a trip back to the car to drop it off.
Good place to eat, honestly I heard so much about it that I think I was expecting too much from this restaurant. The food was good but not great. I had the enchilada plate with rice and beans but it tasted like the enchilada was made the day before and warmed up. The tortilla from the enchilada was kind of chewy and didn't seem fresh, but wasn't bad either way. The chips and salsa were great and the service was excellent. Would I come back?? Probably not, there are better Mexican restaurants all over the bay area and many closer to me than this one.
Vegetarian Taco: Expected a flavorful vegetarian taco, but it turned out to be quite average. We had specifically requested fajita veggies instead of meat, yet there were barely any vegetables inside—mostly just lettuce on the side. The lack of well-seasoned veggies made it underwhelming. Chips & Salsa: The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch. The chips were crisp, not too oily, and had just the right amount of salt—better than what many other places serve. Ambience: A decent setup with a comfortable dining space, nothing particularly special but good for a casual meal. Service: The service was good, with staff being attentive and friendly throughout the visit. Overall, the experience didn’t quite live up to the positive reviews, mainly due to the lackluster vegetarian taco.
