Samurai Sushi Mission Viejo Reviews
I haven’t been to Samurai Sushi for a long time. Today, I came with my family because my cousin from Switzerland wanted sushi. She ordered the Dragon Roll and she loved it. She was like a little kid tasting ice cream for the first time. She was dancing in her seat because she was enjoying it so much. She told the owner that it is the best sushi she’s ever tasted. I tried the Super Salmon Roll. It was so yummy. The salmon on top was baked perfectly, flaky and natural. My mom had her favorite, the Mexican Roll which has crab and cucumber inside and spicy tuna and avocado on the outside. We were so very satisfied with our meals and will definitely come back. They have Happy Hour all day Monday through Thursday. The restaurant is lively and fun. The owner greets everyone as they walk in and makes us feel welcome.
If you want sushi in MV this is a great choice! Friendly staff, great sushi, and fun atmosphere! 10/10 would recommend! You get a warm welcome and goodbye when walking in and out. The fish on these rolls is amazing! Highly recommend grabbing the jalapeno poppers as well. Food doesn't take too long to come out either.
It is one of the freshest and tastiest sushi restaurants I've been to in South OC. It had very positive vibes as well
A small spot to eat good sushi or other Japanese dishes. Kids were very happy with the selection, too. Some of our friends who don't eat sushi ordered dishes with cooked fish or a seaweed salad and they were also very pleased. Some of the portions are huge. You might want to ask the server about the dishes you are not familiar with. Everyone was very friendly.
super yummy, we enjoyed the food and the wonderful atmosphere of Samurai Sushi.
Food: 5 star Service: 5 star Wait time: 3 star We've gone to Samurai for years - pre-pandemic (dine-in), during the pandemic (takeout), and more recently now that restaurants are offering indoor dining again (takeout). Samurai is our go-to for fresh sashimi and delicious specialty rolls (Bingo roll is one of our favorites!). This place has always been busy, especially with their "Buy one get one 50% off" happy hour special (Mon-Thurs). Takeout orders can take a long time - I called in my order on a Thursday around 5pm, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes, but ended up waiting more than 30. Be ready for a wait! Other than the wait, we love this place. If you dine-in, try sitting at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs are friendly and entertaining to chat with!
This was my second time trying sushi and it was really good the staff was nice and accommodating. They explained that they had to keep one of the sauces on so that the dish (baked scallops) didn't burn but still let me get the other sauces on the side.
I had the best sushi ever , I drove an hour just to come to this place , it’s worth of the drive , the owner Gina is the best she’s so attentive and fun , me and my gfs had a great time … I would highly recommend this restaurant ..
Oh boy oh boy, where do I begin?? This place was great… amazing staff that accommodated us for a large party despite it being a smaller restaurant. Food was BUSSING… we would definitely come back.
Great food and friendly service, was not too busy and food came out fast.

I love the food and the atmosphere at this place. My favorite is the Rock and Roll! It's become a bit of a joke though when I order tempura on the side, we actually take bets on whether or not I will get it... I think it's a language barrier with one of the waitresses lol
Great happy hour, fresh food. Good vibe in a small tucked away location. Will be back.
Staff was super polite and friendly, rolls were fantastic. I loved the spicy tuna and the avocado roll. The indoor is also cool and clean.
We go to Samurai Sushi several times a month. The food is fantastic and a great value. Gina the owner and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. You like sushi, go here!
Excellent sushi. I love the box dinner. Everyone is so nice. They all care about being there. The food is all delicious. Lunches are great, the box or sushi rolls. With the BOX you can choose 1-2-3 choices. Chicken, Teriyaki, or several choices of Sushi, salad and rice under $19. Yum

The staff members are friendly and provide excellent service along with delicious food. My daughter and I always choose this restaurant when we crave Japanese cuisine. I also love to bring my friends, and they enjoy it just as much! Both the owner and the server are fantastic. I highly recommend this place if you appreciate Japanese food served with friendly service at a reasonable price. You must give this place a try; you won’t regret it!
This place came highly recommended by many of our friends, and we finally got a chance to try it out. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive, and the ambiance felt cozy and family-oriented. The sushi was great overall, with plenty of options to choose from. They have an impressive selection of baked rolls, which I really enjoyed. The Special #1 was good, though my expectations were a bit higher. The Viking Roll was flavorful, but I would’ve preferred the lemon to be a little less overpowering. The Awesome Roll was absolute perfection 👌 and the Baked Scallop Roll was amazing too 👌 Definitely a place we’d come back to 🙏 great vibe, great service, and delicious sushi! 🍣
Overall the food wasn't super impressive from other sushi bars I've been to, but the service and the chef Brian was great. Ordered a few sushi rolls and beer. Not a bad spot to stop by.

I've been here twice now. Both times sushi has not been good. The rice and fish are dry and just flavorless, they leave a weird aftertaste in your mouth. Only up side it is cheap, but for me, not worth it.
Been here 4 times now and I won’t be going again, the first two times in was great. The last two times, a completely different story. I ordered 2 bento boxes both with teriyaki salmon, 1 with a crunch roll and one with a spicy salmon roll. The crunch roll had brown avocado in it and was falling apart, and the spicy salmon roll looked like the chef sat on it after he rolled it. 2 stars because the staff is always lovely but the quality control for the food here is terrible

I was faked by all of these reviews. They are Super kind and thank you for that. But the quality of sushi has to be mentioned... I understand most people care more about ambiance and service when they have sushi... but this is not even a low grade. Worst one I had in SoCal. And that tuna sushi is called a carbon monoxide colored fish, not even close to tuna. Ironically, they have lower grade sushi than poke or even buffet places do... I left my sushi but finished beer to cleanse my taste buds.
Tried out this sushi restaurant. The quality wasn’t very good. Even the spicy edamame was tasteless. I guess some customers will come back because it’s close to their house. Not much more to say.
Use to be great. That was the fattiest eel I ever had, the lowest quality ever . The people that like the rolls here must really like sugar . All the sauce they have on there rolls hide the low quality Fish they purchase . So many better places I am surprised they are still in business. The rice is thick and fills you up and fish is small on the rolls . Never ever going back
