Authentic, delicious, impeccable service and beautiful setting. Wont disappoint, tacos are as close I’ve had in NYC to the real deal! The bar area is great Became my favorite Mexican

Very authentic Mexican food, especially the mole which is really hard to get just right. Great brunch options - had the mole enchiladas, salsa verde enchiladas, guacamole, and corn pancakes. All delicious. Don’t expect basic Tex Mex food. Drinks were delicious with generous portions. Service was very attentive. Loved the bohemian ambience.

Visited Casa Carmen last Saturday for brunch. Everything that we had was very good. The cocktails were interesting and evenly balanced, and the food was fabulous. The empanadas were a surprise. Instead of typical flour/wheat discos and filling, they sub the discos for mashed maduros. A great twist!

Very authentic mexican food and elevated ambiance. I was with a group of Mexican friends and they were very impressed with dishes which are not very common in American Mexican restaurants. I loved the octopus with rice. The desserts and cocktails were especially good. And the service was very kind, prompt and gracious.

This Mexican inspired restaurant has excellent ceviche and drinks. They have a thick corn chip like a tostada that you can top with shrimp, fresh fish or crab as a ceviche. The drinks are excellent and original because they use smokey mezcal instead of tequila. The cactus cooler, banana old fashioned, mezcal straight. Great service too.

Casa Carmen is undoubtedly the best authentic Mexican restaurant in New York City. We often go for dinner and lunch and always have a great time and delicious food. We decided to hire Casa Carmen to cater our wedding in January, and they exceeded our expectations. Ivan the chef prepared a variety of appetizers and main dishes from several regions in Mexico, including the amazing Chiles in Nogada and Mole Poblano. Our guests loved it. The cocktails were also delicious and presented so well. Highly recommend Casa Carmen for your special events. Sebastian and Luis offered excellent service and are kind, friendly and professional.

Casa Carmen is an amazing Mexican restaurant. We started with guac and chips and they were so good. My only small criticism is that the portion could be bigger because we had to order another one. That’s how good it was. I had the rib taco and my friends absolutely loved their food too. Everyone ordered something different and everything was great. For drinks, of course I had a Mezcalita Rocks margarita and I highly recommend it. We also had churros for dessert and they were delicious.I will definitely be coming back again very soon.

Casa Carmen has a great atmosphere for elevated Mexican cuisine. A bit on the pricier side, but everything was delicious. The margarita is great, the guacamole is fresh, and as someone with a dislike for cilantro, they graciously accommodated. My friend and I ordered and split two versions of enchiladas (verdes, Xico/mole). My friend preferred the verdes while I preferred the mole so to each their own! Personally, I would definitely reorded the mole enchiladas when I return. Great spot if you're craving Mexican food and are looking for a slightly elevated dining experience.

Came here for dinner. I like the decoration, ambience and the low noise level. Ordered two dishes from the “to share” section (Ceviche verde and Tostadas de cangrejo), one from the “main course” (Enchiladas verdes) and one from the “dessert” (Pastel de elote). I like the two from the “to share”, as well as the dessert. But not so much for the main, as I feel it a bit over-priced. The flavor is good though.

Nice, tranquil, elegant eatery for authentic Mexican food in a business or date night setting. Tried the tacos de carnitas, super tasty roast pork with onions in fresh blue corn tortillas. A Habanero-infused salsa on the side for those who don’t like too spicy. Loved the Esquites and cream (corn off the cob) and Chicken Mole de Xico which was an aromatic, slightly sweet and spicy cacao-based sauce. Prices are fair for the generous portions and attentive service, worth noting the good 3-course lunch special with lots of options is $30 but was too much to eat! Will be back to try some of their more unusual plates!

Our leadership team dined at Casa Carmen in Flatiron last night, and it was fantastic from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and stylish, the service was genuinely attentive, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and the presentation was beautiful. The staff made the experience feel seamless for a group, and everyone walked away talking about how great the evening was. Highly recommended!

Top lunch and dinner place in Manhattan for anybody looking for true high end Mexican cuisine with service as close to Mexico City service as you can get. Friendly staff, and great setting. Signature cocktails and mezcal drinks are really tasty. As good as Mexican food gets in Manhattan.

October 24 2025 Review: Great Food, Disappointing Service It’s a real shame when a restaurant with such amazing food is let down by staff who seem to lack basic courtesy and professionalism. My recent experience was deeply disappointing and frustrating. We arrived promptly at 5:00 p.m. for our reservation, only to be told by the hostess—before we were even fully seated—that the next reservation was at 7:00 p.m. This abrupt comment immediately set a negative tone and felt completely disrespectful. We were on time, yet we were made to feel as though we were an inconvenience. Unfortunately, the poor attitude didn’t stop there. Our waitress continued with the same condescending demeanor throughout the evening. From start to finish, we felt pressured to eat quickly and leave, rather than being allowed to enjoy our meal and unwind after a long, difficult day at work. The only exception was Fredy, our waiter, who was polite, professional, and genuinely attentive—his service stood in stark contrast to the rest of the staff. Given the amount we spent on this meal, there is no excuse for such dismissive treatment. It’s clear that this restaurant has serious deficiencies in customer service and public relations skills. While the food was excellent, the service was horrible. Good food cannot make up for an experience that leaves customers feeling unwelcome and disrespected. Until the management addresses these issues and trains their staff to treat patrons with basic respect, I would hesitate to return—no matter how good the food is.

I recently dined at Casa Carmen and had the pleasure of being served by Franco from the moment we sat down, he was attentive and friendly. He promptly took our drink orders. He was knowledgeable about the menu and patiently answered our questions, offering helpful recommendations. Our food arrived quickly and was exactly as ordered. We started with the tostada de cangrejo which was spectacular. I had the ribeye and it was perfectly cooked. And throughout the meal, he checked on us regularly, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Franco excellent service truly enhanced our dining experience. He was professional, courteous, and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend Franco and will definitely be back to restaurants not only for the food but also for the great service!

8 of us met up for dinner in the height of a heavy snowfall on December 26th, 2025. We were able to find parking right on the street where this restaurant is located. We shared a few apps like the Garnachas Orizabenas, and a few other tacos, Ceviche and the corn which was really good. Service was good, quick and everything tasted well.

Great experience with this Flatiron area Mexican restaurant. Beautiful space, creative menu, and thoughtful service throughout. The menu draws on sophisticated Oaxacan flavors and much more than a taco/burrito joint. Enjoyed the unique cocktails as well.

As a Mexican I can say this is the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant in New York. Just top notch food, drinks, service and ambiance. Not cheap but worth every penny. I will be back!

Nine of us went for Sunday Brunch on 6/22/25 to celebrate a Birthday. Food was nicely presented and very good, especially the Hotcakes de Elote (corn pancakes). The carnitas tacos were also good but the portion size was small at only 2 small ones per order. Service was friendly and attentive. Our only warning to other diners is: Beware the Pan de Dulces! A waiter with a basketful of these colorful and delicious breads came around to offer one to everyone at the table, with 7 of us accepting thinking they were complimentary. When the bill came we were charged $56 for these - $8 apiece! We paid the bill without complaining but all agreed on the way home that it was misrepresented as a free bread basket! They also recommended a special brown sugar iced coffee, which 3 of us ordered but did not like at all. We would go back, but with our eyes wider open!

Honestly disappointed. the guac was so bland we had to ask for salt and lome to make it edible. the chile relleno lacked any semblance of seasoning and the rice and bean portion were tiny. Will say the drinks are good but not a bargain. was expecting more.

Had a very nice birthday celebration for a friend at Casa Carmen. For a drink, I had a margarita, which wasn't quite to my liking, and the black lava salt on the rim was very off-putting. The two appetizers we had, the guacamole and the crab & corn on tostadas were both delicious. The rib eye taco, one of the reasons why we went to Casa Carmen, was very disappointing, as the meat had no flavor at all, most likely because it was not seasoned at all and then cooked too long. The side of esquites, a popular Mexican street food, eliminated the step of having the corn kernels sautéed in a pan, so the ultimate charred flavor was very much missing. Another overall miss in all of the dishes was the lack of cilantro, a very important ingredient when preparing Mexican food. A shout out to our waiter, Eduardo, who was so polite, pleasant and professional!

I had a really disappointing experience. While I stepped away to the bathroom at my friends birthday dinner, the waiter accidentally spilled guacamole all over my brand-new jacket that was hanging on the back of my chair. I don’t even eat guacamole, and this completely ruined the night. All the waiter said was “I’m sorry,” and when I spoke with the manager, the only solution offered was that he would pay for the dry-cleaning bill. For something this serious, most restaurants would at least discount the meal or take meaningful responsibility. Mistakes happen, but the way they handled it showed poor service and a lack of care. I emailed them the day of the dinner and they still haven’t gotten back to me. Overall, it wasn’t addressed properly and left me with a really bad impression.
